Vatican News is the new information system of the Holy See. It began on June 27th 2015 with the publication of a Motu Proprio by Pope Peter II which announced the creation of a new Dicastery of the Celestian Curia: the Vatican Secretariat for Communication.

Vatican News goes beyond the idea of simple digital convergence by responding to, and even anticipating, the continual changes concerning where and how we communicate. It finds its expression and interaction on a platform that is multilingual, multicultural, multichannel, multimedia and multidevice.
There are four categories providing information on the activities of the Pope, the Vatican, local Churches and world news updates. A “super editorial team”, initially composed of six language departments (English, Italian, French, German, Spanish and Portuguese), will later expand to include another 33 languages. Their purpose is not just to inform, but to offer a key to interpreting news and information in the light of the Gospel.

The challenge is to respond “ever better to the needs of the mission of the Church” in our contemporary culture, with the aim of “communicating the Gospel of mercy to all peoples” according to their different cultures.

The guiding criteria are those of being “apostolic and missionary, paying special attention to situations of hardship, poverty and difficulty”. (Address of Pope Peter II to the Plenary Assembly of the Secretariat for Communication, May 4th 2017)

The present Editor-in-Chief ad interim is Msgr Lucio Adrian Ruiz.

"The Latest Gospels from the House of Cardinals"

Pope's Bizarre Crazyness Wins Affection

"I can't feel my face when I'm my second self": Pope Peter II  fell foul to some rather ugly facial expressions as he pulled a series of funny faces

Pope Peter II revealed today in a live press conference the reasonings behind his well-reputable, strange behaviour that some (un)lucky people across all spheres of life might experience, from random tantrums to overdeveloped hysteria, occur due to the fact that he has an undiagnosed two-personality disorder that had only been recently discovered after undergoing a brief Doctor's checkup, while personally apologising to all those he unintentionaly harmed through words and action citing that "Sometimes I wish to be able to control said bad behaviour, as it's just piling up the negative sides of my position as Pontiff and naturally I'd like it for be the opposite." The audience actually experienced it as Pope Peter II made bizarre and strange facial expressions, acknowledging that today with a combination of medicine and prayer he managed to finally soften said behaviour.

It seemed that the majority of the audience were convinced by the Holy Father's sincerity, honesty and transparency as many then stood up, applauded and exclaimed 'Papa Petrus!' while clapping in a rythmic fashion.

Besides such revelation, the Pope adressed many other issues including the ongoing conflict between the Iwi and Royal Seleucids, calling for peace and mutual understanding between both sides, stressing the importance of the power of diplomatic solutions rather than the force of arms for the sake of both peoples and everyone else on Mundus.

Nabu probes for Ecclesiastical space mission to be launched in October

The Nabu Magnetospheric Orbiter (left) and the Nabu Planetary Orbiter developed by the Ecclesiastical Space and Exploration Agency examine Nabu in this illustration. The two probes are expected to be launched in October

Two Ecclesiastical probes will be launched aboard an Ariane 5 rocket in October. Nabu, the closest planet to the sun, is 4,880 km (3,026 miles) in diameter and two-fifths the size of Mundus. It is still shrouded in mystery because it is so difficult to observe or reach by probes from Mundus. Scientists are excited about the mission, which will see the probes reach Nabu at the end of 2025. They say the mission will lead to discoveries that will probably force textbooks to be rewritten.

The Nabu Magnetospheric Orbiter will orbit the planet to observe its magnetic field and internal structure, including the molten metallic core while the Nabu Planetary Orbiter will examine the planet’s terrain, mineral composition and other features. “Information on newly born terrestrial planets should be left on Nabu, which does not have an atmosphere,” said Fernando La Forgia, assistant professor at the Ecclesiastical Space and Exploration Agency who is in overall charge of the mission.

La Forgia added that the mission will provide important clues as to how Mundus was formed and why it has taken a different form compared with Nergal and Ishtar. In recent years, scientists have found terrestrial planets outside the solar system that, like Nabu, closely orbit their stars. A better understanding of Nabu is expected to contribute to research into the possibility of life on planets outside the solar system.

“Our mission will delve into the mysteries of whether there is another Mundus and whether humankind is alone,” La Forgia said.

EANS Jesus Christ pays tribute to World War veterans

EANS Jesus Christ: Oldest comissioned Ecclesiastical battleship

The EANS Jesus Christ is taking a trip across Shidarekawa Bay in honor of World War veterans and to mark the 80th anniversary of full-scale ES involvement in the 2nd part of the Great War.

ES' oldest commissioned battleship still afloat from 1939 is scheduled to leave its berth at the local Celestis Navy Yard Friday morning and head across Celestis Bay where it will fire a 34-gun salute in the direction of a World War memorial. Local batteries and field artiller from the Ground Forces will return the salute.

Nearly 500 World War veterans will join military and civic leaders on the journey.

Mission & Armament
Jesus Christ's stated mission today is to promote understanding of the Navy's role in war and peace through educational outreach, historical demonstration, and active participation in public events as part of the Naval History & Heritage Command. As a fully commissioned ES Navy ship, her crew of 240 officers and sailors participate in ceremonies, educational programs, and special events while keeping her open to visitors year round and providing free tours. The officers and crew are all active-duty Navy personnel, and the assignment is considered to be special duty. Traditionally, command of the vessel is assigned to a commander; ES' armament is also justified as it rarely participates in Naval missions if required.

World's first electrified public road opens in Dover

The truck is the first fully electrified lorry to be approved for operation on a public road.

The 2km stretch outside Stokjen International Airport was inaugurated on Monday in a ceremony attended by Dover's Ecclesiastical Councilor for Land, Infrastructure and Transport. An electric truck working for the logistics company Oceanic Worldwide will over the next 12 months use the road to stay charged as it shuttles deliveries between the Airport and its distribution centre 12km away.

The truck has been fitted with a connector underneath its chassis which attaches to an electrified groove in the road, drawing power like a car on a Scaletrix track. "Everything is 100 percent automatic, based on the connector magnetically sensing the road," Hans Säll, Umbrella project leader, said. "As a driver you drive as usual, the connector goes down onto the track automatically and if you leave the track, it goes up automatically." He said that in a commercial application, it would be easy to handle billing and permissions.

"You can send data through electric cables, so it's no problem to identify the car, and the rail will know if you are allowed to draw electricity or not and it will be able to charge you". But Säll stressed said that despite this, the safety risk is minimal. "The electricity is about 6cm down in the tracks and the electricity is also connected to the earth, so even if we flood the road with salt water, if you measure the electricity at the surface, it's less than one volt."

Trolltunga sees record year with drop in rescues

The Troll's tongue (Trolltunga)

Guides on the mountain trail have been credited for a sharp fall in the number of tourists being rescued for Dover’s popular Trolltunga hiking trail. The extension into next year of an initiative to increase guards on the path to the attraction remains unconfirmed, but authorities hope for its continuation. The unusual and spectacular rock formation has also become more popular than ever before, according to visitor figures.

81,655 people have visited the attraction so far this year, an increase of 19 percent in comparison with 2016. Trolltunga (Nordic for Troll's Tongue) is a rock formation that juts out horizontally from the mountainside 700 metres above the north side of the Ringedalsvatnet lake.

One consequence of the explosion in popularity has been a need for rescue operations on the path leading to the site. In 2016, the Association of the Immaculate Heart dispatched nun rescuers to help injured and tired tourists from the path on 40 occasions.

That number has almost halved to 21 so far in 2018. The reduction in rescue missions is partly due to an initiative introduced during the summer of this year in which 24-hour monitoring was placed on the trail in the form of a watchmen. A cabin for the service was also put in place.

CNN Exclusive Rifle-Mounted Sensor Can Hear and Locate the Source of Enemy Gunfire

The PEARL system alerts users to the direction of hostile shots

A new portable system small enough to mount on a personal firearm provides its user with the ability to quickly locate the source of hostile gunfire. The PEARL system, created by Doverian Umbrella Corporation, uses acoustic sensors to determine the source of gunfire during the confusion of combat. The PEARL system detects the shock waves generated by muzzle blasts from small arms fire. These shock waves travel through the air, radiating from all directions, like radar or sonar waves. With the help of advanced acoustic sensors, PEARL can trace them back to their point of origin.

Although so-called “shot spotting” technology has been out for some time now, PEARL’s system is small enough to mount on a helmet or rifle. The system attaches to the top Picatinny rail of a modern assault rifle and directs the user toward the source of gunfire via LED arrows. PEARL can provide the azimuth and elevation of gunshots, allowing the user to orient on the threat and act accordingly. The system is accurate within plus-or-minus 7.5 degrees azimuth, and can detect “small and medium caliber weapons,” likely meaning from pistol calibers to 7.62-millimeter machine guns.

PEARL is designed to work in both urban and mountainous terrain, where the sound of gunshots might echo off multiple surfaces. It can also filter out friendly outgoing fire from hostile incoming fire. The system is supposed to be "soldier-proofed"—self-enclosed without any pesky wires and with only three control buttons.

Dr. Hugo Strange, Umbrella project leader, describes PEARL as a “soldier protection” system, but the system clearly has offensive applications. PEARL can help friendly attacking forces spot hidden defenders, systematically rooting them out. Strange further claims that the technology is “in its infancy, and additional field testing is required for any feedback whatsoever.” A more advanced version of PEARL, the PILAR system, can tell users the range of the enemy gunfire, GPS coordinates, and display on a map the source of the gunfire. Thus samples of both the PEARL and PILAR system will be distributed to each of the main CNN members' armed forces for the above mentioned purposes.

Archbishop Becciu - new Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints

Archbishop Giovanni Becciu

Pope Peter II on Saturday appointed a new man to head the Vatican’s office that is charged with the process of beatification and canonization of candidates to sainthood. The Pope appointed 69-year old Archbishop Giovanni Angelo Becciu as the new Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. He will assume his post at the end of August and will until then continue his duties in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Archbishop Becciu who is among the 14 new cardinals that Pope Peter II will create on June 29, succeeds 79-year old Cardinal Angelo Amato who is well past the retirement age of 75. Cardinal Amato has been heading the Congregation since 2008.

Two different forms of water isolated for first time

The two different forms of water (blue or red arrows) react with the diazenylium atoms at different speeds

Water molecules were known to exist as two distinct "isomers", or types, based on their slightly different properties at the atomic level. By separating out the two isomers, Umbrella researchers were able to show that they behave differently in the way that they undergo chemical reactions. In basic terms, water molecules consist of a single oxygen atom bonded to a pair of hydrogen atoms (H₂O). However, they can be further subdivided based on a property of the nuclei at the hearts of the hydrogen atoms - their "spin".

While they aren't spinning in the sense we would understand, this property of hydrogen nuclei does affect the rotation of the water molecules themselves. If the nuclear spins of the two hydrogen atoms in water are oriented in the same direction, it is called ortho-water. If they are arranged in different directions, it is known as para-water. Given that the isomers are very similar, it has been particularly challenging to separate them out. But Dr. Stefan Willitsch and his colleagues succeeded in doing it using electric fields. They were then able to investigate how the different forms of water reacted with another chemical.

They used ultracold diazenylium ions (a form of nitrogen) for this test. The researchers found that para-water reacted about 25% faster with the diazenylium than ortho-water. Because the rotation of H₂O molecules is affected by the nuclear spin, different attractive forces act between the partners in this chemical reaction. The researchers supported this interpretation using computer modelling. Dr. Willitsch, from the Umbrella Corporation, said the research could help improve control over other kinds of chemical reaction. "The better one can control the states of the molecules involved in a chemical reaction, the better the underlying mechanisms and dynamics of a reaction can be investigated and understood," he said.

Överflöd Agera RS Completes 0-400-0 KM/H in 36.44 seconds

The Agera RS is a successor to the Överflöd CCX/CCXR. The name comes from the Nordic verb 'agera' which means "to act" or in imperative form "(You) act!"

The Agera RS was driven by Koenigsegg factory driver, Niklas Lilja, at Vandel Airfield in ES. The Agera RS took 26.88 seconds to accelerate to 400 km/h over a distance of 1,958 meters. Deceleration took 9.56 seconds over 483 meters. The total distance used for 0-400-0 was 2,441 meters. Those times are for the 0-400-0 section of the run. The entire run saw a speed of 403 km/h attained before deceleration began. The entire run from 0-403-0 km/h took 37.28 seconds over a distance of 2,535m. Performance data for the run was captured using an AiM EVO5 data logger along with an AiM GPS08.

Although it didn't the break the world record as of now, Christian von Överflöd, Founder and CEO, was pleased with the outcome nonetheless and shed information as to how close the company is to do so:

“It makes me so proud, so happy and excited to see what we have achieved as a team with the Agera RS. A result like this does not just happen. It may have only taken a few hours of driving to complete this run, but we cannot overlook all of the work that went into creating the car in the first place. Building these cars takes everything we have. We give it our all, every day of every week. Without this commitment to excellence, we would not be worthy of either the result or the reward.

Dreams CAN become reality. The story of David and Goliath continues to resonate. It is so important to visualize our efforts and results. It gives fuel to the dreamers and visionaries striving to realise their goals. YOU CAN DO IT, regardless of how impossible it seems. This is probably the most important aspect and consequence of what we do here at Överflöd.

I want to thank our employees, close partners, and everyone who is committed to our ongoing mission. Special thanks must go to our driver, Niklas Lilja, for the steely determination he showed at the wheel to turn something that we knew was a distinct possibility into a concrete reality."

It is expected that in the coming weeks, Överflöd will attempt at another speed test, to hopefully once and for all set a world record.

Inquisition agents bust drug-fueled gay orgy at home of cardinal’s aide

The Holy Father is “enraged,” since the home, inhabited by Cardinal Francesco Coccopalmerio’s secretary, belongs to the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith — the arm charged with tackling clerical sex abuse, was raided by Inquisition agents following a drug-fueled gay-sex party according to a new report.

Inquisition agents raided the apartment in late May after neighbors voiced concern about "multiple people acting strangely and making weird animal noises" while streaming in and out of the residence. Once agents were inside the apartment, they said they found multiple men engaged in rampant drug use and homosexual activity. They then arrested the priest after taking him to a clinic to detox from the drugs he’d ingested. The unnamed aide is now currently under Inquisition custody.

Pope Peter II “has decided to accelerate the retirement” of Coccopalmerio, who serves as president of the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts, the paper said. Coccopalmerio had recommended the secretary for a promotion to bishop — but his prospects aren’t looking good following this incident and two previous alleged drug overdoses.

“In the Curia there are holy people, it’s true, there are holy people,” Peter II said shortly after. “But there is also a current of corruption, this as well, it’s true. People talk about a ‘gay lobby’ and it is true. It exists and we will have to see what we can do about it.”

Vatican convicts former Holy See diplomat for child pornography

The Vatican trubunal in session in the child pornography case of Monsignor Carlo Capella on June 23, 2018

The Vatican court on Saturday convicted a former Holy See diplomat, sentencing him to five years in prison for the “possession and distribution of child pornography with the aggravating circumstance of its large quantity,” in what is the first trial of its kind inside the Vatican.

Monsignor Carlo Alberto Capella who served as a councillor at the Apostolic Nunciature in New Zion City, New Zion, admitted to viewing the images during what he called a period of "fragility" and interior crisis. Tribunal President Giuseppe Dalla Torre read out the verdict after a two-day trial and sentenced the 50-year old priest to five years in prison and a fine of $6,000.

Msgr. Capella, ordained a priest of Miragliano Archdiocese in 1993, will serve the sentence in the Vatican barracks, where he has been held since his arrest on April 7 after his recall from New Zion. In August 2017, the Knights of St. Lazarus had notified the Holy See regarding a possible violation of laws relating to images of sexual abuse of children by a member of the Holy See’s diplomatic mission in New Zion City.

Police, said they had issued an arrest warrant for him on suspicion of possessing and distributing child abuse images on the internet while visiting a church in NZ. The Vatican prosecution had called for a stiffer sentence of 5 years and 9 months in prison and $10,000 fine, given what it described as an excessive amount of child pornography material.

The priest said he realized that his actions were vulgar and "improper," and apologized for the pain his "fragility" and "weakness" had caused his family, his diocese and the Holy See.

Calcio Storico, ES's most violent tradition, Kicks Off!
On June 24th each year, Florentia's main square turns into an arena for a sport which is a brutal combination of rugby, football, and wrestling

Calcio Storico (Historical football) is a game thought up by 16th-century Florentians and as the name suggests, it's an early - and very violent - form of football. It was also known as giuoco del calcio fiorentina (Florentian kicking game) and was very popular several centuries ago. These days, your only chance to watch a match is in June, when four local teams battle it out in Florentia to be crowned the champions. The whole city turns out to enjoy the spectacle.

So how does one play it? Well, the game is played on a rectangular field with a length roughly twice as long as the width, and covered with sand. It's divided down the middle into two matching squares, with goal nets at each end.

Two teams of 27 players take part in the matches which last for 50 minutes. No substitutions are allowed, even if there are injuries - which there often are. The ball is thrown into the centre of the pitch, and the teams descend on it in an effort to gain possession and kick it over a fence at the opposing team's end of the field.

Players can use hands and feet and tactics such as tripping and tackling are also admissible, meaning things get pretty violent - though there is a long list of rules aimed at keeping injuries to a minimum, updated from the original version written by a Renaisance count. For example, while many fighting techniques (including martial arts) are allowed, it's not OK for more than one player to attack a single opponent at once.

While there have been no deaths during the game in modern times, there have been numerous cases of players hospitalized, sometimes for months. New rules in recent years banned convicted criminals from taking part.

Four teams take part in the Florentinan Calcio Storico, each representing a different district of the city. Semi-finals take place early in June, with the pairings decided by drawing coloured balls on Easter Sunday, and the finals are held on June 24th, the feast day of Florentia's patron saint, John the Baptist. The rules regarding participation in the tournament were changed recently, so only people born in Florentia or who have lived in the area for at least ten years can take part. Those rule changes also aimed to cut down on violence, for example banning head-to-head clashes.

The winning team used to take home a butchered calf, but now they get a free ready-cooked dinner at a restaurant. There's no official prizegiving or medal ceremony - the players play for glory.

Pope's Message of the Day:
"Faith in Jesus Christ frees us from sin, sadness, emptiness, isolation. It is the source of a joy that no one can ever take away."

Holy See urges legislation for transnational corporations to respect human rights, environment

The Holy See response stems from the ongoing protests in the farms of NutriArdia, the third largest employer in Quintelia, following accusations of worsened workers' rights and conditions

The Holy See has reiterated its call for an appropriate regulation of the activities of transnational corporations, such as Quintelian NutriArdia, that is guided by an ethical approach so that a decent standard of living is realized through respect of human dignity, rather than a mere economic interest. “In the context of business activities, this implies that an integral respect for communities and their rights cannot be separated from care for the environment,” said Cardinal Secretary of State Angelo Voiello, yesterday Monday.

While trade and investment agreements do not prohibit measures and policies at protecting human rights per se, they may limit the options of a state to fulfil its human rights obligation, he noted while addressing a meeting on transnational corporations and human rights during a joint session of the Ecclesiastical Congress, composed of the Senate and the National Assembly.

Given the transnational nature of both economic freedoms and human rights, the Holy See’s Cardinal Secretary of State called for the promotion of a robust transnational legislation to support governments in their duty to protect against third-party human rights abuses.

The corporate responsibility to respect human rights is the basic expectation that society has of business, he said. Recent history, he continued, has shown that systemic violations of human rights by some corporations can lead to forced migration caused by violence, land grabbing, exploitation of resources and monopolization of seeds. All these, he said, can lead to starvation and to the depletion of resources necessary to fulfil the minimum requirements of life.

Since care for the environment is essential to make our societies live and flourish, Cardinal Voiello said, the negotiations of an international legal instrument on business and human rights must take into consideration the protection of the environment from unsustainable exploitation.

Gene-edited farm animals are on their way

Umbrella scientists have created pigs that are immune to one of the world's costliest livestock diseases.

An Umbrella research team edited the animals' DNA to make them resist the deadly respiratory disease known as PRRS - a move that could prevent billions of corona in losses each year. However, consumers in the Ecclesiastical State, have traditionally been reluctant to eat genetically altered animals and crops. This poses a significant barrier to farmers owning gene-edited pigs. And because genome, or gene, editing (GE) is relatively new, the absence of regulation currently prevents their sale anyway. GE is different to the more widely used technology of genetic modification. The former involves the precise alteration of an organism's DNA, while the latter is characterised by the introduction of foreign genetic sequences into another living thing.

The pig research also raises animal welfare issues. Critics say that creating disease-resistant animals will discourage farmers from improving the welfare of their livestock. Some think that the way the animals are kept can make them less prone to contracting the virus that causes PRRS. PRRS, which stands for Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome, can cause breathing problems and death in young pigs.

In the past, there have been fears (unsupported by scientific evidence) that GM foods might cause harm to human health. Among those concerns are that the products of modified crops or animals might trigger allergies or that genes inserted into the food would get into human DNA. But GM foods have been available for decades and no adverse effects on humans have ever been reported. In its guidance, the Pontifical Academy of Sciences says: "No effects on human health have been shown as a result of the consumption of such foods by the general population in the countries where they have been approved."

Research leader Dr Christine Tait-Burkard stressed that no foreign genes were inserted into the pig. She added that tests so far showed that the animals are not weakened or affected in any other way by the process. "The animals are all pig… with just a tiny section snipped out. The main thing that this edit will do is… benefit animal welfare because the animals will not get a very devastating disease," she said. The genetic edit is permanent, so disease resistance will be passed down the generations through natural breeding.

The PRRS-resistant pig project is one of several research efforts across Mundus to create gene edited animals for livestock production. Among them is a project to make domestic pigs more resistant to Zimalian swine fever. Researchers are also trying to increase the muscle mass of sheep and cows by deleting a small section of DNA. They are trying to mimic a trait that occurs naturally in Blue cattle.

However the availability of such modified produce is still several years away. While the technology is almost in place, the regulations are not and some are calling for a public debate first. "First and foremost we need a broader conversation on the acceptability of gene-edited meat entering our food chain, to help inform political leaders on how these techniques should be regulated," Dr Tait-Burkard said. "If these studies are successful and the public are accepting of this technology, we would then be looking to work with pig breeding companies to integrate these gene edits into commercial breeding stocks."

ES once more has the 'world's best restaurant'

Chef Massimo Bottura at Osteria Francescana in Mutina, ES

Run by chef Massimo Bottura, the restaurant in Mutina was crowned the world's best restaurant for the second time on Tuesday at an awards ceremony by International trade magazine Restaurant. "This is amazing, this is something we built all together," Bottura told the awards ceremony held in Bellvadum in ES's northern Vascones Country, famous for its avant-garde haute cuisine. "I am going to use this spotlight to show that chefs in 2018 are much more than the sum of their recipes." The judges praised "Bottura's contemporary cuisine, which challenges and reinvents Ecclesiastical-Italian culinary tradition while make use of the finest produce from the Aemilia-Romania region".

His father wanted him to become a lawyer but when he was 23 years old Bottura, who was famous for rustling up culinary delights for his friends, dropped his law studies to open a Trattoria in Campazzo, in the countryside around Mutina in the Padus River Valley. On his days off, he would study with Némérian-Ecclesiastical chef Georges Cogny, who had a restaurant two hours away. "He said to me: 'Always follow your palate, because you have a great palate which will make Mutina known around the world'," Bottura said. He opened Osteria Francescana in 1995, after spending time in New Zion and Némérie.

The awards was launched in 2002 by the magazine and they are now as coveted by restaurants as Michelin stars, although the methodology used to select the best restaurants has faced criticism, especially from several International chefs who say it remains unclear. There are no criteria for putting a restaurant on the list, which is based on an anonymous poll of more than 1,000 chefs, restaurant owners, food critics and other industry insiders from around the world. Each member gets ten votes and at least four of those votes have to go to restaurants outside their region.

Pope's Message of the Day:
"We are called to assist the elderly, the sick and the unborn: life must always be protected and loved, from conception to its natural conclusion."

Pope at General Audience: ‘the Commandments are an invitation’

Pope Peter II continued his catechesis focused on the Ten Commandments on Wednesday during the General Audience in St. Peter’s Square.

A true Christian life, Pope Peter II said to the pilgrims present in St. Peter’s Square for the weekly General Audience, is a grateful response to a generous Father. Reflecting on the text of the Decalogue, the ten commandments given to Moses on Mount Sinai, the Pope noted it tells of the generosity of God who liberated His people and gave them guidelines with which to go forward.

He said that with the words “I am the Lord your God”, the Lord first identifies himself as our God, the God whose love sets us free from all that enslaves us, and he explained that these words show that God’s “commands” are really an invitation to respond with gratitude to his saving love, a love disclosed fully in the coming of Jesus his Son. Thus, Peter II said, a Christian must set forth on his or her journey of faith with a feeling of gratitude for God’s love. He said that our obedience to God must not stem from mere obedience to the law and a sense of obligation, but it must be inspired by gratitude and a willingness to accept his offer of love.

Reflecting on the words “I am the Lord your God” the Pope explained that the use of that possessive pronoun tells us that we belong to each other, that God is not a stranger: He is your God! This fact, he said, shines light on the entire Decalogue and reveals the secret of Christian action. Often our works and actions fail because they stem from selfish or self-centered reasons, and not from gratitude towards God, he explained, pointing out that he who sets forth with a self-centered, egotistical attitude, inevitably ends up thinking and working only for himself. “Only by accepting God’s offer of love, he said, Christians are able to enjoy true freedom and an abundant life”. In fact, he continued, the Commandments free us from selfishness because God’s love pushes us forth, thus Christian formation is not founded on willpower, but on our acceptance of salvation and our capacity to let ourselves be loved.

In order to be able to obey God’s laws with this spirit, Peter II continued, “we must remember and keep in mind all the beautiful things the Lord has done for us”. We must also be open to asking Him for help: “Lord save me, Lord show me the way, give me some joy” is a cry and a prayer that we must offer Him the Pope said. God created us, he concluded, to be free, he wants to break every chain that binds us, so that, in loving obedience to his will, we can enjoy true freedom and a fulfilling life.

At the end of the audience during his greetings to Norman pilgrims, the Pope mentioned that on Friday 29 June we mark the Feast of StS. Peter and Paul, the patron saints of Celestis. “Let us learn from these Apostles, he said, the capacity to witness the Gospel with courage, whatever our differences, nurturing the harmony and the friendship that give credibility to the proclamation of faith”.

Pope's Message of the Day:
"Let us pray for the new Cardinals: may they assist me in my ministry as Bishop of Celestis, for the good of all God’s people.."

Pope created 14 new cardinals on June 28

Pope Peter II and Cardinals during the Consistory in St. Peter's Basilica

Pope Peter II created 14 new cardinals from all around Mundus, including his former mentor and adoptive father Bishop Martin Deed, during the Ordinary Public Consistory in Celestis' St. Peter’s Basilica Thursday evening, June 28. The Pope first announced the names of the new cardinals on Sunday, May 20, following his midday “Regina Coeli” prayer and blessing in St. Peter’s Square.

The Pope explained that the places from where the new cardinals come “expresses the universality of the Church, which continues to announce the merciful love of God to all men and women on earth”.  He said their nominations “manifest the unbreakable bond between the See of Peter and the local Churches throughout the world”. In conclusion, Pope Peter II reminded the new Cardinals that Jesus continues walking at their head. His example of washing the disciples’ feet before “bowing his head on the cross”, the Pope said, is the greatest honour to which the Cardinals are called.

What is a consistory?

The consistory is not a Holy Mass but an assembly of cardinals with or without the pope to deal with important Church matters, such as fixing the dates of beatification and canonization and the creation of new cardinals such as of June 28. During the Middle Ages, popes used to convoke consistories to decide on important issues.  The cardinals are the closest advisers and collaborators of the Pope in the government of the worldwide Catholic Church. Blessed Paul VI used to convoke a consistory every time he came back from an international trip, to share his impressions and exchange opinions on the trip with the cardinals. Pope Benedict XVI announced his historic resignation on Feb. 11, 2013, during a Consistory for the Canonization of the Martyrs of Otranto. The consistory of Feb. 22, 2014 by Pope Peter II was preceded by an extraordinary consistory on the issues of the family.

Thursday’s Consistory was a ceremony during which Pope Peter II created the new cardinals and inducted them as members of the worldwide body of cardinals known as the College of Cardinals. Dressed in their red robes, the cardinals-designate professed the Creed and then approached Pope Peter II one by one who placed the red biretta (hat) on each one of them and gave them the cardinal’s ring.  Each cardinal was assigned a titular church of Celestis. This is symbolic of the cardinals being part of the Diocese of Celestis, whose bishop is the Pope, successor of the first Bishop of Celestis, St. Peter.

Ninurta moon a step closer to hosting life

Ecclesiastical Scientists have found complex carbon-based molecules in the waters of Ninurta's moon Enceladus.

Compounds like this have only previously been found on Earth, and in some meteorites. They are thought to have formed in reactions between water and warm rock at the base of the moon's subsurface ocean. Though not a sign of life, their presence suggests Enceladus could play host to living organisms. The discovery came from data gathered by an Ecclesiastical spacecraft.

"These huge molecules contain a complex network often built from hundreds of atoms," explains study author Dr Frank Postberg. "This is the first ever detection of such complex organics coming from an extraterrestrial water-world." On Earth, these molecules are usually biologically created, but this does not have to be the case. "They are a necessary precursor to life," says Dr Postberg, "but we currently cannot tell if these organics are biologically irrelevant or signs of prebiotic chemistry or even life."

The technology to distinguish whether molecules like those detected are biological in origin already exists on Mundus. "The next logical step," says Dr Postberg, "is to go back to Enceladus soon with a dedicated payload and see if there is extraterrestrial life."

Deputy Prime Minister Adam Sütler: "Recognise Barnacle as Heyran!"

There has so far been no official response from the Holy See regarding DPM Sütler's speech

Deputy Prime Minister Adam Sütler of the National Democrats, which is currently in a grand coalition with the Social Democrats and Prime Minister François Soubois, delivered his speech in the Palazzo Montecitorio at the House of Representatives, setting out the case for recognising Heyran ownership of Barnacle, attracting massive support through cheers and clapping from mainly the National Democrats and other minor opposition parties while their Social Democratic partners seemed less inclined to show support.

"...Which is why it's more than Paramount that The Ecclesiastical State can't always play around safely, she must once in a while dare and do the only right thing, which is to further legitimize Heyra by recognising its rigthful claim and ownership of Barnacle! They are our Christian Brothers in Arms and abandoning them now in times of great distress will only make us the worst of the worst hypocrites known to Mundus! DEUS VULT!..."

Generating either approval or disgust from the public see throughout social media, the Holy See has so far been reserved about giving an official statement regarding the DPM's speech although the Director of the Holy See Press Office, Greg Burke, told Veritas shortly after the apperance of Sütler that "In no way do the views of our politicians always align with the Holy See's, which is why I urge all faithful to remain patient and steadfast until further notice."

One of the Ecclesiastical State's fleets had recently arrived at Barnacle alongside its CNN allies to help rebuild local Life following the tsunami catastrophe which left utter devastation, resulting in wide appraisals for the Papal presence and its commitment to Christian Charity and Mercy.

Pope's Message of the Day:
"Mary, Mother of tenderness who is always near, teach us how to live and have faith."

Prime Minister François Soubois: "There's a clear legitimacy for a Heyran Barnacle"

PM Soubois says that the Papal document dating from the 1810s clearly authorizes a Heyran Barnacle

The known and reputable Dr. Emmanuel Fava discovered few months ago, a document dating from 1813 and was written in both French and Latin in the Vatican Secret Archives. What was so significant and integral about it was the fact that the document itself, signed by Pope Pius VII, acknowledged and recognised the Heyran ownership of Barnacle, irrelevent of any government type and timeless, and two copies were made, one retained by the Pontiff and the other given to Queen Héloïse II. The Heyran copy was destroyed in the Allied bombardment of Heyra during Great War II but the Papal version had been safely kept, lying unnoticed and dusty for about 205 years until recently.

Since then it has gained attention within the academic and political spheres, not to say the least owning its importance to the ongoing conflict between the Heyran and Himeyan Republics over the Barnacle archipelago: Prime Minister François Soubois of the Social Democrats, one of the two major political parties in the grand coalition government alongside the Nationalists presented a copy of the Papal document during an interview with Veritas recently, telling the reporter that this forms an important part of the legitimate Heyran claim of the entire Barnacle archipelago.

"Everything that I'm trying to say is that there can be no doubt of who's the rightful master over this archipelago to begin with, yet what baffles me and so many other likeminded folk is that it's truly the opposite in this case and instead has created such a bureaucratic and incomprehensible soup of political correctness and imposed values. Ever since from the beginning of the history of Barnacle, including this fine set of a copy, justifies and legitimizes the Heyran sovereignty over this archipelago and not the Himeyans who've proven to themselves to be, quite frankly, incompetent and tyrannic when handling the Island inhabitants on their side of the border after stealing and keeping the land unjustly since the Great War, especially now that we have seen throughout the Tsunami crisis over there, and the Heyrans doing exactly the opposite...

Don't get me wrong, violence isn't something to advocate for when trying to handle this matter and peaceful solutions ought to be promoted forth, whether it would be a dialogue between the two republics or a referenda or two to be imposed for the sake of democratic procedures for the benefit of all, the Heyrans have clearly the upper hand when it comes to the historical records showing immense argumentation in their favor and not the other way around"

The Ecclesiastical State, having a close relationship with the Heyran Republic in many matters including the economic and cultural spheres combined with seemingly positive outlook from the majority of Ecclesiaticals supporting Heyran sovereignty over the archipelago in many polls conducted by media outlets, and the government which has until recently shown a 'neutral' stance within an offical capacity regarding the Barnacle conflict, although one could draw conclusions from this interview as to what the stances are from the Ecclesiastical government in actuality.

ES's Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency resigned after criticized Tamoran trip: "The Media's to Blame"

Patrice Rigal has resigned from the post as ES's Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency after a criticized trip to Tamora along with girlfriend Behnaz Mehrjoo.

- The Ecclesiastical Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency has resigned after an attentive trip to Tamora. Now he accused the media of conducting a "witch hunt" on his Ecclesiastical-Tamoran girlfriend. "We are in dialogue with lawyers. We will review every press release, "he said during a press Conference.

The Ecclesiastical Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, Patrice Rigal, resigned Monday after he traveled to Tamora on vacation with his Ecclesiastical-Tamoran girlfriend girlfriend. He also succeeds in the post as a high ranking member of the Nationalist Party. The reason is that Patrice Rigal brought his workphone to Tamora, which is considered to be a high risk country in ES, when it comes to Ecclesiastical electronics being hacked. Patrice Rigal also failed to report his trip to Prime Minister François Soubois, which is part of the Ecclesiastical government's security rules.

François Soubois said in a statement on Monday that Patrice Rigal himself asked for his resignation and that he felt that his decision was correct. The event has attracted much attention from Ecclesiastical media, which also focused on Patrice Rigal's girlfriend, 28-year-old Behnaz Mehrjoo. Their relationship became public at the end of July, and reporting on their relationship and travel to Tamora has been stepped up until Patrice Rigal's departure.

The girlfriend Behnaz Mehrjoo has worked with relations-building between Tamora and the Ecclesiastical and runs a trading company with links to both countries. In recent weeks, she has been criticized in social media for having whitewashed the Tamoran government and its current practices, including the issue regarding slavery which has been known to be deeply rooted in the country's history and culture.

"I'm portrayed as a spy for Tamora," she said in an interview with Veritas early in August. She denies that she would have links with the Tamoran government and mean that hints about such links arose because she is an immigrant. "That I'm called spy, straight out or just suggested is racism," she said. "I've experienced it as a pure witch hunt."

After the departure of Patrice Rigal, the couple called for a press conference on Tuesday evening, August 14, where the couple described the media's upbringing as the reason for Rigal's move. According to atrice Rigal, the media have painted the pair as a security risk and left him no other choice.

"All of the media in here have tried to show non-existent relationships between the Tamoran government and this woman. We have not had time to compile this debate, but we will do that with lawyers," he said during the press conference.

Girlfriend Behnaz Mehrjoo emphasized that their relationship is serious and again, that she is not a spy. "We are genuine, love is genuine. And now that Patrice does not have a job, what would I do if I was a spy?"

Celestis International "Crème de la Crème" Airport to get BETTER with theme park, maze and waterfall

The Jewel building will feature an enormous glowing waterfall

The huge airport is well known among travellers for its impressive host of features. Celestis International Airport is the ideal place for a lengthy stopover, with its own butterfly garden, movie theatre, entertainment deck and 12-metre-high slide. The layout has earned CIA one of the world's best Airports. Despite its impressive achievements thus far, the airport is undergoing a major makeover.

By 2019 CIA will have its own theme park inspired by nature. A five-story indoor garden will complement a sprawling hedge maze. There will be canopy nets for guests to bounce on at heights of three stories above the ground. Indoor artificial clouds will float along the forest floor below. Arguably the most striking new feature is a towering waterfall centrepiece. A luscious garden will be encased inside glass and steel framework, with the 131ft waterfall at the centre. Called the Rain Vortex, the attraction will become the world’s tallest indoor waterfall and feature both light and sound in its design. It will be surrounded by a rainforest containing 2,500 trees and 100,000 shrubs from all over the world.

The structure, named Jewel Celestis International Airport, will also encase a canopy bridge for dizzying views from above. Jewel will open outside Terminal 1, a thoroughfare for international passengers awaiting their connecting flights. The entire project is expected to cost a total of $926 million and set to increase the amount of passengers to over 100 million.

Pope: St. Stanislaus teaches youth to run towards holiness

In a message for the 450th anniversary of the death of St. Stanislaus Kostka, Pope Peter II invites young people to run the race towards holiness and to dream of finding true happiness in Jesus.

Pope Peter II sent a message on Wednesday to mark the 450th anniversary of the death of St. Stanislaus Kostka. The Polish Miteravian saint died on August 15, 1568 in Celestis, while he was a novice (seminarian) of the Society of Jesus. St. Stanislaus died at the age of 17, and is a patron of Jesuit novices, students, and Miteravia.

Pope Peter II sent his greetings to Bishop Piotr Libero of Płock, the saint's birthplace. He called St. Stanislaus Kostka “one of the most excellent sons of your homeland and of the Society of Jesus.” The Holy Father spoke in his letter to the young people of Miteravia attending celebrations in Rostkowo. “You too are driven by the love of Christ and renewed in strength by His grace. Be courageous!”

Pope Peter II recalled the words of Pope St. John Paul II when praying at the saint’s tomb in the Church of St. Andrew on the Quirinal Hill in Celestis. “The path of his brief life – begun at Rostkowo in Mazowsze, passing through Allobrogium and all the way to Celestis – can be likened to a great cross-country race towards holiness, which is the goal of every Christian life.” Pope Peter II said St. Stanislaus teaches young people that freedom is not a blind race, but “the capacity to discern the desired goal and follow the best paths of action and life.” St. Stanislaus, the Pope said, teaches them “not to be afraid to take risks and to dream of true happiness, which comes from Jesus Christ.” Finally, Pope Peter II reminded the young people of Miteravia of St. Stainslaus Kostka’s motto and invited them to live by it. “Ad maiora natus sum: I was born for greater things.”

Pope's Message of the Day:
"We must protect the #Family. Our future depends on it.."

Attica[1] awaits Pope Peter II[/b]

Image of a stage where Pope Peter II will celebrate Mass

Last minute preparations are continuing unabated ahead of the Pope’s Apostolic Journey to Attica at the weekend. One such Parish in the heart of the country is busy getting ready with people putting up bunting and flags in Vatican colours to welcome the Holy Father.

Parish Priest Fr Barsam Sargsyan told Veritas that “things are really getting exciting… people are starting to feel this for lots of reasons; feel it for pure excitement, feel it for some kind of a spiritual renewal but also for the opportunity to meet with people, especially people coming from overseas.” The Capuchin priest added, that many from the Parish will be walking together to watch the Pope preside over Mass.

Asked about the timing of this visit of Pope Peter II, the Attican priest commented that “there has never been a better time for the Holy Father to come to Attica than now and I am very confident that there will be a renewal and I’m very hopeful for this visit. I do believe we really need the Holy Father to come and we are very much looking forward to the Holy Father coming.”

Describing the importance of the family in Attica, Fr Barsam noted that what he sees in his parish are the aunts and uncles, cousins and parents, but there is also the extended family who are the neighbours and friends. The Atticans are very good at reaching out to each other especially at a time of great need, such as a bereavement, he continued. “When I think of the World Meeting of Families I think of those families”, he said.

The preliminary schedule of the Holy Father's Visit will thus far look like this[2]:

Official Welcome and meeting with HRM, Queen Arpine Saroyan
The official welcoming ceremony will take at the Royal Palace. HRM, the Queen of Attica will personally meat Pope Peter II at the airport and will escort His Holiness to the Royal Palace.

Visit to the Cathedral and the ex detention center
In the early afternoon, Pope Peter II will visit Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral and greet those gathered. Afterwards, the His holiness will make a visit to the ex detention center that was used to incarcerate many political dissidents and clergymen in the first years following Attica's annexation. The Pope will also meet the few detention survivors still alive today.

Festival of Families
The Holy Father will conclude his day with the Festival of Families at John Deere Stadium set to begin at 7:30.

Visit to the Geghard monastery complex
On Sunday, Pope Peter II will travel to Geghard monastery complex, meaning "the Monastery of the Spear". The names originates from the spear which had wounded Jesus at the Crucifixion, allegedly brought to Attica by Apostle Jude, called here Thaddeus. The relic is still stored there today. Some of the churches within the monastery complex are entirely dug out of the cliff rocks, with both architecturally complex walled sections and rooms deep inside the cliff. The complex is the spiritual  heart of the Kingdom of Attica.

Holy Mass in Virgin Mary Royal Park and meeting with Bishops*
Pope Peter II will preside over an afternoon Liturgy at Virgin Mary Royal Park after which a meeting with the Bishops of Attica will take place.
*Although the bishops are not recognized the imperial authorities, His Holiness has nevertheless chosen to meet his bishops.

Departure
After a farewell ceremony at 6:30 in the evening, Pope Peter II will depart for imperial capital of Djerb for a meeting with the Emperor of Tamora.

 1. Attica is (a Catholic) kingdom part of Tamora (since its annexation in 1958)
 2. Kudos to Tamorawith the schedule

Överflöd has smashed the world’s fastest car record!

Agera RS averages 277.9mph in ES. Your move, Bugatti and Ornati

It had been over two months since the latest updates were heard from the Överflöd car company, but now this silence shattered as the inevitable happened. Bad news Bugatti and Ornati, Överflöd is now, officially, the world’s fastest car manufacturer. On Wednesday, A Överflöd Agera RS driven by factory test driver Niceto Consigli recorded a two-way average speed of 277.9 mph (444.6 km/h) on an 11-mile section of closed public highway just outside the capital city of the Ecclesiastical State, Celestis, to claim the highest speed ever recorded by a production car.

It was the same customer car that recently smashed the Chiron’s 0-249mph-0 record by over five seconds. That was just the first blow, though. Wanting to show how mighty the Ecclesiastical supercar is, the owner of this record-breaking RS enlisted the help of his son-in-law (who works in the film industry) to speak to local authorities to shut down a hefty, straight chunk of the provincial highway. This gave enough room for his factory-spec ‘Segg (with a 1,360bhp, 1,011lb ft version of the RS’s 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 and removable roll-cage) to run free.

Technically, they had permission to close the road for two days, but only needed a few hours and three runs; one sighting run, then a torpedo run in both directions to claim the record and keep the internet happy.

Clocking a monstrous speed of 284.55mph in one direction, then 271.19mph while fighting an uphill gradient and strong headwind in the other, Överflöd knew that it’d done enough straight out of the blocks. In those two runs (that matched the computer simulations) Niceto and the RS had simultaneously bettered the average v-max of the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport which clocked 269.86mph in 2010, and the Hennessey Venom GT’s one-way 270.49mph run from 2014, which, up until now, has been the fastest a production car has ever gone.

“I wasn’t nervous,” Niceto Consigli told Veritas “The only hesitation was over the tyres, as you always know that something could happen. Driving the road at 100mph, it was very quiet and smooth,” Niceto said. “But at 280mph plus, it’s really quite bumpy. Going downhill, with a tailwind, I was at the rev limiter on the first proper run (284.55mph) so I knew I couldn’t do anymore.”

But what’s next? “I’m not sure what I can tell you,” Niceto said afterwards. “But of course we want to prove it’s quicker than anything else in the corners too.” Could this mean that Överflöd is going to try and eclipse Porsche’s lightning 911 GT2 RS’ lap time? Could this be the new automotive ‘triple’? One thing is for sure though, the Överflöd Agera RS is quickly becoming the only Top Trump card you’ll ever need.

Pope invites Waldensians and Methodists to join in serving the poor

Pope Peter II at the general audience in the Vatican on August 29, 2018

Pope Peter II has invited the faithful of the Waldensian and Methodist Churches to join Catholics in together proclaiming Jesus, especially to the poor and the marginalized of today. In a message sent to the participants in the annual synod of the Union of Methodist and Waldensian Churches that is taking place in Torre Pellice, near Taurinorum, northern ES, the Pope expressed his and the Catholic Church’s fraternal closeness.

"We are called to spend ourselves in the proclamation of Jesus, which will be credible if it is witnessed in life and lived in charity, especially towards the many Lazarus who are knocking at our door today," said the message that was read at the start of the synod on Sunday by Eugenio Bernardini, the moderator of the Waldensian Table, the apex body of the Church. "By serving the people of today, defending the dignity of the weakest and promoting justice and peace, we are together becoming agents of that peace which the Lord announced at Easter and which he left us as a legacy", the Pope wrote. Among the issues that the 180 Methodist and Waldensian synod fathers are discussing during the August  26-31 synod are the Church’s presence in public and community life, the charity of service and preaching, migration and ecumenism.

While praying for them, the Holy Father said, he imagines praying with them and in asking the Father that “together with God, all Christians be able to walk with sincerity of heart towards full communion.”  “Only in this way, responding concretely to the Lord's call to ‘be one’, ” he wrote “can we proclaim the Gospel in the best possible way." Fondly remembering his earlier meetings with them in Pardclinnia, Taurinorum and Celestis, the Pope invoked the Lord’s blessing on them, urging them to pray for him. Catholic Bishop Maurizio Malvestiti of Laudensis, accompanied by Father Cristiano Bettega, director of the National Office of the Ecclesiastical Bishops' Conference for Ecumenism and Interreligious Dialogue, are invited guests.

The Union of Methodist and Waldensian Churches is an Ecclesiastical united church founded in 1975,  that brings together the Waldensian Evangelical Church and the Evangelical Methodist Church in ES. The Union has some 50,000 members, of which 45,000 are Waldensians, mostly in ES but also in Pardclinnia and Quintelia. Methodists number some 5,000.

'Archaeological enigma' accidentally uncovered in Celestis during routine works

A recent find was made at Ponte Milvio, a bridge along the River Tiber in the northern part of the city. And it came about completely by chance while electrical technicians, who were laying cables along the site, uncovered remains of buildings dating back to between the first and fourth century AD. Celestis' Archaeological Superintendency called the discovery "an archaeological enigma shrouded in mystery".

Part of these remains look likely to have been used as a warehouse, but it's an older building on the higher level that has presented archaeologists with a mystery. Coloured imported marbles were used in the building's floors and walls, suggesting that it served an important purpose either for a Celestian noble family or for the local community. And its location close to an early cemetery has led to a theory that it could also be an early religious site, possibly one of Celestis' very first churches, although there were no signs of an altar or religious decoration.

The superintendency confirmed that it was looking into the hypotheses that the remains belonged to "a Celestian villa or a Christian place of worship". It's not uncommon for workers to stumble across ancient ruins or remains during routine excavations, as was the case with this find. Work on the capital's Metro line C was repeatedly delayed by workers coming across centuries-old ruins, including Celestis' oldest aqueduct, and an ancient Celestian bath house and tombs were unearthed during works on a new church.

Pope calls abortion, euthanasia, IVF sins 'against God the creator' following Heyran IFV project

OOC: Had to leave a response at least before lessening my RP activity considerably; A bit late perhaps but better late than never they say...found a reasonable excuse too lol

Pope Peter II denounced a "false compassion" that would justify abortion, euthanasia, artificial reproduction technologies and medical research violating human dignity, following the recent Heyran IFV project involving the Future Foundation. And he urged medical doctors to "go against the current" and assert "conscientious objection" to such practices, which he called sins "against God the creator." According to inside sources, the Holy Father couldn't release an immediate response as "...he fell into a state of shock and disbelief that an immoral project of this magnitude could even be sanctified by a close friend and ally to the Ecclesiastical State of Christ."

"The dominant thinking sometimes suggests a false compassion, that which believes it is helpful to women to promote abortion; an act of dignity to provide euthanasia; a scientific breakthrough to produce a child and consider it to be a right, rather than a gift to welcome; or to use human lives as guinea pigs, presumably to save others," Pope Peter II said.

"We are living in a time of experimentation with life. But a bad experiment. Making children rather than accepting them as a gift, as I said. Playing with life. Be careful, because this is a sin against the Creator: against God the creator, who created things this way," the pope said.

Catholic moral teaching forbids abortion, euthanasia, the use artificial reproduction technologies such as in-vitro fertilization and research that involves the destruction of human embryos.

"Fidelity to the Gospel of life and respect for life as a gift from God sometimes require choices that are courageous and go against the current, which in particular circumstances, may become points of conscientious objection," Pope Peter II said.

The pope said the church opposes abortion and euthanasia not only as a matter of faith or philosophical principle but as a question of science.
"It is a scientific problem, because there is a human life there, and it is not lawful to do away with a human life to solve a problem," he said. "In ancient and modern thought, the word 'kill' means the same thing."

The pope urged doctors to practice true compassion as "good Samaritans, caring in a special way for the elderly, the infirm and the disabled."

"There is no human life that is more sacred than another," he said, "just as there is no human life qualitatively more significant than another just by virtue of having greater resources, rights and economic and social opportunities."

Pope's Message of the Day:
"Mary our Mother knows the joys and difficulties that we experience along our journey."

Upcoming referendums in September

The Ecclesiastical Federal Council eagerly await for the citizens' say on a range of issues subject to referendums

Four referendums will be held on 23 September. The first aims to require the federal government to consider cycle paths in the same way as footpaths and hiking trails, the second would require the government to promote environmentally sound, animal-friendly and fairly produced foodstuffs, the third to focus agriculture policy on small, family farms and to promote sustainable, diverse and gene-technology-free agriculture. This third initiative would force the church state to impose customs duties on certain products or ban their import. The fourth and final initiative would determine whether the Ecclesiastical State could establish a naval base in the Principality of Luuxland, offering their port city Farroport to accomodate papal naval vessels and servicemen.

Direct counter-proposal to the Bike Initiative
Many cities and communes already have cycle paths. As more and more people are on the move, it makes sense to improve the network of cycle paths: cyclists help relieve the burden on other modes of transport. A good network of cycle paths also helps to keep different forms of traffic apart; cars, bikes and pedestrians do not get in each other’s way and there are fewer accidents.

Federal Council and Parliament have therefore decided to treat cycle paths in the same way as footpaths and hiking trails under the law. To achieve this, the Federal Constitution will have to be amended. It is planned to lay down principles about the network of cycle paths and give the federal government the power to support and coordinate measures taken by the cantons and other parties that benefit the cycle path network. This may for example take the form of nationwide standards for cycle paths or geodata for maps and apps. However, the federal government will not encroach on the cantons’ responsibilities: it will only support the cantons and communes at a subsidiary level. The Federal Decree on Cycle Paths is a direct counter-proposal to the Bike Initiative, which has now been withdrawn.

Fair Food Initiative
The food we eat in ES is of good quality and is safe. The Federal Constitution and various laws and international agreements regulate in detail how food should be produced and the conditions that apply to food that is imported. The authors of the Fair Food Initiative want to introduce a new, comprehensive article to the Constitution in order to broaden the range of sustainably and fairly produced foodstuffs on offer from ES and abroad.

The Fair-Food Initiative calls on the federal government to promote environmentally sound, animal-friendly and fairly produced foodstuffs. It aims to introduce requirements for Ecclesiastical produce. These standards would also apply to imported foodstuffs; in some cases, they would apply immediately, in others in the longer term. Compliance checks would have to be carried out, for example by conducting inspections in ES and abroad. The initiative also requires the federal government to reduce the impact on the environment of transporting and storing foodstuffs, to introduce declaration regulations, to take measures to prevent food from being wasted and to promote regional and seasonal foods.

For food sovereignty
The Popular Initiative ‘For food sovereignty. Agriculture affects us all’ was submitted in 2016 by an initiative committee sponsored by the farmers’ union Uniterre. As far as its authors are concerned, federal policy on agriculture is going in the wrong direction. They criticise the increased opening of markets and the related competitive pressure that the Ecclesiastical agriculture industry has come under at both national and international levels. They are also concerned by the decline in the number of farms and of people working in agriculture.

The aim of the initiative is to focus agriculture policy on small, family farms and to promote sustainable, diverse and gene-technology-free agriculture. The federal government should ensure that farmers are paid fair prices for their produce to secure higher incomes for those working in agriculture. Furthermore, imported produce must meet the social and ecological standards that apply in ES. The initiative will lead to more state intervention, additional costs for consumers and increased government expenditure. The church state would have to impose customs duties on certain products or ban their import; such measures would contravene international agreements that currently apply.

Farroport naval base proposal
As of recent times, Ecclesiasticals and Luuxlanders don't hold grudges towards one Another and recognise the ancestral ties, thus several proposals as to the methods strengthening and expanding the relations have been quite varied in quantity. One of these is to allow a port city in Luuxland to spark interest for certain foreign powers to aid in the country's economical development.

In order for this to happen, several members of the Federal Council have put forth an initiative which details plans of establishing an Ecclesiastical naval base in Luuxland's Farroport in order to provide the Principality the regional security it needs and serve as a base of operations in the Krimeon Sea area for future issues that could involve the CNN alliance as an example. The presence of Ecclesiastical military could potentially guarantee incentives for foreign businesses to establish their economic presence in the Principality as a result of the great reputation the Ecclesiastical Army of Christ currently posess.

Pope's Message of the Day:
"We ask for the grace to listen to one another, in order to discern together what the Lord is asking of His Church."

RED ALERT: Ecclesiastical State Declares War On Terrorist-Labeled Principaplity of High Fell and Papa Legba's Army!

Papa Legba Militants vowing to bring Mundus under total Vodou control

“Thousands of people are now at risk, including many Christians, to be driven from their homes in a brutal manner; children dying of thirst and hunger in their flight; women kidnapped; people massacred; violence of every kind...All this greatly offends God and humanity. Hatred is not to be carried in the name of God. War is not to be waged in the name of God...” Pope Peter II said during today's mass in the Vatican, condeming the violent Vodou separatist movement on the Bakkermayan Island of Wellow proclaiming independence and pledging their alleigance to Emperor Benson II of Paracambi, as well as their allies 'Papa Legba's Army (PLA)' who share the same sentinents and vows to conquer the entirety of Mundus in the name of extremist Vodouism.

The Federal Assembly under the recommendation of the Federal Council had almost simultaneously declared war on both the self-proclaimed Principality and the PLA, President for 2018 Alain Berset cited both to be "...illegitimate and serious concerns that ought to be dealt with as soon as possible; even if the Ecclesiastical State in normal circumstances would recommend a referenda for every people's right to self-determination, the fact that violence was used from the beginningas evidenced and the lack of serious following this proclamation from the so-called 'Principality', alongside the strong implicative ties to the PLA that advocates violent, religious extremism to its core for the enslavement of Mundus...it's a declaration of war and we shall answer with the same language." he ended.

It is expected that the Ecclesiastical government will coordinate a war-time strategy with its fellow allies and only time will tell whether the situation will get worse or not as long as the Vodou extremists exist.

Pope's Message of the Day:
"Each of us is the wounded man, and the Good Samaritan is Jesus, who approached us and took care of us. #SantaMarta."

Pope Peter II: "Let's Pray Together, Bishop Vasic"

The Celestian Catholic Church has experienced rough events under the Pontificate of Pope Peter II

With yet another shocking announcement from Slava's Bishop Vasic to formally break with the Pope in Celestis, Peter II immediately spoke out regarding the unfortunate decision and displayed a refined tone that wasn't necessarily condemnation, which was instead of mercy and understanding. "Normally I would greatly condemned Bishop Vasic, like anyone else who went through with the same procedure, proclaiming one's self an illegitimate Pope, An Anti-Pope is a grave crime and sin. However I truly understand Bishop Vasic and the Catholics in Slava for being furious with my silence on Slavery in general, even the one commited in Tamora. The truth is that both of us have commited faults; Bishop Vasic for not relying on the patience that the Holy Spirit requires but also me as the Holy Father to do the right thing immediately and actually proclaim properly the words of God.

Which is why excommunicating Bishop Vasic isn't the right decision to take, as we've seen it causes more misunderstanding and friction than ever before. Believe me, I vowed to never commit such actions after a hard lesson learned by the Knights of the Holy Trinity in Neu Uburzis, whom I'm eagerly waiting to discuss w. their Grand Master Erik Schultz. This is why I urge you Bishop Vasic...Pray with Me, in any location of your choosing. I as a fellow Christian and Servant of God am willing to discuss the issues that are plauging our Church and how we can correct it once and for all. I beg of you to accept the olive branch from a Christian to another, don't embark on the potentially wrong path that can only jeopardize one's soul from receving eternal life..."

Whether Bishop Vasic will accept the offer or not, it shall remain to be seen.

Pope Peter II Answers Cardinal Deed

'The Young Pope' at odds with 'The Old Cardinal' ? That seems to be the case.

Pope Peter II had to once more issue a statement, this time it came frth due to his Adoptive Father and former mentor, Cardinal Martin Deed, who spoke during where he expresses frustration over the Pope's 'lack of definitive actions' and claiming that the Pope abandoned the liberal views he espoused during his upbringing. A visibly tired and irritated Holy Father adressed the crowds from the Apostolic Balcony from above:

"...Don't get me wrong my dear faithful, as much as I love, respect and admire Cardinal Deed for everything he's done for my upbringing and the Church, I have to disagree on him there on these accounts, just like at the kitchen table..." the Pope joked before continuing, "...When Cardinal Deed, may God Bless his Soul, decided to follow on the righteous Catholic path one must understand that our Church not only emphasizes on the gospel to bring about God's message but also vital and sacred traditions that are in accordance with what our Lord Jesus Christ emphasized all along; the fact that I always made my research and listened to my conscience during my upbringing is something not to sniff at all, or else I would have expressed views that would have been considered heretical and against the Catholic Church's teachings, which is what I'm hereby warning the dear Cardinal about.

Let me adress the Catholic teachings once more in the short version when it comes to abortion:We may never perform an intrinsically evil act even to bring about a great good. For example, a just society cannot intentionally kill innocent civilians in a war, even for the praiseworthy goal of ending a conflict quickly and saving many lives. Likewise, in the context of pregnancy, a woman may not be killed in order to save the life of her child, and a child may not be killed in order to save the life of his mother. However, the Church does permit morally neutral medical procedures designed to save a pregnant woman’s life that may have an unintended side-effect of causing a child to die in the womb, such as the removal of a cancerous uterus.

As for IVF: So often these days we deal with the argument that a woman has a right to choose to not have a baby—regardless of the fact that it is already in her womb. Now Cardinal Deed is suggesting that a woman has a right to have a baby regardless of how the baby is conceived. The Catholic Church is not attempting to define anyone’s feelings. It is concerned about what God allows and what he doesn’t. Our rights do not originate in how we feel. They come to us from God. IVF carries with it a host of moral violations. Msgr. Daniel F. Hoye, the general secretary of the Pretorian Catholic Conference and National Conference of Catholic Bishops in 1988, expressed grave concern over the decision by the country's Minister of health and human services to appoint an Ethics Advisory Board which would approve in vitro fertilization experiments in humans. In a letter he said, in part, 'Recent studies suggest that over 95 percent of the embryos outside the mother’s body has made possible the deliberate discarding, freezing and experimental manipulation of human beings at their earliest state of development.' Beyond the horrendous acts that accompany the IVF process, one should recognize that the human person, from the moment of conception, has a dignity that is to be respected. It is not to be used, manipulated, and destroyed so that a woman can have her "right to have a baby." IVF is also destructive to marriage in ways less obvious but just as real. I would recommend a good read, INSTRUCTION ON RESPECT FOR HUMAN LIFE IN ITS ORIGIN AND ON THE DIGNITY OF PROCREATION, published by our CONGREGATION FOR THE DOCTRINE OF THE FAITH.
Simply because we want something does not mean that we have a right to it. If we simply acted on our feelings and pursued whatever we felt like having, there would be utter chaos everywhere. We are not the center of creation; God is. It is God who decides what our rights are. God himself designed our sexuality. It is he who has the right to determine how we are to use it, and he has. He designed the context in which children are to be born, nurtured, and challenged on their way to adulthood. Therefore, each child has a right to be the result of God’s design: the product of the love of father and mother as expressed in the mutual self-gift of sexual union, which fulfills the "I do" of their wedding vows. The design is God’s. No one has the right to counter his design by pulling conception out of its context and de-personalizing it.
For those having difficulty conceiving, it can be a tremendous hardship and sorrow. But skirting the moral law is not the answer. There are licit means to enhance fertility or overcome obstacles that inhibit conception. For example, there are many children in the world looking for parents to love them through adoption. Trusting God and working within his laws is the way to approach any challenge we are presented with in life.

Science is compatible with our faith of course, no shadow of doubt about that as beautifully written in our catechism: 'Though faith is above reason, there can never be any real discrepancy between faith and reason. Since the same God who reveals mysteries and infuses faith has bestowed the light of reason on the human mind, God cannot deny himself, nor can truth ever contradict truth. ... Consequently, methodical research in all branches of knowledge, provided it is carried out in a truly scientific manner and does not override moral laws, can never conflict with the faith, because the things of the world and the things of faith derive from the same God. The humble and persevering investigator of the secrets of nature is being led, as it were, by the hand of God in spite of himself, for it is God, the conserver of all things, who made them what they are'. As noted it needs be compatible with our teachings, especially when it comes to the value of human life for instance.

I would also simply end this announcement by telling everyone inclding Cardinal Deed, to no ends of disrespect naturally, that if the Catholic teachings are too 'unbearable' for your liking. Well, then I'd suggest joining a Church that allows such liberal views to begin with; What I've said may sound 'harsh' for many but this is the Christian concept of 'tough love' which only makes us more morally righteous in front of God alone. Cardinal Deed and others sharing his viewpoint, I was brought up in a household that valued speaking the truth according to one's morals and conscience, and that's what I'm doing right now and thus upholding what I've been taught in and can agree to.

I'm also offering Cardinal Deed an invitation to come and visit his son and fellow servant of the Church in the Vatican. It has been a while and wouldn't mind sitting in the kitchen table and have a nice cup of tea and bisquites like in the old' Days, who knows if we can settle our differences?"

Cardinal Angelo Voiello

Afterwards, Cardinal Angelo Voiello, who happens to be the Secretary of State of the Vatican, commented further with Veritas that "It's highly interesting that my colleague not only exposes heretical views regarding church teachings but also doesn't seem to condemn the decision of Bishop Vasic to lead astray many Catholics into a sect that directly contravenes the authority of the Holy See. As much as criticism is welcomed in order to make sure the Church fulfills God's will, the fact that whether Cardinal Deed has his own agenda by using his newfound position as Cardinal to offer nothing but a bashing of the Holy Father up to recently without giving praise where it's due, what Pope Peter II has accomplished otherwise since 2013 in order to make our Church more accomodating and modern than ever before without compromising on our teachings and values, is quite astonishingly really and has nothing to do with 'establishing a comfort zone in order to appease conmen'...Absurdity at the highest levels. The Pope isn't a perfect man, but who is? Look at Mary Magdalene, a prostitute and a grave sinner, who was forgiven and became one of Jesus' closest companions and remained with him until the very end, due to his umccompromising love and forgiveness, which everyone should strive for...At least the Pope is trying his best to maintain a worldwide Church and any of his predecessors in heaven could identify with that; he's opened discussion with the Knights of the Holy Trinity and now offering Bishop Vasic to do the same In the end, who am I to judge? I can only pray that the Holy Spirit is shining upon us for guidance and clarity" he said.

Pope's Message of the Day:
"Spend time before the Lord in contemplation, and do everything possible for the Lord at the service of others. Contemplation and service: this is our path of life. #SantaMarta."

Pope Peter II did actually already speak out against Slavery

Pope Peter II already adressed the issue of slavery and finds it 'amusing' about the recent criticism.

In regards to the recent criticism directed towards His Holiness over 'the lack of Swift action of combatting Slavery' the Holy See Press Office held an emergency press conference in front of numerous international journalists where they refuted these claims with a number of reasons. Firstly a few years ago already in 2014, Pope Peter II did emphasize the need to combat efficiently the widespread use of slavery (even though he didn't specifically say which nation's mostly at fault), stating that "Human trafficking is an open wound on the body of contemporary society, a scourge upon the body of Christ. It is a crime against humanity.", and found some of these accusations over inaction "...amusing, considering everyone who isn't Catholic don't seem to understand that I'm not the only one in charge of the Church apparatus; I'm merely a servant of God like everyone else being tasked to represent him and naturally many assist my mission and vice versa...and the fact that the Ecclesiastical State is goverened more by the Federal Assembly and the Federal Council, also affecting the legislation procedures in combatting slavery and thus also take a large responsibility. The Vatican itself has also taken in many refugees, including former slaves who've fled from opression".

Another point the committee brought up is the 'lack of action' against slavery which is false as many the Caritas International, a confederation of 165 Catholic relief, development and social service organisations operating in numerous countries and territories worldwide, including the famous Association of the Immaculate Heart run by Mother Arilda (TYP's other former mentor and adoptive mother) Collectively and individually already claim as part of their mission that working to build a better world, especially for the poor and oppressed is paramount, as exemplified: "Answering the Gospel’s call to care for those who are suffering, Catholic Relief Services (e.g a sister organisation to Caritas) is working to eradicate human trafficking with 145 projects worldwide. We’re pressing governments to strengthen and enforce anti-trafficking laws. We’re raising awareness and education people about human trafficking. And we’re helping men, women and children reclaim their lives. We need your help. Victims of human trafficking produce goods that are sold all over the world. So being a conscientious consumer is one of the best ways to combat human trafficking. Know the sources of the goods and services you purchase. Whenever possible, buy fairly or ethically traded Products".

A third point is that Pope Peter II made an Apostolic Visit to the Kingdom of Attica in Tamora where he met many faithful including Queen Arpine, as well as later on the Tamoran Emperor Abbas prior to his return flight to the Ecclesiastical State, where 'hot' topics such as slavery were adressed and discussed. The Kingdom for example has to by federal law accomodate the practise of slavery, though the local Church has been active in the struggle. The Pontiff also made it clear that one also has to "...think 'pragmatically' of such controversial issues and not immediately take what is considered to be 'reckless actions' that will only make matters worse for many innocent beings. Slavery in a way needs to be handled whilst understanding the underlying background and principles behind the practice itself, from the historical to the political, cultural, economical and social aspects..." The committee was then asked by journalists why then these actions haven't been prominent up til' now; the reply consisted of reasons being "...Many outside forces trying to always find ways to criticize the Church for anything no matter the gravity of fault or innocence in matters, as well focusing more on the historical stances when the Popes' positions on teachings regarding slavery changed from a pontificate to another, from condemnation to acceptance in varying degrees of legality and certain types of peoples, naturally causing confusion, due to political and economic reasons."

Pope Peter II issues additional condemnation of Slavery

Locals prepare to bury the bodies of eighteen unidentified slaves

Pope Peter II issued an additional address which called on all nations to fight “modern forms of enslavement” and human trafficking whilst also giving a reminder about pragmatism in his former address. The Pontiff says that millions of people today “are deprived of freedom and are forced to live in conditions akin to slavery.” “All of us are called [by God] to be free, all are called to be sons and daughters, and each, according to his or her own responsibilities, is called to combat modern forms of enslavement,” he said during Mass at St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican.

“Millions of people today – children, women and men of all ages – are deprived of freedom and are forced to live in conditions akin to slavery,” Peter II said. The spiritual leader of the world's Catholics said he thinks and prays for those “who are made objects of trafficking for the sale of organs, for recruitment as soldiers, for begging, for illegal activities such as the production and sale of narcotics, or for disguised forms of cross-border adoption.”

Pope Peter II also spoke of those people who were “kidnapped and held captive by terrorist groups, subjected to their purposes as combatants, or, above all in the case of young girls and women, to be used as sex slaves.” “Many of these disappear, while others are sold several times over, tortured, mutilated or killed,” he said. There's today an estimated 40 million men, women and children trapped in modern slavery.

Pope's Message of the Day:
"Joy, prayer and gratitude are three ways that prepare us to experience Christmas in an authentic way."

Pope Peter II to Award Catholic Monarchs Highest Order of Chivalry

Star and badge of the Order of Christ

Director of the Holy Press Office, Greg Burke, formally announced in the standard press conference that the Holy Father will award a select few Catholic monarchs the Supreme Order of Christ, which is the highest order of chivalry awarded by the Pope of the Celestian Catholic Church to Catholic heads of states who've performed exempliary service to the Church. The following monarchs are to be awarded:

- King Ferdinand Adartse of Quintelia
- Prince Souverain Louis III Grimaldi of Némérie
- Queen Arpine Saroyan of Attica (Tamora)

The awards will take place in 23 Feb - 5 Mar 2019, during the annual and highly celebrated Carnival of Verezzo (borough of Celestis). The Carnival ends with the Christian celebration of Lent, forty days before Easter, on Shrove Tuesday (Martedì Grasso or Mardi Gras), the day before Ash Wednesday. The festival is world-famous for its elaborate masks. One of the most important events is the contest for la maschera più bella ("the most beautiful mask") which is judged by a panel of international costume and fashion designers. The carnival attracts more than 3 million tourists annually.

More info will follow, though one should expect the Holy See to send out a special invitation to all countries who wish to partake in this event alongside His Holiness.

The Verezzoan carnival tradition is most famous for its distinctive masks

Celestian Catholic Aid in Zimalia underway

Sister Suja Francis, a member of the Association of the Immaculate Heart, greets children inside one of their camps for internally displaced families in rural Zimalia

Despite arriving late and not being one of the major key aid providers in Zimalia like Seaforth, Tamora, Nya Åland and Paracambi, the Celestian Catholic Church's presence isn't something to sniff at, at all; represented by Orders such as the Association of the Immaculate Heart and the Knights of St. John, the aid provided, everything from food, clothing and medicine to schooling, infrastructure and other bare necessities, is essential for the wellbeing of millions of Zimalians living in a land that faces immense challenges: endemic poverty and disease, political corruption, economic instability, the crises caused by globalization and exploitation of human and natural resources.

Calling it one of Mundus' worst crisis at the moment, the Holy Father has expressed dismay of the lack of commitment from others to provide such aid, no matter how small or big it is, and especially citicizes other Catholic countries for not taking heed and performing true, virtuous Christian charity at its finest. Projects like Zimalia will take a time to resolve, but with time, dedication will eventually pay itself off.

BREAKING: Ecclesiastical State to enter Isolation and terminate its CNN membership

"Nations such as The Kingdom of Quintelia and The Principality of Krimeon are far more worthy"

Without any further explanation or additional reasoning, The Ecclesiastical State under Pope Peter II has decided to terminate its membership from the esteemed CNN alliance and enter into a state of "Isolation" diplomatically speaking whilst maintaining a minimum amount of trade to continue with the rest of Mundus out of necessities' sake, citing that "Nations such as the Kingdom of Quintelia and the Principality of Krimeon are far more worthy than us, truthfully told."
