Daitōjin Aerospace Companies
« on: December 19, 2021, 10:53:37 AM »
The Daitōjin Aerospace Industry is dominated by six corporations, those being Aizawa-Shinoda, Negishi, Zayasu, Ochiai, Kasori, and Adler. Of these, the first four are perhaps the best known outside of Daitō, owing in part to their significance during the Great War as well as their early work with airliners. Aizawa, formerly the preeminent aircraft manufacturer prior to 1933, was responsible for the construction of the Empire's first indigenous military aircraft, the Aizawa P1, in 1913. Negishi developed the A3N, which catapulted it into the spotlight in the late 1930s, while Zayasu and Ochiai became known for their bombers and floatplanes. Kasori is a newer company, having been founded in the 1970s, and primarily works on UAVs in the modern day, while Adler, a Styrian-based company, is best known for their work with helicopters.

Note: As per regulations, exports by these companies can only be made to nations that have signed the Uppsala Convention. Furthermore, the states which these companies can export to must have the use of slave labor explicitly prohibited before a sale can be made. Other restrictions may exist depending on the piece of equipment being sold.
(Disclaimer: Due to the nature of the RP and equipment used, many pieces of equipment featured here may appear as partial duplicates of other nations. Nonetheless, these have been adapted for Daitōjin details and the sort, as is similarly seen in the case of Achkaerin and East Moreland.)

RoleMultirole Fighter
Air-Superiority Fighter
Trainer
CrewAvailable as a 1-seater (Multirole & Air Superiority) and as a 2-seater (trainer)
Length15.52 m
Max SpeedMach 2.0 (High Altitude)
Mach 1.1 (Low Altitude)

Hardpoints: Total of 13: 1 on Fuselage centerline, 1 on each wing-tip, and 5 under each wing
Other CapabilitiesAvionics
Cost$120 Million
BackgroundDesigned as a replacement for the aging F-24, Aizawa-Shinoda's F-39 was seen as a cost-effective means of supplying the nation with a new military aircraft going into the 21st century. This was due in part to delays in the Next-Gen Tactical Fighter (NGTF) competition, which only saw fruit starting in 2005. The F-39 is effectively an upgraded variant of the F-24, which shows in its remarkably similar, if slightly larger, fuselage.

Aizawa-Shinoda J11As, Type 05 Kotsu
RoleStealth Multirole Fighter
Crew1
Length20.55 m
Max SpeedMach 2.25 at altitude
Range4,489 km
1,287 km (Combat range)
4,500 km (Ferry range)
Service Ceiling20,000 m
ArmamentGuns: 1x 20mm M61A1 rotary cannon, 480 rounds
Hardpoints: 6x under-wing pilons and 2 internal bays with a capacity of up to 2,270 kg
Other CapabilitiesShaped to deflect radar and makes moderate use of radar-absorbent material.
Cost$142.5 million (Note: Not for sale, only posted for information on it)
BackgroundThe outcome of the Air Force's NGTF program, the J11As Type 05 is a capable, if expensive, stealth aircraft meant to chart a course into the future. Sharing design similarities due to the constraints of the technology used, it was first adopted in 2005, although in limited numbers. It was only in 2010 that it saw greater adoption, with the IDAF disposing of some of its older aircraft to make room for it and its naval variant, the A9As, Type 08 (featured elsewhere).

Name of Product
Aizawa-Shinoda J7As, Type 86 Taka
RoleMultirole Strike Fighter
Interdictor
Crew1
Length16.51 m
Max SpeedMach 2.05
Range4,590 km
Service Ceiling15,000 m
ArmamentGuns: 1x 20mm M61 rotary cannon, 511 rounds
Hardpoints: 1 Centerline station, 2 wingtip stations, 16 wing stations (340 kg each)/4 semi-recessed AMRAAM stations, 2 heavy/wet stations, and 2 LANTIRN stations. Capable of carrying 6,803 kg of payload
Other CapabilitiesFeatures a cranked-arrow delta wing as a high sweep inboard panel for low drag at supersonic speeds and a low sweep outboard panel for better handling and maneuverability at subsonic speeds.
Capable of carrying 2 LANTIRN pods
Capable of Supercruise
Cost$73 million
BackgroundPerhaps among the most famous aircraft operated by the IDAF, the Taka is generally an improvement on the J5As, one which, while officially a Strike Fighter, has proven capable of effectively performing other roles. Despite its age, the 35-year old aircraft has proven a formidable foe as late as 2018. Regardless, it has found its home as a capable strike fighter for the IDAF, with the fleet being considered for upgrades in the coming years. It is becoming increasingly likely that the Taka will serve as the basis of what will likely be the replacement for the J9As, already limited by its near-reuse of the J5As airframe.

Name of Product
Aizawa-Shinoda A9As, Type 08 Umikotsu
RoleCarrier-based Stealth Multirole Fighter
Crew1
Length20.55 m
Max SpeedMach 2.24
Range4,489 km
1,287 km (Combat range)
4,500 km (Ferry range)
Service Ceiling20,000 m
ArmamentGuns: 1x 20mm M61A1 rotary cannon, 480 rounds
Hardpoints: 6x under-wing pilons and 2 internal bays with a capacity of up to 2,270 kg
Other CapabilitiesShaped to deflect radar and makes use of radar-absorbent material.
Features variable-sweep wings for use on aircraft carriers
Capable of landing on aircraft carriers
Cost$153.4 Million
BackgroundA naval variant of the J11As Kotsu, the A9As Umikotsu is capable of most of the same missions that the F-42 is. Due to modifications for use by the IDN, it weighs somewhat more and is slightly slower. It is also marginally more expensive, owing to the modifications needed to make it capable of operating on a carrier. Unlike the standard F-42, the F-42N features thrust-vectoring engines.

BackgroundDesigned first and foremost as a carrier-based aircraft, the A8As has seen limited use outside of the navy, where it has performed quite well alongside non carrier-based aircraft. The Karasu is, owing to its wide variety of mission profiles, a capable aircraft for any nation that may seek to operate it.

BackgroundOnce considered quite expensive, the G10Z is a venerable ground attack aircraft operated by the IDAF. Frequently reported as being scheduled for replacement, the vehicle has proven quite difficult for the IDAF to dispose of, owing to its effectiveness in its role. Regardless, it has been reported as of late that the IDAF has been looking into acquiring a foreign aircraft to replace it by the mid-2020s.

Length56.39 m
Max SpeedMach 3.1
Range6,900 km
Service Ceiling23,500 m
ArmamentGuns: None
Bomb Bay capable of carrying up to 23,000 kg of ordinance
Other CapabilitiesCapable of reaching Mach 3.1 at high altitude
Can, in theory, be used as a platform to launch satellites
Cost$230 million
BackgroundDesigned to extend the striking range of the Empire, the P7N has, despite some shortcomings regarding overpressure early on (which were corrected in later iterations), managed to maintain its position as an icon of the IDAF, much like the J7As. The Yoichi is capable of reaching speeds as high as Mach 3.1 at high altitudes and has influenced various projects that followed it. A reconnaissance variant of the vehicle is currently in limited use as well.

Name of Product
Aizawa-Shinoda K8As, Type 88 Wanizame
RoleIntermediate Trainer
Crew2
Length13 m
Max SpeedMach 0.85
Range1,668 km
Service Ceiling15,240 m
ArmamentHardpoints: 5 (4 underwing, 1 under fuselage) for drop tanks, practice bombs, and target towing equipment
Other CapabilitiesLike the T-12, it is just a trainer aircraft, albeit a faster one.
Cost$18 million
BackgroundBased on the design of the J8As, the Wanizame is a capable intermediate trainer aircraft. While in theory, it could be converted to serve as a ground attack aircraft, it is so outdated that it would prove little threat in such a role compared to other, more capable aircraft. As such, the J8As will likely remain in its role purely as a trainer.

BackgroundIntended to replace older models of UAVs, the Koroshi-ya, or Hitman, is capable of both reconnaissance, surveillance, and hunter-killer missions. While somewhat primitive compared to other models, owing to its continued use of turboprops instead of jets, it has nonetheless proven quite successful in its role. Nonetheless, Kasori is reportedly exploring options to phase out the B3K, most notably in the form of the XB5K Karito.
