EMAC ANNOUNCE "EMAC SPORTS FARM"
EMAC have today announced the completion of what they are calling the Sports Farm. The "Farm" is a campus located in Portworth that features accommodation for 200 sportsmen and women as well as state of the art training facilities for football, rugby, athletics and swimming. The facility has also got world class medical and rehabilitation facilities including cryogenics chamber, oxygen tents, hypobaric pods and its own mini hospital. The facility will also have a dining room run by a top nutritionist and a "Technicans Lodge" which will feature facilities for teams of people who will develop new sporting technology to be based. The "Farm" has been described by Sir Alan Maybury as "the continuation of EMAC seeking to push the boundaries of performance regardless of the field". In recent years EMAC have diversified their business from that of being just a simple aviation manufacturer to also boast an airline, a performance vehicle company, a lesuirewear brand and high end electronic gadgets. The focus of the brands have however always been about exceptional performance and pushing the envelope of what is possible. EMAC have become famous for publicity stunts such as sponsoring athletes to row the Illumic, cars being driven upside down and various speed records. Several years ago they began acquiring football teams and currently have four spread across Mundus in Portworth, Lijiang, Bakkermaya and most successfully in Jugland cup runners up EMAC Albrektberg.
Speaking of how the "Farm" will first be used EMAC's new head of Sporting Co-Ordination, Sir Clyde Winwood said , "The farm here in Portworth is going to be busy. We will have scouts out looking for the next generation of sporting stars, we'll primarily be focusing on our football operations for the time being EMAC Portworth should hopefully gain promotion to the Premier League in the summer, EMAC Tiefin in Lijiang are looking at a to half finish for the first time in their history, Fernlea in Bakkermaya just narrowly missed out on their 2nd league title and fingers crossed EMAC Albrektberg can bring us a cup victory soon. Our aim will be over the off-season to bring young up and coming players from these teams to the Farm and run sessions to help them develop. We want our clubs to produce the best young players in the world. It would be incredible to thing in a decade time we could see perhaps a Jugland V's Bakkermaya final dominated by EMAC created players. Once we've got the football operations under control we'll make moves to bring athletes here as their homebase and have them live and work here on a daily basis."
The project is ambitious but some fans of football teams have argued its the "Franchising" of football. One of Roberton AFC's fans said, "Big name owners in sport is not something new, we got brought by King David five years ago and beyond the injection of funding that has helped us become a threat for the league title the only change we saw was the fact people started calling us "The Kingsmen", or colours, our logos, our image all stayed the same. EMAC Portworth however were Portworth Athletic and now their heritage, their history, even their team colours have all changed. Then you look at Jugland and you see a clone of EMAC Portworth there, flick channels and you could think EMAC Portworth have suddenly starting playing in Lijiang. Its insane and in poor taste."
Sir Clyde Winwood however responded to critics saying. "In many cases the teams EMAC target for ownership are teams on the edge, teams that lack funds and a future. Portworth Athletic were six weeks from going bankrupt, now they'll be calling the Farm home . Its an impressive turn around that means fans still get to enjoy their local team." When asked Sir Clyde also expressed his desire to add more sports teams to EMAC's portfolio.
