The Righteous Empire of Listeria was founded in the tenth century by Righteous Emperor Elia, who united the various warring kingdoms under his rule and instituted widespread reforms (many of which persist today) binding the disaporate states into one single centralised Empire. The Righteous Empire has remained insular and isolated for centuries, with the Righteous Empire more engaged in internal disputes over the Imperial dynasty and various positions within the Imperial Bureaucracy than external expansion or diplomacy. However, like with all things modernity came knocking and under Righteous Emperor Iskandor Walken widespread modernising reforms were instituted in 1841, the scale of which had not been seen since the reign of Righteous Emperor Elia. The influence of aristocrats and nobility was decimated across Listeria, with a political repression crushing them under foot and cementing the dynasty of Walken as the sole political power in Listeria. Even the Imperial Bureaucracy, which had not seen an update in centuries, was overhauled. Nowadays, Listeria is a developing nation, ruled by the Righteous Emperor Safadin Walken who rules Listeria with a righteous and iron first.

The flag of Listeria is the personal standard of the Righteous Emperor. The current flag symbolises the harmony of the empire, with the golden sunburst representing the spiritual and temporal authority of the Righteous Emperor.

Ceticism

Within the Righteous Empire of Listeria, religion is largely defined by its relationship to the Righteous Emperor of Listeria. In the 10th century the first Listerian Emperor, Elia, instituted widespread religious reforms in order to cement control over Listeria unifying the various faiths, beliefs and beliefs into a single belief system known as Imperial Ceticism.
Ceticism is an atheistic belief system that advocates achieving harmony within life and society through following the teachings of various teachers, known as “Cetics”. The regard held towards Cetics varies from respect to veneration, but the list of Cetics is formulated by the Righteous Emperor who additionally determines how the Cetics teachings are to be interpreted. The Righteous Emperor holds this right due to their status as a Cetic themself. Cetics vary in where they come from or even what religion they themselves profess, with figures even such as Jesus Christ and Mohammed (PBUH) considered as Cetics, though divorced from their claims of religious providence.

Cetics
A comprehensive list of Cetics and their contributions to Ceticism would take up entire books, as the list of Cetics has been constantly added to and tweaked for over a millennium. A Righteous Emperor, upon their ascension to the throne, will typically name dozens of new Cetics, including their predecessor, in order to establish a standard in the goals of Ceticism during their reign. All Cetics who have been named have been dead at the time of their naming, partly because someone’s teachings cannot change after they die and also partly because there can only be one living Cetic. The Righteous Emperor may make interpretations of the Cetics at will, though more than slight tweaks are rare. Huge shifts in interpretations typically raise great upset in almost all elements of society: large changes in interpretations herald either a period of great reform or a period of great unrest.

The Righteous Emperor of Listeria
Safadin Walken; The Grand Aureate, Their Righteousness, The Lawgiver, Heir of All of the Emperors, Child of Heaven, Lord of The Rivers and the Lakes, Chief Justice and Arbiter, Warden of the Forests, Peace Bringer to the West and to the East, Defender of the Honour of the Righteous Dead, First Among the Honoured, Enlightened Bearer of the Crown Chakra, Patron of the Legions, Enlightened holder of the Golden Throne, Living Cetic, Master of All other Masters, Perpetrator of Civilization, True Philosopher King, Teacher of All Enlightened, First of All Equals, Supreme Leader, and Righteous Emperor of the Righteous Empire of Listeria rules with an iron first.
The government of Listeria can only be called an Absolutist Theocratic Monarchy. The Righteous Emperor wields both temporal and spiritual power in order to cement their control over the state. They are the legislature, the executive and the judiciary, being the sole political power within the Righteous Empire. All political power emerges from their will. Though the Righteous Emperor is expected to take a heavy hand in the daily running of the Righteous Empire, they are not above delegating power to those with relevant expertise, and as such they are often assisted by small cliques of “Regulators” who exert some influence through their advisement of the Righteous Emperor.
Though the position of the Righteous Emperor was often up for grabs to the ambitious general or diligent noble, in the modern day the position has been locked into passing through the various members of the Walken dynasty. Even then, however, there is still no written down method of succession. Upon the death of the previous Righteous Emperor, there is a frantic scramble by their children and siblings to secure enough support from the army and their family in order to install themselves as the new Righteous Emperor. Succession can vary from an entirely bloodless and smooth affair to a massacre of other claimants to even civil war.

The Imperial Bureaucracy
Whilst the Righteous Emperor stands as the ultimate centre of power, the practical administration of the Righteous Empire is undertaken by a vast but disciplined bureaucracy. The bureaucracy is meritocratic, with potential bureaucrats being required to acquire a specialised degree that teaches both civil service and the teachings of Ceticism. It is not immune to corruption however, as the bureaucracy is a structured hierarchy, with higher-up bureaucrats appointing those below them, going all the way up to the Righteous Emperor, with favouritism and lackeyism being a persistent rot though the bureaucracy becomes far more disciplined and strict as time goes on. Bureaucrats wield immense local power in Listeria, being both local administrators and judges.

Overview
The plurality of the Listerian economy is still rooted in agriculture, making up roughly just less than a third of the economy. It is shortly followed by the manufacturing industry, making up roughly one fifth of the economy; the services sector, making up roughly fifteen percent; an energy sector, making up also roughly fifteen percent; the resources sector, roughly ten percent; and a small burgeoning technology sector, making up just under ten percent.

Agriculture (30%):
The Agricultural sector is made up of a variety of crops and animals. The [CirtusRegion] produces mostly oranges and lemons, with a great number of vineyards. Livestock is mostly raised in the [CowRegion], with it being mostly cattle and herds of sheep. All across the country, farms also raise various vegetables including tomatoes, peppers, avocados and grow grains such as wheat and barley.

Manufacturing (20%):
The manufacturing sector is dominated by food processing and canning, though there is a growing hard industry, producing mostly manufacturing equipment and construction equipment.
