A spiral associated with the Götterlauf faith found on a standing stone
The Götterlauf FaithThe Götterlauf faith is the primary religion of the Federation with around 85% of people following it. The faith teaches that the Universe is in an endless cycle of creation, destruction and re-creation. There have been a number of previous incarnations of the universe and in each mankind has been lead by a God who has revealed themselves "close to the end." The exact timing of these existences is unknown and while the phrase "Close to the end" can be used it is unknown whether that is a handful of years or several thousand years before the destruction of the universe. The faithful believe that the better condition humanity is left in will ensure a better rebirth and therefore a better existence in the future. Each persons soul can exist just once in each creation and the God in charge of that creation uses each person as almost a piece within a strategy game. It is believed that once the Universe is destroyed that God joins the other past Gods in paradise and can take a variety of the most faithful with them. It is therefore the hope of each member of the faith that they will lead a life that will ensure that they are able to be selected to join the Gods. The Priesthood and those with deep knowledge of the faith are able to access the knowledge of prior times and prior Gods.
