The Church Meets the Winter
« on: April 08, 2018, 05:00:32 AM »
To the Ecclesiastical State
For centuries the relationship of the Ecclesiastical State and the Kingdom of Foxtrove have been less then stellar, mostly consisting of small raids are wars, although with much growth in between those two. However in more recent years, it has appear so that our two great nations have had less than few national meetings with one another, and it is time for that to change in this day and age. We hereby invite to the capital of the Fennenish Isles, Tildam, to meet with Duke Karsten Tuorstuen, and Lordess of the province, Else Gottschallk.

With best of wishes,
King Graham Tuorholm I

The Ecclesiastical State

Greetings be Upon You,

It is with the privilege and pleasure that the Ecclesiastical State shall accept this fruitful invitation, on behalf of Pope Peter II. The Amaranthine Dynasty has always been open to so many peoples and creeds, that this state visitation is to be honored and fulfilled; two of our dynasty's foremost members will more than willingly embark on this journey with an end that will only mean prosperity and cooperation between both nations.

Take Care and God Bless, Sincerely,

Empress Helena Amaranthine of the Ecclesiastical State

Tildam was bustling city, a light snow was falling over the city made from many classical buildings, some from when the city was founded near the sea, and the newer, neoclassical architecture that lay on it's borders. Lordess Else Gottschallk was waiting at the airport the Holy See's embassadors would be arriving at, dressed in 19th century Fenneshian clothing, complete with the bearskin hat, which to her was keeping herself warm as the snowfall began to get more increasling heavy. She was sat down near the private terminals, waiting for the plane to touch down, and was wondering what the Duke was saying or what he was wearing. If she had to guess, early 14th century style clothing from Greater Foxtrove's main isle. She sighed, and soon looked up as the roaring of jet engines roared in, standing up, she went outside to go and greet the guests.

Montgomery and Arabelle Amaranthine, cousins and belonged to the main branch of the dynasty, although not necessarily in the specific family following succession, nonetheless their branch was equally admirable and respectable as any other; When the Empress and especially the Holy Father asked them to represent the dynasty and the Ecclesiastical State, they couldn't simply say no, after all it was considered to be a great privilege to serve on behalf such figures as well as filling the CV. Flying with the modern and sophisticated PC-24 Jet, they immediately spotted the Fennenish Isles as the plane emerged from the thick clouds. They didn't pay much attention as to why they were chosen of all candidates, the most important thing was that this diplomatic encounter went as smoothly as possible.

The jet made its touchdown on the runway and taxied itself to the point of welcoming; The royal cousins exited the aircraft accompanied by the Guardians of the Holy and Eternal Thrones, and quickly spotted the first of their hosts, Lordess Gottschalk. It was good that they brought along some warm coats, even during spring one could never be too sure. They greeted her, Montgomery taking the opportunity first. "Lordess Elsa Gottschalk I presume? Prince Montgomery Amaranthine, an honor and privilege that our eyes were met by yours." he said kissing her hand in the process. "Princess Arabelle of the same dynasty, just a pair of cousins doing the Lord's bidding as they say hehe." Arabelle said, trying to make a small-time joke.

Else gave a bow, the bearskin hat staying on her head as her body became nearly fully horizontal, her older style of clothing made it hard to be so flexible after all. "I assume the sky here was clear?" She led the two envoys in and out of the airport, and into a black car, surrounded by a small motorcade of armoured vehicles. On the way there, she served them drink of their choosing and trying to make small talk, albeit not in the typical Foxtrovian or Fennenish style of talking. Soon however, they reached the walls of the main city castle, the area where the meeting would be taking place. Two royal guards with white and purple markings on their helmets opened the door of the car, and gave them a salute as they exited the car, face unseen as it was covered by a white mask. Leading them up a tower, Else opened a set of doors for them, which led to a room of remarkable size, full of old items and paintings on the wall. In the middle of the room sat a desk, and behind sat the duke they here to meet, Karsten Tuorstuen. Wearing a suit much to Else's dismay, he greeted both the guests with handshakes, before he started to chat with them. "Hello, hello, it is good to see you. I trust my helper has made your acquaintance, yes?" He took a seat behind his desk once more. "Well now, I suppose it is time to discuss with the interests of Foxtrove and the Papacy in mind."

"Lord Karsten and Lordess Else...We would like to thank thee for giving us a 'warm' welcome in such a cold country" Montgomery began as he chuckled a bit. "We do believe as we're sitting here in this fine establishment that both Foxtrove and the Ecclesiastical State have common interests, no matter the differences in language, cultures and religions; one of these common interests is a shared history, the days of Foxtrovian raiders with their best attempts at raiding our coasts to more pleasant and fruitful times of cooperation and mutual trust, as such the Holy Father has taken particular interest in your kingdom to facilitate such positive views."

Arabelle then continued. "From our side of the bargain, the Ecclesiastical State wishes to establish a greater connection in terms of primarily two spheres, namely those of diplomatic and economic nature as well as anything else both sides can agree upon. We usually have a third, main sphere to be included which is security matters, however that's only to those of nations the Holy See consider to be great friends and allies...don't get us wrong, it's just that it's wise to grow this special relationship into something larger. Alternatively the Ecclesiastical State could consider in this proposed security section to provide military protection, unless the Kingdom considers its own capabilities to be enough. Before we present each section in this proposed treaty in a more detailed light, may we then ask our dear hosts what they think are the common interests of both nations?"
