IMPERIALS PACK PRINCE OFF TO UNIVERSITY

It has been a momentous day for the De la Rosa family as today Prince Herminio has enrolled at the Universidad de Ciencia y Tecnología in Ciudad de la Mar. The 22 year old Prince elected to serve two years in the National Pioneers, a body dedicated to aiding in schemes designed to improve the environment and provide support to communities. During his two years he has helped protect ancient terreaced farms, cleaned up rivers and last summer was part of the fire fighting efforts in the woodlands close to the capital. Prince Herminio became a qualified fire fighter during his time of service and received two commendations for his work during the fire-fighting efforts. The Prince was dropped off at the University by his parents and will be living on campus in an accommodation block with ten other first year students and several security agents. The Prince is enrolled on a course to study Emergency Management. Emperor Antionio III mingled with parents of other students within the accomodation and said, "It is important Herminio experiences an education system that does three things. First he must gain a quality education, I think his course sounds interesting and will give him skills and knowledge to help him when he enters Imperial Service. The second thing is that as his new colleagues will be regular citizens of the Empire he will gain an insight into the lives of people he will one day be Emperor of. The third thing is I want him to have fun. University is supposed to be a great experience and he should have that chance to play sport, socialise, make new friends." The course will last four years with his third year being spent working in the industry. It is tradition that Imperial family members who wish to attend University do so after they have performed some service for the nation. Some opting for military service while others doing work in the National Pioneers or similar bodies. Prince Herminio has stated his desire to row for the University as well as joining the choir. The Prince also went on the record to say that he hopes once he graduates to join the Emergency Rescue Service as either a fire-fighter or in some other capacity, this would make him the first member of the Imperial Family to do so outside the National Pioneers.

The Emperors second son, Hector is in his first year working as a guide at the National Memorial to the Fallen. There he is maintaining the graves of members of the armed forces who have died since 1801 and also showing tour groups round the various monuments that make up the parkland that surrounds the memorials. Prince Hector will do this for another 12 months and it is then expected that he will follow in his brothers footsteps and go to University where he has spoken of an interest in studying History. Meanwhile Princess Eliana will this summer sit her 16+ exams which will determine her future. The Princess is currently described as a "dedicated academic" and has applied for some courses to study her National Certificates of Education and then join the nations Navy.

Imperio de la Bahia del Norte

The Empire is a divided entity in many ways. This is largely because of the form its creation took. In the year 856AD traders from ? ? ? ? ? arrived in the region and found a dense forested area. This area was home to many diverse tribes who resided in the forest in small settlements formed in clearings they had made. The traders made a beach-head in what has today become the capital city of Ciudad de la Mar. This small wooden fort became a vital trade port with both the homeland and neighbours. The population swelled and in 980 AD they began opening up other coastal settlements leaving the forest to the natives who by now had a uneasy acceptance of the new arrivals.

The history of the Empire first see's the name Bahia del Norte in 1208 when Emperor Orion the Great declared the land separate from their ancestral homeland and by creating an uneasy alliance with the natives repelled several rebellions and invasions. Once Orion though had seen off these threats he turned on his native friends. In the coming years a religious and physical battle took place to push the natives inland.

Today the natives still live in the forest in areas similar to reservations. There they are left to their own devices and the Empire try and have very little to do with them. They are considered somewhat "uncivilised" still but Bahian's believe they should be left alone more as trying to do anything to integrate them carries a huge economic burden.

Ignoring the native element of the nation the Empire consists of four nations, each ruled by a different member of the Imperial Family.
1. Castromonte
2. Trespaderne
3. Villalázara
4. Rehoyos

Population - 73,274,283 (of which around 3.8million are Native "Forest Dwellers"
Capital City - Ciudad de la Mar (home to around 2.1million people)
GDP per Capita - $31,834
