DATABASE OF INTERNATIONAL SANCTIONS AND EMBARGOES
This used to be a thread on the old forum that was intended to be used as a reference guide to what sanctions/embargo's were in place against which nations, who put them in place and why they were put in place. For the last couple of years there hasn't really been a 'sanction heavy' atmosphere but we've got various RP's now which may involve these so it seemed a good idea to revive the thread.

Please note that this is a reference thread so you should still be announcing sanctions etc in through press offices or media outlets.

The following categories of sanctions may be used (this section is copied directly from the old forum thread). If anyone has other categories they would like to suggest, PM me and I'll consider adding them.

Diplomatic: Removal of diplomatic ties, e.g. Embassies etc.

Trade (Passive): Bans on imports or exports from a country.

Trade (Active): Same as above, except with a military presence enforcing, e.g. blockading ports.

Arms/Military: Trade Sanctions which only extend to the arms manufacturing industry, i.e. not supplying a nation with weapons. Includes restrictions on military movement of the target nation nearby the country issuing the sanctions.

Sporting/Cultural: Prohibits sporting events and cultural events between the two countries. Seen as a form of psychological warfare in that it affects the patriotism of the populous rather than pressuring the government. (note please that stuff such as the Mundus Games may not fit into this category unless you're going to say that you refuse to compete because of that nations presence)

Recognition: The government of the target nation is not acknowledged as the legitimate government by the imposing nation.

Targeted Sanctions: Financial and asset freezes, targeted at government members.

The following is the submission form for sanctions, after which I'll add them into a table to keep track of them for the purposes of the reference list. Also please when withdrawing sanctions listed here give notice of the withdrawal here so the information is as up to date as possible.

Sanction Name: OPEN’s sanctions against Slava Lavosk
Target: Slava Lavosk
Imposer: OPEN - Oil (and Gas) Producing Exporting Nations
Type: Trade (Passive): ban on oil and gas exports to Slava Lavosk
Motivation: At Tamora’s request, OPEN nations have issued an embargo to pressure Slava Lavosk to accept Tamora’s ultimatum.

Sanction Name: Tamora’s sanctions against Slava Lavosk
Target: Slava Lavosk
Imposer: Empire of Tamora
Type: Trade (active): total ban on trade, border closed. However, Tamora has not attempted or threatened to impose a naval blokade.
Type: Diplomatic: Removal of all diplomatic ties: Tamora has closed its embassy in Slava Lavosk and has given notice to Slava to close its embassy in Tamora.
Motivation: The human rights abuses of Slava Lavosk’s government against Slavans of Tamoran descent and retaliation for  crucifying one such individual.

Sanction Name: Tamora’s sanctions against the Commonwealth of the Iwi
Target: Commonwealth of the Iwi
Imposer: Empire of Tamora
Type: Arms/military: no military equipment or military assistance of any kind will be given to the Iwi.
Motivation: The executions of Seleucid citizines and the aggressive( military) actions of the Iwi against Royal Seleucid.

Sanction Name: Tamora recognizes the Free Theocracy of Kaitaine
Target: The Soviet Republic of Kaitaine
Imposer: Empire of Tamora
Type: Recognition: Tamora recognizes the Theocrachy of Kaitaine as the legitimate government. No trade is permitted with the Soviet Republic, no diplomatic ties exist with the Soviet Republic.
Motivation: The brutal suppression of religion in Kaitaine by the communist government and the alleged loss of control of the country by the communist regime.

Beatrice:
Sanction Name: Imperial Actions On Dragonaii Participation In The Tamoran Instituion of Slavery
Target: The Second Imperial Chinese Republic
Imposer: The First Empire of Rokkenjima
Type: Diplomatic, Trade (Passive), Arms/Military, Travel Restrictions, Sporting/Cultural, Financial/Asset Freezes (financial institutions and Rokkenjiman businesses prohibited from conducting business with Dragonaii businesses/government), Targeted Sanctions (directed at figures in the Dragonaii Government)
Motivation: For perpetuating the Tamoran institution of slavery and conducting business with a designated State Sponsor of Terrorism under the Terrorist Enterprises Act.

Yolotan:
Sanction Name: Vaguzian sanctions against the killing and imprisonment of whales by Nya Åland
Target: The Odinist Republic of Nya Åland
Imposer: The Kingdom of Vaguzia
Type: Trade (Passive): Oil, Gas, food, arms. Financial/Asset Freezes. Financial/Asset Freezes (financial institutions and Vaguzian businesses prohibited from conducting business with Nya Ålandic businesses/government)
Motivation: For hunting on whales, which is an endangered species of animals

KrisNord:
Sanction Name: Nya Åland Reciprocation of Vaguzian sanctions
Target: Vaguzia
Imposer: Nya Åland
Type: Trade (Passive): Oil, Gas, food, arms. Financial/Asset Freezes. Financial/Asset Freezes (financial institutions and Nya Åland businesses prohibited from conducting business with Vaguzia businesses/government)
Motivation: Like for like sanctions.
