Arriving at Ashinxao International Airport in a C-24 Antilon, it didn't take too long for Prime Minister Céline Lentz and her close staff to fly from Lionbourg to Rokkenjima, considering the short distance was hardly relevant enough to begin with. This visit to the CSU HQ would hopefully be a quick affair to complete, and she'd likely spend a single night or two at the most in the city. Naturally, the Lionbourg head of government could've assigned this to the foreign minister, though she felt that this would be handled better in person, in addition to her being an ardent supporter of integrating the Grand Duchy with the Union.

As soon as the motorcade finally arrived at the HQ, Lentz proceeded to enter through main entrance and was immediately directed towards a waiting area, where the Secretary-General would sooner or later accomodate her for an interview. She sat down for a moment and rested her eyes, patiently waiting for the important event to begin.

Under normal circumstances Lìosa Càidh, the Secretary General of the Cross Straits Union, would have conducted this interview alone but today she was accompanied by the Chair of the CSU's Council of Head of States Madison Pryde, the reason? Well there were plenty of logistical discussions going on about what the immediate future might be especially with the Cross Straits Community proposal in the legislative process across the membership meant that planning things out was also a necessity.

"Prime Minister Lentz." Lìosa said when the two women found their guest "Lìosa Càidh Secretary General of the Cross Straits Union. This is Madison Pryde she's the Chair of the Council of Head of States and is to some extent on work experience today because she's somewhat learning this part of what I do. If you'd like to follow us we'll get this started."

The trio headed up to Lìosa's office and once there Lìosa walked over to the window and looked out over the city while Madison picked up her notepad.

"Would you like a drink before we start?" Lìosa asked

"Secretary General Cáidh, Chair Pryde...Thank you so much for receiving me, and well...It's safe to say that we do learn about something new as each day passes, no?" Lentz greeted with a smile, accompanying the CSU leadership into the Secretary general's office where they were met by a stunning view of the city.

As the Prime Minister prepared her notes, a question popped up about a suitable drink. "Oh...I'll simply have a glass of water, thanks." she responded.

While Madison sorted the water out Lìosa looked at the Prime Minister.

"Let me explain how this works." Lìosa said "Basically I'm going to ask you a few questions to gauge the suitability of your nation to join the Cross-Straits Union once we've finished the interview Madison will hold what's basically a video conference call with the Union's membership and they'll make a decision. The questions may be generic or they may be specific depending on what the membership wants me to ask about. To begin with perhaps you could tell us a little about Lionbourg?"

"Understood." Céline simply nodded, as she composed herself to answer forthcoming question.

"Despite its small size in terms of area and population, Lionbourg is large when it comes to other factors. For instance, our culture, people, and languages are intertwined with is neighbours New Derusmia and A.S.A, adhering to both Latin and Germanic traditions and customs. Despite the interference of such neighbours in our affairs and independence, we've always maintained our uniquess which is even expressed through our national motto: 'We want to remain what we are'. Still, the average Lionbourger is deeply commited to openness and globalism as long as local rules and regulations are respected. Today, our immigrant population constitutes around 20% of the total, as a matter of fact."

"Our successful and vibrant economy, first founded on piles of coal and iron in addition to wine, has managed to diversity itself into various sectors such as banking and finance, telecommunications and life sciences, just to name a few examples. Finally, it's a land of contrast between tradition where the presence of the pious Christian Church is still strong, and the most extreme social progressive where policies that would make any conservative scream out of horror thrives without restriction, all thanks to an effective parliamentary democracy with direct democratic principles reigning supreme over a constitutional monarchy."

The Lionbourger Prime Minister came to a halt, hoping that this brief description of her country would suffice in the ears of both the Secretary General and Chair. "Thank you so much." She kindly told Madison after receiving the water, taking a few sips as she awaited the response.

Lìosa made some notes "You mentioned relations with your neighbours, I want to specifically ask about New Derusmia." she said "Are you pursuing deeper relations with that nation? We need to know because there's an implication that the Union will have to consider in such circumstances."

"Well...Lionbourg is a member of SANE, which would be fairly indicative enough as to where our countries' relations is currently headed." Céline said, hoping that this wouldn't be much of an issue. "I can also inform you that the Grand Duchy has taken steps towards developing relations further with A.S.A alongside New Derusmia...After all, it's only natural to maintain peaceful and friendly diplomacy with one's larger neighbours, and there's quite the history between all three to everyone's knowledge." She paused and filled her belly with additional water.

Lìosa sighed as she wrote SANE on her notepad in red ink indicating it was an issue of importance and a potential complication though she hoped it wouldn't be. Pausing for a moment she considered her next question.

"So what is it about the CSU that attracts you to applying to join?" Lìosa asked

The Secretary-General's sigh hardly escaped the Prime Minister, who continued to answer another question.

"The CSU primarily attracts us from an economic perspective. After all, some of Mundus' largest economies are member states and it would be a great boon for a small country, like export-oriented Lionbourg, to have its economy integrated successfully. This would be much more effective than forming seperate treaties for each and every nation of interest. The diplomatic aspect is also worth mentioning; Lionbourgers are among the most internationally-minded people despite being keen on preserving its unique culture and traditions at the same time. Joining the CSU would clearly demonstrate that it's part of our DNA by cooperating with other foreign entities for a better world." Céline said smilingly.

Lìosa wrote more notes down so fat at least there was only one probable obstacle so far. Though she did find parts of the latest answer amusing.

"And what do you believe Lionbourg brings to the CSU?" Lìosa asked

Céline opened her mouth. "Despite our country's small size, our economy is highly industrialized and marked by a high export-intensiveness, combined with government policies promoting investment incentiveness and opportunities. Our quintessential sectors would be banking, steel, and wine production, though evidently enough we've managed to diversify it to such a significant degree, that other sectors such as telecommunications and life sciences are now playing a greater role, for instance. The Grand Duchy could also act as an additional role model for successful and fair resolution of inter-cultural conflict to other regions of the world, through the CSU whose membership is diverse in of itself. Lionbourgers may be considered to be one ethnic group and nation today, but in the past we had to reconcile with ourselves when we had to contend with different cultural spheres interacting with one another." She finally said.

Lìosa made yet more notes before considering her next question.

"Where do see Lionbourg in say five years time?" she asked

"Attempting to predict the future is like walking on a thin rope which may snap at any moment..." Celine chuckled, "...though if it would go according to plan, then Lionbourg would become a respected member not just within the CSU, but also the entirety of the international community. It's certainly a lot to live up when it comes to achievements akin to other respected countries known for their commitment towards spreading values such as human rights and promoting humane economic progress. With the help of said countries and vice versa, however, it's our firm belief that so much could be accomplished through the exchange of ideas benefitting the many for the greater good." She ended.

"Ok" Lìosa said smiling "I have one last question to ask and it's my favourite one. If Lionbourg were an animal which animal would it be and why?"

Céline smiled upon hearing the last question. "Given the name of our Grand Duchy, as well as the animal symbol on our coat of arms, it's safe to assume that it would be a lion in its nature, representing courage, strength, stateliness and valour. This is partially the case however, and one could describe it as an animal composed by two beings. The second one would be the white stork, as its espouses purity, motherhood and renewal in one's life. You see, the white stork is a main feature of Lionbourg and is part of our rich folklore, where they are mostly found on roofs of houses, churches and other public buildings. The presence of a nest on a house is believed to protect against fires, and grant good luck in general."

Lìosa smiled and made her final notes before handing the notebook to Madison who left the room. "Thank you for coming Prime Minister, you'll hear from us one way or the other in a few days." she said

Madison made her way just down the corridor to her own office and set to work sending out the information to each of the four Heads of State in the CSU before setting up the video call "Your Majesties." she said addressing the Empress's of Rokkenjima and Kodumaa as well as the Achkaerinese Emperor "Mr President." she addressed the Lakhzov leader "The matter before you is the admission of Lionbourg into the CSU, you have been sent and received I hope the record of the interview carried out. The question is thus is Lionbourg to be admitted to the Cross-Straits Union?"
