In the dawn of social media and the Internet, fake news, hearsay, and rumors spread like wildfire. The wonders of lightning speed information and the opportunity to easily connect with everyone indeed came with a heavy price. Everywhere were reports of celebrities being caught cheating on their spouses to quarterbacks using steroids to the vice president's daughter's uncertain sexuality. It doesn't take a genius to say that the abhorrent act of sharing these untrue and damaging stories is morally unacceptable, to say the least.
Sometimes, there's a man who dares to challenge morality. A man who rebels for the sake of rebelling. However, in this particular context, the man may just be too stupid to comprehend the incorrectness of his words. The fellow I speak of, a one Mr. Rarry Hoque, has quite a job in politics. He had the ear of the nation's commander-in-chief and yet he comes off as a man of poor education given his numerous press conferences.
In front of national television, as reporters, journalists, and bloggers eagerly lent their ears to listen to his wise words on the government's stance on fake news, Hoque cleared his throat and said, "Fake News is important to our society. Without it how can we learn what’s true news? If we don’t know what’s a lie, we also won’t know what’s the truth? We are a capitalist country; I say it is only fit to have a free market of ideas for they are like commodities, you know."
