From: Anton Balabanov, CEO of Rus’ International Bank

To: To Whom It May Concern representing the financial interests of Mrs. Son Ji-hye

I am writing on behalf of Rus’ International Bank (RIB), the largest financial institution in the Holy Kingdom of Samantra. RIB has been a leader in banking services in Samantra for more than a decade, has a presence in the kingdom of Clysperis and is listed on the Petrograd Stock Exchange (PSE).

We offer our clients a wide range of services including wealth management for ultra-high net individuals. Mrs. Son Ji-hye is not just the richest individual in the Djabidjan Republic but also one of the richest on the Ardian continent and as such we believe she would be a good fit for the services we provide and I like to see if we can arrangement a meeting, in the Republic, the Holy Kingdom or any other third country, to talk more at length about what services we can provide for Mrs. Son Ji-hye and the potential partnership we might engage in. I know Mrs. Son Ji-hye is the CEO of Djabidjan Investment Fund and a member of the national government's advisory board on finance and economic affairs so I believe we have common interests.

I look forward to your reply.

Yours respectfully,
Anton Balabanov
CEO of Rus’ International Bank

Addressed to: Her Holiness Reverend Mother Erin McGregor
From: His Holiness Alexy, Patriarch of Rus and all the Slavs

I would like to begin by expressing much belated congratulations for emerging victorious in your righteous struggle against the godless forces of Soviet communism. The faithful of Samantra saw your struggle as one of David against Goliath and eventually the whole of Mundus saw that your forces emerged victorious regardless of the might the Soviets pushed against you.

I do not presume to know the Lord’s plans nor do I claim that I always understand His will but what I do understand is that the foundation on which your people have won a great struggle against the Soviets is your faith, the faith that your lead. A religious leader who has played such a great role in fighting Soviet communism is worthy not just of respect from the Holy Kingdom but I dare say the whole of Mundus.

I understand your nation is taking its first steps in the long process to rebuild it and while you already have other great partners, like the Kingdom of Chistopol, to help you in your journey I nevertheless would like to invite you for talks in Novyy Rim, the spiritual capital of the Holy Kingdom, to see how we can work together for betterment of our flocks here and in the afterlife.

May the Lord bless your brave people!
Alexy
Patriarch of Rus and all the Slavs

Diplomacy and Events / The Pagan Rus’ (Samantra and Chistopol)
« on: July 23, 2022, 10:56:43 PM »

Addressed to: His Majesty King Kārlis IV
From: Her Excellency President of the Duma, Yeva Litvin

The Holy Kingdom of Samantra has only relatively recently emerged from isolation and we seek to rebuild ties lost during this time. While our nation was in isolation during this time, we are not ignorant of what happened in our region of Mundus. Your nation has been a bulwark against the Soviet communism which has allowed nations such as Samantra to enjoy relative peace and the reforms Your Majesty has implemented in the last half a century is a model of democratization for all Rus’ countries. Furthermore, efforts of your nation are not confined to recent history. We have watched and are impressed with the role your nation played in bringing peace to Kaitaine through the Tartu Accords.

It is my hope that Your Majesty or Your Majesty’s government will accept that we meet to a venue of your choosing to discuss at length where our two nations stand today and how we can cooperate on matters of trade and culture, the affairs of the Rus’ Sea (ooc: Rodinian Sea) and the threat of Soviet communism today. With Your Majesty’s permission, since your kingdom is a founding member and the largest nation in SUN, I would like to talk about the role the alliance plays in the region and its intents for the long term and also to discuss about the possibility for the Holy Kingdom to purchase 108 Zarptica fighters for our carrier fleets.
I look forward to Your Majesty’s reply and thank you again for your nation’s positive role in the region and Mundus.

Yours respectfully,
Yeva Litvin
President of the Duma

The Samantran Pod part of the Blue Project in Royal Seleucid

The Blue project in Royal Seleucid

The Samantran Pod is a building part of the larger Blue project in Royal Seleucid which is a mini world fair for the nations of Midaranye. The Samantran Pod has six floors with the first floors dedicated to business and tourism, the middle ones to culture and top one to Samantra's religion. The Samantran Ministry of External Affairs together with the private sector came together and designed the interior of the pod with a Midaranye audience in mind and especially the Seleucid public. For those reasons it emphasized and exaggerated, where possible, cultural connections with the Midaranye region in general and Royal Seleucid in particular. The Samantran Pod was opened following a Royal Seleucid – Samantra agreement which saw the unused pod reserved for Clysperis and unused by them be given to Samantra.

The first floors: tourism and business

Visitors of the Samantran Pod were greeted by hostess dressed in Samantran traditional clothing. Great care was taken when hiring the hostesses. Some were Samantran citizens and spoke Latin fluently (ooc: one of the lingua franca of Mundus), others were from ethnic minorities of Tamora (ethnic Rus' from the federated kingdom of Vojvodina) and Clysperis ( from the Rus' minority present there since the Soviet occupation) which spoke Parthian and Rus' fluently and thus could address the visitors from Midaranye in the regional lingua franca (Parthian) or even in the Clysperi language.

Visitors at pod greeted by a hostess and invited to try out traditional Samantran cazonac.

Samantra as a destination for tourism

Several tourist agencies were present at the pod promoting Samantra as a tourist destination. Most tourist agencies focused on promoting cultural tourism emphasizing Samantra’s great landmarks:

Cathedral of the Samantran Armed Forced in Novyy Rim, inaugurated in 2014, (sixty years after the end of the Sacred War) is one of the major landmarks of Samantra, alongside many other churches in the country.

Samantran mountains were also promoted as a tourist destination.

And of course, so were Samantran beaches which often feature vegetation.

All tourist agencies made sure to mention that the country has a family friendly policy according to law and that the Holy Kingdom is also a signatory of the Abrahamic Declaration of rights which was drafted in Midaranye, in the Emirate of Rayyu.

Some of the major Samantran companies with a presence in the pod:

Rus’ International Bank

The largest bank in the Holy Kingdom was one of the major Samantran companies that had a presence on the floor. The bank main selling point for visitors was offering access to the Petrograd Stock Exchange and offering private banking services for high net individuals.

Umarov Real Estate Trust

The largest Real Estate trust in Samantra also had a presence in the pod. They had prepared presentations for visitors showcasing their completed and outgoing real estate projects and were looking for potential partners to invest in real estate in Royal Seleucid and MidAranye.

Samantran Oil and Gas companies:

Several oil and gas companies from Samantra specialized in downstream (gas terminals, gas stations, refineries etc) were present. They were interested in partnerships including expanding in Royal Seleucid and MidAranyre in general.

L&K Auto

L&K Auto, the largest manufacturer of cars in Samantra, had a presence at the pod with visitors able to try all the models in the current lineup of the company. The company made sure to mention that their new electric vehicles had Seleucid manufactured batteries. Since Royal Seleucid and Samantra dropped tariffs for the automobile sector they were looking to increase the brand awareness among the public and increase market share.

The middle floors- restaurants, cinemas, entertainment and museums

The middle floors allowed visitors to try Samantran cuisine at a couple of restaurants while a cinema allowed visitors to see Samantran made movies. There were also listening booths where visitors could listen to songs from some of Samatra’s greatest artists including: Anastasiya Lazarenko and Boris Havasi

There was also a mini fashion show displaying designs from various Samantran fashion designers including Raisa Ignatov:

Present on the floor was also an exhibition showcasing some of the most defining moments of modern Samantra, some of the highlights:

The Great War Era was one of the major events featured and great emphasis was put on the fact that Royal Seleucid and the then Kingdom of Samantra fought on the same side during the war.

A list of Seleucid servicemen who received commendations from the Kingdom of Samantra during the Great War Era. While the two countries didn't necessarily have many joint operations together in the Great War (ooc: the history of the Great War Era is too volatile to enter in details) the exhibition was meant to create that (false) impression.

The nuclear bomb dropped by the Achkaerin Empire on the Ardian Empire was featured as proof of the callousness of the Allied forces with the implication that had the bomb not been dropped the fate of the Great War could have gone either way.

The signing of the Abrahamic Declaration of Rights was also featured in the exhibition as a way to emphasize the connections Samantra had to present day Midaranye.

The top floor - Religion

The top floor was reserved entirely for a Samantran Orthodox church. The Holy Kingdom of Samantra being a theocracy, the Samantran Orthodox Church played a huge role in country and the top floor was meant to reflect that. Visitors will get information about the Christian religion with great emphasis put on the fact that it Christianity is a MidAranye religion originating from Vanora. As per the custom in the Holy Kingdom, when entering the church women were asked to cover their hair.

Replicas of the great mosaics from the Cathedral of the Samantran Armed Forced in Novyy Rim were on display. They featured Ardian, Heyran and Samantran soldiers fighting side by side as allies in the Great War:

An icon of the Saint Parascheva, a native saint of Samantra was also featured in the church. A special mention was made for visitors that she is from Midaranye (Empire of Tamora):

History / The history of the Rus Empire – discussion and plans
« on: April 19, 2022, 04:51:29 PM »
Since there are a few player nations who have a historic connection to the Rus Empire and because Geo has raised interesting points regarding his nation’s history, I thought I should open a thread about what we know about the Rus Empire (and the sources).

Spoiler:  Geo’s comments on Discord • show

1.   would the rus empire
2.   [12:05 PM]
have maintained a prescense in Nisava
3.   [12:05 PM]
till say, the 19th century?
4.   [12:06 PM]
as a kind of analog for the ottomans
5.   [12:06 PM]
what was the rus empire's extent in this time period?
6.   [12:06 PM]
i'm asking here because doing it on the forum is boring :/
7.   [12:10 PM]
currently i'm thinking Nisava, Basnio and Blitkenitia flip flop in and out of the Rus Empire's control
8.   [12:11 PM]
Remaining largely part of it throughout the middle ages, but independent at times when the Empire's power waned
9.   [12:12 PM]
throughout the renaissance period mainly independent until around the 16th century, where they'd remain under control until around the 19th century, where'd they'd rebel and become independent
1.   Nisava would invade and annex Blikenitia in the late 19th century, and would then inherit Basnio in the early 20th, forming a dual monarchy of Nisava-Basnio.
2.   [12:16 PM]
then after NB loses the Great War a revoltion happens, making the Kingdom a communist union of three nation yade yade yade
3.   [12:16 PM]
so i'm just wondering on the extent of the Rus empire

The biggest cannon source I could find (which is not saying much) is this from the history of Rodina.

“Formerly the heartland of the Rus Empire that was a powerful and influential nation in eastern Cotf Aranye for centuries, the Rus Empire fell during the Communist uprising of 1760 and following a subsequent revolution was reborn as the United Soviet Rodina but would commonly in later years be referred to as the USR.
Source: https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=395.0

As far as Samantra’s history is concerned I tried to keep it simple and linked to that of Rodina in the hope that would not mess up many people’s history. This is what I have for Samantra:

“Historically, the country traces its roots to the Rus Empire that was a powerful and influential nation in eastern Cotf Aranye for centuries. However, the heartland of the Rus Empire was Rodina while Samantra was the eastern extremity of the Empire. Once the Rus Empire fell during the Communist uprising of 1760 and following a subsequent revolution was reborn as the United Soviet Rodina, Samantra declared independence. From the 1760s onwards relations between USR and Samantra worsen and Samantra slowly started to gravitate towards the Ardian Empire.”
Source: https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2424.msg22156#msg22156

For Zaporozh I have this from his factbook:

“Having hailed from Rodinha the Zaporozh people fled various pogroms during the 14th and 15th Centuries.”
“ As Rodinha turned more communist and expansionist support for them dwindled and today they are seen as the nations biggest threat. “
Source: https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2395.msg21861#msg21861

For Chistopol all we have is this though the nation is definitely tied to Rus:
“In 1932 however the nation experienced a series of political assassinations by the National Workers Party which saw King Viktor II killed survived only by his three month old son Prince Kārlis. The nation descended into chaos and troops from Rodina and Kaitaine invaded imposing a Communist government on the people.”

Source: https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2013.0

Kaitaine is also Rus from what I understood from Libby but all I could find in the factbook is this:
“By the early 1800's the USR cast envious glances towards Kiataine for its ports and began spreading Communist ideas there. When great famines hit in the 1860's the USR sent food aid and instigated a revolution which overwhelmed the Kaitaine government and Bene Gesserit paramilitary. Since then it became part of the USR sphere of influence who have brutually stamped out the Bene Gesserit faith and targetted elements of Kaitaine society”
https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=360.0

Lodja, the other major Rus nation of present day, has never been part of the Rus Empire as far as I understood from Libby but I may be wrong.

My conclusion (speculations) from the little we have above:

-   The Rus Empire did not last beyond 1760 -1770.
-   The Rus Empire probably owned if not all the lands around the Rodinian sea then it did most of them at one point in time.
-   Waddan, Clysperis and Centralia were never part of the Rus Empire so it is clear it never reached that far. In the case of Centralia I think it is safe to say it never even got close. In the case of Clysperis, Rodinia/USR did conquer them for a period and they became SSR of Clysperis( 1949-1977) but that is another matter since it is not the Rus Empire.
-   Safraen was invaded by USR at one point but the invasion was defeated thanks to a grand coalition of major powers. Again that was not the Rus Empire but USR/Rodina.

Diplomacy and Events / For a nuclear future (Samantra and Altona)
« on: April 11, 2022, 08:00:04 PM »

Addressed to the Altonan ambassador in Petrograd
From: Her Excellency, Minister of External Affairs Maria Mikhailov

I would like to begin by your nation’s achievements in the field of nuclear energy have left an impression on us in Samantra’s secular government. What you have achieved is impressive by in and of itself but to have done it outside MAEA and without much connections to the large regional blocks that dominate Mundus is outstanding. Yet despite your achievements in the field we feel that your exports aboard have been if not modest then at least below their potential.

The Holy Kingdom of Samantra seeks to create bridges with the developing countries of Mundus and I believe your nuclear expertise could help us achieve that. So I would like to invite your or a representative of your government together with one of your experts on nuclear energy to the Oak Palace (ooc: HQ of the secular movement) for an informal and discreet exploratory meeting about building affordable nuclear power plants in developing countries. Our government in a partnership with the private sector is willing to fund construction of such nuclear power plants in the developing world provided that we can find a suitable and flexible partner that meets our needs and a feasible plan so that they can become profitable and recover our investment in the long term.

Should you be interested, please let us know so that we can have our staffs arrange the meeting.

Respectfully yours,
Maria Mikhailov
Minister of External Affairs

We thank the potential candidates for their interest and we look forward to working with them during this movie or in other future productions.

To: His Royal Majesty, King HeydarJulius Devaux
From: Her Excellency, President of the Duma Yeva Litvin

I would like to express my full support for Your Majesty’s kingdom in the face of the announced Rokkenjiman sanctions. We find the sanctions to be politically driven and part of Rokkenjiman agenda that treats other sovereign countries outside its sphere of influence as threats or pawns. The Holy Kingdom rejects that approach and respects the sovereignty of each country in determining its domestic policies.

The Holy Kingdom of Samantra assures Your Majesty of our full support on the matter and my government has implemented a plan aimed at alleviating the disruptions created by the ill advised Rokkenjiman actions. Furthermore, I would like to reconfirm our interest to join the Gulf of Auraxis Agreement as an associate partner. I believe cooperation between our countries is key to countering the malign influence of the Rokkenjiman Empire.

Yours respectfully,
Yeva Litvin
President of the Duma

To: His Excellency, Praetor Julius Devaux
From: Her Excellency, President of the Duma Yeva Litvin

I am writing to you as President of the Duma and head of the secular government of Samantra. Our two nations shared a proud past. As a child growing up in Christian Orthodox orphanage the local nuns taught me to love the Lord and His Church, the Ardian language and respect for the Ardian Empire. It is hard to underestimate the respect we Samantrans have for the Ardian Empire and its role in bringing civilization and the word of God to all corners of Ardia and beyond.

As a Samantran I am proud that my ancestors stood side by side with the Ardian Empire in the days of the Great War Era until the very end. Their sacrifice is honored in many places in the holy kingdom including in one of our greatest cathedrals, the Cathedral of the Samantran Armed Forced, in our spiritual capital of Novyy Rim and throughout our history books.

Thanks to the people of Samantra which have entrusted me with the privilege to serve them as President of the Duma I have had the chance to move to Petrograd, the secular capital of the Holy Kingdom. Living here the city reminds me each day though its architecture of the positive influence the Ardian Empire has had on Samantra.

While we should always cherish the past we must be careful not to get trapped in it. Both the Ardian Empire and the Kingdom of Samantra no longer exist. And while I admit neither of them were perfect, I am a firm believer that the collapse of the Ardian Empire was the biggest geopolitical catastrophe of the XX-th century. It is my belief, one shared by many Samantrans, that had the Ardian Empire won the Great War the world today would have been a much better place. We would not have had the genocides in Toshikawa and Phuebra, the Soviets would have not spread their tentacles so far, Daito would never have dared to keep its colony in the Rus' world (Volhynia) until the early twenty first century and Heyra would not be today in a position to face extinction. It is with these thoughts in mind that I would like to visit the Allied States of Ardia and commemorate the victims of the Achkaerin nuclear bomb. Their deaths are a crime against humanity that must never be forgotten.

As I said, we must not be prisoners of the past so I would like to use the opportunity to also meet a representative of your government and have an exploratory meeting to see where our two countries stand today on the issues facing Mundus, what can we do to make Mundus a better and more just world and how we can cooperate towards that goal.

With the hope of a positive answer I await your reply.

With the greatest of respect,
Yeva Litvin
President of the Duma

OOC: The message is written in Ardian/Latin.

Diplomacy and Events / Nothing without Oil (Clysperis and Samantra)
« on: March 20, 2022, 08:07:45 PM »

To: Her Royal Majesty, Pharaoh Akasha
From: Her Excellency, President of the Duma Yeva Litvin

I would like to begin by expressing our gratitude, in the name of the Holy Kingdom, for refusing the appeal of the Rokkenjiman Empire to sanction the people of Samantra for expressing their will in the latest referendum. The fact that Your Majesty did so despite the fact that she disagrees with Samantra’s position is something that only furthers our respect for Your Majesty.

I believe that in times of crisis you find out who you can rely on and Your Majesty’s government has proven a reliable partner in this crisis and therefore would like to extend an invitation for Your Majesty to come to Petrograd for an offical state visit. As we both know your kingdom is a major supplier of oil and gas for Samantra’s economy and that creates a special link between our nations.  The resources your kingdom provides are crucial for the well-functioning of the Samantran economy and the compensation we provide in return I believe is of equal importance to your kingdom’s economic development. I therefore believe we would have plenty to discuss on economic matters related not only to the supply of oil and gas but also potential Samantran investments in the city of Setri and the wider Clysperi economy. I will be of course be available to approach any other topics Your Majesty might deem appropriate for our bilateral relations.

I look forward to Your Majesty’s reply and any special requests she might have for the visit should our invitation be accepted.

With the greatest of respect,
Yeva Litvin
President of the Duma

To whom it may concern at Universal Free Church
From: Father Aleksandr Kozlov, Spokesperson for the Samantran Orthodox Church

The public support expressed by your Church following the results of the referendum has not gone unnoticed. I would like to express our gratitude in the name of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy and the Samantran Orthodox Church. Our efforts to preserve the traditional role of the family as well the role of the church in society were often misrepresented in the media but we are glad that the Samantran people as well as your church have seen that the result of the referendum is pleasing to the Lord.

We know the people of Djabidjan face many hardships and we would like to help by making a small donation of 1 million roubles (usd) to your church. We are not knowledgeable of the laws and regulations of your country so please let us know if such donations are permitted.

The Samantran Orthodox Church seeks to become a friend of the Universal Free Church as we believe more unites us than divides us and we remain open for any cooperation in the future.

Economics and Industry / City revitalization (Samantra and Chistopol)
« on: March 13, 2022, 01:33:31 PM »
To: The local government of Tartu, the kingdom of Chistopol
From: Talya Samarin, CEO of Umarov Real Estate Trust

I am writing of behalf of Umarov Real Estate Trust, a company specialized in real estate that has a long history of successful investments in the Holy Kingdom of Samantra. The company board has authorized a new strategy focusing on diversification by investing in markets aboard and as such we would like to invest in the city of Tartu.

Your kingdom has been a shield in the face of Soviet aggression that allowed nations such as my own to live in freedom something that our history books never fail to mention. Our research department has informed me of the infrastructure issues the city faces because of the legacy of the Soviet occupation one of them being the packed and inadequate living condition in the Soviet built apartment blocks. We therefore decided to invest 100 million roubles/USD in building a real estate project designed to address the needs of the people of Tartu.

I have attacked to the email the design ideas of a neighborhood developed over 2 hectares of land which provide 15 thousand square meters of office space, 63 thousand square meters of living space in 850 apartments, underground parking and over 6 thousand square meters of green space. The tallest building will have 20 floors (aside from the ground floor). We will be self-financing the project and we seek that once completed to rent it out. 5% of the living space will be rented out for free indefinitely to needy families as per company policy.

We believe the project will be a benefit to the community you represent and we seek your assistance in finding a suitable piece of land to buy for the project as well as to inquire to any specific regulations or restrictions that we should be aware of.

I look forward to your reply.

Talya Samarin, CEO of Umarov Real Estate Trust

OOC: I am not looking for a meeting, just a reply.

« on: March 13, 2022, 10:29:44 AM »

To: His Royal Majesty, King Heydar
From: Her Excellency, President of the Duma Yeva Litvin

I am writing to Your Royal Majesty to set up a meeting between the governments of our two countries. The Emirate of Royal Seleucid is a key commercial partner for the Holy Kingdom of Samantra as our country imports most of its oil and gas and we seek to establish an agreement for preferential prices for oil and gas either via OPEN or directly though bilateral agreements. Furthermore, we are aware of that the Emirate of Royal Seleucid’s contribution to the stability of MidAranye as well as the creation of the Gulf of Auraxis Arrangement which has changed the economic dynamics of the region and I dare say the entire continent.

I would like to express, in the name of the government of Samantra, our interest in being recognized as an associate gulf state as specified by the xiv article of the agreement and we hope we can discuss at length about how we can receive your support for that status.

Before we conclude, I would like to express our openness to approach deep and comprehensive discussions relating to any economic matters as well as any other topics Your Royal Majesty would like to address.

Should Your Royal Majesty agree to the meeting, I would like to express our availability to send a delegation led by Minister of External Affairs Maria Mikhailov to your great Emirate at a time and venue of your choosing.

I look forward to your reply and hope for great cooperation between our two nations.

With the greatest of respect,

As soon as Valeri Kuzmin, sub secretary of foreign affairs for secular government of the Holy Kingdom of Samantra, finished attending the World's Fair Ball in Revana he immediately contacted OPCS and detailed the encounter with the female individual self-described as “Erica Sidonis, Ambassador to foreign nations from the legitimate government of the Enlightenment of Haven of Sovereignty”.

The OPCS immediately proceeded to write a report of the encounter and issue recommendations on how to proceed further. They recommendation was to not engage the Enlightenment of Haven of Sovereignty because of the huge reputation risk it could pose for the Holy Kingdom. The report was sent to both the secular government and spiritual one. The secular government, through the office of the President of the Duma, responded immediately agreeing with the recommendations but the decision was not theirs. OPCS waited a full week before eventually receiving a reply from the office of the Patriarch:

“Approach the group, discuss their agenda, inquire about the needed support and assess them. Decision to provide aid will be made after the final assessment.”

And so the OPCS immediately proceeded to contact the “government of the Enlightenment of Haven of Sovereignty” and proposed they meet in the city of Calfa in the Grand Duchy of Belgravia (ooc: on the map you can find them under the name Elista). The Duchy was in Samantra’s sphere of influence and OPCS felt comfortable meeting them there. They also wanted to test just how fanatical they were, the Grand Duchy was a monarchy so they were curious if they objected to the location.

Rus’ Tower, Petrograd, the Holy Kingdom of Samantra

“Miss. Samarin” her secretary entered her office. “I think you should watch this” she said pointing at the hallways where a large TV screen showed the headline “Clysperi Pharaoh invites Umarov Real Estate Trust for talks” with Phraoh Akasha on TV, her words translated in Rodinian:

“Both Umarov Real Estate Trust and Diamond Farm Labs have an open invitation to such a conversation with me, though I will require some reassurances from both that they will not act on speculation in our future dealings and will treat us as partners.”

As she watched the screen, more of her colleagues gathered in the hallway to watch.

“Well that is unexpected” she mumbled quietly. She was notified the day before that the Clysperi side sent them an invitation but they didn’t expect it to be made public in such a way and from the mouth of their Pharaoh.

And from there Talya’s day went downhill, she was immediately called in a meeting with the board.

CEO Talya Samarin had to explain to the board the full “Clysperi- Obelisk account” and give her opinion on the matter. Her advice: reject the Clysperi offer and move on. However, the board dismissed her recommendation and decided to send her to Clysperis.

And from there it went from bad to worse as she got a call from the Office for the Protection of the Church and its State(OPCS) asking her to come immediately to their branch in Petrograd. OPCS was Samantra’s sole domestic intelligence agency, an institution Samantrans feared and Talya was no different. She spent over two very uncomfortable hours being told what to say and what not to say during her meeting with the Clysperi Pharaoh.  Phrases like “national security” and “serious consequences” being repeated at almost every phrase. The OPCS was concerned that the Clysperi Pharaoh could take offense easily during the meeting and jeopardize Samantra’s supply of oil and gas.

OPCS branch in Petrograd

At the end of the meeting, Talya at least got the Green passport from OPCS. It was the Samantran diplomatic passport and with it, she at least felt some confidence that she would not be thrown in jail in Clysperis for the slightest of offenses.

Flight to the Kingdom Clysperis

Since there were no direct flights from Petrograd to Clysperis she had to change flights in Zaporozh and from there take Tamoran Airlines to Clysperis.

Tamoran Airlines hostess making sure all women passengers wear the hijab

As soon as the departed Zaporozh the Tamoran hostess asked all women including Talya to wear the hijab. “At least Tamoran Airlines doesn’t ban smoking in its flights” Talya thought as the put the hijab on and lit a cigar. She was used to smoking on flights since Samantra didn’t ban the practice either on its flights. She didn’t even take the first smoke when the passenger next to her complained:

“Excuse me Ms. but you are not allowed to smoke! “ he said in English.

Talya knew full well that she was allowed but lacked the patience to explain and decided to let the hostess do it so she simply replied:
“Niet English” as she put her earplugs and started listening to music.

Khemnen – the capital of Clysperis

Talya has booked a full three nights stay in Clysperis. She really didn’t need more than one for her meeting with the Pharaoh but she didn’t plan on meeting just the Pharaoh during her short stay. She wanted to get a chance to talk to the Rus’ (ooc: Slavic or Rodinian or whatever it is correct to call it) business community in Clysperis. To her knowledge the community traced its historical roots back from the days of the Soviet occupation. She wasn’t there though to talk history but use the meeting with the Pharaoh as a way to promote her and the company she worked for in the Rus’ business community in Clysperis. She didn’t expect to get any deals done in these couple of days but lay the groundwork for future cooperation since she believe Samantra had a lot to offer as did the Rus’ business community in Clysperis.

Meeting the Pharaoh

The day when she would meet the Clysperi Pharaoh had arrived. She spent much of the previous night preparing for the meeting, trying to assess how the Clysperi Pharaoh would react and how to best approach her. Still she wasn’t tired probably because she had drunk too much coffee.

She left the hotel dressed in an impeccable Samantran folk costume that she adored. Talya, like many Samantran women, liked to wear such garments on special occasions and even at work and she made no exception here. She stopped at a flower shop to buy some flowers for the Pharaoh. As she received the change she only then noticed that Clysperi was using the Tamoran Dinar as a currency.

“I wonder how long until this will also change” she thought figuring that as CLysperis was quickly leaving Tamora’s orbit for the Achkaerin one their currency should also change.
As she left the flower shop she got in a cab and went to the palace of the Pharaoh.

Ooc: I have an ooc agreement with Beatrice that the offer made here: https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2499.msg22816#msg22816 is accepted by Clysperis and that we don’t need to RP the meeting. I just posted here as a vignette because I didn’t want to waste what I had already written.

Factbooks and Maps / The Grand Duchy of Belgravia
« on: February 06, 2022, 01:51:08 PM »
The Grand Duchy of Belgravia is a land locked constitutional monarchy with approx. 20 million citizens located in East Aranye. OOC: Is currently appears on the map as Elista, it will be fixed on the next map update.

Short history and present status

The Grand Duchy of Belgravia has historically been at the cross roads of the larger Rus’ states: Halych, Nis and Samantra. Its history is linked to that of Samantra (and before that to Rodina) as it often gravitated in the orbit of historical kingdom of Samantra. By the start of the Great War Era (1914) the Grand Duchy of Belgravia was nothing more than a satellite state of the Kingdom of Samantra that managed preserve its de jure independence by giving up its de facto independence  to Petrograd (ooc: Samantra). At the beginning of the Great War Era the overwhelming majority of Belgravians considered themselves ethnic Samantrans, its church was subordinate to that of Samatra and it shared many of the laws of customs of Samantra.

Following the Samantran Sacred War (1914-1954) at the end of which Samantra basically imploded and was left in such a poor state that it could no longer provide for the security and development of its sphere of influence, Belgravia found itself alone on the Mundus stage, with few friends and with little ability to build relations. During the fifties and sixties it tentatively sought to align itself with Halych or Nis depending on which it perceived to be more powerful or most convenient. Beginning with the 1980s the economic recovery of Samantra and its willingness to reassert itself in its historical sphere of influence (of which Belgravia was a part) was initially welcomed with Belgravia linking much of its economy to the Samantran one (the major key strategic sectors of the Belgravian economy were sold or merged with Samantran companies).  However, as Samantra become increasingly more socially conservative than Belgravia and the Samatran Orthodox Church become the de facto and the jure government in Samantra, Belgravia’s relations experienced tensions. To make matters worse for Belgravia its government, of with the executive branch is led by the Grand Duke and the legislative branch bt the elected Duma, are deeply divided over the Samantran issue. The ruling royal family, House Godunov, which is the same house as the Samantran ex Royal family is fearful that any distancing from Samantra could leave room for Belgravia to become a republic. It is for this reason that they have continued to pursue a pro Samantran policy while the Duma is leaning towards a more distancing from Samantra but is facing serious opposition from the pro Samantran and monarchist factions in the chamber.
The recent developments in Halych (civil war) and Nis( Basnion genocide) has left the Belgravian elite with the impression that Samantra remains Belgravia’s only reliable partners despite some contentious issues regarding Samantran dominance over Belgravian political and social life. The only debate is how close Belgravia should be to Samantra.

Today, the Grand Duchy of Belgravia is relatively poor compared to Samantra, has little diplomatic clout, the identity of its population is split between that of being Samantran or being Belgravian, its population speaks the same language as Samantra and its economy is dependent on Samantra. The ruling royal family of Belgravia seeks to secure its future by marrying the future heir to one of the Rus’ monarchies.

OOC: I figured rather than each of interested parties opening a separate thread, we can all post here.

To: Setri Development Authority
From: Umarov Real Estate Trust

I am contacting you in the name of Umarov Real Estate Trust, a Samantran real estate investment company listed on the Petrograd Stock Exchange. Our company has so far been limited investments to the Holy Kingdom of Samantra where, we are proud to say that are the largest company in our field and own the landmark Rus’ Tower which is home to the Petrograd Stock Exchange.

We would like to congratulate you for your bold initiative in reshaping the real-estate sector of your country and maybe even the Northern part of MidAranye. The real estate sector is one of long term investments and vision and we are pleased that Clysperis is joining the premier league of the real estate sector with such a project.

Following information made public in your nation’s press we would like to make a tentative offer of buying 33 of your Obelisk’s floors for an upfront lump sum of 200 million roubles (ooc: USD). I believe the offer is one that allows both parties to gain since our company will pay the money upfront and wait the years necessary for the Obelisk to be built during which we will be receiving no income whatsoever. Furthermore, should we reach a deal on this investment we pledge that we will recommend your Clysperi Special Economic Zone to other Samantran companies to invest there. While we cannot offer guarantees that our recommendations will materialize in investments we expect they will significantly increase the chances as your special economic zone already offers great incentives and the Clysperi nation has a Rus’ minority that speaks our language.

In the hope of future business cooperation we expect a reply.

Talya Samarin
CEO of Umarov Real Estate Trust

Petrograd Stock Exchange

The Rus’ Tower in Petrograd is home to the Petrograd Stock Exchange (PSE)

Founded in 1800 in the then Kingdom of Samantra it is today the only stock exchange in the holy kingdom. Throughout its history the exchange has been through many challenges especially during the Sacred War (1914-1954) but has managed to remain active since its founding.

Today PSE is a symbol of Samantra's economy, over 500 companies trade on its platform with a total market cap of approximately 100 percent of the national GDP or 3.5 trillion roubles (usd).

Tens of millions of Samantrans invest directly or indirectly in the exchange via the mandatory private pension schemes making the exchange the focus of national attention.

OOC Socialisation / Fleshing out Samantra's secondaries
« on: January 08, 2022, 04:43:42 PM »
My main claim has actually four countries,  three of which Elista, Buryatia, Tuva are one province countries and will be eventually annexed by Samantra.

I am in the process of beginning to flesh them out so if you have ideas about their names ( I am considering changing them since they are based on RL nations/places) and/or have suggestions about what  you want to see in that region of Mundus please let me know. So far the only restrictions I have is they have to be mainly Slavic and fit in the context of the Rodinian sea nations.
