IMPERIALS PACK PRINCE OFF TO UNIVERSITY

It has been a momentous day for the De la Rosa family as today Prince Herminio has enrolled at the Universidad de Ciencia y Tecnología in Ciudad de la Mar. The 22 year old Prince elected to serve two years in the National Pioneers, a body dedicated to aiding in schemes designed to improve the environment and provide support to communities. During his two years he has helped protect ancient terreaced farms, cleaned up rivers and last summer was part of the fire fighting efforts in the woodlands close to the capital. Prince Herminio became a qualified fire fighter during his time of service and received two commendations for his work during the fire-fighting efforts. The Prince was dropped off at the University by his parents and will be living on campus in an accommodation block with ten other first year students and several security agents. The Prince is enrolled on a course to study Emergency Management. Emperor Antionio III mingled with parents of other students within the accomodation and said, "It is important Herminio experiences an education system that does three things. First he must gain a quality education, I think his course sounds interesting and will give him skills and knowledge to help him when he enters Imperial Service. The second thing is that as his new colleagues will be regular citizens of the Empire he will gain an insight into the lives of people he will one day be Emperor of. The third thing is I want him to have fun. University is supposed to be a great experience and he should have that chance to play sport, socialise, make new friends." The course will last four years with his third year being spent working in the industry. It is tradition that Imperial family members who wish to attend University do so after they have performed some service for the nation. Some opting for military service while others doing work in the National Pioneers or similar bodies. Prince Herminio has stated his desire to row for the University as well as joining the choir. The Prince also went on the record to say that he hopes once he graduates to join the Emergency Rescue Service as either a fire-fighter or in some other capacity, this would make him the first member of the Imperial Family to do so outside the National Pioneers.

The Emperors second son, Hector is in his first year working as a guide at the National Memorial to the Fallen. There he is maintaining the graves of members of the armed forces who have died since 1801 and also showing tour groups round the various monuments that make up the parkland that surrounds the memorials. Prince Hector will do this for another 12 months and it is then expected that he will follow in his brothers footsteps and go to University where he has spoken of an interest in studying History. Meanwhile Princess Eliana will this summer sit her 16+ exams which will determine her future. The Princess is currently described as a "dedicated academic" and has applied for some courses to study her National Certificates of Education and then join the nations Navy.

NATIVE CRUELTY DEMONSTRATED AFTER DRUGS RAID

It has long been documented that Kaqam Native tribes have funded their rebellious attacks on Imperial territory by producing a wide variety of drugs in their jungle clearing. With supplies of cannabis, cocaine and heroin making their ways over the border to Kermah and Abertone the Emperor has made it a priority for the Police Special Operations Force (PSOF) to tackle the problem. Using a variety of methods ranging from crop spraying with herbicides to armed raids the brave men and women of PSOF have made significant reductions in smuggling. Today however the reality of the neferious trade was realised when members of the PSOF, acting on intelligence from aerial reconnessance, conducted a dawn raid on a small village. While the PSOF team initially entered with warrants and  using a variety of non-lethal weapons they were soon drawing fire from Kaqam criminals. As a result PSOF were left with no choice other than to respond in kind. A running battle took place lasting around an hour. At the conclusion of the fighting the bodies of 17 Kaqam Natives were discovered as well as 16 criminals requiring medical attention. Sadly six PSOF members lost their lives. A sizeable amount of drugs were recovered estimated to be in the region of $10million if it had reached the streets. The PSOF also demolished two facilities used to manufacture a variety of drugs.

As the village was searched it became clear that not only was the village being used to grow and manufacture drugs but it was also being used to train Kaqam terrorists. A heart-breaking variety of evidence of women and children being recruited as soldiers were discovered including disturbing family photos showing children as young as six posing with automatic weapons. Commander Artunes entered the village as part of the processing team and said, "I have a deep sadness for the men and women who went into to village. Not only did they lose six of their comrades but they will live in the knowledge that more of them would have died had it not been for their skill at arms. Sadly on this occasion our forces had no choice but to fire at women and children who were indoctrinated into a life of crime. While they have done their duty many will need time to adjust to the horrors they have seen today and we shall do all we can to help them. As ever we are thankful that dedicated police serve the Empire in such trying times."

It is understood that Emperor Antionio III has spoken to the families of the PSOF members who were killed and has vowed that "the Empire will ensure that those families effected by todays wickedness are looked after. The PSOF have today saved countless lives and not just within the Empire. Those whose lives are ruined by these filthy drugs in Kermah and in Abertone will today owe a debt of thanks to these officers." There are calls for action to be taken in future that do not put PSOF lives in danger. Many are calling for the Air Force to do more to utilise airborne weapon systems to destroy farms, facilities and distribution networks.

CLYSPERIES SPEAK IN FAVOUR OF HEARTBREAK

Pharoah Akasha of Clysperies has today used social media to invoke support for the Kaqam tribes criminal activity. In her tweet she stated she will "Not condemn" the group for producing drugs while calling the Empire "Oppressors" while then giving the Kaqam King a virtual invite by stating her "lines are open." The fact that the Pharoah is also attempting to manipulate the world's largest oil and gas exporters into isolating the Empire shows she is bent on attempting to economically damage the Empire on behalf of the Kaqam rebels. Emperor Antionio III spoke about the Clysperis announcement while visiting a centre in Rehoyas where those rescued from the Kaqam are supported. The Forest School project is built just 10km from the the northern edge of the tribes self claimed territory. It is currently home to some 120 survivors and 20 support staff ranging from psychological councillors to doctors and teachers. Speaking to the staff the Emperor said "The work you do is phenomenal. These people have been snatched from their own tribes and made to be the labour force or sexual partners of members of the Kaqam heirachy. Lets not forget the Kaqam have a ritual where they demand that any male wishing to marry a Princess must bring their King a severed hand taken from someone not of their tribe, then at the end of their ritual a man is sacrificed. The Kaqam raid several times a year their neighbours villages leaving them in fear of their lives. During these raids those men capable of work are taken back to the Kaqam's homelands while the women not considered attractive are murdered. Those women allowed to live are raped and sold to their King. The fact the staff take some of the worst treated humans on the planet and give them such love and care is astonishing. To have a foreign monarch support the Kaqam in their endeavours is shocking to me."

Not all of those living at the Forest School though are from other tribes. Kalise is a 20 year old who was found living on her own in the forest. Her story is one of heart-break. At the age of 16 she was selected by King King Calfuray IX as his Sky Queen. Each year the King may pick any unmarried woman from the tribe to be his Sky Queen. Within that year she is the most senior female of the tribe. Kalise says "At first you are proud to be picked. The fact you get a chance to honour the Gods and help the tribe makes you happy. Within weeks though it is clear you exist just to appease his desires. We existed just to produce children. I was unable to and I'm glad as the King was not a nice husband. When the anniversary of becoming Sky Queen came about and I was not with child I was stripped and without any posessions exiled from our land in disgrace. Should I be seen on tribal land for any reason I will be beheaded. I will never see my family again, we are so indoctrinated for the Gods that even they are ashamed of me. During my time as Sky Queen the King took at least four slave girls into his hareem. The villages all had slaves and they lived a miserable experience." Kalise is now studying at school and has regular meetings with a councillor. She is hoping one day to become a teacher at the school.

Having heard her story Empress Valantina said. "Kalise is a very brave young woman who has had to experience more in her short life than anyone ever should. Our actions are designed to halt these practices that are confined to past, more harsher times. The Pharoah of Clysperis has in the past ended slavery in her own nation and even used facilities that had been designed for the Mundus Games to host freed slaves. What the Forest School does is not much different. Our own nation outlawed slavery well over a hundred years ago. We sadly unlike the Pharoah have not been able to wipe it out because we have a physical foe to fight intent on keeping what the Pharoah has called an act "incompatible with Ma'at" from spreading. While the Pharoah's word is law in her land we still have armed elements denying the laws of this land. While our men and women are sacrificing their lives to end this in our country the Pharoah is attempting to make it harder for us by imposing forms of economic sanctions on us while encouraging the illicit drug trade which gives the Kaqam money to carry out their raids."

The most recent government estimates are that the Kaqam tribe have around 1,200 slaves in their villages. The most recent raid freed six who are now being cared for at the Forest School. The Imperial Family have committed to continuing the fight to end slavery and pledged more funding for the Forest School and other centres like it.
