Factbooks and Maps / Huskar Protectorate
« on: March 08, 2021, 04:48:47 PM »

Motto:- The Sand Runs Red
National Anthem:-

BACKGROUND

Huskar was once dominated by numerous rival petty kingdoms. Midway through the 11th century, the region was at the height of its golden age, known as the Eternal Sun Era. Conflict among the kingdoms was rare, and the Huskar people flourished under regional trade and prosperity. Unfortunately, this would come to an end. Huskar's geographic location places it between Abydos and Vanora. When the Crusades began, it was inevitable that Huskar would be drawn into the conflict.

In the early years, most of the Huskar kingdoms maintain their nuetrality. Occasionally, they would offer services to one side or another, but this was rare and on a small scale. It is highly debated which faction was the first to openly violate neutrality, marching through Huskar, but once one did it, everyone followed. The petty kingdoms tried to repeal the invades, but suffered major defeats. A coalition was formed that would start the kingdoms on the path to national unity. The coalition performed much better and eventually entering Huskar was a bloody and costly affair for any crusading army. As the Crusades began to die down, the petty kings were forced to lay down their crowns by the coalition armies. It is for this reason that Huskar can be considered an "anti-crusader" state. But the question of who would lead the new nation weighed heavily. Eventually, it was agreed that the Riven family, stewards of the Holy Blade, would act as the symbolic Imperial family of the nation, while the commanders of the coalition would be the de facto rulers. Thus in 1495[1], the Empire of Huskar was born.

Peace would only last for three years. Unable to decide upon a structure of leadership, the coalition commanders divided the Empire amongst themselves, carving up what was effectively their own kingdoms. Because the Empire was ruled by warlords (known as Haisen) whose strength came from the armies they commanded, they eventually started to desire larger pieces of the Empire to control. The first conflicts were small, minor skirmishes, but they quickly escalated and combined into a massive civil war. By 1498, the Era of the Warring State had begun.

The Era of the Warring State was one of the most gruesome and horrific wars in Mundus' history. The Haisen were all former generals of the coalition and their armies were made of veterans of the Crusades. These were battle-hardened soldiers, and quickly armies turned to cruelty to gain advantages against each other. For over two hundred years, the nation bleed. Survivors of passing by hordes faced famine and disease. When peace finally came with the rise of the Three Pragmatic Houses, whole generations had been born and died by the sword. Peace seemed like an unimaginable dream. The Pragmatic Houses were anointed as the Protectors of the Imperial Riven Family, and the Huskar Protectorate was born.

2 Weeks Ago – Zunetu

Zunetu was in a sour mood. The Talaos terrorists had proved to be far more capable than he had thought possible. And today was going to be a long day due to them. First him and Aerila were to finalize the arrangements for the funeral of their father. This was the most chilling assassination of them all. Someone snuck into his hospital room while he slept and injected poison directly into his IV. Quick and painless. At least Zunetu could be thankful for that. After this, he was meeting with the Dynasty military advisors to formalize a strategy of retaliation.

He looked behind him at his sister, Aerila. She was wearing a simple silver sundress which Zunetu suspected was chosen for its ease. Her eyes were puffy for crying and her head was bent down, her eyes focused on the ground in front of her. It had not been easy for her. The death of most of their family left her with a complicated legacy. Her half-brothers who had tormented her throughout her childhood and a father who had largely ignored her. Zunetu had often wondered why father had taken her from her mysterious mother in the first place.

He reached his hand out to her. She looked up at him, her face scrunched in confusion. And why wouldn’t she be? When was the last time he spoke to her other than pleasantries? Two, three years ago? “Sister, we just have to get through today. After the funeral, I’ll make the arrangements, you can stay at the Winter Gardens.”

Her eyes lightened, but only a little. She would be safer there, isolated and surrounded solely by servants. “Really? I’ve never seen the Gardens out of season.”

“Yes, you can stay for the rest of the year. You’ll get to see the whole garden bloom.”

Zunetu nodded her forward. They just had to make it through today. Was that really so hard?

The pair continued their walk through the palace. The rest of the journey was done in silence. Even in better circumstance, the two had little to say to each other. They reached the doors of the meeting room; a large study. No doubt it was already filled with all sorts of religious and etiquette consultants. Zunetu took a deep breath and pushed the door open.

He barely stepped into the room, surveying his surroundings. It left Aerila trapped in the doorway. He saw mostly familiar faces, a handful of new ones were mixed in. But there was one that caught his eye. A young man, his face still full of boyhood. His eyes were downcast, as if they were afraid to look at the head of the Traetor family. The man felt Zunetu’s eyes on him and quickly looked up. He saw it in his eyes, the cold rage. The indifference of one resolved to leave this world.

Zunetu quickly flipped around towards Aerila. He felt the word escaping his mouth, but it was so slow, too slow. He raised his arms and pushed her back, out of the room. She fell back, landing far into the hallway. She had been holding the door open, and it started to close. Zunetu prepared to leap through the doorway, but he knew it was too late. He could feel the heat all around him. He closed his eyes and waited for the bang, but it never came.

Wraiths to undergo Traetorian Operations

Princess Aerila left her palace yesterday in order to travel to Orphela and meet with the Council of Elders. This is the first time she has left the palace in two weeks- since the last death of her last half-brother. She meet with the Council to discuss a strategy to deal with the Talaos insurgents who conducted the series of assassinations that claimed Aerila's father and 5 half-brothers' lives. The assassinations were a shock to all, and revealed the extent of power the Talaos cells within the Dynasty hold.

The Princess and the Council's meeting proved fruitful, and the Council has issued the Decree of Traetorian Mourning. The decree, signed directly by Aerila, outlines a temporary transferring of Aerila's powers to the Council of Elders until the Talaos are dealt with. In effect, this makes the Council the de facto head of the Dynasty, an unprecedented action in the history of the Confederacy. Never once has one of the sovereign states been directly controlled by the Council. Novan President Maz called the decree an "understandable but regrettable precedent that could have far reaching and long lasting consequences for all member nations of the Confederacy."

The second part of the decree details the deployment of the elite Confederate spec ops unit, the Wraiths, in Traetorian territory. The Confederate constitution clearly states that in peacetime the Confederate military is barred from entering land under control of one of the sovereign nations. In the decree, the Council states that with the Dynasty temporary under their control, Traetorian land can be considered temporary Confederate land. Once again President Maz has taken issue with this. He has already started a process of for the Decree of Traetorian Mourning to be appealed due to what he believes is an unconstitutional deployment of Confederate troops. The Falmi Chiefs are formalizing their support of his appeal and the Nintaran Low Legislative Court is forming a committee to investigate their own stance on the issue. If the League supports Maz' appeal, the decree will be censured and revoked.

Anonymous sources close to the Wraiths have said that given the political battle that is forming, the Confederate military believes that it is of the upmost importance that strikes against the Talaos insurgents began fast and hit hard. Apparently time tables are being sped up with the hope that if the decree is censured, the Wraiths will have broken the Talaos cells before being recalled back to Confederate territory. Word is that operations will began as early as tomorrow.

Motto:- The North Protects
National Anthem:-

BACKGROUND

The Griss Confederacy is an alliance and blending of a number of unique and different cultures. They have long stood together in the harsh frozen north of Cotf Aranye. The Confederacy is led by the Council of Elders, which is made up of the leader of each member nation- the Nintara League, the Traetor Dynasty, the Falmi Tribes, the Nova Republic, the Asur Kingdom, and the Helgaran Society. Confederates harbor a dislike for outsiders and as a society are extremely xenophobic. Their only major longstanding diplomatic relationship is with the barbaric Talaos, who have been nearly wiped out by constant conflicts. The Confederacy is also a place of deep spirituality. While most Grissin worship the Twin-God, they still practice many their individual cultural customs. Many religious societies known as Cadres exist across the Confederacy, often living in rural territory, distanced from the major cities.

Diplomacy and Events / The Call of the Imperium

An Official Dispatch to the Speaker of the Neo Quywe Federation

Dear Brilliant Speaker,

Given our comradely as two theocratic Ardian states, the Synod, in their infinite wisdom, has agreed that an official relationship between our two nations may bring prosperity to both our nations. While the Imperium has remained politically isolated for the entirety of our existence (our only really dealing with outsiders was constantly repealing invasions by the Ardian Empire), we boast one of the largest, most powerful, and growing economies in Mundus. A boon that could prove extremely valuable to our friends. In addition, Nyx wishes to understand the developing situation with the AHR. To further discussion and cordiality between us, the Synod officially invites you to the Royal Winter Home; Serraccosti, at your earliest convenience.

In Friendship,
Suzerain Wrex

Convention Centre / Royal Nyx Ballet Company World Tour OOC / Sign Ups
« on: December 24, 2019, 08:00:52 PM »
Hey all, so a fun and different RP idea here, but in the Imperium Ballet plays a huge cultural significance. And as such, I thought a unique way for the country to begin to enter the world stage would be a world tour done by the premier Nythymn company. This would mostly be RPed through News Articles and the like (although we could have a thread for one off vignettes of people interacting with the Ballet company i.e attending a masterclass or going to see a show). The basic schedule is two weeks in each location with 10 performances and 8 masterclasses in Nythymn Ballet. Also I'm extremely open for international incidents to occur, we'd work it out but this could be anything from a visa not being processed correctly to terrorists being involved.

This is the link for the current schedule (currently just a rough templated calendar):
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xCkyQi_S0XqIz2vbg7sBmZ5b3_7Qw6gnqcShwzAQSd4/edit?usp=sharing

The Sign Format is including below (keep in mind that while there is technically no limit to the amount of national cities that can sign up, I want to try and give as many people as possible a chance so if you want to submit multiple cities put them in order from most important to least)

Code: [Select]
Nation:
Proposed City:
Special Shows (any requests for special or unique shows to be added to the schedule, for example a show for the ruler of your nation, or a free / reduced charity show)
Special Requests: (Perhaps you want to Ballet Company to take a class in a local traditional dance, or a photoshoot, or anything of that nature that would affect the schedule)

Consecrated Diet Overturns Solillel Doctrine; Future of the Nation Uncertain

Across the Imperium, citizens are waking up to historic news- the Consecrated Diet has voted an end to the Solillel Doctrine. Last week, a special closed door session of the Diet was called by Suzerain Wrex. The Assembly has been in session for almost the entire week. Food was delivered directly to the meeting floor, and daily recesses were only called for short bathroom breaks and late into the night. No topic for the agenda was given to the public, nor any explanation. Because of this, speculation has been rampant.

Political analysts and sources close to the Assembly over the last week have offered a variety of ideas. These have ranged from the creation of a new ten year economic plan to a restructuring of the Consecrated Diet. But none guessed that it would be the calling of the Solillel Doctrine into question. For decades, Nyx has been unconcerned with any and all actions that occur outside of its borders. With the exception of economic ties and trading, the nation has been purposely absent from the world stage. This has allowed the Imperium to flourish, maintaining a golden age of peace and prosperity.

Now the future of Nyx is in flux. The long-held Solillel Doctrine has been a policy of political isolation and a focusing on internal affairs. Few are sure what exactly an end to isolation will mean or even what it will look like. The Suzerain released a statement early this morning shortly after the announcement.

Quote
The Imperium stands as one of the single greatest nations on the face of Mundus. We are the largest of nations and wield a massive and growing economy. Our people live full and wonderful lives. We are united in our love of the Goddess and we eagerly await to feel her embrace. But this has come as at a cost. We have ignored the rampant chaos outside of our ivory walls. We have ignored our sisters and brothers as they are crushed underfoot by the horrors of the modern age. Is this any way to act? For too long we have been content to sit at the dinner table and eat more than our fair share while those next to us are starving.

The modern world is a harsh master. Cultural Imperialism, Superpowers, Internationalism, Regional Power Blocs. It is a difficult world to navigate. And outsiders now wield the power to decide the fate of internal national matters. Look to the ongoing situation in Clysperis. A Pharaoh backed by outsiders and a rebel calling for his own international support. To our sensibilities this is no way to act. We have always thought to stand on your own is the greatest of achievements. But perhaps we are wrong.

If we continue to uphold the Solillel Doctrine, one day they will come calling and we will have to answer to foreigners on their terms, a position I will never allow Nyx to enter. We enter the world stage with no allegiances nor ancient connections or grudges. As such, we are not tied to the old world politics. East Moreland currently means the same thing to us that Quintelia currently does. Or Tamora and Toshikawa.

The outside world appears to be full of hypocrisy and morally bankrupt[1]. We shall examine and probe the nations of Mundus and judge accordingly. The Imperium will be the reckoning they deserve. The cataclysm[2] they have earned. We will stand firm on our principles and we will never back down, we will never surrender. The apocalypse has come and there is no middle ground left to flounder on.

 1. Note that the Nythymn have an extremely unique idea of ethics and morality
 2. In context of the Necrova, this means that the deserving shall be rewarded and the undeserving punished.

Motto:- Through Faith All is Forgiven
National Anthem:- Drunken Whaler (Ode to Necra)

BACKGROUND

The Nyx Imperium is an alliance of three nations; Siross, Asuria, and Erebyx. United by their religion, as the years have passed, the Imperium has come more to resemble a single nation. Nyx is a strange and unique place, its customs and culture unlike anywhere else in Mundus. The Imperium cares little for ethnicities or allegiances of the past, instead its population is organized into Stratums, a caste system. Rules and regulations are strict among the Stratums, but being born to one does not bound you to it for life. Mobility between the classes is possible. The government is organized partially through a combined effort of the Highborn and the Azrul.

Diplomacy and Events / Blood Rituals and Rebellion (Nyx and NQF)
« on: July 15, 2019, 07:00:29 AM »
Ju'sai felt the tang of violence in the air. She licked her lips and could almost taste blood. She looked over at Kaine. For her bodyguard, he didn't look that threatening. She pushed around the cyanide pill in her mouth. Nyx couldn't be catch in an uncompromising position. If they were discovered, there was virtually no way they could be connected to the Coalition directly. They had no form of identification on them, having burned their fake passports earlier, and the Coalition would never claim them for any reason. The pills were more of a comfort for Ju'sai and Kaine, so that they wouldn't have to spend out the rest imprisoned in a foreign land, or any of the worse options.

She watched Kaine very obviously check on the twin blades hidden along the sleeves of his shirt. She had never met the Dollic before, but she was starting to suspect that he wasn't use to these kinds of activities. "Is this your first mission like this?" He looked at her wide-eyed and nodded. "Just great. Don't do or say anything, okay? Follow my lead and we'll get out of this fine." Ju'sai was content to do the talking, it was what she was here for.

They were standing on the pickup site, an unassuming street. They were a few minutes early but waited anxiously anyways. This was where their instructions ended, once they made contact all the previously laid plans ended. "Do you enjoy being a Rikva?"

"You want to talk about this now?" Kaine looked fairly young, but his voice placed him even younger. 17, 18 would be Ju'sai's best guess.

"There isn't much else to pass the time. Take a deep breath, calm your nerves. This is what you've trained for. You'll make your order proud today. Now again, do you like being a Rikva?"

"I-I don't know...? I don't remember a time I didn't belong to the order. None of us do. That'd be like me asking if you like being a Hasheen." Ju'sai smiled at the word. It was so archaic, a dead word. She doubted anyone had ever referred to her as a Hasheen. Then again, she doubted anyone had ever called Kaine a Rikva, a revered blade.

"A fair point, Dollic." She wanted to remind the tool of its place. She had some experience with Death Dolls, although very limited. They always made her skin crawl, they were something only Necra could create.

"I could kill you right now. There is nothing stopping me from cutting your throat and running. No one would ever find me. I could live out the rest of my life in peace, free."

"You'd dare to kill a holy woman?"

"That's thing I don't understand about the Black Crypt. You preach all actions are acceptable, that morality is fluid and bendable, yet your create these arbitrary rules and expect them to be followed without question."

"You'd offend Necra, earn her scorn."

"Why does that matter? I'm a Dollic- a blasphemy. I have no soul, nothing to go to the afterlife when I die. You can't dominate me by threatening my eternity."

"Boy, if you were going to kill me you would have down it already. I grow tired of your insolence. So shut your mouth before you anger me." Kaine opened his mouth as if to say something and then closed it. Good, the livestock knew its place. They should have sent a Jisu Guard with her. A Jisu berserker would be unruly, but they at least have dignity. Dollic did not. Ju'sai would just have to be much crueler when dealing with him, a harsh tone was enough to quiet him. Dolls were always so scared of punishment, it made the priestess wonder just wait tortures they faced growing up. They waited in silence for their counterparts to appear.

DEEP DIVE: Nythymn and Horror Films
Deep Dive is an ongoing series in the Column that investigates the origins and history of cultural phenomenons within the Coalition.

One of the largest and favorite national pastimes in the Coalition, is the consumption of horrors films. Despite the fact that most horror films usually take place is societies and cultures outside of Nyx, they have gain huge popularity across the nation. In fact, horror movies are one of the main cultural connections Nythymn maintain to the outside world. Where does this fascinate with the horror genre come from and what does this say about us? These questions will be the focus of our deep dive investigation.

The first horror film widely introduced to Nyx was the 1922 Nosferatu in the 1940s. An unapproved adaptation of the classic Bram Stocker's Dracula, the film centers around Count Orlok. Nythymn saw what was meant to grotesque and horrifying and instead fell in love. Orlok would become a beloved cultural figure, his character design seen as cute and endearing by the Nythymn public. In addition, Orlok's position in the film as the "Bird of Death" directly characterizes him as a servant of Necra. This deviation in how the film was interpreted would be an endearing part of Nythymn film consumption. While horror films were meant to do just that- scare and terrify its audience, the Nythymn become more and more interested in the villains.

A new craze started to overtake the Coalition in the late 40s. Many began importing foreign horror films and publicly showing them. These public showing became huge community gatherings- often times taking place at cafes and restaurants at night. Most famous of this era are three films- Frankenstein, King Kong, and The Bride of Frankenstein. These three stand out because central to the narrative are three endearing outsiders. Creatures scorned and cast out from society. Nythymn saw themselves in Frankenstein's monster and in King Kong. They weren't evil, but rather a little strange and misunderstood. But in the same way that Nythymn are often seen as strange outside of the Coalition.

The 50s were a lackluster decade, with no real notable entires into the Nyx conscious. The 60s, on the other hand, were the complete opposite. Came the official imports and releases. Seeing just how popular monsters were, Nythymn theatres were able to accurately predict the next era of big films- Kaiju. Kaiju films were release almost simultaneously in the Coalition with their orginal foreign releases. Classic characters like Godzilla and Mothra dominated the big screens. And the Nythymn were primed to love these films more than any other audience in Mundus. Here was a culture that glorified rampant destruction and death. Images of god-like and awesome creatures trampling whole cities under foot were almost religious iconography.

During the 70s and 80s, Kaiju remained en vogue, but were accompanied by a new set of horror- occult. While a couple of films here and there were released, it was the 1975 Nyx release of The Exorcist that broke through to massive commercial success. The Exorcist would break all previous held records of the most grossing film in Nyx. A titled held for decades after its release. It is perhaps by understanding the importance this film holds that we can understand horror film culture today. The movie tells the story of a young girl possessed by a demonic entity. Her mother struggles to figure out what is wrong with her child, leading to her seeking the help of the Catholic church. This all comes to a head when the priests exorcise the young girl in a literal battle of good and evil.

Much of the acts of the forces of demons can be comparable to those of Necra. Rituals of the occult and satanic followers resemble those conducted every day by the Black Crypt. This creates a connection between Nythymn audiences and the villainous demons. But that is not to say that Nythymn are rooting for evil. In fact, it is the opposite. But this duality, this connect create conflict within the believers of Necrova. It is this conflict that is at the heart of the love for horror. This conflict is similar to a religious conflict Nythymn experience everyday. Necra is the Goddess of Death. The lives of her followers are a contradiction- we live waiting to be called by Necra, waiting to die. But still we must live. We must continue to walk on Mundus until our Goddess deems it our time. This conflict can by symbolized by the battle of good and evil in horror films. The demons, the occult, even the slasher killers comes to represent the dark nature of Necrova. They represent our love and obsession with death. But this evil must be triumph over. Good is victorious. Good which represent our need to remain in our place. To remain subservient to Necra, to do her will on Mundus, to follow her grand design.

We love the 164 foot tall scaly atomic breathing monster that represents man's self-made destruction. The destruction we all are patiently waiting for. We revel in the destruction and rot he causes, because this marks him as an agent of She We Love Most. Necra is cold and unknowable to all living things. Not unlike the monster created to frighten audiences. While a Morelander see a vampire and fears a creature that desires its blood, we see something akin to our Lord. While a Krimeonite sees a young girl running from a serial killer and sees her fear of death, we see the fear of our smallness in the face of a God. It is for this reason that horror is, and will likely continue, to be so widely and commercial successful in Nyx.

OOC Note: The Pantheon of the Hallowed is sort of the a side project of mine to create a deep and complex series of interconnected religions in Mundus that anyone can be apart of. As such, the religion is designed from the ground up to be customizable, and anyone is welcome to craft their own version. I've tried my best to keep descriptions of the Gods vague and up to interpretation. Feel free to rift and change things. Also your nation doesn't have to be one of the Hallowed Nations to have Pantheon believers or a Pantheon Sect within it. I only ask that if you do claim one of the Hallowed Nations, that the Pantheon be a major religion in the country. And even then, two different countries could both claim to be the Hallowed Nation of one God.

BACKGROUND

The Pantheon of the Hallowed is a pagan religion that worships a series of 9 Gods. Long ago, there were the 9 Hallowed Nations, each one representing one of the Gods. It is very common for followers of the Pantheon to chose one God to be their chosen Patron, the God they are most connected with.

Traits of Pantheon Religions

Celestial
Celestial is the language of the Gods. Although the language is dead, it is still important in holy rituals and ceremonies. It is believed that while all Celestial maintains the same base, there are different variations for each God.

Stars
The Stars play an important part of the Pantheon as they believe that the Stars are a gateway into the Heavens were the Gods reside.

Circles
Circles and spell wards are an important part of a believer’s faith. It is through Circles, that one is able to ask for protection, good luck, or anything else one would ask for a God. They are also how one purifies their soul- a sort of repentance or cleansing of sins.

Avatars
One of the major staples of the Pantheon is the ability of the Gods to walk on Mundus. They do this by creating human vessels to entomb part of their soul within. These vessels live full and complete lives as humans. Reformed Sects maintain they have an ability to verify Avatars, and once proven, they are Sanctified.

Reformed Sects
While the Pantheon of the Hallowed is a loose collection of pagan believers, some believers have created more organized versions of the Pantheon. These are the Reformed Sects, large offshoots of the Pantheon.

List of Reformed Sects
The Sect of Necra (Nyx)
The Sect of Lilith, the Dark Goddess (Tamora)

Diplomacy and Events / The Crowning of an Ascendant
« on: June 21, 2019, 06:05:36 PM »
An Official Invitation by way of the Coalition Delegation

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Ascendant Xirk. Although there is little cause for remorse as he joins Necra in eternity. We are proud to announce his successor, Natrax. For the first time in many years, we would like to extend a formal invitation across Mundus to world leaders and the influential to attend the Crowning of the new Ascendant. Visitors will be granted special permissions to view parts of the Crowning few unbelievers ever get a chance at. We eagerly look forward to meeting those that can attend.

Signed,
Empress Qi’rrow
Suzerain Wrex
Vaticinator Vizla
Archdruid Iaxxodril
Matriarch Arre’a
Ionia Maar Velkin

Suzerain Wrex was still adjusting to the sunlight. It wasn't often that the skies were so clear on the Island of Erebyx. It was quite the contrast from the normal storm clouds and rain. He thought it might be a bad omen for such a large state visit, but decided to put such thoughts away. His more spiritual contemporaries could worry about that. He had chosen the pleasure of greeting the foreign dignitaries first, and most importantly, alone. The rest of the Coalition Delegation was already inside Black Crypt. Thousands of the faithful have gathered in Fyrla if only to catch a glimpse of the new Ascendant.

Wrex waited at the grand doors of the Crypt. The foreigners would be transported by from the airport directly. They had shut down all necessary roads to speed the journey. He had heard that there were even crowds all along the barriers welcoming the foreigners. It was not unheard of for unbelievers to come to the crowning, but to actually witness the ceremony was extremely rare. He wasn't sure how they would react to the purification rituals they would have to undergo, but such was the way it worked. Natrax was an unknown to him. She's much younger than the previous Xirk. Whether that meant she would be easy to reign in or not had yet to be seen.

Wrex, himself, was a built like an ox. He wore a layered suit in the style of outsiders to appear more welcoming. It might have the opposite effect. The clothes were tight and restricted his movement. Not to mention they only added to his size. He also wore a pair of dark shades with a thin rim. They appeared quiet small in contrast to his face. The first car pulled up and Wrex motioned to the attendants to open the car door. A pair of figures in flowing black robes with a white cloth covering their mouths quickly moved and open the door. They bowed and motioned the first guest towards Wrex.

"It is my distinct honor and pleasure to welcome you to the Nyx Coalition, and more specifically Erebyx. I am Suzerain Wrex, mouthpiece of the Empress."

OOC: Wanted to jump start all the national introductions, so feel free to just show up.

BACKGROUND

The Nyx Coalition is an alliance of three nations; Siross, Asuria, and Erebyx. United by their religion, as the years have passed, the Coalition has come more to resemble a single nation. Nyx is a strange and unique place, its customs and culture unlike anywhere else in Mundus. The Coalition cares little for ethnicities or allegiances of the past, instead its population is organized into Stratums, a caste system. Rules and regulations are strict among the Stratums, but being born to one does not bound you to it for life. Mobility between the classes is possible. The government is organized partially through a combined effort of the Highborn and the Azrul.

Vignettes / The Annual State Visit to the Bloodplains
« on: May 19, 2019, 10:46:27 AM »
Iaxxioldril was annoyed. No one ever wanted to go to the Bloodplains. Why would they? It was hot and dry, extremely uncomfortable. And then there was the Maar. As High Seer, Iaxxioldril should love all the people of Orphela. But he wasn't the standard High Seer. For one, he was way younger than the majority of his previous contemporaries. He was actually much closer to the Crystal Princess' age than the Governess'. Him wining the election last year was a major surprise, especially since he hadn't actually campaigned. That fact wasn't all that uncommon, candidates for the position of High Seer are nominated, regardless of the candidates feelings on the matter. A number of individuals have become High Seer throughout history despite not wanting to. Iaxxioldril was another in the long tradition. And now he had to go to the Bloodplains.

What annoyed him most was that he shouldn't have to do this. It was Niru's responsibility. But her meeting with the Moreland King delayed her. She still had business to finish at court and wouldn't have made it to the Maar in time. So instead of causing a political incident, Iaxxioldril now had be the peacemaker. He shuddered at the thought. The clans were unruly at the best of times. And these were not the best of times. Niru was slowly opening the Imperium's borders and the backlash could be felt throughout the nation. If she wasn't careful, it could mean disaster. Not to mention his own feelings on the subject. Not that he was consulted. Iaxxioldril had always thought he was one of Niru's greatest allies at court- its not like the calculating Castrate could be counted on to remain loyal. But his very public friendship with the Governess was costing him more and more these days.

Iaxxiodril was taking the train into the Bloodplains. There was only one line in and it would take him straight to where he need to go- the Maar city; Jin'Lar. Jin'Lar was famous because it was the only Maar city, although most of the time it was barely populated. Although if need be it could accommodate all the Maar clans. It shouldn't be very crowded today, only the Clan elites and elders would be at the state visit.

Iaxxiodril stared out the window and they past into the Bloodplains. He watched as the green grass disappeared, turning into the light brown of the desert. It's hard to believe that this was once the fertile crescent. In ancient times, the Azrul ruled this land. Their city-states dominated the landscape. It is said that the Azrul cities were rich and grand beyond measure. But then the Maar came. At first they couldn't threaten the cities, and they stoke to raiding the outline villages and towns. But when they banned together, they would besiege the cities for months. If they were able to break through, it would mean massacre for the Azrul. Eventually the Azrul would just offer the Maar gifts when they neared. In return, the clans wouldn't attack the cities. It lasted for sometime, but eventually the blood and bodies ruined the soil. The Azrul couldn't farm and the cities wealth was lost. The Maar eventually destroyed every one. The Azrul were forced to flee east, further into Orphela. This is how the Bloodplains came to be.

As Iaxxodril became entranced by the history of this land, they began to pass the building of new infrastructure. The soil replenishment facilities. Niru really thought she could undo what the Maar had done. If she was right, if it work, it would be a new age for the Imperium. Their heavy reliance on foreign agriculture was a great detriment to their economy. Orphela was heavily invested in fossil fuels- it was a cheap way to make money. And they needed money to cover from the glaring gaps in the economy. If it wasn't for oil, the Imperium would starve and they would all be living in poverty. By fertilizing the soil, they were taking a step away from this. But even if it was possible, there was till a huge issue- where would the Maar Clans go? Iaxxodril doubted they would just simply agree to leave their homelands. And even if they did, there wasn't another place in the Imperium for them to live. It was a complex problem, one he wanted no part in. Niru could figure it out on her own.

Famous 90s Art Piece, My Bed, to be Displayed Again

The famous art piece, My Bed, was first shown in the Collective Nitehymn Modern Art Exhibit (CNME) in 1999. It was an instant hit and put the up and coming young artist, Nemra Saanliu, firmly on the national stage. Sannliu would come to be known for her confessional and autobiographical work, working in a variety of mediums, including painting, sculptures, and film. Due to the pieces importance, the CNME eventually bought My Bed in 2005, for §2 Million. The Exhibit chose to put it into storage for preservation. Since then it has only been seen by a handful of individuals.

The CNME has recently announced for the first time in their 14 years of owning the piece that it will be displayed as the center piece of a Nemra Saanliu retrospective collection in time for the 20th anniversary of My Bed's first showing. Saanliu, infamous for having given up art and retreating from public life, is rumored to possibly make an appearance at the collections opening ball, rightfully called The Confessional. The guest list is already a tightly guarded secret, but an anonymous source has confirmed that Crystal Princess Quin, who has not been seen in public since her adoption, is on the list. Could it be that our heir apparent is an art lover?

Whatever the case maybe, this is sure to be one of the highlights for Orphela art this year. And it is no doubt the CNME's response to their major competitor, The Society of Independent Artists announcing their own post-post modern exhibit.

Governess Poses for Annual State Photograph

Last week, Governess Niru posed for the annual state photograph, which was officially released today. The state photograph is an important tradition and dates back centuries. Of course, originally it was a state portrait and before that a sculpture. It is also traditional for the monarch to personally chose an unknown artist to capture them. This can be extremely invaluable and has been responsible for making a number of photographer’s careers in recent years. For this year, the Governess chose Zephira Xel. Xel is 19 years old and an up and coming fashion photographer. She is known for working with a number of her own personal friends, young and underground fashion designers. No doubt, by elevating Xel, Niru has elevated the whole collective who will now have their chance to make a mark on the Nitehymn fashion world.

As per usual, the Governess has issued an interesting policy change along with the photograph. Although this one might be one of the biggest in recent memory. Her statement is below:

Quote
It is with great joy that I announce that once again the Imperium will begin seeking international relationships. While we have never closed our borders, for too long have we mostly ignored the rest of Mundus. As the bastion of the Pantheon of the Hallowed, it is our duty to set an example for the rest of the world and for followers of our faith. For too long have we ignored our sisters and brothers in our faith simply because they live outside this nation. No longer will we allow this to continue. It is my hope that in time, the Imperium will become a center for peace and stability across Mundus.

Political analysts are still still in a disarray as to what this could mean for the nation, although for the most part they remain hopeful. This timing of this announcement is also curious given in the next few weeks the Governess' schedule will be bogged down by the annual state visit to the Bloodplains to meet with the leaders of the Maar Clans. Still it is an exciting time as the Imperium enters a new era.
