Juglander ReviewJuglander Open restarted in Emrta
Wyne Bonderik defeated Godric Aaroe in the final match in four sets (7-5, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1), winning the 97th Juglander Open.

The Juglander Open is the oldest tennis tournament in Jugland, reserved for Juglander tennis players who are officially registered in the Juglander Tennis Association, previously known as the Royal Tennis Federation of Jugland. The Juglander Open was held for first time in 1919, but it had been held since the year 2016. The Juglander Open was traditionally held in Albrektberg -with the exception of eleven times-, although this time in was held in the city of Amkhvar.

It was the fourth final for the veteran player Godric Aaroe, who had won the title in 2012 and 2015. A few hours before, Bertha Petersen won the women's final after defeating Idunna Juul by 7-6, 4-6 and 6-3, in a more evenly-matched final, in which none of the players were exactly between the favourites when the tournament started.

Being a domestic tournament, the Juglander Open had a limited coverage, although the organization was pleasantly surprised that most of the matches in the las trounds had a quite high attendance. Between the attendees, there were both political representatives and local celebrities, including Princess Mildgyd, the only member of the House of Welhaven-Goltzam still living in the country. It was precisely Princess Mildgyd who handed over the trophy and medals in the last Juglander Open, in 2016, although this time the honour was reserved to the chairman of the Juglander Tennis Association along the local mayor.

Juglander ReviewA small rebirth for Juglander motorsport in Achkaerin
Tytorian QAS Racing team obtained the victory in the Stardust Cup, a 24hr motorsport endurance race held in Achkaerin, where two Juglander teams participated.

While none of the two teams participated in the top category, the results gave hope for the future of the racing competitions in Jugland, according to sports commentators. "It's true it's just a race", says Douglas Morgen, a sports commentator based in Jugland, "but it may help to both increase the competitiveness of the local teams and increase the interest of the public".

Nordansk Racing, a racing club sponsored by Jugland's second largest bank, aimed to win their own category and finishing on the top ten overall (they finished second and 13th, respectively). "We did some mistakes", recognized Herewardt Vinje, veteran Juglander pilot, the only one of the Jugland nationals in the race with a proper international career in racing, "but we can be moderately satisfied...finishing only two laps below our aim. We strive to improve in future events".

On the other hand, Aranyanska-Flyttarr had a more disappointing result, finishing last overall. However, their manager was slightly optimistic, as they the pilot proved to be competitive, "a more than acceptable result", he said, "for a team barely completed a few weeks ago".

Juglander ReviewNational Unity government is announced
Following 72 hours of intense negotiation, the largest political groups in the National Assembly have announced the creation of a "National Unity government", which is likely to include most of the national political parties. The decision was announced by a joint press confederence of representatives of the Federal Democratic Party, Liberal Party, Reform Movement, and National Democratic Party.

The representatives justified the need of such national unity government for the decisive moment the nation is experiencing, considering that is the most positive outcome to achieve the aim to consolidate the new constitutional order without increasing division in the country, as well as to pass necessary but difficult reforms in education, healthcare, security, but particularly to estabilize the current complicated economic situation the country is still experiencing.

They agreed on a joint 30-point government program, which was signed by the mentioned parties. The composition of the government is not known yet, however. It is expected that it will be announced in the coming days.

The conservative Social Initiative did not sign the agreement, citing minor ideological differences in some of the points. They, however, welcomed the agreement, and they are likely to support the election of the proposed candidates to the National Council.

The new government will have a more than comfortable majority -nearby 2/3 of the total seats- in the National Assembly. It was not confirmed if President Eadwald Engelsaas or other members of the Provisional Government will join the new executive or not.

Only the Freedom Party openly rejected the agreement, calling it a "step back" and "a mockery of the last legislative election". Their spokesperson declared they are ready to become the only "real" opposition party, the only parliamentary group aimed to defend the interests of the "common Juglander" who supports both "justice and order".

The regionalist Autonomous Movement for Emrta declared that they oppose some of the clauses of the agreement and they will not support the new government, but they welcome that a new government will start to work. They declared to be ready to have a constructive relation and open talks with the new federal government.

Juglander ReviewNational Assembly elects new federal government

The National Assembly elected the seven members of the National Council, the federal government that will replace the Provisional Government. There was a more than expected heated debate during the preliminary session, when parliamentary groups and MPs filled nomination for candidates. However, there was not a great surprise neither in the names of the main candidates (which had been leaked the evening before) nor the final result.

The first National Council will be established under the form of a national unity government, resulting that not only the new federal government is expected to have a more than large majority, but that no political party will have a majority in the council.

Each member of the National Council will head his own department, which would operate pretty much as a ministry - it is actually expected that the current ministries will be assembled and renamed. However, as every Secretary -as the members of the National Council will be officially called- will head their own department, the decisions of the National Council are expected to be collective, being every Secretary both responsible for their own department as well as the decisions of their colleagues' departments and the conduct of the federal government as a whole.

Both the National Democratic Party and the Federal Democratic Party -the two largest political parties in the National Assembly- will have two representatives in the National Council, while the Liberal Party and the Reform Movement will have one representative each, and a final representative nominated by the conservative Social Initiative.

The final composition of the National Council will be as follow:

--- Quote ---
* Johannes Skouen (nominated by the National Democratic Party)
* Lars Midtvedt (nominated by the National Democratic Party)
* Raymond Furuholmen (nominated by the Federal Democratic Party)
* Grimwaldyna Nygaard (nominated by the Federal Democratic Party)
* Burkhardt Kvalheim (nominated by the Reform Party)
* Edda Stordalen (nominated by the Liberal Party)
* Osgard Rimfeldt (independent, nominated by the Social Initiative)

--- End quote ---

Burkhardt Kvalheim and Raymond Furuholmen were the candidates who received more votes, a total of 301 of 333 MPs supported their election. On the other hand, Lars Midtvedt was the candidates who received least votes with only 271 votes.

The oldest member of the National Council will be Burkhardt Kvalheim, 61, while Grimwaldyna Nygaard, from the Federal Democratic Party, will be the youngest, as she is 36 years old. Kvalheim will be the only member of the National Council with a previous government experience, as he was Minister of Foreign Affairs under Engelsaas' Provisional Government.

It is expected that the elected members of the National Council will take the official oath as members of the government, which is expected to be the last act of Eadwald Engelsaas as President of the Provisional Government and acting head of state. While the National Council will have a ceremonial president and vice-president, officially the National Council will operate as a collective head of state, according the Juglander constitution.

It is still unknown which department will be headed by each member of the National Council. That decision will be officially confirmed only after the first official meeting of the National Council. However, it is likely rumoured that such decision was already discussed and reached by the members of the government coalition during the negotiations, and it could be announced in the coming hours.

The National Council will have a wide support in the National Assembly, but not for that, their own colleagues have admitted in private, their task will be easy. Officially, the government coalition will be formed by the Federal Democratic Party, the National Democratic Party, the Liberal Party and the Reform Movement. Although Osgard Rimfeldt was nominated by the conservative Social Initiative, he was elected to the National Assembly in an individual constituency, being endorsed by the Social Initiative without being a member of the conservative coalition (he officially left the Social Initiative parliamentary group, which he had joined during the first session of the National Assembly, once he was officially nominated by Social Initiative leadership). However, a spokesperson from Social Initiative has declared that their party will be ready to cooperate with the National Council and the new majority of the National Assembly.
