Mktvartvelo: National government to impose countermeasures to Rokkenjima ban
Vazha Virsaladze, Minister of International Cooperation and Trade, has described Rokkenjima's decision to ban the importation of computers and consumer electronics from the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo as a "purely arbitrary and political decision" without any reasonable justification and it will be immediately treated as such. As consequence, Virsaladze announced, the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo will respond with the same measure, and it will ban any computer and consumer electronics produced or imported from the First Empire of Rokkenjima, or by any company based in that country, with immediate effect.
"We have no wish to escalate tensions with Rokkenjiman government beyond previous actions, but we will respond in kind for any sanction or unjustified ban", Inga Ushkaladze, the national government spokesperson. "It is not my role to speculate", Ushkaladze declared, "if this last action was more motivated for reasons related to Rokkenjiman domestic market in order to favour one company over the rest rather than previous actions. However, we will act with proportionality against any action aimed to damaged our companies and consumers".
Merab Gulmodginadze, leader of the Mktvartveli Front, described the last decision by the First Empire of Rokkenjima as "economic warfare against our nation" and demanded that Rokkenjiman ambassador to be "immediately expelled from the country". A fellow representative of the same political party, which currently stands with two seats in the National Assembly, called for every Rokkenjiman citizen in the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo to "be deported as soon as possible". Meanwhile, Orivegza Mgaloblishvili, parliamentary speaker of the Liberal Democratic Party, called Minister of Foreign Affairs Lasha Katsarava to address the National Assembly regarding the tensions with the First Empire of Rokkenjima and other diplomatic initiatives since his appointment.
Sports: AC Albrektberg knocks FK Sandberg out
In an unexpected comeback, as FK Sandberg had defeated them 1-0 in the first leg, AC Albrektberg defeated FK Sandberg by 3-0, to advance semifinals in the Juglander Cup.
AC Albrektberg, who plays in Second Division since their relegation in the 2021-2022 season, reached the semifinals for second time in a row, for the delight of their fans. "Many would argue that we should focus on the domestic league to achieve our aim, promotion to the Elite League", Kauko Ohtani, AC Albrektberg declared, "and there is certainly truth on that argument. But after seeing the crowd tonight, it would be difficult to deny them this chance to compete against the players of this country".
Although FK Sandberg started the match without some of their key starters, the players apologized for the result. "There is no excuse about our performance today", FK Sandberg player Erik Junichi declared, "but we need to focus in the league to achieve our main and last goal of the season, to win the league". Currently, FK Sandberg and EMAC Albrektberg -who qualified to semifinals after drawing 2-2 to SK Midtenstadt in an evenly matched second leg match-, remain at top of the Juglander Elite League with 39 points in 19 matches.
