The government of Nichitishi is a federal bicameral parlimentary republic, with the Chancellor being the head of the government and state. Legislative power rests in the Assembly of Representatives, the Chancellor being responsible for the appointing Vice-Chancellor, ministers and cabinet members for the executive branch. Federal elections happen every 4 years, votes for political parties (seats in the lower house) and the chancellor are casted seperately. The 300 seats are divided by the
D' Hondt method. The chancellor is elected using a
two-round system.
The upper house of Nichitishi, the Council of Republics, consists of 80 seats, occupied by 10 representatives appointed by the Chancellor, 10 appointed by the Vice-Chancellor, the governments of states in Nichitishi appointing another 10 representatives each for a total of 40, and the rest of the 20 seats being occupied by representatives of parties proportional to the amount of seats they have in the lower house. The upper house has little power, being unable to initiate legislation, their primary goal is to provide advisory to the lower house, represent underpopulated regions such as Himizu and Bostancı, and scrutinise legislation. They may delay legislation for up to a month to be reviewed and the upper house may also suggest amendments to the legislation, though the lower house may reject these suggestions by vote.
