Why the sun god shouldn't pay taxes
« on: October 29, 2020, 10:23:18 PM »
In an alternate reality where stupidity is way more common, the nation of Kopsje has challenged the Sun God Aten to pay over due taxes owed to Mundus. They also want him to register his sunglasses. The room is packed full of people as the court begins.

The jury was made up of lots of people, and the judge was a very stern looking person.

Someone clearing their throat could be heard, as the Kopsje accuser stepped up to give an opening statement.

Good People of this assembly! Today we are all called upon to address an issue of paramount import. Countries require finance in order to function, this is a simple concept yet one that is constantly questioned by those whom seek to undermine and neglect their civic duty! Taxation, is the basic component of a countries ability to function. For how can a government provide for its people without the funds to do so? Today the Republic of Kopsje has challenged, Mr…. Mrs? er-well… One, by the name of Aten.  The defendant, Aten, is in violation of Taxation fraud on numerous accounts. Aten has inhabited a large amount of Kopsje’s territorial  land, inhabitation which as far as the Republic is concerned has not been authorized by any land deed or grant. Yet despite their refusal to obtain proper documentation, by the mercy of the Parliament, Kopsje has allowed Aten to inhabit our lands as a respected guest. However despite this generosity, Aten refuses to pay a simple land fee, one which all citizens are required to pay for the betterment of our country and thus our fellow Kopsjense. Aten, is revered as a celebrity in certain countries, to the point, Aten has numerous properties within the Country of Altromine. Yet despite this excess of assets, the defendant refuses to uphold their civic duty. Such is an insult not only to the Republic but to all citizens on Mir who legally pay taxes to their respective governments.

The Republic also challenges Aten on their refusal to register their polaroid-bifocals as an item of religious properties. As the good people of this court will know, any individual within our Republic are required to register all items of religious nature upon entry into the country. With Aten’s consistent arrival and departure from Kopsje each day, they have neglected to register their polaroid-bifocals thus coming into clear breach of the laws established within our Republic. More so through their influence Aten has caused many individuals to dawn the religious article, potentially smuggling in such items into our country. In a usual instance this would simply be a matter of confiscating to offending item and both parties heading on their way, however on the insistence of the Defendant, the Republic shall hear their defense on why, such a religious item, is in fact a mere article of an accessory nature.

The Republic shall yield the floor to the defendant.

Aten's lawyer stepped up
"These claims are ridiculous!

"Aten annually pays back tax to Kopsje. They just don't realise it. Everyday the lands and pastures of Kopsje are fed by Aten's loving rays of light.

"In fact Aten annually gives Kopsje lots of energy as the sun's rays everyday. This loving gift bestrode upon them for hundreds of years allows Kopsje plants to keep growing.

"Studies have also shown being in the sun increases happiness and cause you to relax."

He smirked.

"So being next to Aten is good for your people Kopsje!

"The sunglasses are non-negotiable by the way."

He cleared his throat and sat down.
