Health Care | Universal access, however different insurance providers all have different policies when it comes to elective medical procedures and alternative cover The PFS (Pharmaseutical Funding Subsidy) introduced in 1973 under the Shangzin Provision to cover a percentage of the cost of selling on counter and off counter drugs to east the cost of medications which is averaged out and capped to the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Currently the subsidised price rate of counter and off counter medications is 67% and is reviewed every 3 years. The Public Health and Safety Act of 1970 lays out the groundwork for creating the agencies of the FCPA (Federal Commission of Pharmaceutical Administration) which grants regulatory power over the price of medications in compliance with the PFS and have safety standards for medications. Also created the FOPHR (Federal Office of Public Health Research) which is charged with funding and conducting research and development of projects in the areas of epidemiology, immunology and virology and disease prevention. |
Gun Laws | The ownership and use of firearms is regulated by the Firearms Ownership Act of 2001. A license is always needed for possession of a firearm and all firearms as well as the suppliers of firearms are all registered. Firearms may only be carried while they are being used for a specific purpose (e.g. hunting, shooting at ranges). Various amendments were added over the years this includes the following: The Income Tax Assessment Act (ITAA) of 1963 laid the foundation of the current tax code The Jinyai Amendment of 1967 which grants consumer protections from predatory practises on behalf of the consumer. The Un-Wai Amendment of 1970 which introduced strong competition laws that prohibited price fixing, and put in place strong anti-monopoly laws. The Chang & Wen-Li Act of 2010 which separated the banking and financial sector operations from retail banking deposits of regular peoples savings accounts from high finance investment accounts after the aftermath of the Jiayuanese recession which spanned from 2009 to 2011 |
