The Religion of Arda Tuluva (WIP)
Quote
"A conglomeration and - more importantly - the centralization of many [Arda Tuluvan] religious doctrines, philosophies, and local faiths combined into a central unifying dogma to better facilitate cohesion, and control, across the Empire."

The Arda Tuluvan religion is known simply as "The Faith", or "i Voronwë", it is a quasi-monotheistic faith with a primary, mostly non-interventionist, omniscient god and 14 sub-creators, known as the Valar, "The Powers", who are all worshiped with vying degrees of importance and popularity among the populace.

Tiëlesë

Tiëlesë or Tiëism is a religious or philosophical tradition of Arda Tuluvan origin which emphasizes living in harmony with the Tië (literally "Way"). The Tië is a fundamental idea in most Arda Tulvan philosophical schools; in Tiëism, however, it denotes the principle that is the source, pattern and substance of everything that exists. Tiëism differs from Mindarúcinism by not emphasizing rigid rituals and social order. Tiëist ethics vary depending on the particular school, but in general tend to emphasize láricamë (effortless action), "naturalness", simplicity, spontaneity, and the Three Treasures: ófelmë "compassion", vartelmë "frugality", and firyamë "humility".

Diplomacy and Events / Re: A Tale of Two Goddesses

The Autárimë Empress would have preferred the opportunity to change her garments into more formal vestments when dealing with Lodja's Conclave, however, she did not protest and gave no sign of dissatisfaction as her spirits were lifted from the lovely conversations she had had with the Queen, Ehtelë made no comment about that matter which amused the Empress as he always had something to say when things were "not done in the proper manner". The Empress quite liked the Queen and looked forward to getting to know Viktoriya better. It truly would be soothing to be friends with a peer.

As the Lodjan Queen disappeared into the astonishing garden as Arda Tuluva's Consul of State, Inglor Anordradil, rejoined the Arda Tuluvan delegation, "Lord Anordradil."

"Your Sublime Majesty." He approached with a deep bow.

"Know that We are pleased and desire to proceed."

"Very good, Your Majesty." He bowed again taking some steps backwards as the Queen re-emerged from the garden.

The Autárimë Empress took the flower with poise handing it to Ehtelë. We shall show unity, she signed to him who immediately moved the little blue flower on the left to the right replacing it with the beautiful one that the Queen had gifted.

The Empress wondered if she would have shown the same courtesy as Viktoriya had their roles been reversed, the thought, however, was quickly dismissed for the gesture from Viktoriya had gained Lodja insurmountable hén’póna[1] from Arda Tuluva, though the Empress, ever serene, did not show it she was extremely satisfied by the Queen's actions. It was now clear to the Empress that Lodja's Queen, full of dignity and grace, could be counted a friend. The Consul, though, was visibly displaying his approval and beaming with gratitude, for a man of his station - in Arda Tuluva - exhibiting such expressions was a great sign of respect and admiration.

The Arda Tuluvan Empress singed delicately to her ómari, "His Excellency, Inglor Lord Anordradil, Consul of State, Executor and Supreme Cordon of the Empire; is given leave to speak on behalf of the Daughter of Heaven." Ehtelë Voiced

The Arda Tuluvan Consul stood from his seat, "Your Most Sublime and August Majesty." He said bowing low to his sovereign, "Your Divine Majesty." Again, a low bow to the Queen of Lodja, he turned to face the members of the Conclave and with a slight bow to Besarian Ivanov, "Your Lordship." Then to the council proper, "Noble and esteemed Conclave. Honor and glory."

He was seated at the forefront of the Arda Tuluvan delegation on the fourth row as Lodjan precedent demanded, he walked down to be at the same level as the Conclave, "It is an honor and privilege that I stand before this august body. It is also a great pleasure to represent the Arda Tuluvan Empire in the presence of the Daughter of Heaven and the Divine Queen." He turned to bow to each respectively before facing the Conclave once more.

"The differences between the Great Arda Tuluvan Empire and the Divine Queendom may be numerous. But I say it pales in comparison to the similarities that our two noble societies share. We are both guided by divine will for our sovereigns," he turned bowing low to both the Empress and the Queen, "are the epitome of our nations' faiths: Heaven's Chosen and Sessifet's Guardian." He bowed low again before returning his gaze to the Conclave. Arda Tuluvans were known for their constant bowing, especially when it concerned their empress. "Our two civilizations adhere to a hierarchy that believes all people are born for a specific reason, as such, both Arda Tuluva and noble Lodja created societies in which this concept lays. We both place high value in aesthetics, beauty, and art which are exemplified in all facets of Arda Tuluvan and Lodjan society. Our two nations abide by a similar moral campus of sensuality and pleasure, nations free from the constraints of repression. We are an Empire and a Queendom devoted to stability, tranquility, peace, and harmony."

The Consul allowed his words to manifest looking out on the council as some nodded their agreements, "Her Most Sublime and August Majesty, the Empress - might she live forever - is ever desirous to maintain peace and harmony in Albion, on Mundus. With this grand hope the Arda Tuluvan Empire wishes to forge a strong alliance with the Divine Queendom of Lodja."

The Consul signaled to his attendants who brought documents of the Treaty[2] to each of the Conclave councilors, "For centuries we have known peace between us, no animosity, no suspicion had taken root. Their Sublime and Divine Majesties have formed friendship. It is we; My Lords and Ladies," Anordradil said gesturing to himself and the Conclave, "who govern the temporal governments of their radiant Majesties."

He turned to bow to the Empress and the Queen, "the Goddesses have declared Their intent and I say let Their Will be done." Facing the Conclave once more, he paused dramatically before he finished, "I ask: who are we to question the infallible and ineffable wisdom of our Holy Monarchs?"

 1. Hén’póna, meaning “straight eyes” or “level eyes.” Among Arda Tuluvans, it refers to honor or face, to the ability to meet someone’s eyes.

Quote from: Official Communique from the Arda Tuluvan Empire to the Free Nations of Sirinisi

Unto the Honorable Triarchs of the Free Nations of Sirinisi, Alsial Kodiko and Soa Ustalius; greetings and salutations,

It is with the greatest hope and sincerity that in these uncertain times peace and prosperity can truly be achieved with neighbors near and far. The Arda Tuluvan Empire is ever desirous to maintain and promote harmony in our world; to this end do we happily accept an invitation from the Free Nations of Sirinisi to treat with the Honorable Triarchs in the great hope that friendship and tranquility shall emerge and foster an age of peace and prosperity between our two glorious societies.

Honor and glory.

Sincerely,
Cormarë Vercatauronámë

Links to Important events? Ascension Ceremony of the Autárimë Empress
Biography High Princess Mahtalië is the sister of the late Tar-Ancalimë Empress, who succeeded their grandmother, the former Tar-Valainameldë Empress.

The High Princess joined the priesthood at the age of twelve and rose high amongst the ranks of the faithful. She later became her sister’s principal astrologer. Her influence at Court is quite high, for she divines the stars and has sealed many a doom from her “interpretations” of the celestial bodies.

She is not to be crossed or angered. Though, she puts on a lovely guise of sympathy and compassion, she will ensure all her enemies fall before her. She almost succeeded in securing her position of Highest Daughter, but was out maneuvered by her elder sister.

Princess Mahtalië finds her own children to be lazy and incompetent. She saw great potential in her niece (now the Empress) and helped her secure the position as heir. She has been well compensated since and retains her influence at Court.

This was why it came to great surprise at Court by Séretur’s essay in support for the Empress’ New policies and constructive criticisms therein. Since then, he had earned the respect of many who thought him only a lazy prince. His fortunes and favor at Court have risen greatly.

Though, rumor speculates that it was actually his consort, the Grand Duke Elendil, who orchestrated their rise by writing and issuing the essay himself using the Grand Prince’s name.

Parmassë Canta Harmaron
The Complete Library of the Four Treasuries

During the reign of the Tercenë dynasty’s first sovereign in the 18th century, the Tar-Amatyultarë Emperor (r.1708-1754) commissioned the Parmassë Canta Harmaron to demonstrate that the Tercenë dynasty could surpass the Vildimë dynasty's 1403 Tasarië Encyclopedia, which was the world's largest encyclopedia at the time.

The massive undertaking came to an abrupt halt ten years later after the death of the Tar-Amatyultarë Emperor when the Tar-Téralerimë Emperor instituted her infamous Literary Inquisition. Originally, the Literary Inquisition was set to halt the spread of foreign literature and dogma within Arda Tuluva, but soon turned against Arda Tuluvan writings that were deemed taboo or seditious.

People and civil servants grew to fear the Throne’s notorious Literary Inquisitors, therefore, many refused to turn over works to the Canta Harmaron and many scholars no longer wished to work on the project, thus ending the entire catalogue.

The Literary Inquisition ended with the death of the Tar-Téralerimë Emperor in 1769, the massive Canta Harmaron project was never re-initialized until 2013 by His Imperial Highness, Alcarinqualo, i Herwa'venno, with the consent and backing of the Autárimë Emperor.

The editorial board consists of 382 scholars, chiefly lead by famed writer and annotator of classics texts, Irisanno Mótahellótë and the Noble Consort, Alcarinqualo.

The Parmassë Canta Harmaron collection is divided into four harmanë parts, in reference to the imperial library divisions.

  • Yáparmë ("Classics") Arda Tuluvan classic texts
  • Quentalë ("Histories") histories and geographies from Arda Tuluvan history
  • Ingolmë ("Loremasters") philosophy, arts, sciences from Arda Tuluan philosophy
  • Solestë ("Collections") anthologies from Arda Tuluvan literature
The books are divided into 44 categories and include the Analects of Mindarúcina, Ingolenar, the Book of Change, Great Learning, Doctrine of the Mean, i Varta, Rites of Túrëanë, Classic of Rites, Classic of Poetry, Spring and Autumn Annals, Sarati ar Tengwar, Records of the Grand Historian, Nalma Restanana Turmë, The Art of War, Quetsimar Nóréron, Stratagems of the Warring States, Compendium of Materia Medica, and other classics.

The Canta Harmaron collection includes all major Arda Tuluvan texts, from the ancient Túrëanë Dynasty to the present Tercenë Dynasty, covering all domains of academia.
