Niklas Mendel, Lord of Greenmarsh had barely done anything for the time he had been in the court. He hadn't been talking to the other ambassadors, to the native Lodjains, or even to the Queens-to-be. That really didn't matter as he would be talking to everyone soon as everyone seemed to get ready for the upcoming feast. I haven't even tried out the food here, I wonder how it is.

He got ready, threw on a plain uniform he brought along. After throwing that on, along with his round cap, a few medals and the symbol of his house, he walked into hall and immediately began to look for his seat.

Events such as ambassadorial banquets were not something Zoya had attended much since moving to the Isle of the Goddess, normally she was arranging the dancing or performing as entertainment, tonight though they'd essentially had fewer nobles on the island, many choosing to go home while the day to day business of the island was on hold with the Queen's current condition. She was rather enjoying herself, fine dining and pleasant company. She was sure to thank Rudolph for the flower, of course she knew that it wasn't something he'd have picked himself with the Palace staff ensuring that protocol was observed.

Having completed the formalities at the beginning of the banquet Besarian couldn't help but notice Emalet's eye, but there was little point talking about it, she knew she had the condition and frankly it wasn't really a topic he wished to talk about. When the ambassador brought up the comment on the four girls Besarian lowered his voice so that only Emalet and those immediately around him could hear. "Frankly my opinion is yet to be formed, the Head Priestess will be the one to really assess them, after also Raisia does have an insight into Sessifet's will, something sadly I am not blessed with" he began to explain. "Essentially the guardian must be beautiful, and I believe each of the four ticks that box. She must be intelligent, something I am yet to work out. She must be committed to our nation...well I don't think they'd have exacted themselves to this process if not, and they must be willing to make sacrifices for the good of the nation....all criteria you yourself know well, perhaps it is a shame your a little too old and not Lodjian" Besarian chuckled as he began eating his meal.

The meal went off without much of a hitch, the ambassadorial aspect of the evening over it was time for the ball to take place, a large orchestral style band made their way into the room and quickly began tuning up, something they'd already done once already earlier that day, but with the eyes of the world or more exactly the ears of the world about to focus on them. The bandmaster tapped his conductors baton on his music stand and they began playing. With perfect execution the doors of oak that strecthed from roof to floor on three sides of the hall, young men wearing formal wear, a few in military uniform entered the room along with black morning suit wearing servants who presented the ambassadors with drinks. Several of the young men approached and introduced themselves, some sharing a conversation with  Dragan Knezevic, seemingly knowing him from games of tag rugby that he enjoyed. "Please gentleman allow me to introduce Princess Nessanie, our honoured guest from Arda Tuluva" the men, the eldest no more than ninteen years of age bowed in unison. The other youngsters seemed uneasy about approaching, probably nervous about foreign protocol causing offence. Soon three Chamberlains began calling out names and in pairs girls attending the ball entered the room, they looked nervously around, accepted a drink from the servents and then noticing someone they knew began socialising. The girls were more willing it seemed to approach the ambassadors, after all they had been preparing for this event for the last few months. Several groups soon formed as the room began filling, no one yet was dancing, it was one fatal problem, no one was supposed to dance until the Queen had begun, but that clearly wasn't going to happen. It took a while for the Lodjains to work out exactly what to do, Lord Besarian made his way over to Aliana, "If you'd permit" he offered a hand and lead her towards the dancefloor, pretty shortly after the vast numbers of youngsters filled the floor as the evenings main purpose, mingling and finding love began.

The Arda Tuluvan Princess wore a traditional Arda Tuluvan silken dress known as a arlapil noldorwa, or simply arlapil: it was lightly colored mainly white with blue and purple accents designed with flowers. Like many nobles of Arda Tuluva her hair was up and she wore many golden hairpins, the headdress style was called harcási.

Lord Minister Knežević bowed respectfully observing proper Arda Tuluvan protocol. It was then that the Princess noticed the jade pendant the Lodjan minister was wearing: a five clawed dragon with a ruby for the eye. She shot her servant a glance. This man has the Throne's gratitude. Nessanië was intrigued for this detail was not in any official reports. It was a known fact that Arda Tuluvans recorded and archived everything, no detail was to left out. It was curious why the Empress would have left this out of any report. Interesting. There must be a reason.

Ayane took the gift from Dragan Knežević showing the corsage to Nessanië, the two Arda Tuluvans started at each other for a moment; the Princess' face showed the minutest amount of surprise. She was impressed by this Lodjan's attention to detail. The corsage was made of Bleeding Heart Vine, which was her lucky flower of her birthyear as a Dragon sign. Ayane delicately placed the flower on her mistress' wrist. Nessanië had selected this particular design purposefully as the long, billowy sleeves so common to Arda Tuluvan arlapil fashion usually went to the wrists, this dress did not.

"Dragan Lord Knežević is given leave to rise." The Princess said, "It is with gratitude and joy that I accept this kind gift, My Lord." The Lodjan minister rose upright with a small smile. Such a handsome man, indeed. The Lady Arina had mentioned that he had not yet taken a consort, nor was he courting any noble woman. On top of all that, he has been kissed by fire; a good omen. To the Noldori those with red hair are considered to have good luck, after all, red was the color of fortune and prosperity. He has been blessed by Heaven.

Dragan must have done his research on Arda Tuluvan etiquette as he bowed slightly again before he turned holding his arm towards her, his palm facing the floor and head straight forward. The Princess gracefully set her hand softly on his wrist as he escorted her into the dinning hall, his head never turning to face her.

At the banquet table the Princess spoke and greeted her neighbors according to precedence; first Prince Fiodor of Rhand then Rudolph of Niameck, before they could speak, thus she has absolved them of any faux pas according to Arda Tuluvan social conventions. She was, after all, an ambassador and was in a foreign state, she would need to grow used to the great ignorance of many who did not understand the nature of things. However, most of the Princess' conversation during the dinner had been with the handsome Lord Dragan who had kept the dialogue light and upbeat. He had almost made her laugh, even. Laugh! And three times at that.

After the Dinner was over, Nessanië had excused herself temporarily into an adjourning room so that Ayane could amend her dress. The Princess' long train was bunched up and attached to the back, the other flowing fabrics were shortened, so that none would accidentally step on it during the ball.

"He is a Rat sign, Highness." Ayane said with a smile while she worked. "Most compatible."

"Who?" The Princess said, feigning ignorance. "What are you talking about, Ayane?"

"You know of whom I speak." Her servant teased, "I have also learned that his Celestial month is Wendë."

Nessanië made a quick gesture with her hand. Ayane stopped what she was doing and stood, Arda Tuluvans were obsessed with astrology with many following and observing it most strictly. "Interesting. Compatible on both the month and the year?"

"He is an attractive, intelligent man who has been kissed by fire, Highness. I think he has charmed you, has he not." Ayane said gaining an inquisitive look from the Princess, "Nessanië. I am not blind."

She signed a commanding gesture to her servant who bowed quickly before returning to her duty in silence. Unfurling her fan in a swift motion Nessanië stared off lost in thought.

Once Ayane had completed her task, the two reentered the Ballroom where the Princess gracefully made her way back to her escort for the evening who had been speaking with some gentlemen. Lord Dragan introduced the Princess who nodded in respect to the young lords as they bowed.

She handed her drink and fan to Ayane, ever near at hand, before turning to Dragan, "My Lord, would you honor me with a dance?"

A nap and a new man was born; emerging from his room at the last glimpse of sunlight, Thenn Wulfaric soon heard the unfamiliar bell of the call to the dinner, and, dressed in a Werman variation of white tie, he headed off to the banquet hall, wherein the chamberlain told him rather blankly who he'd be walking with: Katyusha Andronikashivili. The name was not completely unfamiliar him, but even in the haze of the afternoon a slight look of surprise came upon his face as he realized he would be walking and seated with one of the four candidates for queen, or what would be presupposed should the current queen unfortunately expire, a fact which he had assumed, from the nature of her injury, seemed more likely each day. Then again, he knew little of modern medicine outside of wartime practice.

He rendezvoused with the Andronikashivili girl and exchanged some pleasantries, eventually introducing himself as "...a Thenn of Weremark, and one of relatively small importance." He followed up his question rather plainly. "Excited? I certainly would be, in your shoes. Though I, naturally, can't pretend to know the sort of stresses this brand of court life bring." They sat at the banquet table; Wulfaric awkwardly shuffled about trying to find a seat before a courtier inevitably showed him to his place; he then sat and listened patiently as others were introduced and the formalities began, chuckling perhaps a bit too loudly at comments about the perceived intelligence of the girls, owing to comments from Besarian. At one point he did turn and reply to Rudolph, who had asked him and Katyusha, or so he had assumed. "Marvel indeed. Never have I seen a more impressive waterborne structure; this may end up turning me into a sailor." he joked, "I'm a bit of a mountain man."

OOC: Afraid I'm a bit lost; if someone will please guide poor Berengar to where he's supposed to be, they would have my gratitude.

Cardinal Fava, glat that he had the opportunity to attend the night's dinner and ball couldn't have been more joyful to sit with the gorgeous looking Lady Immich who seemed to hold an important and integral role in overseeing these four royal candidates, the one who chose his seating-partner was a clever person indeed. He was wearing still the traditional red outfit known as Cassock albeit added some medals here and there to make it more grander than it was supposed to of various orders that he managed to acquire during his long, dedicated service for the Church. After the pleasant dinner it was time to hit the dance floor with one's partner, so Fava without much words led Lady Immich and began some real small talk.

"So Madame, what could you possibly tell me about our four candidates, one of them destined to accept the soul of Sessifet and become the leader of many peasants out there?...Do you have any preferable candidate yourself? Oh don't worry I won't squeal a single thing, am good in keeping secrets to a bare minimum hehe". He wanted much information he could acquire as it was important to plan the next moves in securing a favorable relationship between the Lodjains and Ecclesiasticals, the holy father understood that it was important that the Albionite nations were standing united and working for the betterment of not just Albion but also the entirety of Mundus, it wasn't the easiest thing either.

Emalet stuck to the outer edge of the dance floor, enjoying spectating and getting to know some of the other people, it undoubtedly helped that she was eighteen years old herself and was potentially more up to date with the various youth trends than some of the other ambassadors were. She paused to glance at her phone when it buzzed, a text from Zoe Why do you want those cards? You haven't played with them in years...Fine they're on the next plane down there. Z xx

Emalet smiled and glanced up spying Katyusha across the room locked in conversation thanks she thought, if not for the conversation with Katyusha earlier she'd never have even considered asking for this.
"Excuse me Miss." someone said "May I have this dance?" Emalet looked at the man who'd spoken, he didn't look more than two or three years older than she was.
"Ok." Emalet said hesitantly, she was rather taken aback by the man, giving him her hand they walked onto the dance floor "So who are you?"
"My name is Kazimir Pavlovic." the man said "My friends call me Kazi, Lady Silvermist."
"That's hardly fair." Emalet said as they continued to dance "You knew who I was."
"Well it's not too difficult to find out who the ambassadors are." Kazimir said
"So what do you do?" Emalet asked
"I'm in computer software development." Kazimir said "Basically I own a small company that develops apps. It's a pretty lucrative area."
"I can imagine." Emalet said

Arda Tuluva

Dragan chuckled as the Princess called him "My Lord" for the second time as she invited him to dance. "I'm afraid Your Highness I am no Lord. That honour goes to my elder brother Lukas, as the second son I simply get to use the family name, its not a bad one I suppose" he mused, "Lukas gets to spend his days with our father learning the duties and such of being a future Duke, meanwhile I got stuck with looking after books of accounting, I actually must have done a half decent job because now I get to go through the nations accounts." He had stood now and was watching a few of the others taking to the dance floor. "Beside it is my honour to be permitted to dance with a Princess, sadly you must lower yourself to a mere Finance Minister" he offered his hand once more and lead them onto the dancefloor amongst the various teenagers they must have stood out, and not just because of the Princesses exotic dress. "So may I ask how a Princess ends up with the duties of ambassador?" He twirled her away from himself and then back as he effortlessly side stepped two less co-ordinated dancers, while he may not have recieved quiet the Lordly education that his brother Lukas had their father had made them both attend dance lessons, Dragan hadn't really enjoyed them but his father had told him one day he'd thank him, until now the closest he'd got was thanking his father for the lessons making him light on his feet when he had boxed a little at University, but now it had him dancing with a Princess.

Weremark

Katyusha sat nervously opposite Berengar as they ate, she was a little taken a back by the question he asked about whether she was excited, it prompted her to have to think for a moment or two, she noticed Anna Utkin about three seats along the table take an interest in her answer, it seemed the tests had begun. What Katyusha didn't know however was whether Berengar was in on it, had the Lodjains put him up to asking this , was it a test to see if she'd be respectful to the clearly time doomed Viktoriya or would she act like a little girl playing Princess. Once she'd marashalled her thoughts she answered, "Its a situation I don't truly wish to be in, I trust though this is all part of Sessifets plan and if she needs me to serve then I just hope I can be a good enough person to carry through her wishes." She cast a sideways glance at Anna Utkin, one of the Conclave hopeful that her answer didn't ruin her chances.

With the meal gone and tables cleared it was time for dancing to begin, Katyusha herself was unsure of what should happen now, she'd been here as a guest last year but never expected to be in the position she was now as a potential Queen. She already had a few young gentleman approaching her, no doubt keen to try and impress a potential future Queen but she thought that perhaps she should be seen engaging with the Ambassadors. "Do you dance Ambassador?" Katyusha asked Berengar, "If so perhaps you can tell me about what your country thinks of future relations with Lodja while we enjoy the music."

The Young Pope

As Lead Lady in Waiting it was Anna's job to know everything there was to know about the Queen, however truth be told she knew little about these four so far, apart from what she'd been told by the Priestesses who'd shortlisted the four girls. "Well, I can't tell you a great deal, we've only known them two days and frankly I'm only attached to Nataliya at the moment. She's a nice girl, probably more worldly wise than most Lodjian girls her age, mainly as she's spent the last year living in The Iwi, it sounds a fascinating nation, I know where CNN allies but I still hardly know about them, I'm learning new things everyday from her."

Anna looked down the table to where the four canidates were sitting, "Katyusha, well she's a popular young lady among the Lodjain social circuit, fashionable, elegant and a skilled musician, she's not been very involved however with the Island's going on since she'd been here, seems to spend all her time with her nose in a book." the red headed girl was engrossed in conversation with Berengar, "Arina is probably the prettiest of them, and she seems to realise it. She's noticed several of the younger nobles, mainly the military junior offices taking note and she's played up to it, she's left University for the year to come here." the young blonde girl was sat talking to Count Cato Irvine. "Finally we have Tatiana. I must be honest I'm surprised that she has been selected, she is somewhat of an oddity for a noble girl, before this chance she was considering a career in the military and she seemingly doesn't worry too much about how the other three girls view her. Stasya has been attached to her and well, she's been rather pre-occupied looking after King David and as such has probably had less guidance than the other three so far."

"As for who I prefer, that is not my concern, Sessifet will guide those who must make the decision and I'll be proud to serve her should I need to."

"Well then, you really got me also interested in this Nataliya, sounds like a wise young lady and wouldn't mind to get to know her better. So may I then ask, if a proper treaty would be set up between the Ecclesiastical State and Lodja, would be after Sessifet has chosen her royal host or would it be possible to conduct one during the process itself, perhaps with one of your closest representatives, second only to the Queen in power hmm? Our nations may be different in many ways, but also quite similar in the same amount. Tradition, order, stability...devotion to the divinity we consider to be the One and True. If you could think about it, Our nations along with Arda Tuluva could truly steer Albion...Mundus...in the right direction, it's about time don't you think? Oh I'm not trying to sound sinister or anything hehe, it's just that it has been a long time since the Albionite nations have banded together for common goals and pursuits, well I'd say this is more than the perfect time, and his holiness in Celestis would certainly agree...He appointed me for this occassion and told me to set up something as long as it took into consideration both parties...otherwise he wouldn't dwell much into what one had to say and such, so quite flexible in terms of negotiations in other words." Cardinal Fava said, as he couldn't lay off his eyes from Lady Anna, she was truly mesmerizing in so many ways.

"Sometimes I wonder where my manners are...have I already told you how stunning you truly look tonight?" As they were continuing with ther dance, the Cardinal reached for a pin depicting Saint Martha, patron saint for servants and in this case ladies-in-waiting, and gently attached it on her dress, fully explaining the saint's story and considered it as a act of kindness and gesture displayed so far towards him. "A token of gratitude my fair Lady...".

Anna had been briefed that she should expect some kind of diplomatic response and she was well versed with how to deal with it after all she had been a Lady in Waiting when Queen Sonja had died and she recalled the briefings from the various ministers then.  "I'm sorry but it would be most out of place me even suggesting what diplomatic means could take place, thats all left to Her Majesty and Sessifet shows that she may well change the direction of our nation, you would be best served waiting to see who shall be in charge six months from now, a candidate to be Queen or Lord Besarian perating with the authority of an imcpecitated Queen Viktoriya,"

Anna was well versed with what was expected between the Laides in Waiting and foreign guests, tat wasn't quiet the same as with foreign ambassados but she was aware of what would be deemed normal protocol. Despite having zero idea who  t Martha was she accpeted her guest affixig his pin. "So perhaps you coul explain who fthis lady was?" she aksed her dance partner.

"Didn't i see you somewhere before?" Rudolph smiled as he approached one of the young men at the ball, firmly shaking the young Man's hands:

"You where part of the Youth last year with the biological photovoltaic experiment! Marvelous scientific work!" handing the young man another Drink he got from a Chamberlain, Rudolph smiled: "But where are my manners, i am Doctor Rudolph of Niameck."

The young man with his black hair and nerdy glasses was mostly taken aback by the sudden interested, fumbling with the glass Dr. Niameck gave him before finally answering:

"Cedrik Morgan, a pleasure Doktor Niameck. I didn't even know it was published outside of Lodia." unsure he looked up and down, wondering if the man even was that much older than him.

Rudolph sipped from his glas, padding the man on his shoulder: "So, picked any universities yet?" eyeing the happenings around them: "There is no shame in staying at home, you can always travel the world once you already have a Title in your pockets."

Before giving him a chance to answer, Rudolph pushed him towards the Prima Ballerina: "She deserves a young man able to dance. See me after the dinner. I think we might have some interesting Scientifics to discuss young man."

OOC: Sorry for the short post, out of town on a job, and only have my phone to post with.

Aliana was thankful for the dance lessons she had received earlier that day as she began dancing with Lord Beserian. She looked around as others began dancing and sighed in relief that she wasn't the only one out there as she looked back at Beserian, calming her nerves.

"This a wonderful ball, I'll have to take some ideas with me when I return home, my Lord." She said, hoping to break the ice to turn towards more important matters, knowing she needed this man on her side.

"Thank you for clarifying the Lodjain diplomatic approaches when a proper Queen isn't present, I understand, and wouldn't mind waiting that long, plenty of time to spend time with those you like ;) As for your question...Martha of Bethany, Virgin, Myrrhbearer, Wonder Worker of Southern Gaul...is a biblical figure described in the Gospels of Luke and John. Together with her siblings Lazarus and Mary of Bethany, she is described as living in the village of Bethany near Jerusalem. She was witness to our Lord and Saviour Jesus' resurrection of her brother, Lazarus. Her patronage includes...oh my let's see if I can remember them all haha, here we go: butlers; cooks; dietitians; domestic servants; homemakers; hotel-keepers; housemaids; housewives; innkeepers; laundry workers; maids; manservants; servants; servers; single laywomen; travellers; Villajoyosa, a random town in ES, Pateros, Metro Lungsod, Quintelia...wooh, that was a mouthful. Well I thought it would suit you perfectly rea´garding your profession and you seem to be great at it...So tell me are there any equivalents in your faith, such as Saints and other holy people besides priestesses and such?"

The evening was proceeding in the manner these kind of events always did, the younger guests slowly overcoming their nerves and beginning to talk to new faces, girls being asked to dance and either breaking a young man's heart or making his evening with their responses. Couples would form, spend some time dancing and chatting and then someone would step in, etiqutte dictating that someone be given at least two dances before being swapped for another partner. Some of the more brazen Lodjain young men tried their luck with some of the foreign delegates, both Emalet and Aliana finding themselves getting rather a lot of attention, after all they were both beautiful foreign girls, something new to the boys of Lodja who were always keen to posses something new, exotic and beautiful, many of the Ladies in Waiting found similair issues of being a centre of attention, especially Roksana and Anna, rumours of Stasya's relationship with King David meaning many felt she was unobtainable, meanwhile Lennox monopolised Jasmina, his hand occasionally wandering south of what was acceptable back placement.

Some of the girls from the lesser noble families saw this as an oppurtunity too here they were able to potentially make contacts with well connected foreign nobles, something that could prove useful to their families, and it also didn't hurt that some like Felix von Neuhafen were rather dashing. The four people however who seemed most out of their depth were the candidates for Queen, a string of suitors and would be new friends followed them wherever they went. Arina Pasternak seemed to thrive on it, playing the various boys off against each other as she selected who from the throng near her to dance with. Across the opposite side of the hall Katyusha's flame red hair made her stand out, but she was engrossed in conversation while dancing with Lt.Col Spartak Fyodorov, a handsome bright eyed 18 year old whose father had spent a small fortune securing his son first his commission in the 3rd Lancer Regiment, one his family had a deep historical connection with, then a week later promotion, then another and another, each costing more and more until after just a years military service he sat at the lofty rank. He had however seen action, of sorts, he had been part of the relief effort of Uppsala and the two shiny medals on his chest glimmered in the evenings candelight. Nataliya had grown tired of dancing and as such had taken a seat with a group of three or four noble girls her own age who had visions of becoming her friend and maybe a Lady in Waiting if their new best friend became Queen. They were keen to hear about her adventures in The Iwi, a land that many of them knew so little about growing up in the protective bubble of Lodjain nobility.

It was only Tatiana who seemed unconcerned about the protocol, she had just finished dancing with a rather dull nerdy looking boy called Osip when a song she loved began to be played by the orchestra, she apologised for Osip and excused herself. Almost immediately a flock of boys made their way towards her and with a simple gesture Tatiana turned them all down, she stopped and closing her eyes envisaged herself moving in her long flowing white dress to the music, miliseconds later thought had become motion and raised on her tip toes she swept her arms in an arc around herself, her torso flowing after it, alone she twirled and skipped the dance floor with a feather like motion, several people now noticed and stood watching in a mixture of surprise and amusement, what was this girl doing?

Across the other side of the room Besarian had been dancing with Darya Natalka she was the daughter of a close family friend and she had been sat alone, wishing to stay in Duke Natalka's good books Besarian had asked her to dance, knowing several boys seeing him taking an interest in this young blonde girl would cause them to in turn take interest. As they stopped to stare at the now leaping Tatiana a smartly dressed uniformed soldier approached him and whispered in his ear. "My apologise Darya, I have business to attend" without a backwards glance the Lord of the Conclave followed the Sergeant across the dancefloor, almost colliding with Tatiana who now almost had the dance floor to herself, but the Lord never registered the close encounter and continued single minded towards the door. Outside two men with chests full of gold braid were seen in conversation with him.

It was as though Dragan knew something was happening, he had been enjoying a pleasant evening with his Arda Tuvalun Princess and for once he wasn't hating a ball, but his senses told him the evening was about to change. "My apologise Your Highness, I must check on something" he looked quickly around him and noticed Vladimir Silimov, a promising young Marine officer who had been in the Queen's favour for some time, bodily Dragan grabbed him whispered into his ear and then left.

"Your Highness" Vladimir bowed his eyes at the floor, "If it would be acceptable I would like to ask you to dance." his eyes at the floor the whole time.

Dragan had now joined Besarian, "What's happening?" the Finance Minister asked as he approached, "Can I help?" the trio of men, Besarian and the two officers turned to face him. He noticed the men shifted uneasily for military officers, Besarian seemed a little wobbly as he took tiny paces in an almost circular route, clearly thinking deeply.

"She's gone" was all Besarian said, "It's insane....you're sure" he turned back to address the Army officers who had just arrived from the military barracks.

"I'm afraid so Sir" the mosts senior, a Major in the Warriors of Gaia replied, Dragan now noticed tears in his eyes.

"Her Majesty was murdered about thirty minutes ago, the High Priestess....former High Priestess...Raisa Chowynk shot her, then herself. It was insane" the man added as an after comment. "There was nothing we could do....nothing anyone could do. We've Baron Roman under guard, I mean what the hells he thinking, he lost his wife and his aunt in one go, she was like a mother to him." the officer clearly was in shock.

"Thank you gentleman" Dragan stepped in to assume control. He turned next to Besarian, "We've work to do" their usual animosity towards each other had gone and the seemingly new assertive nature of Dragan snapped Besarian back to the present. "We need the body bringing here now, it needs to go into the crypt before sunrise, that's tradition.....shit..." he blasphemed, "We'll need the Ladies in Waiting, or two of them, who isn't pissed?" he looked back into the room searching for the girls. "Bollocks" he muttered under his breath, "Half the fucking ballroom is watching us" he grabbed Besarian by the elbow and guided him to one side of the door.

"We'll send Stasya and Jasmina, they've been dancing most the night, I've not seen Stasya touch a drop of booze" Besarian was removing his phone from his suit pocket. He guessed they probably had twenty minutes or so before the news hit the world and then it would be crisis management, at least they had the four candidates already in the Palace. Suddenly he looked back up, "If the fucking Priesthood is in on this then are we safe?" he asked Dragan whose eyes widened, if this was part of some Holy conspiracy of sorts the room next door had about ten Priestesses in acting as kind of chaperones for the dance.

"Calmly, we get Stasya and Jasmina to escort the body, we get Anna and Roksana to get the four girls to their bed chambers" Dragan suggested and Besarian nodded. "I'll get Stasya and Jasmina" Dragan took a deep breath and calmed himself walking briskly back into the room, he took hold of Jasmina's elbow guiding her away from Prince Lennox without a word and then motioned for Stasya to follow him, things were time critical now, the press would soon have the story and getting the body out of the barracks respectfully and securely would be harder. The quicker the escort arrived the quicker the body was back on the island. Dragan suspected people would have eyes on him watching the way he was escorting the two ladies from the ballroom. "There is no easy way of saying this" Dragan breathed hard, "Queen Viktoriya has been shot by the High Priestess, you are to go and help escort the body here, your duty is to ensure the body is treated with the utmost respect." Stasya was stood wide eyed, already crying as Jasmina's legs seemed to buckle, Dragan then cursed once more he was in full view of the ballroom, "Shut the bloody doors" he said to himself more than anyone but a guard did as he had said shutting the scene away.

Besarian meanwhile had found Anna speaking with the Cardinal, "Sorry sir" Besarian didn't wait for any reply instead taking Lady Anna to one side, "We need you and Roksana to take the four girls to their rooms now" the Lord of the Conclave realised he had spoken rather louder than he had intended and did his best to smile and nod at those who had turned around. He lowered his voice, "This is a security issue....please" he added.

"She's dead isn't she." Anna whispered, Besarian confirmed with a nod, Anna's eyes closed as she bit her lip, this was the 2nd Queen she had experienced dying and this felt much more hard than the death of Queen Sonya. "I'll get it done" Anna disappeared off as Besarian wondered what should happen next, moments later he saw Anna lead three of the girls from the hall two guards falling in behind them before the ballroom doors shut, only Tatiana was still in the room, the solo dancing making it difficult for Roksana to get the entranced girls attention, in the end Roksana just grabbed her and gently manouvered her towards another door before disappearing with her own escort. Besarian heard around him the mutterings of people wondering what was going on, their time window would be running out and he hoped the Ladies had their work done before the inevitable media descent upon the Barracks would slow the process of bringing the body back. He felt his phone buzz in his pocket and looked down at the text. "IS SHE DEAD!" was all it said and a web link, it seemd their window was bang shut now, one of the soldiers at the barracks must have talked to the press and already a local news website carried the headline, "Queen Murdered on sick bed" , Besarian felt sick. He made his way to where the bands conductor stood and motioned for him to stop, many checking their watches, it wasn't yet midnight, still far too early for such a ball to end. "Ladies and Gentleman, honoured guests" his voice croacked as he began to speak. "Moments ago I was informed of the sad passing of Queen Viktoriya, Guardian of Sessifet" Around the hall their were gasps and several of the guests began crying accepting hugs from those around them, one girl even feinted. "As such I will be requesting that we end tonights ball. My apologise" he left the platform and began heading for the door leaving Duke Maxim Schnoor,  Lord Brayan Coxovich and Duchess Anna Utkin to work out how to get everyone to leave.

Rudolph had decided to mostly dwell on a Balcony sipping away from a drink. There had been roughly six different ladies trying to get his attention, but it wasn't exactly his liking. He had been dancing with two before securing himself a silent place at the fresh air.

The music suddenly stopping made Rudolph check the announcement, grimacing as he shortly did fold his hands together: "May she rest with the Spirits of the Divine."

Making his way past the various people panicking and flocking the Hallways, he had almost reached his Appartement as he noticed Cedrik Morgan whimpering checking his Smartphone, whipping his eyes before sobbing again:

"Mister Morgan." Rudolph said, before approaching the young man from earlier the evening.

"She didn't just die." Cedrik sniffed, not even looking up as he watched a small snipped of Video snatched from outside the Barracks: "She got murdered."

Rudolph raised a concerned eyebrow: "I am sure that last part is just rumors that will be washed away tomorrow." unlocking the Door to his Appartement, he pointed for Cedrik to follow: "I am sure the staff would appreciate less people occupying the hallways in this crisis."

He made some Tea for himself and the Distraught Debutante, filling some fine porcelain Cups with goldne trim and added some Rock Candy before stirring with a fine silver spoon: "I understand the Death of a Queen especially one so beloved as Viktoria, to pass so tragically..."

It wouldn't be until the next morning that Cedrik would be seen by staff members leaving the Ambassadors rooms.

How Emalet got back to her room she didn't know, sitting on the edge of her bed she picked her charging phone up off the bedside cabinet and placed the call she'd known she'd likely have to make but had hoped she wouldn't have to.

"Hello?" came the male voice on the other end of the call
"Your Majesty." Emalet said, she'd called the phone of Emperor Peter
"Emalet." Peter said "How's Lodja?"
"The country's beautiful." Emalet said "Though it lost some of its shine tonight."
"It's happened hasn't it?" Peter's voice suddenly far softer and less formal
"Yes." Emalet said "She's dead."
"How are you holding up?" Peter asked now concerned for his ambassadors wellbeing
"Ok I think." Emalet said "She was just a year older than me. No one that young should have to die."
"I agree." Peter said "Get some rest Emalet. As of tomorrow you need to be firmly on your toes." he hung up

Emalet threw herself onto the bed she knew what Peter meant, there had already been an atmosphere of contingency around the Palace, the four candidates assembled but as long as Viktoriya had been alive they were just that a contingency plan after all where there was life there was hope. Now with Viktoriya dead those four candidates knew where they stood without question one of them would be Queen, in the novels she'd read this sort of situation usually led to behind the scenes shenanigans as those in place vied for power, it had happened throughout history and still happened across Mundus behind the scenes of every government trying to get a law through the legislature, it probably happened at the College of Cardinals when a new Pope was being chosen, now chances were it could happen here. Despite what Besarian had said and what she'd overheard others say this was all about  behind the scenes power now. Who was going to be chosen? Well that depended on what the people with the power wanted, rumor was Besarian had wanted Lady Jasmina for Queen over Viktoriya, easy to see why given they were supposedly lovers a thought that backed up the glances she'd seen during dinner, would Besarian want that kind of control over the next Queen? Well the game was on now wasn't it?

The evening was a blur for Stasya, first they'd been taken to the Palace roof terrece which doubled up as an emergency helipad, a sure sign to everyone in the islands lower dwellings that something was happening. The pair had of course flown in helicopters before but this was strange, this was a military one and the loading bay contained a glass coffin and several boxes, something that the military had obviously been planning for some time. The two girls didn't know that several of such glass constuctions had been prepared, but each of them sat in silence on the short flight to the military hospital. As the aircraft passed over the gates of the base a crowd was already visible in the evening, lights from cameras of newscrews illuminating the darkness beneath them. The rear of the helicopter opened and the soldiers unsecured the coffin and a few hoisted the boxes in their arms as they moved silently out of the hold followed by the two ladies in waiting, the group were shown into the hospital itself armed men still visible at most doors. They passed a room where Stasya spotted the weeping mother of the Queen being held by one of her two husbands, she thought of Princess Alana, the young girl idolised her sister and was probably back on Tar Island, was she even aware of what was happening to her sister here? Stasya put the thought to the back of her mind as they reached the door of the Queen's room, military police and medical teams had just finished doing what they could to clean the room and in the case of a trauma doctor patch the body up. The two girls embraced each other before entering fearing what they'd see, Viktoriya was lying on the bed, crisp new white sheets had been prepared and a bandage around her head hid the bullet hole. Groups of soldiers laid down the various boxes that were needed and the two girls set about their task. First a bowl of sacred water was prepared along with a bar of salt soap, a native specialism for funeral rites, Jasmina washed her own hands with the soap before beginning to wash the Queen's body, it wasn't the first time they'd bathed the Queen but it would surely be the last. It took them a good 30 minutes to first wash the body, dry it and then sew the bed sheet around the body, both girls embroided beautifully and it was as though every stitch had to be perfect as Jasmina worked South to North and meet Stasya in the middle, leaving the smallest of holes near the belly button they wrapped a ball of salt into the sheet before sewing the whole thing closed. The body was now ready for its transport, traditional dictated that a simple horse and cart take the body and one had been standing by in a hanger of a cavalry regiment on the base since the Queen's condition was known.

As the soldiers helped carry the body outside, place it in the glass coffin and then load it up the two girls nervously noted a large crowd of media and onlookers at the gate, the bases units slowly one by one appearing and then heading to help push the crowd back. Stasya was helped onto the cart by a Sergeant who clearly had tears visible on his cheek, he turned helped Jasmina and then returned to his post never turning his back on his fallen Queen. "It's time" A Major is a smart blue uniform had arrived on horseback accompanied by twenty of his unit, it would take them a good hour to get back to the Island and that was without the gauntlet they would have to run. Behind them the soldiers from the helicopter were now clambering into a four wheel drive vehicle and beyond them Staysa spotted the unmistakable scruffyness of a Red Legionnaire, three beareded and irregular uniformed men clearly here helping train the Lodjain special forces, who would now provide security for their Queen's final tour of her city.

The gates opened and the soldiers lining the road almost buckled backwards under the pressure of what appeared to be hundreds of spectators, word had spread quickly of the Queen's death and many of these had come to say goodbye, for some it had been just a little over a year ago since they had done likewise for Queen Sonja, but that day had been one of celebration, rightly so for a Lodjain Queen as her duty was done and she was now gaining her reward for service to Sessifet, however for Viktoriya that seemed ill-fitting, she was still a girl, barely 19 years of age and her death was not something to celebrate. The grim convoy plodded out the gates, Stasya shielding her eyes from the high powered flash bulbs as the media captured the image of the shrouded Queen being taken home.

Back in the Palace the Conclave had largely ignored the ambassadors, no doubt they'd be things to attend to in the morning, questions to answer and statements to be made, but for now it was about coming to terms with what was to happen. Besarian had by now gathered his thoughts, a large gulp of vodka helping settle his nerves. He had turned the now empty ball room into a council room and the Conclave began discussing what they needed to do in the coming days. Down the table was Dragan, he'd already marshalled his folders for various matters including the Queen's finances, these would be now passed onto whoever succeeded her and as such he publically announced the balance so he couldn't be accused of any misdeeds in the coming days. He knew games would get played, he'd heard of such things the last time, however they had been before his time on the Conclave, he was determined to steer clear but ready to intervene if he saw things getting out of hand. Out of all the Conclave he knew it was likely Besarian would be the one, after all he was most likely to be first considered for replacement, and to preserve against that he'd persuaded a niave Viktoriya to fill the Conclave with several of his backers, perfectly placed now to get his candidate on the throne, but which one was it? Dragan determined he'd watch and see which girl he seemed to favour time wise and then if he considered them a bad choice he'd do something, he wasn't sure what but he figured he was a pretty good improviser.

The sun was beginning to come up before the body arrived in the Palace, the cart now covered in flowers and tokens of affection. The Palace staff came to the entrance and stood in a kind of unofficial guard of honour as the coffin was moved through the Palace to the underground temple complex where it would rest now until the new Queen was choosen, tradition dictated they had a week to do so. As the Conclave returned to the ball room in search of coffee and the beginnings of an agenda for the day ahead they found a woman already sat at the table, clearly having ignored the Queen's arrival. "Gentleman" the woman was sat in Besarians seat with her feet on the table as the group entered, "Oh....beg my pardon, Lady and Gentleman" she corrected herself as Anna Utkin arrived, the nations first female member of the Conclave. The woman made no effort to move as the group surrounded the table, " Alla Kohut" she introduced herself while still seated, "Late last night the Supreme Court named me the interim High Preistess, so I thought I should introduce myself, no need for me to get up" she gestured for everyone to sit, Besarian looked confused as there had only been enough seats for the Conclave and now his was taken, he eventually picked up one from a nearby table left from the dance and put it close to his old position. "Now, you may have some ideas but frankly the process of selecting the Queen is down to the Priesthood, you simply vote on what we find out. So in......" she looked at her watch, "five hours my apprentices will be waking each of the candidates and taking them to pray next to the Queen's body, one after another, then they will come and stand in front of me in a public interview, no preparation." It was only now she stood and turned to the Conclave, "Oh and no fucking any of them, it'll just put me off picking them." she smiled began striding towards the door, "Particularly you Besarian" she shouted back without breaking stride.

Lady Anna Immich had managed to get Katyusha, Nataliya and Arina back to their rooms without anyone stopping them, two rather angry looking soldiers had helped a great deal in that manner and now she found herself slumped with her back to her bedroom door feeling a mixture of exhaustion and saddness. The cold stone floor somehow seemed a comfort as she allowed herself to cry, she had managed to hold it back in front of the three girls, with Arina being the only one to seemingly not react. She had intended to wait for the sound of Roksana returning but the weight of her eyelids became too great a struggle and so sat on the floor she drifted off.

Roksana had a more difficult time with Tatiana, the girl had burst into tears when Roksana first told her the news of the Queen's death as they'd left the ball room, but it seemed like the fresh night air had triggered a switch, suddenly Tatiana's tears had gone and the teenager began handing out hugs to those girls leaving who seemed distressed, in the end Roksana had ordered the two soldiers to literally drag the candidate away. "Why did you stop" Roksana snapped as they entered the girls chambers.

"If I'm a candidate then the Priesthood think I posses something that Sessifet admires, the Goddess wouldn't see people so upset and not care" it was strange, Tatiana was taking deep breaths, breathing out heavily through her mouth, her eyes closed clearly trying to compose herself as tears began to form at her eyes. The exercise was fruitless and before Roksana could say anything Tatiana began crying.

"I'll get you a drink, they say tea is good for shock" Roksana began to make her way towards the suite's kitchen but never got far.

"Vodka is better" Tatiana said as she reached under her bed and dragged out an unopened bottle, it wasn't like the girls weren't allowed alchohol in their rooms it was just that Tatiana felt it wiser to hide the fact she enjoyed the odd Vodka and Orange. She opened the bottle and took a unhealthy sized swig, the firey burn making her splutter as she held the bottle towards Roksana. The two sat for half an hour, the Lady in Waiting trying to comfort the young girl who seemed nervous about what awaited her.

"You should sleep" Roksana stood from the bed but found herself stopped.

"Please, stay...I don't want to be on my own" Tatiana had a surprising strength and her grip seemed determined making Roksana retake her seat. "Stay with me" Tatiana placed a hand on Roksana's cheek and kissed her lips, "Please" she added as once more moving her lips to Roksana.

"Yes your holiness, the expected happened at last...May the Heavenly Father embrace her soul and may she rest in piece...Understood, I'll see to it and...Indeed, better to get some rest first, I'll call you again once I got more info in my hands, good night and sleep tight holy father. Ciao."

This seemingly nice evening turned into a complete mess when the Queen finally hit the bucket; handmaidens wailing and crying, ambassadors reporting back home not fully knowing what to do next rather than spending time in their bed rooms and God knows what, wouldn't be surprised if some comforted themselves by engaging in sexual activities right within this hour, as a way to receive cheap and lustful anesthesia to dull down the pain over a leader many revered and loved til' the bitter end. In any case, as much as Cardinal Fava respected the now deceased monarch, he didn't want to waste time and shed fake tears for someone he hardly got to be close with; insetad of now trying to head to bed at this early hour...well still early for him to say the least, he figured he could get out of his private quarters and pay a visit to that young and sweet Lady Immich, probably wouldn't mind some company from a man such as himself.

Cardinal Fava made his way quietly to the Lady's chambers and with some courage and hope, he knocked firmly on the door. "Anna, I'm sorry for disturbing you at this hour but do forgive me...I would like to have some company, someone to talk to during these sad times and if my judgement is completely correct and true...you wouldn't mind having one too? I got with me something to eat...well, more like chewing hehe"

Rudolph was enjoying Tea on an open Balcony, accompanied by small biscuits and a Tablet. Much like his Studies he had picked this vantage Point to observe his surroundings. Who entered with whom, walked with whom, talked with whom. Small notes filled his Tablet while sending small notification to his Grandfather over the Lodian happenings. He had resigned to consider the Court his new Biology project for Studying Animalistic Social Behaviour.

Only a new addition to the court walking past picked his interest enough to stand up, and walk over to greet her:

"Good day, my Lady. I assume i have the honor of Greeting the new High Priestess?" Rudolph had picked up some talk from passing Servants, and the clothing and stature did fit:

"I am Dr. Niameck. Just a short Question i did get from our High Priesthood back home in Uburzis, asking what they should pray for since they are not too Familiar with your Costumes, or if you would feel offended if they included you." glancing over at this Tablet, he shook his head mumbling to himself: "And i will not forward the next question because that's inappropriate right now."

Alla stopped her determined walk as Rudolph approached, "Well you're partly right, I'm in Interim High Priestess, first one we've ever had, probably the last one too." She tried to work out who this man was, her role within the Priesthood meant she had no real reason to deal with foreign diplomats and as such she was trying her best to work her way through this conversation without offending anyone. "We have an issue that the High Priestess is appointed by the Queen, well that can't happen." she shrugged, "but then the issue is the High Priestess recommends who should be Queen to the Conclave, so we're kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place." She considered Rudolph's next question carefull, " I have no worry about what someone prays for, more who they pray too, if however it serves some purpose that diplomats concern themselves with then feel free to tell your Priesthood to pray to give the four girls wisdom. In about six hours time they'll be on public display being interviewed by me, and anyone else who has questions, so feel free to pop along, bring a question or three" she added.

Down the corridor Anna Immich had been about to nod off when the knock came at the door, it was rather odd to have someone she hardly know come and knock on at such a time but she dragged herself to her feet and opened the door, "Cardinal" she said trying her best to seem more awake than she was, the Queen may be dead but her instuctions were to be polite and helpful to the ambassadors so Anna did her duty. "How can I help you?" she stood aside allowing him to walk into her living room.

"Technically our People Pray to Divine Aspects. Instead of humanized Deities we rever a Pantheon of Principles if you want to call it that. We do however have a concept to Pray to our ancestors for Guidance instead as well, as we believe we become one with the Universal Divine upon Death. So i could for Example tell them to Pray to the former Queens in their function as Vessels, or to Wisdom itself. In Theory praying to Sessifet would be Possible, but they wouldn't Pray to her as Godess."

Rudolph nodded to the set of Chairs he had arranged on the Balcony: "Some Tea for you as well? Your Country does provide some fine Herbal Mixtures i started sampling since i arrived."

Sipping from his cup Rudolph glanced over the people busily preparing for whatever Ritual was necessary: "My Pardon. You probably don't even know what Country i belong to. Ambassador for Uburzis. Talking about that as well, with the Difficulties ahead, would you mind to remind the, i think you call it Conclave, to have a representative arrive at our Emperors Coronation? The Kid could use all the Encouragement he can get."

"Oh glad that you were awake still...once again I do apologise for my intrusion during the late hours of the night and frankly I would never march upon your door like this, but with recent tragic events and the chaos that has been in motion since these past few hours already, I needed someone to talk to, clear one's mind and all and I assume ddeply inside you wish the same as well? To make this worthwhile, I brought with me some goodies...chewy and delightful, right here in this ornamenful box."

As the cardinal went in her room he glanced at the set of chairs and a table where he put the box of goodies. "The Holy Father in Celestis sends his most deepest regards and prayers, may the new Queen leader this nation as well as the previous and even to greater heights" he began to say while taking the opportunity to sit down, although halfway through the process he noticed a kettle and a few tea bags. "Mind if I made some for us?" he asked while glancing.

Alla couldn't think of anything lower on her priorities than speaking to the Conclave about some child's coronation, especially one that worshipped some inferior God, not even a Goddess probably, however saying so to this man's face probably wasn't the most diplomatic way of dealing with the situation. "Of course" she said, "I'm afraid I must get going" she began to walk away before stopping and returning, "It is my hope that pretty soon the four girls will appear in public for a little grilling, I'd hope you and your ambassador chums can think of some taxing questions, let me know if you do." she resumed her walk away heading for her chamber in order to quickly change into some more official looking robes.

Anna politely accepted the cup of tea and snack, she frankly didn't care less about this man and his "Holy Father" after all there was only Sessifet and her ever watchful ever caring embrace, the Mother of all things. She still didn't understand why the Ambassador had come, he'd not really explained what he wanted to talk about, and it wasn't like he'd a close bond with Viktoriya, Anna on the other hand had seen her every single day with few exceptions since she had taken the crown. "So what would you like to discuss?" Anna tried her best to sound diplomatic.

As the pair spoke their was a knock on the door and then an envelope pushed under the door, Anna knew this was often how the staff of the Palace passed messages late at night unsure whether an open door may lead to something embarassing for those inside. Anna stood and retrieved the envelope and carefully read the information inside. "It would appear that in the morning the four candidates will be taken to the Temple of the Goddess, to pray with the temporary High Priestess." she relayed the information to the Ambassador, "Then the four will be taken to the Queen's throne chamber and there the ambassadors will, along with the High Priestess and Conclave get to question the girls." She assumed that as they spoke the other ambassadors and Conclave members would be getting similar invites.

In Tatiana's room it was Roksana who retrieved the letter and placed it on the girls bed side table, she waited for Tatiana to reappear from the shower and handed it her. The girls face went pale, she handed the letter to the Lady in Waiting, "What do you think this means?" the teenager asked nervously.

"It means this new High Priestess wants to test you, see what your like when in front of important people." Roksana figured this might be a problem from Tatiana, after all even in the few days she'd observed her it was clear the girl wasn't the most conventional of the candidates, she was pretty of course, all four where, but she lacked the refined elegance of a Queen, the exception being when she moved to music, then she had the grace of a sprite floating above the land. Even the way she'd ignored would be potential suitors during the dance would have been noted. "Can I give you some advice" Roksana smiled at her, "Before you speak take a deep breath and think what would a Queen say, remember they need you to be in tune with Sessifet."

"What if I don't want to be Queen?" Tatiana asked matter of factly.

"Then you're free to go home." Roksana replied just as honestly. "But I think you'd have done that by now" between their love making they'd chatted and it was even clearer now to Roksana that this girl was not exactly nervous, she may be unsure how things worked in terms of diplomacy and the like but she was assertive, she knew her own mind and was confident enough in herself to get what she wanted. "I should go back to my room and leave you to prepare, I'll be back in five hours." Roksana stood conscous of Tatiana's eyes on her naked body.

"If you're the one escorting me then you may as well just stay" a deftly placed foot and gentle push put Roksana back onto the bed, "Beside I might not get chance to do this again if they kick me out the running tommorrow" Tatiana chuckled as she joined Roksana on the bed.

Ariana Pasternak had recieved her letter while asleep, the knock on the door alerting her to its prescence. She had read it carefully and knew from the wording to expect one of the Ladies in Waiting to come and get her in the morning. Ariana wanted to be ready, she knew this new High Priestess would be judging them straight away and so Ariana began the painstaking process of getting ready even though the meeting would be five hours away, beside she'd be so nervous now she wouldn't be able to sleep. She began going through the wardrobe she had brought with her attempting to find something that looked mournful enough for when they prayed over Viktoriya's body, while at the same time making sure it showed off her figure. She'd seen the way several of the young men at the ball had eyed her enviously and knew the Goddess was delighted by physical beauty. Having selected a rather elegant black dress she next began holding up jewellrey and accessories to determine what would be a good mix, she gathered it would be useful to appear wealthy but understated and so was desperate to find the perfect combination.

Nataliya however was taking a slightly different approach, with the Iwi being several hours behind she'd Skyped her father, an ambassador to the Iwi he was well versed in international diplomacy. The pair spent the next two hours discussing various situations around the world and what could hyperthetically be done about them, Nataliya was confident that out of the four she'd have the greater knowledge on such matters but it didn't hurt to use what resources she could. The practice interview over she chatted briefly with her Mother about what outfits to wear and was reminded to wear her Maori fern leaf pendent, "It doesn't hurt to show them you know of other cultures, its not like where isolated anymore." Nataliya nodded her agreement and took the jade coloured curled emblemn out of its box and laid it out beside her table. She had two hours left and so tried to get a quick nap in to ensure she had her wits about her in the morning.

Katyusha was probably the least nervous of the four, as a social media celebrity in her homeland she'd got used to the attention and chatting with large groups. She had looked into Viktoriya's life before she became Queen and had determined that if anything she was a better student, more worldly wise and most importantly popular. The fact hundreds of thousands knew about her already had to be a bonus and as such she was confident that the three others wouldn't be able to do anywhere near as good in front of the worlds ambassadors tommorrow. She'd showered, combed her long red hair, selected a smart navy blue outfit, as close to the Queen's colours as possible, she intended to give them a glimpse of what their future Queen would look like, and then she'd gone to sleep. Her eyes closed quickly and thoughts of her coronation where all that she dreamed of until her alarm went off in the morning.

OOC - On Saturday I'd like to move this to the public meeting. If anyone has anything they'd like to ask the candidates can I ask you either PM me or stick it in the OOC thread and I'll work it into that post so its not stop and go.

Knock...knock...knock. Three raps on Emalet's door, the young Achkaerinese ambassador had spent the night trying to dream that the previous evening hadn't happened. Some posting this was turning out to be, though she'd known this could happen and likely would she hadn't anticipated it happening so soon. Knock...knock...knock. another three knocks, Emalet hopped out of bed and slowly made her way to the door, she opened it and was greeted by two people she hadn't expected to see Scotia Conway and Chihaya Ousaka.

"Morning." Scotia said she thrust something at Emalet before the ambassador had a chance to utter a word, it was a hot chocolate in a paper cup "Get that down you."
"What are you doing here?" Emalet asked taking the hot chocolate and placing it on her desk.
"Believe it or not me and Scarlet Cox were on holiday having a chat with Scotia about some youth ideas." Chihaya said "Part of the old hands helping the current Youth President out."
"Foreign Office called my mother explained last nights events, mentioned you were probably in need of a check up so here we are." Scotia said, while they'd been talking Emalet had got dressed
"I figured I'd tag along." Chihaya said
"So how are you?" Scotia asked
"I don't know." Emalet said "I didn't expect this to happen so soon."
"It's life girl." Scotia said "Stuff like this happens, though not usually something quite on this scale."
"So what happens now?" Emalet asked
"Well according to the nice herald we spoke to outside, the four candidates spend the morning praying and then come to the throne room where you, the other ambassadors, the High Priestess and the Conclave get to question them." Chihaya said "You still a Trekkie?"
"For my sins." Emalet half smiled

"Think of this like how the Trill become joined to a symbiont, there's a rigorous process where all aspects of the perspective host are rigorously tested, their achievements, their record, their personality." Chihaya said, sipping her own coffee as she spoke "The results determine success, you're essentially determining that for one of the four."
"So advice?" Emalet asked
"Forget anything you know about any of them." Scotia said "Challenge their personalities with questions, make them reveal their true selves, you know they will look to cast themselves in the best possible light and you do that by showing your strengths not your weaknesses. They will have their shields up, you need to get through that and see each candidate for who they truly are. So forget you know them and trust your instincts."

"Thank you for asking...I was about to bring something up" he replied while standing up again and proceeded walk around the room to observe things and the minute details, noticing photos depicting Anna with her colleagues, the Queen/'Goddess', oh how arrogant and self-entitled he found these Lodjains to begin with, he only knew deeply inside that they couldn't care less about everyone else except their so-called 'Deity', which was obviously false and likewise with this Pompous concept like Christianity, eternal salvation by a Messiah and something as ludicrous like the Pope; he only cared about his beloved Bene Gesserit faith and what the future held for him, though this position of power he rose to gave him considerable advantages for himself and his family, likewise the BG cause.

"Let me ask you this...What would you rather choose, money or power? It can work either way. Power is the ability to influence peoples actions to get them to do what you want. Money can also do that, if you've got enough money you can influence whole governments and businesses. Hence lobbying in these so-called 'democracies'. But in my humble opinion through and through, there is no power behind money if you don't know how to use them. To have power means to have skills of yours own and others to make something happen and have the charisma or leverage to achieve your goal - as such, money will always appear if you have the power. Money on the other hand will not grant you power if you don't know how to use them - you can bribe all the politicians in the world but if they don't believe in you or your cause, they will just take them and do nothing.

Just because you have the money, doesn't mean someone will not screw you over. If you have power, no one will want to screw you over - money or not."

OOC: "How will you see Lodja in 10 yrs?", "How would you wish to work on relations between Lodja and ES?", "How would you wish to work on relations between Lodja and the rest of Mundus?"

"i will asure you we will find the hardest, most daring Questions that might make them sweat and proof their worth to your Godess." Rudolph replied, before picking up his Tablet again. He found a message from the young Lodjan Debutante Morgan:

"How is the Atmosphere at the Island?"

"Busy" Rudolph replied, before adding: "They asked me to query up questions for the Candidates. How about i forward some of yours as well?"

Rudolph finished his tea, watching some more people arrived, before receiving an answer:

"How can the Godess still Favor us, be kind to us, when her very believers tried to Force their will onto a Godess. Not only the ones attacking her, but our Public in General. We demanded from Sessifet that Viktorya had to become pregnant. We didn't pray for it, we expected it. Then not did we allow for the Queen to be attacked, no. The High priestess tries to force the Godess to choose a new Vessel. How can Sessiffet forgive us?"

Rudolph almost chocked on a Biscuit before coughing up, then tilting his head: "Actually, that is a great Question..." he mumbled to himself, before typing away: "Will forward. Rephrase it a little to be more Diplomatic but i will forward it."

In the end, he did send this to the Priestess:

"As one of your Faithfull had asked me to forward his concerns, as Question for the Candidates: How can the Godess forgive and still stand on our Side, when not only the People had the insolence to Demand the Pregnancy during the first Year, but also the High Priestess ended her Chosen vessel before the Godess released it on her own Accord. As i myself do not see fit to ask Questions of Faith, i found it better to forward this to you, as it comes from the Heart of a Believer"

Anna wasn't one for metaphorical discussion, especially at such a time, "The two things power and money are different sides of the same coin, in effect they are one and the same thing. What is actually more important than both is knowledge, without knowledge you aren't equipped to make money, oh you can inherit it easy enough but as a wise person once said a fool and their money are easily parted. On the other hand we have power, well you say its the ability to influence people, and how do you influence people, well through your knowledge of them, it allows you to know what buttons to press, what emotions to play upon, hence the phrase knowledge is power." She hoped she'd made herself clear. There would be no time for a follow up anyway as the hour was getting on and there was work to be done, Anna made her excuses to see the Cardinal out before preparing herself for the day ahead.

The temporary High Priestess had made arrangements while the Palace slept, the Queen's body had been taken to the Temple of the Goddess, it was awkward to move it there as a narrow descending corridor lead to it, vibrant bright colours decorating the wall either side showing scenes of joy and a love of live, even the floor was painted to look like like grass while a sky with a few white clouds was painted on the roof. The corridor allowed just enough space for a coffin to be held if the soldiers carrying it stood inwards and shuffled along, careful to take care of their precious cargo. At the bottom of the corridor was the inner shrine, the most Holy place to Lodjains as it was believed that this was where the goddess Sessifet first ever joined with a Queen of Lodja. The coffin was placed on the cold floor and guards stood watch over it. While this was going on the Priestesses aides had been gathering the various people together.

Luckily Roksana was supposed to be escorting Tatiana to the Shrine, so it was of no surprise to the aides that the Lady in Waiting was already at the young woman's room. The pair walked silently side by side with one of the Warriors of Gaia leading the way dressed in ceremonial uniform. As they headed along the Palace corridor several staff members, and even Lord Besarian had turned out to watch, the pair meet Lady Stasya and Ariana, the girl looked elegant in a long black dress, a shawl wrapped around her shoulders, a long gold chain around her neck. Compared to Tataina dressed in a simple grey suit complete with white blouse and even a tie Ariana already looked like she was a Queen. The next duo to join them was Lady Anna, who once shut of the Cardinal had picked up Nataliya whose fern leaf pendent stood out against the black dress she had worn. Finally completing the group came Lady Jasmina and Katyusha, their matching red hair both pulled back into a neat braid. The younger girl dark blue dress, minus the gold braiding, looking like something not too disimilar to what a Queen would wear. The eight women made their way into the Shrine following the route that the Queen's body had taken. The High Priestess joined them and for a few moments lead the group in prayers over the Queen's body within it's glass coffin. Once the prayers had been said the Priestess stood from her kneeling and went around the Shrine blowing out all the candles as she made her way to the door, "I shall return in one hour, use the time to focus your mind" and with that the final candle was blown out leaving just a fient amount of light from the candles in the hallway to cast a few glimpses of the images on the wall of the shrine.

During that hour the Queen's Hall was prepared, long benches put in place for the audience Alla anticipated, at the front four stools had been placed at the foot of the steps that lead to the throne. The High Priestess greated each of the people coming to view the unique occasion, the first time a Priestess had publically questioned a future Queen, it had always happened but always done in private, this was clearly a new way of administraring the faith and Alla seemed to be revling in it. "Besarain, so pleased you spent the night in your own bed." she teased, "I believe by this time when we selected Viktoriya you were already chasing Jasmina like a puppy dog." she teased him much to Dragan's amusement. The Conclave took the front seats but then were ordered to move to the back. "You've had several days to meet them, let the world view them." Alla ordered and while the others hesitated it was Anna Utkin who moved first followed by Dragan.

Once the hall was full Alla took her seat, one step below the Queen's throne which sat empty save for a bunch of flowers, a symbolic gesture that the Queen would not be attending a meeting in the Hall. One by one the girls were accompanied into the Hall, being escorted up the aisle between benches by a Lady in Waiting, Alla instructed each of the girls to stay standing until all four had gathered. "Stand on the stools" Alla instructed and hesitatingly one by one starting with Tatiana the girls did so, the three others taking care of their balance in heeled shoes, meanwhile the nimble Tatiana practically leapt onto the seat. "Turn for the audience." They were instructed, the idea seeming bizarre to them, each did as was told and completed a 360 spin. "Now Sessifet was a creature of pure beauty, as such the Queen must be to, so let us see what we are dealing with." Alla walked down to the floor and took a box from an aide, "Remove all your make up, jewellry and then remove your dresses" the four girls looked puzzled at each other, "Sessifet tells us to not be ashamed of the human body, it was her greatest creation, modelled after her own perfection" As if to emphasis this she began unbuttoning a blushing Tatania's blouse, "If you are ashamed Sessifet will not embrace you." Slowly the four did as told, Ariana seeming to be the only one completely unconcerned about being stood in her underwear, Tatiana did her best to cover herself and was thankful she'd worn something a little more lady like than the briefs she normally did, the thought made her laugh and apparently for no reason she stood chuckling to herself. Natalia eyed the laughing girl as though she was insane, while Katyusha arranged her long hair to try and cover herself a little more. "Remain standing" Alla ordered, "I believe we have some questions." Things had been arranged and the first to stand was Emalet.

"If you wouldn't mind could you tell us how your best friend would describe you?" The Achakerin ambassador sat back down before Alla added a part to the question, "One word, then why."

Alla pointed to Tatiana indicating she should answer, their was little hesitation, "Curious. The worlds a big place and I want to experience it and everything in it, to try new things and gain from them." The finger then moved to Natalia, "Helpful, I think its important to help anyone your in a position to do so, whether it be my father, or people in my community." The red head of Katyusha was the next to answer, "Popular, I have a way of getting on with everyone and becoming their friend." the girl said confidently, finally the finger fell on Ariana, " Determined, I want to be the best I can in everything I do, be it sport, education or anything else."

"The next question comes from our guest from Neu Urburzis, rather inventively he asked Lodjains for questions, and they gave him this garbage" she shook her head disparagingly but she'd agreed all ambassadors questions could be asked and so read it. "How can the Godess forgive and still stand on our Side, when not only the People had the insolence to Demand the Pregnancy during the first Year, but also the High Priestess ended her Chosen vessel before the Godess released it on her own Accord." The finger extended once more, this time to Ariana.

"We can not dream to know the thoughts of the Goddess.....unless we are fortunate enough to join with her.....Sessifet has a purpose for all of us, she is the only one who knows this and while we the people can only hope for things the Goddess will pick what happens and it shall be for the best." Ariana hoped her theological understanding made sense.

Next up was Katyusha, "The Goddess loves us like her children, a parent will forgive her children, she may be disappointed but in time we will make her proud. I believe Sessifet choose not to become a mother with Viktoriya not to break tradition, but to allow Viktoriya to shine like a comet in the darkness, a flash of short lived brilliance, paving the way for the rest of Sessifets children, perhaps Raisa Chownyk was part of that plan, we will not know." A mumour went through the audience as the girl seemed to seek to justify the former High Preistesses actions.

Next up was Natalia, "The Goddess must have consented to the release, otherwise the gun would have jammed, the killer have been discovered before hand. Viktoriya was pregnant, Sessifet had listened to the people and provided, nothing is needed to be forgiven, as always Lodja and Sessifet remain one." a few people nodded their approval.

Finally it was Tatiana's turn, " Sessifet can fogive us as a people because not all of us carried out the actions the questioner talks about. Yes tradition dictates the Queen get pregnant within the first year, but traditions change, if Sessifet wishes to wait then we the people will learn patience. One woman pulled the trigger, I did not, you did not, they did not." she motioned to the crowd, "Sessifet will stand on our side because Lodja did nothing wrong."

"Lady Emalet" Alla asked the Achkaerin ambassador again, the woman stood and then spoke, "If you could be any animal what would it be and why?"

Katyusha was smiling as she spoke, "I'd be a swan, they are elegant, graceful but out of sight they are hard working, just how I hope I am." it was something they'd once had in an interview at school and she had recalled her answer, Ariana wished she'd thought of that and instead hesitated, "I'd be a horse, to be able to run free and be beautiful." Tatiana had also an answer in her mind, "I'd be Dolphin, I've seen them on the islands, intelligent, nimble, quick, and they have fun by the looks of it." Finally it came to Natalia, "I think I'd like to be an Eagle, something about soaring high above Mundus excites me." she explained.

"Cardinal" Alla gestured for the man from ES to ask his questions and the man stood from the bench he was sat on and spoke, ""How will you see Lodja in 10 yrs?", "How would you wish to work on relations between Lodja and ES?", "How would you wish to work on relations between Lodja and the rest of Mundus?"

The selecting finger of Alla extended towards Natalia, "In ten years I'd hope to see Lodja richer, happier and as pious as ever. In terms of our relationship with your nation I think Viktoriya laid the foundations on which to build upon, the Council of Albion being a prime example. As for the rest of Mundus I think our culture confuses many, sharing that with others is vital." she thought about her time in the Iwi and how many of the things she spoke of back home confused the locals. Alla pointed at Ariana, "In ten years time I'd like to see Lodja viewed internationally as a land of great cultural works, a haven for art and music, to be the centre of the worlds new renassance. In terms of our two nations I think grand projects based on this new renassaince are a good start, our faiths are as different as they come and its time to better understand each other. As for the rest of Mundus this is where we have great foundations with the CNN, I would seek to better utlise connections there to better know Mundus." Then it was the turn of Katyusha, "Ten years from now Lodja needs to have ensured the safety of our way of life here at home yet at the same time seen living standards for all increase. The ES and Lodjain relationship is one that should be the strongest on Mundus, I'd need to work with your Pope to achieve that, only after meeting with him would I know how. Similarly for the rest of Mundus we need to use our talents to ensure we are valued by friends globally." As the finger came to Tatiana she went silent, weighing up her answer, "In ten years I want to see us in a situation where more Plebs are becoming Patricians, to do this we need more oppurtunities, it would be a dream one day to see so much oppurtunity that there is no reason why any hard working, loyal Pleb can't become a Patrician one way or another. As for the relationship between ES and Lodja I'd see it as important but not vital to work on more than any other nation on Mundus. The way we work on relationships there is changing their views of us, but not to the detrement of losing who we are. "

FInally it was back to the Achkaerin Lady Emalet. "If any of the candidates are better than you, what makes them better?" the killer question was asked. Alla selected Natalia, "All three of the others know Lodja better than me, I've spent the last few years in The Iwi, it means my day to day knowledge of whats happening here isn't as good as theirs because I've been experiencing another culture." She hoped she'd turned her negative into a strength. Katyusha was next, "Ariana is prettier, Natalia more knowledgable about one of our allies and Tatiana a better dancer" She's selected minor things for each of the girls hoping to show there were not significant weaknesses. Ariana was still smiling from Katyusha's comment, "If Lodja wants a Queen to build upon Viktoriya's friendships then Natalia is our choice, she already has friends within the CNN, an organisation we must take more onboard with." Finally it was Tatiana's turn, "As a whole person none of them are better, just as I'm no better than them. As one we'd make an amazing Queen, individually we'll all need help, I realise that and so I don't think overall Katyusha, Natalia or Ariana are better than me, I know what I know, and more importantly I know what I don't." The others looked at her as though she'd cheated by not complimenting at least one of them.

"The girls will stay on their stolls, feel free to come chat with them or some of the Ladies in Waiting, the Conclave even, if you wish, why not even the guards hey." She pointed to the uniformed men standing at the doors to the hall on three of the four sides. Alla motioned to Besarian to join her at the front of the hall to the left hand side. "So, what do you think."

Besarian had a clear idea but he wished not to show his hand to early. "I think three of them could become Queen tomorrow, Tatiana worries me a little." he said and Alla nodded her understanding.

"And who would you take to your bed?" Alla was blunt at all times with the Conclave, Besarian was flustered once more and unsure what to say to a woman of faith, he looked back at where the four underwear clad girls were stood on chairs with a few people speaking to them. "Come on its not hard, I'd take Ariana and I'm not even into women." the High Priestess probed.

"She's a beautiful young woman for sure" Was all Besarian would say as the pair made their way back to stand within hearing range of the gathering.

OOC - Feel free to interact with any Lodjain or someway or other give me your thoughts etc. I'm going to try and move this on a little more probably Friday.

Rudolph walked over to where the Conclave and some other Higher Ranked Personal was chatting, his mind working through the answers of the candidates as he smiled: "quite the different answers they gave." he said, open into the round, before turning his gave to the four on stage: "I am quite impressed of how elegante Miss Katyusha maneuvered the Questions. Not only in the answers themselves but always how she answered. She has a certainty of Elegance around herself while managing to wrap a strong Position in Silken Words."

Leaning back onto a wall, he glanced around the People around him, nodding approvingly: "It's hard to see Fault in these young Women, though i must admit i feel like Miss Tatjana tried to weasel herself a little out of Lady Emelet's Question."

Grabbing a Glass of Tea from a servant, he glanced the others, Bessarians blush still visible before he grinned slightly: "Though i must admit Lodja has some very fine Citizens, whoever will be any of their Husband will be a very lucky Man."

Emalet stayed seated for a moment turning her 'star eye' over each candidate in turn...a very interesting mix weren't they? Tatiana the curious dolphin, Natalia the helpful eagle, Ariana the determined horse and finally Katyusha the popular swan. Interesting answers to those two questions indeed but those had been nothing more than the baseline questions, the warm up punches, the jabs to use the boxing jargon that Emalet was familiar with the third question had been the knockout punch, that was the one she'd been the most interested in and she was grateful that it was the last question of the session, better to finish with something thought provoking than something else. As for the answers to that question well they were yet again interesting, Tatiana had taken an interesting approach in answering it but it almost smacked of arrogance and if anything was possibly a cop out of an answer. Natalia?  Now here was someone who spoke a decent amount of the truth in more ways than one, it was true that Natalia lacked Lodjan cultural understanding but she had experience of learning about another culture, something the other three did not and this was a quality found among and prized by other major leaders on Mundus such as King David, Emperor Peter, King Piripi and of course the late Queen Viktoriya. Ariana had registered it seemed something of what Natalia had said, taken it and turned it into her own answer and then there was Katyusha, a very clever sidestep and in truth an answer that displayed the trait she'd looked for in humility though maybe not in the constructive way she'd hoped.

Why was humility what she'd wanted to see? Two reasons, first humility often went hand in hand with modesty and this was the point of identifying where someone was weak, Emalet boxed and she knew her strengths and her weakness's, in recognizing her weakness's and also where the other side was strong she could gain an awful lot, so had the girls understood this? In some ways yes. Second there was something understood in Achkaerin's noble circles the monarch served the people in all their duties that was a key part of a monarch's role.

She walked past the four candidates deep in thought, she turned and looked back towards the candidates
"Two horse race" she muttered as she backpedaled  past Besarian without noticing him, she wanted some air, maybe she'd go and change for a run her eyes however were focused on her 'two horses' Katyusha and Natalia, though perhaps ironically she regarded Ariana as the dark horse, but she knew who she gave the better chances to.

Cardinal Fava, like some of his other colleagues, were very much impressed of the answers given by the royal candidates...well mostly. The one who impressed him the most was a no-brainer...Katyusha, she seemed to be of the right type of material fit for ruling a country and knew how to maneuver her way around the politics and intrigue that occurred daily. Deeply inside he hoped that she would one day become the Queen, but it was probably for the better not to hold positive thoughts, after all it wasn't him who controlled the destiny of man, and the choice one likes the least always ends up in the other direction so to say, that's what he had learned from past experiences in any case.

"Quite an impressive performance you put up there" he told Katyusha while taking a chair and sat beside her. "I'm just curious as to why I only find you to be the most sane and realistic of all candidates here, became glad when you took my questions seriously when answering, especially that part when you apparently wanted ES-Lodjain relations to be as strong as possible..."

Princess Nessanië stood quietly listening to the candidates answer the questions presented to them. Her eyes often drifted to the dashing Finance Minister. In typical Arda Tuluvan style she observed them all and contemplated her question before approaching the four ladies. The princess wore all white with her headdress made of silver. Nessanië had informed her sovereign immediately once the news broke. The Empress – might she live forever – had declared that the Empire, too, would be in period of mourning for the late Queen. Viktoriya had been declared a friend of the Throne, thus intoning the Celestial Court to observe the 144 days of mourning.

She had met Ariana the previous day, a nice young girl. She seemed determined and knowledable enough. Nessanië thought Natalia was the oddest choice. She was a little naïve, having spent her formable years in a foreign nation, she even admitted she had little sense of what and who Lodja is. Not an answer Nessanië would have said. The Princess found that Katyusha has no sense of humility, unchecked her arrogance could be a ruin for the Lodjan Crown. Popular? Popularity was useless to consecrated sovereign. Charisma, fortitude. These are the qualities of a Queen, not the need for people’s validation to deem you ‘popular’. With good rule, humility, and intelligence then came respect from the people, with respect comes approval, with approval comes loyalty. Popularity. This is not some pageant, this is the institution of ruling the Queendom. Tatiana; a force for change and yet she had a great desire to maintain Lodja’s long and beautiful traditions. She was most similar to the Autárimë Empress. Nessanië thought that of the four, Tatiana was the best candidate who would help to build greater relations with Arda Tuluva, to expand the foundations laid by Queen Viktoriya.

She bowed politely to the interim High Priestess, then to the four candidates individually: to show no favoritism Nessanië bowed to them in alphabetical order according to the Lodjan language. She opted for a question that was highly common on the Arda Tuluvan Imperial Examinations, their answers would elucidate what they valued most, “Schools are built for three reasons: to educate the masses, to train talented persons, and to revitalize the industries. Please explain which of these three is most important.”
