Socialist Soiree in Kaitaine

(1/3) > >>

Libby:

Dear Comrades

Soon our nation will be celebrating Freedom Day, the glorious occasion of the corrupt and evil Bene Gesserit faith being defeated and the establishment of the Workers and People's Councils of Kaitaine, a trumphant legacy of that victory. Each year we celebrate with a large military parade where we can give our thanks to the brave men and women who defend our nation while remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice to free us from our chains of oppressive religious cults.

This year I would like to invite like minded nations, and political representatives from non-socalist nations, to come and join our celebration. It is a wish of mine that we begin to build closer ties between us as the world has made many attempts to paint us as backwards and unjust, things that couldn't be further from the truth. I look forward to meeting you all in Arakeen for the parade.

Best Regards

President McPherson

Arakeen International airport had become a hive of activity, units had been flying in all morning ready for the parade and it had fallen to Vadik Pasternak, the new Vice President, to make sure the various guests were greeted in a manner befitting them. He was actually pleased to take on the role, he was able to sit and chat with some of the military guys and recall his own military past in the Parachute Regiment, a service he was extremely proud of. Several pieces of armour were beginning to roll out the airport gate heading for the meeting point at a large park at the run in to the parade itself. Several Sergeant Majors could be heard over the din marshalling people to where they needed to be. Vadik was enjoying a coffee with three guys from the KGB when one of the Sergeant Majors approached and saluted. "Sir, first visitors are incoming"

"Thank you" he returned the salute, completly automatically, he thanked the men for the coffee and slipped his black pin stripe suit back on checking his flag pin badge was straight, running a hand through his hair and then straightening his tie. "Please don't be some boring old fart" he mumbled to himself as he took up his position at the end of the red carpet to greet the first arrivals.

Achkaerin:
OOC- just using this as a means of establishing some things about Rodina and reintroducing it for those who aren't familiar with it.

It had been a long time since anyone from Rodina had made the trip to Kaitaine, or at least anyone official the great man Joseph Stalin had been the last, now it was the turn of President Artemiy Klepakhov[1] to make the trip. He'd looked forward to the opportunity to do this for quite some time, he'd spent most of the last eighteen months rebuilding Rodina following the death of Stalin and while he might have been the surprise choice to take over he hoped that his experience in foreign affairs would stand him in good stead. He wasn't alone either he was accompanied by Svetlana Stalin, the grand daughter of the great man himself. Her own father had died shortly after she'd been born serving his country and her mother had taken her own life, she'd been raised by her grand parents. They were gone now but the name still carried weight and she seemed to have inherited her grand father's popularity with the people but she had far more subtlety than he did she was a role model for the young in Rodina but many tipped her for great things.

Stepping from their car Artemiy looked towards Pasternak

"It's been far too long since the President of Rodina had the privilege of visiting Kaitaine and what a fine occasion for it to happen." Artemiy said extending his hand with a smile "I'm not sure if you know my companion but this is Svetlana Stalin, the grand daughter of the great former leader of my country." 1. I don't believe Medvedev is Icly claimed

Libby:
Vadik was pleased that the Rodinan delegates were the first to arrive it seemed fitting that the nation that freed them from the evils of Bene Gesserit rule were the first to be welcomed. "President Klepakov, a pleasure" he shook the man's hand, he remembered a time when the troops from this nation had freely wandered Arakeen but now it was merely all their surplus equipment, weaponary the KDF had put to good use and in some cases surpassed, sadly though canibalised was usually the fate. He turned to Svetlana, "An honour to meet the grand-daughter of the great man. I hope to hear many tales of his life from you, sadly all I got to know where what books tell us, and they focus more on the man as a leader, not as family man, it must be rather intriguing. President McPherson has told us all many tales, but you know how it is, you dine with a man often enough you've soon heard all his tales" Pasternak directed them to follow him. "I believe we have a few moments before the next arrivals" he took them over to the airport terminal where a variety of breakfast pastries had been set up. "I'm sure this will come as no surprise but President McPherson is seeking to utilise this meeting as a way of our nations becoming firm partners once more, I hope this is something you'll be open to."

Beatrice:

Émilie Poincaré, Socialist Party Leader and Shinjirō Koizumi, Leader of the Centre Party.
Émilie Poincaré was the next to arrive. As Leader of the Socialist Party she had been forced to maintain a balance each day, weighing the ambitious policies and platforms the Socialists had always wished to pursue whilst working within the system to effect what policies she could through the Green-Red Coalition. With a Centre Party victory looking increasingly likely she had one card she had yet to play remaining up her sleeve to, hopefully, de-rail the hawks of Pyrettania from setting Rokkenjima on a collision course with Kaitaine. Though it would be in the form of an unexpected accomplice she had learned to work with those opportunities afforded to her.

Joining her was Shinjirō Koizumi who could very well become the next Premier of Rokkenjima. He had spoken against the sanctions which were hastily implemented against Kaitaine, calling for bi-lateral dialogue and being one of the Councillors who voted against the Genocide Recognition Act, the younger Koizumi had shown a desire to bridge the divide. If all worked out well he would get an opportunity to pursue that path, whilst the Socialist Party would gain the opportunity to further its ties with the international Left and build toward claiming a majority of their own in the future.

"Don't look so stressed, it's not a look that fosters cooperation," Émilie said with a gentle nudge of her elbow. She still couldn't believe the odd bedfellows this visit had resulted in for her, though remaining focused on taking advantage of the ray of light offered by Koizumi helped her out immensely. "I'm not stressed," Koizumi muttered, "It's just, I wasn't expecting the first nation I would visit to be Kaitaine. Dartfordia, Achkaerin, East Moreland most certainly, but to think I would be on Kaitaine soil? There's too much at stake for me to make any miscalculations today."

"You will do fine I'm sure," Émilie said with a reassuring smile, "....and here we go."

"Mr. Vice President," Émilie said with an outreached hand, "I am Émilie Poincaré, Leader of the Socialist Party of Rokkenjima. This is a day I have been waiting for quite some time, to see Kaitaine with my own eyes, and it hasn't disappointed. You may recognize Mr. Koizumi, and I assure you that his presence with me is not some sort of fluke. He, too, views the folly which Rokkenjima pursued against Kaitaine and wishes to make sure that never happens again. He's one of the good guys, even if we have our disagreements."

Koizumi followed Émilie's lead in offering his hand for a handshake. "Vice President Pasternak, thank you for your hospitality and this opportunity. After an introduction like that I can only hope that I do not disappoint," he said with a light chuckle.
OOC: I liked the name too much to relegate it to a future-less existence with Aquitaine, so she's being re-purposed as the Leader of the Socialist Party. We can find a different name for Aquitaine's Grand Duchess if need be. Plus, points with Nemerie, but I guess her being a Socialist kind of negates said points. OOC rambling over. ^^

Lakhzovia:
Lev Davidioff had arrived with Rosa Sakaria after a long and circuitous route. Being the leader and deputy of the Communist Worker's Party of Rhand, an organisation banned as a criminal group, meant that extreme precautions were necessary for its members, particularly those in the leadership.

Their trip had therefore involved obtaining exit visas for Lev and Rosa under guise of a research trip abroad, a ruse made possible by Lev's position as a professor of economics at the Royal University of Ardiapur. Having exited the country and flying to their supposed destination they then transited by land too a neighbouring state before taking another plane, this time to Kataine.

They had come because it had been decided by the Central Committee that the opportunity to develop links with, and learn from Kaitaine was too valuable to pass up.

Approaching the waiting Vice President Lev extended his hand. "On behalf of the oppressed workers and peasants of Rhand and of the Communist Worker's Party I would like to thank you and your nation for allowing us the opportunity to visit your country."
