President Kwon Sang-jun dies in accident

(https://i.postimg.cc/jSJxXZJZ/news001.jpg)President Kwon Sang-jun has been announced dead, following a helicopter crash this morning nearby Enmedyè.

Emergency services and firefighters units came as soon as possible, but they could not do anything to save the lives of the President and the other passengers.

It was been reported that, along President Kwon, other five people lost their lives in the accident, with no survivors. President's death has shaken and shocked all citizens in Djabidjan.

President Kwon Sang-jun, 46, had been President of the Republic of Djabidjan since 2011, when he was elected President following the death of his father, Kwon Jin-gyu. It is expected that Premier Im Jae-woong will perform the presidential functions temporarily, until a new head of state is elected by Djabidjan's parliament.

President Kwon Sang-jun, along the other passengers, were headed to visit to a nearby mining company, as part of a promotion of a government campaign on industrial policy. Not long after the takeoff, the helicopter presumably crashed as consequence of foggy conditions.

Many citizens expressed in social media their condolences and their worries about the future of the nation, following the death of the Djabidjanian president.

Premier Im Jae-woong declared "no words to express my own emotions on these shocking news", describing late President Kwon's death as "a national tragedy". He also announced a 19-day mourning, only one day less than when his father Kwon Jing-gyu died in 2011.

It is expected that a state funeral will be held in honour of the deceased president. Although the helicopter crash is believed to be an accident, the government has announced that a special investigation has been started.

Theatre explosion surprises Djabidjan City

BREAKING NEWS |  An unprecedented fire broke up in Namgung National Theatre, in Djabidjan City, during a musical and drama show which conmemorated the "Semèn Solidarite Sosyal" which had started yesterday. Although emergency units and firefighters promptly came to the site, they could not do much to completely stop the expansion of the fire.

The event had been attended by important authorities, including Premier Han Oh-Seong, as well as other well-known government officials and social celebrities. According to witnesses, the fire may be started by one or several sudden explosions during the first break early in the evening.

Although authorities were early considered a gas leak as possible caused of the fire, it is being currently investigated as a possible terrorist attack. However, a spokesperson of the police has declared that no official cause has been established yet, and it may take some time to determine so. "So far", he declared, "the priority is to stop the fire and save lives, of course".

The number of casualties is still unknown, although emergence services has already confirmed at least a dozen of deceased citizens, as well as two firefighters.

The identity of the victims and wounded is still unknown, although the office of the Ministry of State Security confirmed that Premier Han was severely wounded and was transfered to a nearby military hospital.

Terror attack leaves at least 176 casualties

Djabidjan's authorities confirmed that the fire caused in Namgung National Threatre, Djabidjan City, was caused by explosive devices in an unprecedented terrorist attack.

The official number of casualties is currently 176, although there were another hundred of wounded people, many of them hospitalized in severe condition, so that number could increase in the coming hours and days.

It was confirmed that Premier Han Oh-seong, the highest ranking official in the country, following the death of late President Kwon Sang-jun a month ago in an accident nearby Enmedyè, died in the theatre attack. Another five government officials were killed, as well as at least other eight government officials and high-ranking military officers had to be hospitalized.

The attack is the most deadly terrorist attack in the Ardian nation since independence.

So far, the action has not be claimed by any known terrorist or armed group. Djabidjan's authorities have announced that an investigation has been advanced to find the perpetrators of this deadly attack "wherever they may be and make them pay for such atrocious crime", the police spokesperson declared in a official communication.

The identity of many of the victims is still unknown, as the identification of some of the deceased people may take some time. However, the Ministry of Home Affairs already offered a list of victims, which includes 117 Djabidijani nationals, four Juglander citizens, and another victim from Fleur.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Lee Jung-nam promised a diligent work for the identification and extradition of any foreign victim, if that were the wish of their families, "as soon as possible in the current circumstances". Minister Lee also denounced the attack as "a miserable and coward attack against Djabidjan's democracy".

Martial law passed by national parliament
New Speaker is elected
Christian group rejects being behind theatre attack

Djabidjan’s national parliament approved a state directive establishing martial law in all the country’s territory for at least two months.

The state directive will allow law enforcement and armed forces to arrest suspects without a judicial authorization and suspend basic rights.

The government justified the decision by the need to avoid more terror attack as the Namgung National Theatre in Djabidjan City, which killed more than one hundred people, including seven members of the government. The declaration of martial law was passed almost unanimously in the national parliament, with 148 for and only 4 votes against.

The State Department of Military Information, through a spokesperson, also announced that they have “clear evidence” that the Christian Action Front, renamed in 2015 as Independent Faithful Movement, was behind the attack. He declared that it “will not be mercy for those behind the attack” and that they will not have way out.
Nang Khin Maw was elected Speaker of the national parliament, replacing Speaker Chau Hung Tran who died in the recent terrorist attack in a theatre in Djabidjan City, which claimed the lives of 214 people, including several government officials and four diplomats.

With the death of late President Kwo in a helicopter accident last month and Premier Han, who also died in the terrorist attack in Djabidjan City, Nang Khin Maw, 70, becomes the highest-ranking official in the currently, at least until a new President and Premier are elected by the parliament.

Until then, following the Djabidjanian constitution, Nang Khin Maw will be both the acting head of state and head of government, as a consequence heading the State Council of Ministers.

A member of the national parliament since 2004 as a candidate of the Djabidjani People’s Coalition, she is not a member of the People’s Democratic Party, the largest political party in the national parliament and the political party which the previous three Presidents of the Republic belonged. Instead, she is a member of the Nayhtumyarr National Party which has only three seats in the national parliament – including herself.

It is expected that Nang Khin Maw would only head the government temporarily until the People’s Democratic Party elects a new leader or at least nominate possible candidates to both the presidency or the premiership.
Independent Faithful Movement, or Dhaah Party, has rejected any involvement in the Djabidjan City's Namgung National Theatre terror attack.

The Independent Faithful Movement, which was established as a successor of DXAHK, an armed group that existed from 1969 to 2015, through an official statement published on several websites, declared that they did not have any involvement and they openly reject violence against political and civilian objectives. Instead, they argue, they are still focused in their strategy adopted in the so-called "2016 Christian Gathering", in which they announced a political strategy which described "popular mobilization and mass resistance", along electoral participation, as means to achieve their political goals.

The leadership of the Independent Faithful Movement is based in an undisclosed foreign country, and it is currently a banned organization in Djabidjan, where it is listed as a terrorist organization.

At least 248 people have been arrested in Djabidjan City, Jangju, and other cities, in several raids against sympathizers and supporters of the Independent Faithful Movement, a Catholic organization blamed for the Namgung National Theatre terrorist attack on last month, which claimed the lives of 214 people, including Premier Han.

Although it is not clear if all suspects are accused to have direct ties with the terrorist attacks, many of the suspects are facing serious charges, such as membership in a criminal organization, conspiration against state institutions, and conspiracy for murder.

DEK Corporation announced that Maeda Noriko will head the business group, after its Boards of Director elected her to become the new chairman of the company.

DEK Corporation is one of the largest entertainment and media companies in Djabidjan. The corporation owns several music, television, and film production companies, as well as a television channel, Fusyon TV, and the Djabidjanian Times, the largest newspaper in the city of Jangju.

Maeda Noriko, 34, is late Hoo Dae-seong's widow. Hoo Dae-seong was the founder and chairman of DEK Corporation, but he was killed in the recent terrorist attack in Djabidjan City.

Mrs. Maeda was previously CEO of DEK Studio, from 2016 to 2020. She was also Chairman of Fusyon TV since 2019.

Suny founder and Djabidjani journalist and scholar Arman Aqimugalay was found dead in St. Elmo's City, Tytor (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2339.msg21349#msg21349).

Arman Aqimugalay, or Dr. Aqimugalay as he was known in the Djabidjanian diaspora, particularly in the Kychma community, was found dead in downtown St. Elmo's City, where he had visited to participate in a conference organized by the Kychma community in the city. He had been stabbed several times when he was found shortly before midnight. When emergency services came, it was already too late, as he was declared dead. Tytor authorities are investigating the dead as a murder and robbery case, although other hypothesis are being considered.

His father had served in President Hahn Geun's administration. Arman Aqimugalay founded his own political movement in the 1990s, known as the National Democratic Assembly, running for office several times. However, after being prosecuted by Djabidjanian authorities, in court cases that his supporters and human rights associations denounced as political persecution, he left the country in 1998.

He had been living in Tytor since 2004, where he relaunched our newspaper, which he had helped to establish in Djabidjan City in 1991. Under his leadership, in which served the roles of editor-in-chief until 2014, and chairman since then, Suny become one of the leading newspaper in Djabidjani diaspora, particularly between the Kychma community, not just in Tytor but in at least fourteen countries.

As ourselves, the Djabidjanian community, as well as Aqimugalay's family, have declared to be devastated for this meaningless and atrocious murder. We hope that authorities will be able to find the perpetrators and they will face justice. Meanwhile, we are prepared to continue Aqimugalay's legacy, fighting for truth and justice in our motherland and our communities abroad.

In other news, it was also reported that a Djabidjani national, an employee from the Djabidjanian embassy, was killed in an explosion in an appartment in St. Elmo's City the same night. However, there is no information so far that both cases could be related.

Four members of the Djabidjanian Armed Forces were killed in an explosion nearby Hyeoul.

Although the police had not initially dismissed an accident as possible cause of death, a police spokesperson has declared that they were killed in duty as consequence of an explosion device in their car.

It is unclear if the attack was related to recent terrorist attack in Namgung National Theatre, Djabidjan City. So far, nobody has claimed this last deadly criminal attack.

The People's Democratic Party will hold a party congress in October, First Secretary Tieu Quanh Vinh announced, following a special meeting of the National Executive Committee of the People's Democratic Party.

The People's Democratic Party is the largest political party in the national parliament, and the leading member of the ruling Djabidjani People's Coalition. It is expected that the People's Democratic Party will elect a new General Secretary in the coming congress, following the tragic death of late President Kwon Sang-jun, as well as a new electoral platform and confirm candidates to the next parliamentary election, which is scheduled to be held on November.

A new General Secretariat was appointed by the National Executive Committee, it was announced, which should be confirmed by the Executive Council of the party, which is expected to meet on next Friday.

The National Executive Committee also appointed Hong Tae-woo as PDP's Secretary of Organization, who will be mainly in charge of coordinating the organizational committee in charge to prepare the coming congress. Mr. Hong will also join the General Secretariat in the role of assistant secretary.

Several human rights associations have demanded Djabidjanian authorities a "serious and independent investigation", following the death of two suspects who were in custody of law enforcement authorities, after being arrested in suspiction of terror charges and membership of criminal organization.

However, the Ministry of Home Affairs declared that both suspects died as consequence of natural cases, a heart attack in one case and organ failure following a nervous breakdown in the second case. The second suspect, according to a spokesperson of the forensic team, had a "historial of drug abuse, which may contribute to the seriousness of his health situation".

Both suspects had been recently transferred to a prison facility under the authority of the State Department of Military Information, the main military intelligence and counter-terrorism agency. They were being investigated for their association to some of the key suspects in the Namgung terrorist attack, a Ministry of Home Affairs spokesperson declared.

Djabidjan's Justice Foundation, a NGO organization focused on improvement of the judiciary system has complained, while expressing confidence that the state authorities will be able to find the perpetrator of the recent terrorist attack, that the rights of some of the arrested suspects and the work of their legal teams are under increasing pressure, following their incommunication as consequence of the recent declaration of martial law, which has caused that many of the suspects could not be visited by a lawyer. "Although we understand the seriousness of the situation and the need to protect the people and the state institutions following such unprecedented and dreadful attack", a spokesperson of the organization declared, "it should not be incompatible with the required protection of a due process and transparency".

Tieu Quang Vinh, Acting General Secretary of the People's Democratic Party, has announced, following a meeting of the PDP Executive Council, that the coming extraordinary congress of the People's Democratic Party will be held in the city of Hyeoul, the sixth largest city in the country.

It will be the second time that the People's Democratic Party will not hold a party congress in either Jangju or Djabidjan City, the two largest cities of the nation.

The party congress, which is expected to elect a new party leader before the November election, which be held from October 15th to October 17th.

Lanh Long Tran, Secretary of the Djabidjanian League for Progress, a NGO organization focused on justice reform, has been arrested by Djabidjan's police this morning, local sources have reported.

Lanh Long Tran, a former lawyer, has been active for more than two decades as a human rights activist, particularly focused in the issue of justice reform and fight against corruption. More recently, he was actively involved in a campaign calling for an immediate reform of the electoral law, in order to assure true fair and fair elections in November. Lanh Long Tran have also denounced an increase in reports on police abuses in custody and violation of constitutional rights since the martial law was declared.

Authorities have claimed that he was arrested for tax evasion and financial fraud and therefore there was no relation between his charges and his political activism and defense of human rights. However, his lawyers seem to be unconvinced, as immediate arrest for that kind of charges are relatively rare. If he is declared guilty, Lanh could face a sentence from 5 to 15 years in jail.

A first hearing of his case is expected to be held on late October, one of his lawyers confirmed to our newspaper.

Shin Yong-Nam, from the People's Democratic Party, was elected as new Speaker of the national parliament.  He received a clear majority, 144 of 155 votes, therefore being elected at the first round.

Shin Yong-Nam has been a member of the national parliament since 1996, when he was elected for Jangju's sixth district, as candidate of the Djabidjani People's Coalition, being reelected in the following five elections.

Shin also served as Deputy Prime Minister, from 2002 to 2008, and Minister of Justice from 2010 to 2014. Considered a leading member of the People's Democratic Party, his influence however decreased after the 2015 People's Democratic Party congress, in which he was not reelected to the National Executive Committee, in which he had been a member since 2006. Since then, he played a rather discreet role in parliamentary activities, despite being one of the most senior members of the parliament.

Shin Yong-Nam becomes the first Speaker from the People's Democratic Party since 1992, as the position had been held since then by members from other political parties of the ruling Djabidjani People's Coalition.

Speaker Shin declared that it will be a "huge honour to serve as head of the people's representatives" until the end of the term, which is expected to end in mid-November.

Protesters in Djabidjan City, two months after the terror attack in Namgung, have demanded reparation for the victims of the attack, and death penalty against the perpetrators and organizers of the attack, including Burhaan Temitope (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2315.msg21140#msg21140), former leader of the Christian Action Group, as Burhaan's Independent Faithful Movement, a successor organization of the former, has been blamed for the attack.

A spokesperson of the prosecutor office confirmed that they are investigating any involvement that Temitope may have had with the attack and charges could be brought against him if that was confirmed. However, he declared that the investigation may require some time and effort, but he tried to assure that the perpetrators will face justice and punished with all the instruments of the law without mercy.

Koryonggang cycling team, Djabidjan's main important cycling team, surprised with a strong showing in the Tour of Jugland, winning two stages as well as the team classification.

The team, established in 2017, had already a considerable experience in the Ardian cycling circuit. However, their participation in the seven-day race in Coft Aranye was the first showing in an international cycling event. Fidèl Vitès was the best Koryonggang's rider in the general classification, finishing eight after the final stage.

Vivnan Wourou, director of the team, declared to be satisfied for the result, which would help to consolidate the growth of the team. "We have showed that we can, not only compete against the best riders of the world, but beat them...We are proud about these results but our ambition can only increase with this gained experience", he declared.

Vrem Gèdavyon, Acting Minister of Home Affairs, justified the wave of arrests by law enforcement following the Namgung Theatre terrorist attack, to assure the safety of the population and dismantle any existing network of terrorist militants and sympathizers.

Although he clarified not all the arrest people are necessarily directly linked with the theatre attack, he declared that the authorities have been working hard to find anyone who abide or gave material support to the perpetrators of the attack.

He also hinted, although he did not confirm it, that the martial law may be suspended following the coming election, although that decision would depend on the "State Council...with the approval of the President of the Republic", who is expected to be elected not later than November.

    (Djabidjan News Agency)

A few thousands of delegates, along hundred of government and local officials gathered in Hyeoul convention centre, where the People's Democratic Party held an extraordinary congress. While the circumstances of the congress were rather ominuous, following the death of late President Kwon Sang-jun in an accident on July and the Namgung terror attack which killed several leading People's Democratic Party high officials, the congress was expected to choose a new leadership.

The congress started with a solemn and serious tone, with several hommages and interventions aimed to pay respect to the victims, as well to celebrate the memory of both late President Kwon Sang-jun and his father Kwon Jin-gyu, who died in 2011. The hommage tone certainly continued, but this time to celebrate the achievements of the People's Democratic Party, which has been in the government since 1983.

Those which expected policy debates, or at least a hint where the next administration may move towards, may have ended disappointed. While delegates voted in more than sixty resolutions and amends, they do not offer a radical shift of the government policy. In any case, it would not have been definitive, of course, as the final electoral manifesto and government program would be decided in the next meeting of the Djabidjani People's Coalition in which representatives of the People's Democratic Party and the other members of the coalition will probably announce their candidate to the presidency in the next legislative election, as well as a final announcement of the candidates.

Tieu Quang Vinh (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2315.msg21105#msg21105) was elected as General Secretary of the People's Democratic Party, getting 56% of the votes against his rival mayor Hwang Yong-joon (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2315.msg21129#msg21129), who obtained 44%. Tieu becomes the first ethnic Kiêt to be elected PDP General Secretary, although it is not exactly a surprise, as Tieu had being acting General Secretary since late August. A former Minister of State Administration, Tieu Quang Vinh joined the PDP Secretariat in 2018. The election, which took place in the morning of the final day of the congress, did not feel as an exciting election, however, although certainly much more than in previous congress, in which the election of the General Secretary of the party was felt mostly as a (already announced) coronation.

Certainly, the General Secretary has always being of the official leader of the party, with the General Secretary also holding the office of the presidency of the republic (or doing so eventually, as it was the case of Kwon Sang-jun, who become General Secretary in 2009, two years before the death of his father).

It is not clear if this will be the case, however, and Tieu Quang Vinh's first speech as General Secretary did not feel as the speech of a recently elected leader, more like someone aimed to build bridges between rivals and colleagues. Certainly, there is nothing written in the party charter and rules than the General Secretary shall be the leader of the government. However, it is not that we should wait much time to see the final answer, as there is only one months before the next legislative election, and it is possible that a new president may be sworn before that date. In the meantime, we can only wait.

More importantly, however, the PDP congress also elected the new members of the 15-member National Executive Committee, the highest executive body of the People's Democratic Party. While more than half of the incumbent members were reelected, there was certainly a renovation -and not only because five members had died this year-, with a moderate generational replacement, with a slighly decrease of the average age. There were not many surprises, besides the return of current Speaker of the Parliament Shin Yong-Nam (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2315.msg21806#msg21806) (who had was not reelected to the National Executive Committee in the 2014 congress), and Hong Tae-woo (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2315.msg21815#msg21815), who had been recently elected as PDP Secretary of Organization, and who becomes the only member in the National Executive Committee without experience in the central government.

Next week, the first meeting of the new National Executive Committee will be held, when it is expected that the a new Chairman of the People's Democratic Party -the second highest-ranking office in the party- as well as clearer visions of the future of both the party and the country.

It has been cofirmed that businesswoman Lahn Thi Vo, late Minister Lahn Le Dung's elder daughter, has returned to Djabidjan after she was seen in Jangju International Airport last Friday.

Lahn, 48, has been working as a commercial representative in several Albion countries since 2019. It has been reported that she recently acquired a new home in an exclusive district in Jangju, the second largest city in the country.

According to close sources, however, it doesn't seem likely that she is going to run as candidate of the National Reform Party, as it was recently reported by a local newspaper. The National Reform Party, a member of the ruling Djabidjanian People's Coalition, is holding an important political conference next week, when a new leadership is expected to be announced, and where Lahn' sister, Lanh Thu Quy is expected to play an important role.

Another source close to Lahn's family also denied that the oldest sister had returned to Djabidjan in order to formalize the divorce with her husband, who works in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and that she is simply busy and concerned with her professional and business activities.

Hong Tae-woo, Secretary of Organization of the People’s Democratic Party and Deputy National Coordinator of the Djabidjani People’s Coalition, announced the list of candidates for the coalition in the coming legislative election, which will be held on November 11th.

Although described the future lawmakers as a “sea of renovation and continuity”, there will not be as much renovation as continuity, as the large majority of the current members of the parliament wil l run for reelection. Between the surprises, however, the main one will be  Shin Yong-Nam, current Speaker of the national parliament, who will not run for reelection and therefore will not continue as Speaker of the parliament. The move has probably surprised many, as Shin, a veteran politician with previous experience in both the national government and the People’s Democratic Party, was recently elected as Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party by the party’s National Executive Committee. This has increased the rumours that Shin may become President after the election, although he may as well focus on his role as chairman.

Between the new candidates, Kwon Mi-yeon, late Presidents Kwon Jin-gyu’s daughter and Kwon Sang-jun’s sister will stand as candidate in Jangju sixteenth district. It will be the first time that Kwon will stand as candidate in an election. Previously, she was serving as a non-voting parliamentary representative

Yes, it is true, there shouldn't be any false hopes about the coming legislative election in our country. Giving the chaotic situation after President Kwon Sang-jun's death, the government's failure to offer transparency about ongoing investigations -particularly those related to the recent terror attacks-, and the increasing abuses of human rights following the declaration of the martial law, it would be naive to believe that a real choice was being offered to the Djabidjani people and that, at least, a free and fair election could determine the future of the country. Rather the contrary, barely a week before the vote, the feeling is the opposite: that these legislative election will be likely one of the least free and fair that we have seen in the last two decades.

Still, the opposition parties have certainly failed the test. They could not blame the Djabidjani people for the coming result. They have failed to offer a true and hopeful alternative, one of the people can rally behind, in order to push toward real change and democracy. Instead, they have remained divided against the faceless ruling parties, and their own failed negotiations have shown something worse than dogmatism, a feeling of pettiness and incompetence.

The opposition may have still some time to come into their senses and find some -even if partial- unity regarding their message to voters, and establish some coordinated strategy before it is too late. In that case, independently of the result, maybe some can be saved in order to build a future for our country and our peoples.

    (Djabidjanian Times)
Opposition candidates, as well as some legal experts, have complained that the coming legislative election, which will be held on November 14th, may not meet the required democratic standards, even compared to previous elections, due to the limitations as consequence of the martial law in force nationwide.

The activities of some electoral observers may be also restricted, due to limitations on assembly established by the local authorities in many provinces of the country.

Despite this, however, the main opposition political parties have called the voters to participate in the election, hoping to deprive the ruling Djabidjanian People's Coalition of another legislative majority.

The Djabidjani People's Coalition obtained a majority in today legislative election in the Republic of Djabidjan. It is estimated that the ruling coalition will obtain 130-132 of 155 seats. It will be the eighth consecutive legislative majority for the coalition, which was established in 1986.

Although the ruling coalition will renew their parliamentary majority, there were some clear signs of voter fatigue that the new administration will need to consider. First, the turnout was considerably lower compared to previous elections, not reaching the 50% in many districts. Secondly, the results are expected to be the worst result for the Djabidani People's Coalition since 1992, and a few Djabidjani People's Coalition candidates expected to be reelected lost against opposition and independent candidates.

Six independent or non-party candidates were elected, while candidates from other four opposition political parties were elected to the national parliament. The largest political party of the opposition will be the Democratic Party, which obtained eight seats. It remains to be seem if the opposition will be allowed to form their own parliamentary group -that the constitution established in fifteen MPs-, something that has not happened since 1988 election, and it will require the agreement of the opposition political parties.

Shin Yong-Nam was elected President of the Republic of Djabidjan by the national parliament. He received 130 votes for and 22 against.

The veteran politician, who was Deputy Premier from 2002 to 2008 and Minister of Justice from 2010 to 2014, makes an unexpected comeback to become the 5th head of state of the Republic of Djabidjan.  His last role was Speaker of the national parliament for the last three months.

In his first speak as President, Shin Yong-Nam, 62, promised to implement the Djabidjan People's Coalition political platform and to continue "marching toward the path of stability and prosperity".

Min Tae-joon, current olitical Secretary of the Office of the Premier of the State Council of Ministers, is posed to be appointed Prime Ministers, according to reports.

Although other names were rumoured, such as Foreign Minister Lee Jung-nam, Minister of Education Temir Jasilraqay, or even People's Democratic Party's General Secretary Tieu Quang Vinh, it is expected that it will be announced in the coming days that Min, 51, will replace Nang Khin Maw as Premier.

The move may surprise many, as Min joined the national government only in 2018, but others may argue that his role as Political Secretary in the national government, a position close to a political assistant to the Premier and the Deputy Primer, may have prepared him for the Premiership.

MP Kim Yoo-ri was elected as General Secretary of the Democratic Party. She becomes the first woman to be elected as leader of the Democratic Party, which was established in 1969.

Kim, 41, a divorced lawyer, was one of the surprises in the last legislative election defeating Acting Minister of State Administration Chi Van Tran in Talgwon district by more than six points while standing as a candidate of the opposition Democratic Party. She was one of the eight Democratic Party candidates who were elected to the parliament, which allowed the party to be restored as largest opposition political party in the national parliament.

While Kim Yoo-ri had barely no political experience before her election to the parliament in last November, she did not hesitate to announce her candidacy to Democratic Party's Political Conference, which was held in Djabidjan City last weekend. She defeated Min Byung-ho, incumbent General Secretary of the Democratic Party since 2011 but who failed to be elected in last november, and Senpenb Kotekiwo, MP for Durnovris. She obtained 39% of the delegates' vote in the first round and 58% in the second round.

Min Byung-ho congratulated his rival and offered his support to bring change in Djabidjan. In her first speech as General Secretary of the Democratic Party, praised back his rival “I wouldn’t be here without Mr. Bin’s contribution”, she said. “The Democratic Party will continue to be the home of those who want to rebuild a democratic future for our nation”, she declared. However, she declared that she considers that they need to build bridges with other opposition political parties. “We need to build more a movement than a political party to bring real change”, she declared. Currently, Djabidjan’s opposition in the national parliament are divided in four political parties with opposing ideologies.

“True democracy, transparency, and fight against corruption should be our main three flags”, she declared. She promised to do her best to bring democracy back to Djabidjan.

Djabidjan’s men’s national team defeated Izhitsa 2-1 to advance to World Cup Quarterfinals, a historical result for Djabidjan.

Song Hyeon-Ju was chosen “Men of the Match” and scored the first goal but the main highlight of the match was when Dezyèmyoun Kotekiwo scored the final goal at minute 113, when the match seemed decided to end in the penalty knockouts. It was the third goal for Kotekiwo in this World Cup.

Fans are hopeful that the team may continue with their successful performance to achieve a place in  the top four teams, but it will not be easy, as they will be facing Ui Cenneslaig, which count their matches as wins, including a win against host Vinitsia.

Djabidjani men's football team entered in football history after defeating Kaitaine, reaching the World Cup final in their debut in the most important international tournament.

After defeating Izhitsa, Djabidjan's team entered the quarterfinals full of hopes although aware of the difficulty of the challenge.

The quarterfinals found an unprecedented hero, defender Tu Lanh Huynh, who started the tournament on the bench, scored the winning following a corner kick, in the victory against Ui Cenneslaig (1-2) a more complicated match. In the next match, Djabidjan defeated Kaitaine 3-2, in a match which was only decided in the extra time, with three goals. Song Hyeon-Ju led the team to their first World Cup final, with one goal and two assists, while striker Dezyèmyoun Kotekiwo who scored his fifth goal in the tournament to score the 2-1 at minute 104. Song scored the 3-1 in a penalty kick ten minutes later, bringing joy to the Djabidjani fans, although they had to suffered to the last minute, after Kaitaine team scored the final 3-2 after several unfortunate errors of the Djabidjani defenders.

The rival for the Djabidjani team will come from the match between Nya Aland and Achkaerin, two of the main favourites to win the world cup.

Nya Aland defeated Djabidjan in the Men's World Cup final.

The Djabijdani team hoped to surprise the Albion club. However, their own mistakes and back luck became obstacles too big for the Ardian team. Despite this, the team had enough chances to at least draw the match.

The match was not decided until the second half, when Nya Aland scored the final 2-0 following a counter-attack, to win the World Cup.

Primeiro Forte, Djabidjan national coach declared that to be disappointed for the result and the inability to break Nya Aland defense system, but to be proud of the effort of his team through both the match and the tournament. "Although we were able to control the match at times", he explained, "we were not able to be as effective as in the previous matches...We did have opportunities, but I'm disappointed -first about myself, of course- that we were not able to match them when they upped their game. But nobody expected us to reach this far, and I'm satisfied although slightly sad for both the players and the fans, of course. This should be only the beginning, because this squad may have a bright future".

The Minister of Defense has presented this morning some of the most recent technological developments, particularly in the field of weaponry and military technology, by the Republic of Djabidjan.

One of the most striking products unveiled was a "combat robot", which was baptized as Otoma-11, consisting in a remote control platform equipped with an automatic assault rifle. The system of this robot, the spokesperson of the project explained, is very simple. It uses a small crawler platform with one rifle fixed above the platform. Currently, it is equipped with a small camera although it is likely that infrared or photoelectric system may be include in future versions of the project. The soldiers only need to rely on their mobile phones to remotely observe the combat situation and conduct remote shooting.

"The model may look too simple to be effective", the spokesperson argued, "but it is actually both easy to control and cheap to produce, allowing their production en masse at a low cost".

It is expected that the Otoma model could play an important role along other more advanced models, such as Chyena-1, a four-legged semi-automatic killer robot, which can carry 180 kg of a squad's load, follow squad members through rugged terrain and interact with troops in a natural way, similar to be trained animal, as well as being equipped with explosives against a particular target in special missions.

In his last decision of the year, President Shin Yong-Nam issued a presidential decree which listed his last presidential appointments in several key positions.

Former Premier Nang Khin Maw (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2314.msg21341#msg21341) was appointed as Chairman of the Ethnic Affairs Council.

Lieutenant-colonel Kim Sung-mo (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2315.msg21161#msg21161), who previously served as Deputy Minister of Defense from 2018 to 2021 and Acting Minister of Defense since September 2021, was appointed as Chairman of the State Department of Military Information, the largest intelligence and counter-terrorist agency in the Republic of Djabidjan. He will replace Minh Vu, who was serving as Acting Chairman since November 2021.

Kwon Mi-yeon (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2315.msg21085#msg21085) was also appointed as Deputy Secretary of the Economic State Commission.

Lee Jung-nam (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2315.msg21120#msg21120), who was surprisingly replaced in the new administration as Minister of Foreign Affairs by Minister Temir Jasilraqay will also be appointed as Djabidjan's ambassador to the Empire of Daito.

Local authorities have been increasingly concerned about the increased rates on criminality experienced in Djabidjan City, Republic of Djabidjan's capital city, in the last two years. According to official statistics, the homicide rate in Djabidjan City increased to 69.6 homicides per 100,000 in 2021.

For that reason, Minister Arendse has announced a joint initiative between the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of State Security, and Djabidjan City local government to improve security and fight crime. The initiative would include an increase of prevention campaigns -particularly focused on the youth-, more security surveillance, as well as an increase of funds for both ministries as well as the local police. The operation, officially called "Operation Triangle", will be complementary with the nationwide security campaign already announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs last week.

Djabidjan City local government has also pledged to increase the police force by a 20% in the next five years, while Premier Min Tae-joon announced that the government is currently prepared in a legal project aimed to toughten criminal law in a large number of crimes.

Singer Bàvàng will perform in her first motion film.

The 22-year-old singer, who has achieved aclaim and become one of the top singers in Korean and Kiet languages in Djabidjan, has confirmed the rumours and declared to be highly "motivated and excited about this new project", in a social media post.

The younger singer recently won three Sonnò Awards (the most prestigious music award in Djabidjan) as "Best Duo", "Best Song in Kiet-language", and "Best Single of the Year".

Despite Bàvàng lacking any experience or education in acting, fans of the young artist are enthralled about this new project of their idol and her debut in cinema.

The singer was discovered by Jeol Entertainment in late 2018, and soon became a sensation nationwide. She has recently signed a 4-year contract with DEK Records, becoming the 5th highest paid singer in Djabidjan, according to recent reports.

The singer apologized to her fans for being unable to give more details about the project yet, but declared that she will be delighted to do so soon. The movie will be filmed entirely in Kiet language, the producers confirmed, likely becoming the most expensive film in that language to date.

President Shin Yong-Nam (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2315.msg21806#msg21806) is a facing an unexpected and unprecedented crisis after actress Pidlo Iwenbyen described several situations in which she was sexually harassed by President Shin.

Iwenbyen's claims came following rumours for months about alleged sexual misconduct by President Shin in the past. A month ago, two women claimed in anonymous comments in social media that they suffered sexual harassment and sexual assault during the time Shin was Speaker of the national parliament.

Iwenbyen, who has been living in Novincia since 2014, wrote that she was afraid of speaking out but she felt it was her duty to do so. She described that the events described in the early 2000s, when Shin was Deputy Premier and she was a young actress in her first important role in a local production.

According to a newspaper from Jangju, the police was able to identify one of the sources of the anonymous claims, to figure out if the claims could be libelous against the person of the president of the republic. Despite this, “Jigeum-Qazir”, a small newspaper associated to minor opposition parties has published more anonymous testimonies on Shin’s alleged, sexual misconduct in the past.  Olzha K. (likely a nickname to protect her real identity) became the sixth woman to claim to have been victimized by Shin’s conduct. The Ministry of Justice has confirmed that an investigation has been opened to consider if the report by “Jigeum-Qazir” could be considered a violation of the laws against defamation, although the newspaper claims that the sources were independently verified and collected evidence to back those claims.

While the reaction of the public opinion has remained mild, some, included representatives from the opposition, has called Shin to offer an explanation or resign immediately. So far, the government, including President Shin himself, has opted to ignore those claims, as they were not, according to spokesperson, “worthy of proper consideration”. However, a law firm has confirmed that they were contacted by the Ministry of the Presidency to bring charges in order to defend the honour of the presidency.

Ministry of Justice has confirmed that they will bring charges against MP Kim Yoo-ri (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2315.msg22533#msg22533), following the claims the opposition MP made in a recent interview against the lack of response and deligence on investigating corruption cases.

“The honour and professionalism of the Djabidjan’s judiciary can not be doubted, and we consider that parliamentary oversight should not enter in the fields of defamation and the corrosion of the public’s confidence in the independence of the judiciary”, the ministry said in a written statement. The ministry has declared, however, that the actions of the ministry do not aim to interfere with the parliamentary actitivty of Mrs. Kim or other members of the parliament, and it should be understood to be confined to this particular case.

Kim Yoo-ri, leader of the opposition Democratic Party, has described the ministry’s statement “as outragenous as ridiculous”, and she is not afraid to defend herself and she will continue to defend the truth and justice in both her parliamentary duties and public interventions.

The 18-year old athlete from Lavilsid, southern Djabidjan, surprised the favourite, the Achkaerinese Izzy Brittaine, to win the gold in Snowboarding Women's Aerial, giving Djabidjan the first golden medal in the history of the Winter Games.

Later in the day, she obtained a second medal, winning comfortably the bronze medal in Snowboarding Women's Slopestyle. Ku declared to be "tremendously happy but a bit tired right now".

While snowboarding may not be one of the most popular sports in Djabidjan, Ku declared to be overpowered by all the support and congratulations she received in social media.

Ministry of Justice has confirmed that criminal charges against Burhaan Temitope and the leadership of the Independent Faithful Movement, also known Dhaah Party, will be brought as "intellectual authors" of the Namgung Theatre terrorist attack.

Temitope, who is currently serving several life sentences in a high security prison in southern Djabidjan is the founder and leader of the Christian Action Front, a Catholic and separatist terrorist organization. In 2015, the organization was renamed as Independent Faithful Movement, or Dhaah Party. If he was declared guilty or such charges, he could face the death penalty.

Temitope's lawyers have declared such accusation as "baseless", declaring there is no evidence that any member of the Independent Faithful Movement was involved in the attack, and it was in any case impossible that Temitope could communicate with any potential suspects. They have declared that they will issue a petition so that the charges are repealed and not considered by judiciary authorities.

In a statement published hours after the announcement, the Independent Faithful Movement has repeated their condemnation of the attack, and declared that "our movement left all forms of armed struggled in 2012...our political party being based in peaceful principles and doctrine", calling for mobilization in both Djabidjan and abroad for the release of members of the organization "illegally arrested by the illegitimate government in Djabidjan".

Dhaah Party is an illegal organization in Djabidjan, and their real number of supporters and sympathizers in the country are unknown.

MP Kwon Mi-yeon became the first Djabidjani People's Coalition member to directly address the recent allegations against President President Shin Yong-Nam regarding sexual misconduct.

Kwon described the allegations as "shocking and unprecedented", and while she said that her first inclination was to be skeptical and respect the presumption of innocence, suggested that the best course of action could be establishing an independent commission, under the authority of the Ministry of Justice, to determine if the allegations are credible or not. "This is a serious matter", she argued, "as not only the honour of man, who has shown his compromise with the state and the nation for a long time, there is no doubt, but the honour of a head of state and the nation itself...The situation is likely to be unfair, but such doubts shall remain for the leadership of our nation".

Kwon's proposal was met rather with silence and moderate dismissal by other representatives of the ruling Djabidjani People's Coalition. A statement from the national leadership of the coalition assured that Kwon's proposal is not "a suggestion endorsed by the coalition", while a spokesperson of the People's Democratic Party, in which Kwon is a member, has assured that Kwon's statement "must be understood as a personal declaration, not a party or government policy".

Kwon Mi-yeon was elected to the national parliament in last election, after serving as non-voting parliamentary representative for two years. She is well-known for being late President Kwon Jin-gyu's daughter and late President Kwon Sang-jun's sister. She also served in the parliamentary Committee on Women's and Family Affairs, from 2019 to 2022, being recently being appointed as Deputy Secretary of the Economic State Commission.

Democratic Party MP Kim Yoo-ri was sentenced by a Djabidjan City court in a defamation course, which was described by her own party and other opposition politicians as a "politically motivated case aimed to intimidate the opposition".

The court ruled that Kim Yoo-ri had violated the libel legislation through her accusations against the independence of the judiciary, as well against as the honour of civil servants and government officials regarding alleged corruption cases.

Although the case was a civil case, and therefore no prison sentence will be involved, Kim Yoo-ri was sentenced to pay 5 million livras (about 10,000 USD), and was suspended as a member of the national parliament. As a consequence, Kim will be also barred to ever run to office again in the future. However, the sentence will not come immediately into effect, as Kim has still right to appeal the rule and, therefore, she may continue with her parliamentary duties, at least temporarily.

A former lawyer, Kim Yoo-ri was elected to the national parliament as a candidate of the Democratic Party in the 2021 legislative election. Several weeks later, she was elected General Secretary of the Democratic Party, which turned her into the leading opposition MP in the parliament, even if such position does not officially exist.

A few minutes after the ruling was announced, Mrs. Kim addressed her supporters in a videoblog in social media, declaring that the rule "is not going to stop our fight toward justice and democracy" and "this is only the beginning". She assured that the opposition "will not be silenced".

Government representatives did not comment on the case.

In a recorded statement, a group of religious militants, claiming to be a splinter group from the Independent Faithful Movement, or Dhaar Party (formerly known as the terrorist organization Christian Action Front), have announced their decision to "stand up against the increasing oppression of our brethen and their families" and announced armed struggled against the Republic of Djabidjan.

The statement was made entirely in Maadanic language, full of theological and political references, in which they justify their decision to take arms against the state. They announced themselves as Iskaabin Aamin-ah (which can be translated as "Faithful Resistance"), and they are believed to be ethnic Maadan. They claimed to be loyal to the "morally rightful principles" established by the Christian Action Front and the so-called Dhaar Party, and although they respect the leadership and spiritual guidance offered by "Our Brother Burhaan Temitope", they claim "it is time to realize that the path opened in 2011 have resulted in a failure as consequence of the government opposition to dialogue...facing our community a dead end with increasing oppresion and repression".

They claimed to have "several hundreds of supporters willing to join the just religious resistance against the state", and claimed two incendiary attacks against two police stations in southeastern Djabidjan last week (the attack only resulted with two policemen wounded).

The group also issued a second written statement, this time published in both Maadanic and Kozmane languages, calling all Christians to do their moral duty and renounce all positions in Djabidjan's government as "one can not remain neutral under an oppressive regime", and lambasted against Djabidjani government officials' "offensive performance of fake Christianity". In the statement, the group also assured that, although it is founded in "strong Catholic principles", they have not a stance against other Christian denominations, and their "resistance...will be opened to all just men of any ethnicity, racial background...which support the basic principles of Christian message and self-determination of the peoples of these lands". They also called for solidarity of Christians worldwide in defense of their resistance.

The leadership of the Catholic Church in the Republic of Djabidjan has openly condemned the statement, calling believers to avoid any association with this group. "There is no room for violence and terrorism in the Christian doctrine", a Catholic Church spokesperson declared.

The executive committee in exile of the Dhaar Party has also denied any relation with this new militant group. "We do not support the path toward armed confrontation and violence", they said in a statement, "and we have serious doubts about any connection that this group may have with our movement".

Businessman Yang Cheol-min was released on bail after testifying during two hours in a Djabidjan City court.

Yang, CEO of Jido Investments, was accused of his involvement in a criminal case regarding the bribery of government officials, concealment of criminal proceeds, and cooperation with criminal organization. Jido Investments, since its creation in 2017, has been particularly active in real estate, trading, construction, and tourism sectors.

Yang Cheol-min is married to Kwon Mi-yeon, late President Kwon Jin-gyu's daughter and late President Kwon Sang-jun's sister and currently a member of the national parliament.

A spokesperson from the Office of the General Attorney has denied speculations that the case may be a reprisal against Yang's wife recent political statement. "This investigation has been going on for months, so we can only find such claim as absurd and slanderous", he said. A Ministry of Justice spokesperson also denied earlier rumours that Yang's wife, MP Kwon Mi-yeon, was going to be put under house arrest for her alleged involvement with his husband's business activities.

Yang's lawyers have insisted in his innocence, declaring they are certain that his name and honour "will be cleansed at the end of this legal process".

For her part, Kwon Mi-yeon has declared to be "personally overwhelmed" by the recent developments, while offering her cooperation with judiciary authorities, in case that was necessary, she said. "It is my conviction that the defense of the interests of my family, as mother and wife, has never been and will never be contradictory with my compromise with the public good and service to the country", she added in a statement.

Political Secretary Lahn Thi Huynh declared to be surprised about the case, assuring that the government respects the independence of the judiciary. "For now", she declared, "we can only wait to the result of the current investigation", while denying earlier reports that Yang Cheol-min was a member of the Djabidjani People's Coalition. "To my knowledge, the only relation of Mr. Yang with our political movement were through his personal connections, as the coalition did not have any deal or cooperation with Jido Investments", she assured, despite Yang has reportedly been a donor of the People's Democratic Party. Political Secretary Lahn did not comment on calls asking Kwon Mi-yeon to resign.

According to leaked reports, the Executive Council of the People's Democratic Party had what one could describe as the most tense meeting in decades.

While it was expected to be an ordinary meeting for the Executive Council (the People's Democratic Party second most important decision body), an additional resolution issued by an unidentified deputy secretary of a national sub-committee brought a heated discussion, which the chair of the Executive Council struggled to calm and moderate, according to witnesses. The resolution in question, although a non-binding one, asked the party leadership for the suspension from membership in the People's Democratic Party to MP Kwon Mi-yeon, in relation to the recent corruption scandal in which her husband is allegedly involved.

It was required at least a break of twenty minutes until the resolution was finally voted by the members of the Executive Council. The resolution was defeated by 38 votes against while 34 votes for. If confirmed, the result would be certainly striking, not only for being a close vote of censure against a sitting MP, but regarding the influence of the Kwon's family, which held the leadership of the People's Democratic Party from 1988 to 2021.

President Shin Yong-Nam, who also holds the office of Chairman of the People's Democratic Party, did not attend the meeting.

In an exclusive interview published in "Jinsulhan Sasil", a Korean-language weekly newspaper published in Heyra, a former member of the State Department of Military Information [Djabidjan's main intelligence agency], unprecedented accusations against the Djabidjani government were issued.

THe interviewed assured that the government is not telling the truth about the Namgung theatre terror attack which claimed the life of more than one hundred people, including several government officials. He did not gave much details, as he remains anonymous for security reasons, but gave wide explanations of an alleged attempt to cover up the real responsibility for the terror attack the days after the attack. In these operation, which claimed the life of at least ten people, were involved important people from the Ministry of Defense.

"The current administration knows this", he assured, "but I believe they are hiding the truth for obvious reasons. Now the whole government is accomplice but the truth must be known".

He admitted that he has not concrete evidence of these claims, but he promised to cooperate with authorities and independent experts to offer more relevations.

A spokesperson from the Djabidani government has responded that such allegations are just "libelous nonsense" and may only deserve legal action.

The People's Democratic Party is the largest political party in both the national parliament and the ruling Djabidjani People's Coalition. It has currently twelve ministers in the current State Council of Ministers.

In an unprecedented move, the National Executive Committee of the People's Democratic has decided to suspend President Shin Yong-Nam of his duties as Chairman of the People's Democratic Party.

The decision cames after a week of internal division within the party, and following socialite Moon So-ra released a video claiming that President Shin groped her during a public reception in the national parliament in 2019. At the time, President Shin was Deputy Speaker of the parliament.

However, it is not clear what the decision will entail regarding Shin's political future, as Secretary of Organization Hong Tae-woo declared, it is "not mean that [President Shin] has been dismissed as Chairman of the party".

General Secretary Tieu Quang Vinh briefly attended the media after the decision was announced, asking for patience, clarifying that "a process have started and we can oly allow it to take its course, we must respect the dignity of those involved, and exercise discipline and restraint".
President Shin Yong-Nam denied rumours that he is considering resignation, following the decision of the People's Democratic Party, following the decision of the National Executive Committee to temporarily suspend his duties and activies as Chairman of the political party.

"Nothing has changed", President Shin declared in a visit to Lavalsid, "we are only concerned to continue working for the people of Djabidjan".

A source close to the presidency have declared that "one must understand that both spheres are completely separated...one is [President Shin's] duties and responsiblity as chairman of the party, another is official role as head of the state". It is expected therefore that President Shin will continue with its agenda.

President Shin Yong-Nam has announced his resignation as President of the Republic of Djabidjan. Shin was elected president last November.

President Shin has recently been under serious accusations, including past sexual misconduct and interfering with judiciary investigations. He denied all charges and claimed to be innocent.

"This has not been an easy decision", President Shin announced in his last television address as President of the Republic, "but I can't stand causing any division in our successful movement, even if that means facing an unfair situation, as every honest person should and will recognize".

"I can not agree with the dirty campaign that our enemies has brought against me and my name", he finally announced, "but I have served all my life both the people and our political movement since I joined it, many decades ago...Even if I disagree with the decision of the leadership of my organization, I have always been a disciplined militant of the People's Democratic Party for more than four decades, and I am proud of my service".

Shin declared that he will fight to clean his name and prove his innocence as a private citizen. "I have decided to move away for the best of the people and the nation", he declared, "but my name and my honour will not be defeated by this campaign of lies and dishonour".

Min Tae-joon has been elected President of the Republic of Djabidjan by the national parliament. He was elected by a clear 126-24 vote.

Min will replace Shin Yong-Nam as President of the Republic of Djabidjan. He is a member of the People's Democratic Party, the leading political party in the ruling Djabidjani People's Coalition. He will be the fifth People's Democratic Party militant to become President of the Republic since the People's Democratic Party came to power in 1983. Min had served as Premier of the State Council in November 2021. He had joined the government in 2018.

The parliamentary session was rather calm, following a tense week until President Shin announced his resignation in a television address. Shin, a former Deputy Premier and Speaker of the national parliament, was also elected president in November 2021 as well, following the last legislative election. However, in the last weeks, Shin was involved in allegations of sexual misconduct from years ago, as well accusations of nepotism and hiding information regarding national security. While many have suggested that this whole crisis is likely to weaken the ruling coalition, some insiders seem convinced on the contrary.

Shin's resignation was announced after a week with diverse rumours, after it was claimed that Shin himself was opposed to such move. It was even rumoured that Shin was ready to defend himself in front of the parliament, even if his own party threatened to start a process of impeachment. It was rumoured that he even started talks with some MPs from the opposition, although this has been denied by several sources. It has been speculated that the recent division within the People's Democratic Party was not exactly about the accusations voiced against President Shin, but rather a power struggle him and the Kwon family and those close to them, something that could have alienate some senior members and militants of the People's Democratic Party.

The choice of Premier Min as President, although an obvious one given his position as head of the government, was not clear as they were rumoured several names to replace Shin as President. It will be seen if he manages to bring order and calm after this unexpected and unprecedented political crisis.

    (Jinsulhan Sasil)
It was confirmed that the armed attack against a Centre for Personal Surveillance and Social Integration in Taewhar, was likely carried out by militants of Iskaabin Aamin-ah (Faithful Resistance), a Christian terrorist group which founding was recently announced.

The attack claimed the lives of nineteen terrorists, two policemen, and four security guards. It was unclear the real objective of the attack and, although they failed to advance and enter in the facilities of the state internment center, a shooting between law enforcement and terrorists followed, and some important material damages were caused. Another five terrorists were arrested, while from two to five attackers are believed to have escaped. To date, it is the deadliest attack by the terror group.

Authorities have not shared any information about the potential aim of the attack. It was previously reported that the terrorists could been attempting to liberate some suspects or their relatives which were held in the state internment center. However, police sources have denies this, and argued that they attackers may decide the place rather for its location rather than for the people held in the center. In either case, the attack does not seem to be a coincidence or unexpected, as in a recent propaganda video, the terrorist organization denounced the "Centres for Personal Surveillance and Social Integration" as "concentration camps" where "activists and minorities" are "deprived of their dignity and constitutional rights". The government, of course, have rejected such accusations as absurd.

It is not the first time that the Centres for Personal Surveillance and Social Integration, sometimes commonly referred as "state internment centers" are object of controversy, although it is the first time they were under a physical attack of this dimension. However, in the past, some human rights organizations have argued that these state internment centers (where any suspect can be sent and held to serve a maximum of 2-year sentence, without being officially charged without any crime, and where family separation is sometimes enforced) pose a serious threat to the legal order of the republic. However, they have existed in 2009, and the government has insisted that only those involved in serious illegal activities, such as terrorism, human and drug trafficking, and anti-social behavior are being held in these centers,  and that their constitutional rights of the people held in these centers are guaranteed and that they offer an socio-educational purpose, rather than a purely punitive one.

Several MP have demanded the government to improve and increase the security of these centers and other government facilities that may be under threat of terrorist activity.

A court from Djabidjan City has issued an international arrest warrant against five Djabidjani citizens, including the editor-in-chief and two others journalists from "Jinsulhan Sasil", a Korean-language weekly newspaper published in Heyra.

They are accused of several charges, including libel, cooperation with illegal organization, and subversion against the state. As a consequence, the judge has issued an official communication for the extradition of the accused from Heyra. If sentenced, they could be facing sentences going from one year to twenty years in jail.

The judge has ruled that an opinion article published in the newspaper, in which one of the journalist suggested that unruly members of the Djabidjani armed forces, through action or omission, may be actually behind the Namgung terrorist attack, which claimed more than one hundred lives -including leader government officials- was a fact-free defamation against the honour of the armed forces and the refusal of the newspaper to give information about a fugitive of the justice who was recently interviewed as well by the newspaper constituted an obstruction of justice and and cooperation with illegal activity.

The legal team of the defendants have argued that the case is a "violation of free speech" and they reject the charges brought against them.

No official statement from Heyran authorities has been issued yet.

    (Jinsulhan Sasil)
President Min Tae-joon has signed his first law since he was elected President of the Republic of Djabidjan. The legislation, which repeal eleven clauses and modify another eight ones from the criminal code, will decriminalize homosexuality in Djabidjan.

The so-called anti-sodomy laws, which has criminalized men engaging in sexual activity with other men, have existed in Djabijdjan's criminal code for decades, and their abolition has been a long demand by activists. The law, however, was rarely enforced. The legislation against homosexuality was expanded in 1956 under Kang Dong-Il's regime, only to be included in the criminal code under the Social Republic of Djabidjan.

The legislation did not receive unanimous support from the ruling coalition, with several government MPs, particularly those from the Djabidjani Christian Party (including minister Dirijan Bondye) voting against it. It also divided the opposition, with the Democratic Party supporting it and other opposition voted against it or abstained.

Archbishop Nke Abuo Amamihe, highest religious authority in the Free Reformed Church, criticized the legislation as "divisive and unnecessary...which may give the society a confusing and wrong signal". Representatives from the Catholic Church and the Universal Free Church were more critical, while some independent theologians expressed support or understanding about the legislation.

Meanwhile, some human rights groups have petitioned the government and parliamentary groups to reject calls to issue the constitutionality of the legislation to the Supreme Court.

Djabidjan's Supreme Court has reviewed the case against MP Kim Yoo-ri, who was sentenced to 5 million livras (about 10,000 USD), and was suspended as a member of the national parliament. The ruling increased the compensation to 8 million livras (about 15,500 USD) while annuling her suspension as member of the parliament. However, she will remain disqualified to ever run for political office again.

Kim Yoo-ri, one of the most prominent members of the opposition and General Secretary of the Democratic Party declared that she was not surprise about the ruling, because this process has been "openly nothing but a political trial, not just against me but anyone opposing the current regime", she declared in a statement to her supporters.

"I can't understand why the government may be afraid", Kim declared, "but this is not going to stop us to continue to say the truth to the people, and denounce corruption and criminal behavior. Justice will prevail".

Some have argued that the decision could force Kim to step down as leader of the Democratic Party, the largest opposition politicial party, giving that the ruling will stop her to run ever for office, once the current term of the parliament ends in 2015. However, sources from the Democratic Party have denied such considerations and expect that Kim will give her best as MP even if the ruling finally stands.

An exploration by Gyeolseong Mining Company in behalf of Djabidjan's Ministry of National Development and Energy has discovered and unearthed unexpected and unknown reserves of lithium, coltan, and tantalum in undisclosed areas in the southeastern region of Djabidjan, according to an official report.

It is unclear how vast such reserves may be, although the report mentions a "potentially significative amount of resources for a considerably long-lasting impact" according to a technical research done by Gyeolseong Mining Company with assistance of independent experts.

Djabijdani government has declared that it will issue a second and deeper exploration and analysis by an independent team before reaching a definitive conclusions about the discovery and the economic prospects of such discovery. Experts in the sector have received the news with prudence but "highly hopeful" with a positive outcome for the mining sector in Djabidjan, which had experience a relative stagnation in the last decade.

However, other voices have showed some skepticism or doubts about the prospects, as it is not clear how it could affect the areas affected, including one of Djabidjan's larges natural parks which may be close to the area discovered.

Eleven people were arrested in a raid in the headquarters Dan-eo-Paròl Foundation, a Christian charity organization based in Jangju.

The suspects, with includes at least two members of the clergy, are accused of serious charges including tax evasion, fraud, an embezzlement. Police sources were quoted declaring that the raid was "conclusive...and important evidences were discovered".

Dan-eo-Paròl Foundation was established in 1997, and it is closely associated with the Universal Free Church, third largest religious denomination in Djabidjan. Since its foundation, the foundation was particularly involved with organizing charity events, and providing resources and assistance to orphans, young mothers, families, as well as involved in awareness campaigns against violence, drug consumption, or unmoral behavior.

A representative from the Universal Free Church declared to be "both surprised and shocked" about the news, but they are "certain of the innocence of the suspects and the trasparency of the foundation". However, they fear that, giving the situation the foundation is currently is facing, the foundation may be forced to halt some of the initiatives planned, at least temporarily.

Minister of Justice Benedita Akegliz declared that "as a religious person" she is "deeply saddened" about such investigation about an organization that is considered to be based in such moral work and Christian values" and which has provided help to those most vulnerable in our society. "However", she added, "independently of the circumstances, we need to fight corruption and unlawful behavior wherever it is found", defending the work of the prosecution and law enforcement.

It has been reported that businesswoman and socialite Kim Thu Huy (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2315.msg22753#msg22753) has married with weekend with Tieu Quang Vinh (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2315.msg21105#msg21105), General Secretary of the People's Democratic Party, who also recently joined the government as Deputy Premier of the State Council of Ministers. The wedding was held in Central Lai Hotel in Jangju.

The celebration of the wedding was private and it hadn't been announced previously, probably for privacy. However, it has been reported that important people from the business, cultural, and political life of the country were invited, including Premier Hong Tae-woo.

Kim was previously married with late Speaker Chau Hung Tran, leader of the National Reform Party from 1991 until his death in 2021, in the Namgung National Theatre terror attack. Deputy Premier Tieu's late wife also died in the same terror attack, showing that love finds ways even through the most tragic paths. It is unclear when Kim, 59, and Deputy Premier Tieu, 57, started their relationship.

Kim Thu Huy was formerly a member of the National Reform Party, even if she never had any political or government position. Her current political affiliation is unknown, if it is not clear it will change as consequence of the change of her civil status. The current leader of the National Reform Party, Minister Vinh Thao Tran (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2315.msg22509#msg22509), was also between those who attended the wedding.

The national parliament has passed the National Strategy for State Security Act by a clear majority. The legislation will introduce minor changes in the 2009 National Security Reform Act, increasing criminal punishment for those attacking or endangering the law enforcement and state security officers, as well as giving special powers to the Ministry of State Security to establish certain messures and decisions in a limited geographical area up to 15 days without parliamentary or judiciary approval.

The legislation, despite their clear support in the parliament, was criticized by most opposition groups, and some human rights organizations, as it "threatens to curtain basic constitutional rights and, more importantly, the right of supervision on government's actions", a report issued by the Djabidjani Assembly of Citizens warns. More critical were representatives from the opposition Democratic Party, which qualified the act as "unconstitutional" and "unnecessary".

However, a government spokesperson justified the legislation on grounds on recent increase in criminal violence and terrorism in the country. "The legislation will not affect the civil rights of ordinary citizens", Political Secretary Lahn Thi Huynh declared, "but empower and guarantee the action of law enforcement with the aim to increase both security and efficiency". Political Secretary Lanh also pointed at the cooperation between the ministries of State Security and Home Affairs that will be strengthened through the creation of several inter-government bodies and communication channels.

Amechi Toplis, main rider from Koryonggang cycling team, has shared his thoughts with before the start of the Ashina Grand Tour. It will be his first participation in the grand tour in Daito.

Although he has not win an official cycling race this season yet, Toplis has showed his strength this season, leading the Mundus Cycling Cup classification. "We are satisfied about our performance, although we're looking for more, of course", he explained. "We always hope to win. But it's not always easy, they are difficult and experienced rivals, but we try our best".

Toplis has turned this season in the leader of the Koryonggang team, the only cycling team from Djabidjan in the elite world cycling category. The team was launched in 2016 competing in the regional category until 2019, when the team started to compete at the continental level. Last year, the team regularly participated in the elite category for first time. After Fidèl Vitès left Koryonggang to sign up for the Jugland-based AABL-AD team, Toplis became the leader of the team, as he often served as Vitès' main domestique rider.

However, he has some reservations about his role in the coming cycling race in Daito, suggesting that fans may see a more collective version of the team, unlike the recent cycling races, depending on the terrain and the circumstances of each stage. "In a sense", Toplis explained, "the Ashina Grand Tour is not tough enough. While I always have winning in my mind, it's not the best context for my own charateristics. But we hope to bring success for our team and the fans".

After the Ashina Grand Tour, Toplis confirmed that he plans to participate in the Djabidjan's national championship. After that, he plans to take a bit of a rest until next Mundus Cycling Cup event, in Solace.

The southern town of Palustria, with about 25,000 inhabitants, after the corpse of Fadhili Choi, a well-known Catholic priest, was found dead in his own car this morning. Although they expressed prudence until an official autopsy is performed, police authorities consider that the death is being investigated as a murder, although the cause is unknown. While it was reported that a robbery could be a likely motivation, it is not ruled out that a settling of scores or even a terrorist attack could be behind the death of the priest.

Choi, 59, had moved to Palustria two decades before. Most of the inhabitants have declared to be shocked and sad about his murder. Choi's parish and church was popularly known as "The Drugstore", a nickname given more than a decade ago for the higher number of people in the area with drug addiction. Choi was particularly active in campaigns of awareness against drugs consumption, as well as other issues, such as youth criminality and solidarity with deprived families.

It was later reported that it was found five hundred kilograms of cocaine in Choi's car. However, local people seems to be skeptical that the priest could be involved in any kind of drug consumption. "Father Fadhili was focused in serving the community", a woman declared, "he was unknown to have any vices and was a kind man".

The leadership of the Catholic Church in Djabidjan has expressed their sadness for the fate of the priest, declaring that they hope that his tragic death is investigated with the proper diligency and care, without entering in more details.

Burhaan Magan Warsame Temitope, founder of the defunct Christian Action Front armed group, and leader of the Independent Faithful Movement, was sentenced to death, along other seven defendants, for his alleged involvement in the Namgung National Theatre terror attack.

Temitope, 81, who has been serving a life sentence for the terrorist actions of the Christian Action Front since 1996, denied any involvement, as well as the official leadership of the Independent Faithful Movement, which remains a banned organization in Djabidjan although it has officially renounced "armed struggle" since its 2015 Founding Platform.

Temitope's legal team has declared the ruling "a travesty of justice", assuring that the prosecution failed to offer any serious evidence besides oral and written testimonies which were "doubtful at best...when not directly preposterous". Despite this claims, the Djabidjan City judge ruled that "there was clear evidence that it can not be denied about [the accused] role as intellectual author of the massacre".

The Namgung National Theatre terrorist attack, which claimed the lives of 214 people last year, including prominent members of Djabidjan's government, was the deadliest terrorist attack in Djabidjan's history. However, the attack was not officially claimed by any terrorist group, and the prosecution and law enforcement received criticism about the lack of transparency regarding the case, which Djabidjani authorities have justified in relation with the secrecy in summary proceedings and threat to the national security.

Minister of Justice Benedita Aklegliz has praised the professionalism of the prosecution adding that "hundreds of families will have some rest now that the perpetrators have faced the impeccable action of justice".

On their part, Independent Faithful Movement leadership in exile called for "peaceful actions" against Temitope's execution.

Lafwa Publishing House, one of the largest Catholic publishing houses in Djadbidjan, suffered a raid by Djabidjan's police in the city of Jangju, where the publishing house is headquartered. Lafwa Publishing House is publicly known for publishing the sermons and theologic works of Djabidjan's Catholic clergy, as well as translating the Pope's official circulars.

The raid was part of a anti-terrorist raid, and included the arrest of four employees of the company, although all except one were fred with charges after declaring to the police authorities. According to Djabidjan's authorities, law enforcement had been investigating possible links of members of the organization with terrorist organizations, particularly the recently created  Iskaabin Aamin-ah (Faithful Resistance).

The raid was likely motivated by potential connections between the publishing house and Rageh Mire. Mire, a former Catholic priest whose whereabouts are unknown, is allegedly a prominent member of Iskaabin Aamin-ah. It has been said, although it has not been confirmed, that Mire left the country in recent months. Between 2013 and 2018, he wrote two books which were published by Lafwa Publishing House, although the books were about theology and Catholic doctrine, and they have no relevant political content, according to scholar Jeong Ye-Jun, who was consulted by this newspaper.

Thao Anh Tran, Chairman of Lafwa Publishing House, who was called to testify tomorrow, declared that the company had no contact with Mire since 2020, and they were unaware of his involvement in illegal activities until it was recently published in the media.

The leadership of the Catholic Church in Djabdijan has demanded Djabidjan's government "proportionality and responsibility" in their actions, declaring that no member of the clergy is involved in unlawful, illegal, or criminal actions.

During an interview with Gwanchalja newspaper, President Min Tae-joon has expressed his positive view to move into further integration between the political parties that form the ruling Djabidjani People's Coalition. "Our coalition has a success, which our people is a witness", he declared. "I am convinced that political integration is likely to lead toward a more effective and inclusive government. I already talked to our companions in the Djabidjani People's Coalition about this, and I feel that progress in that direction is possible".

President Min's words have understood as a call or proposal that other political parties and organizations that form the Djabidjani People's Coalition are either integrated into the People's Democratic Party (the largest political party in the coalition, in which the President himself is a member), or merged into a new centralized political parrty. The proposal came to as surprise as President Min, unlike previous Djabidjan's presidents, while a member of the National Executive Committee of the People's Democratic Party, does not hold a leadership position in the party, as he is not neither Chairman nor General Secretary of the party, positions currently held by Hwang Yong-joon, mayor of Jangju, and Deputy Premier Tieu Quanh Vinh, respectively.

Premier Hong Tae-woo, excusing himself that he had not read the interview, declared that is a proposal "certainly worthy of consideration, of course...although it is not the focus of our executive and legislative agenda right now".

"I usually trust President Min's judgement and respect his opinion", Minister Dirijan Bondye, Chairman of the Djabiidjani Christian Party as well, declared, "although this is a serious discussion that is has not been officially on the agenda of our coalition so far. As usual, such decision should be based in a democratic and collective agreement, but we are very satifisfied about the decisions and our role in the coalition, despite some differences on opinion on certain issues, of course".

Clashing between government forces and militants from terrorist group Iskaabin Aamin-ah have left with 20 civilian casualties in one of Djabidjan's southern provinces.

The violence took place for first time in the context of a special operation under the National Strategy for State Security Act, which allows the Ministry of State Security mobilize armed forces and special forces under a joint command, as well as restricting the movement of citizens and certain constitutional rights such as the freedom of assembly in a limited geographical area up to 15 days without legislative or judiciary approval.

Despite the special operation, local groups have criticized that criminal activity seemed to have increased in the area. The civilian casualties were consequence of both citiziens who were caught between shootings between law enforcement and terrorist militants, as well as it could be described as summary executions. Minister of State Security Jung Tae-wook announced that at least 15 terrorists were neutralized and other 10 arrested by law enforcement.

The leadership of the Independent Faithful Movement in exile, has called for peaceful protests in Djabidjan and abroad to express opposition of the death penalty veredict against eight defendants, including Independent Faithful Movement leader urhaan Magan Warsame Temitope. Yesterday, Djabidjan's Supreme Court reject the appeal of the defendants' legal team, effectively giving green light to the execution. If carried out, it will be the first time since 2002 that prisoners charged with crimes related to terrorism will be executed in Djabidjan. In the case of Temitope, 81, he will also be the oldest person to be executed since Djabidjan's independence.

In their statement, besides arguing about the "lack of judicial standards and the violation of basic constitutional rights of the defendants" during the trial, they warned about the serious obstacle toward peace and reconciliation if Temitope were executed.

Temitope was one of the founders of Christian Action Group, a Catholic armed group that launched a campaign of armed attacks which left about 500 casualties in both sides. For that reason, Temitope himself had been serving a life sentence since 1997. In 2012, the group announced they were leaving armed struggle to became a political party, renaming itself as Independent Faithful Movement, declaring that they will pursue merely peaceful resistance and political participation to achieve their political goals. Despite this, the organization has remained an illegal organization in Djabidjan. While initially a separatist organization that aimed to establish an independent religious state for the Maadaan people, in 2018 the organization amended their charter, proposing a federalization of Djabidjan.

The terrorist organization Iskaabin Aamin-ah has released a video recording regarding the last activities of the organization. The recording lasts about 10 minutes, and experts seem to agree that it was not recorded in Djabidjan.

The separatist organization claimed their strategy is "giving its first fruits" and their membership has experienced a considerable growth in the last months, as "more and more...Maadaan youth is willing to fight and offer their lives to the just cause against the oppression of their brothers and sisters".

In their statement, the organization has confirmed that fighting between their forces and law enforcement took place in one of Djabidjan's southern provinces. However, the organization has denied that they carried out summary execution of 10 civilians during several attacks and robbery in the mentioned province as it was earlier reported.

Djabidjan national football team finished their preparation for the Mundus Games, with a 3-3 draw against Jugland in Sandberg, in the same stadium where they have been training for the last five days. They will have their debut match in the Azavrelia Mundus Games in the EMAC-SK Stadium in Albrektberg, not too far where the Ardian team has been training.

There are high expectations for the Djabidjan men's football team, particularly after Djabidjan finished runner-up in 2021 World Cup in Vinitsia. Therefore, many expect that men's football could be one, although the only, of the highest options for Djabidjan to obtain a medal in the coming Mundus Games.

Primeiro Forte, Djabidjan's national coach, has declared that they are confident about their changes although that expectations should be reasonable. "There will be many good teams", he declared. "Our boys will do their best but it is not going to be easy to advance to the semifinals. We're prepared to do our best effort and do a good tournament, but it is difficult to predict".  Forte, who also heads Djabidjan's Under 23 national team argued that their team is a young one, so it should be avoived to put too much pressure on the team. "I understand the fans", he declared, "but we will be facing a tough tournament. Whatever happens, I hope they will be able to recognize that the players that they will give all the best during the tournament".

Although Djabidjan's national Mundus Games will include only nine players who were part of the Djabidjani team which surprised the world in the last World Cup, fans are hopeful that they will continue to amaze the world in these Mundus Games.

Djabidjan's Justice Foundation, a NGO focused on legal reform, has expressed their concern against the increasing number of people disappeared in the last months, and the failure of police authorities to offer results to their families.

"We are aware that police has to face a tough job", spokesperson Dumisani Yoong-Soo declared, "as there are sadly too many crimes in our cities. However, families are increasing to feel that the government is not doing enough, as these cases have increased without much progress on police or judiciary investigations".

"We have already two dozens of these cases", he explained, "but in the last weeks, more and more families have contacted us with with similar situation. They have started to organize, to demand transparency, and we are trying to help them with the legal costs. But it is not easy." Dumisani assured that most of these recently missing person did not have anything that could be described as suspecting or illegal activity but law-abiding citizens who, in some cases, were very active in their communities.

Dumisani, who recently had met with officials of the Ministry of Justice to demand more transparency regarding people who were arrested and sent to Centres for Personal Surveillance and Social Integration without families being informed at least until three weeks, has declared that he is hopeful that the government will act to avoid a generalization of a feeling of impunity and abandonment for the relatives of these people.

Eya M. may have never expected to talk with our newspaper. And giving the circumstances, she may have prefered not to do so, after all. But as Djabidjan's Supreme Court rejection of the appeal of his brother, who was sentenced to death penalty for his alleged involvement in the terrorist attack in Namgung National Theatre terror attack, she felt forced to speak. Despite the ruling, Eya still believes in the innocense of his brother, and such belief seems sincere enough.

"Everyone knows that the ruling was not a fair one", she declares. "If it was not that serious, I'd find it rather absurd...The prosecution failed to bring any evidence against my brother". Eya's brother was an employee at the theatre where the terrorist attack ocurred. His legal team argued that the day of the horrible terrorist attack, he was in his day off, and that he had not connections with the rest of suspects.

"Our family is diverse, as many families in Djabidjan", Eya explains. "However, we come from the west, and we are just a poor and law-abiding family, with no connections not just to these terrorist organization my brother was accused to belong, but the cause they claim to defend...My brother would have not reasons to cooperate with criminals. We feel that killing an innocent man in these circumstances is a crime in itself. We only want our brother back. Killing an innocent without evidences doesn't sound like justice to me".

Eya's claims are not too different than the rest of suspects, of course, who claim no involvement in the attack, including convicted terrorist leader Burhaan Temitope, who was sentenced to death for being the alleged intellectual author of the attack. "I believe that everyone deserves a fair trial, of course", Eya replies when asked about this. "I don't know the truth. I only convinced that my brother has nothing to do with them, either if they are guilty as well or they were behind the attack. We can only demand a new trial...My brother suffered physical abuse in prison but prosecution and the judge have ignored it. We feel he was not given a chance. Our calls to the government, the ministry of Justice... they were ignored. This feels like a nightmare to us".

Finally, Eya calls to churches, civil organizations, and even foreign governments to pressure Djabidjan's authorities some these concerns can be heard and Eya's brother's execution does not come before it is too late. It is t rue that, even considering the criticism that some human rights and independent legal organizations has expressed regarding the trial that sentenced her brother, these are serious claims which may be difficult to be believe. But it is a version that we feel that deserved to be heard.

Premier Hong Tae-woo attended the inauguration of Azavrelia 2022 Mundus Games in representation of Djabidjan's government. Hong praised the organization of the Mundus Games and declared to be hopeful about the chances of the Djabidjanian delegation, which will be the largest Djabidijani delegation in the history of the Mundus Games.

The day started with a good showing by Galbeyte Egal, as the young rider finished seventh in the Mundus Games Cycling Road Race, the best result for a Djabidjani cyclist in the history of the Mundus Games, and with a stronger disappointment as Djabidjan's football team, one of the favourites, lost against Rokkenjima by 3-2 in an evenly-matched match but in which unprovoked mistakes in defense proved to be decisive.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes that Premier Hong's visit,  along as giving encouragement to the Djabidjani delegation, will contribute to establish contact with other governments of the region to improve and strengthen the interests of the nation.

"It was not an easy start", Mbishei declared, "but I realized soon that I had chances if I did my best. I am very happy for this success after all the hard work. Thank you to everyone who has helped me to reach this".

Mbishe's bronze medal was the first for Djabidjan in cycling in the history of Mundus Games. She was not exactly between the favourites, as this was her first race outside Ardia.

The corpses of 11 students and two seminarians were found nearby Talgwon. The grisly discovered was announced yesterday, about three weeks after the young victims had been declared missing.

They were accidentally found by a local shepherd. The corpses had been partially burned although the cause of death was reported to be caused by gunfire.

Djabidjan's national parliament has passed a new law in which cooperation with criminal organization will be punished with 10 to 15 years in jail, a considerably increase in the current criminal code.

The legislation was passed by a 132-20 vote.

Some members of the opposition and human rights organizations have criticized that the wording of the legislation is too vague and it will likely weaken  rule of law and the right to defense.

However, the government has justified the reform as required to fight the increase in terrorism and organized crime in the last years.

Djabidjan's archery national team obtained a historical result in the Azavrelia 2022 Mundus Games, with five medals combined which increase Djabidjan's total number of medals in the Mundus Games to eight medals.

One gold medal, another silver medal, and three bronze have been the results of the Djabidjan's archery team so far. Park Eun-jae, 20, gave Djabidjan the first gold medal in these Mundus Games after winning the women's individual recurve, after defeating the Daitojin favourite archer. Neve Ferreiro, 25, iced the cake with a second medal, as she clearly defeated her rival from New Derusmia to obtain bronze. Both obtained a second medal, as they obtained bronze in Team Recurve.

Djabidjan's Ministry of Justice has announced that the death sentence against Burhaan Temitope (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2315.msg21140#msg21140) and other seven prisoners has been carried out in a prison in Balona.

There was not clemency and Temitope becomes the oldest person to be executed in Djabidjan since independence at the age of 81 years old.

Terrorist organization Iskaabin Aamin-ah has promised vengeance in the name of relatives of those executed today, including, Temitope, and claimed that Temitope so-called "road to political reform and dialogue" has proved to be closed road.

A controversy followed after pictures of the aftermatch of the execution were leaked to social media. A government spokesperson has simply commented that the government is satisfied that "justice has been served".

The Ministry of Justice has confirmed that new charges have been brought against three journalist from Heyra-based newspaper "Jinsulhan Sasil", after a judge from Jangju district has ruled there were evidence that they violated Djabidjan's law for cooperation with terrorism.

Two of the three accused were previously charged with liberal, cooperation with illegal organization and subversion against the state (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2314.msg23951#msg23951). The Ministry of Justice has announced that, as consequence, a new extradition warant has been introduced against the three suspects. Sources from the Ministry hope that, considering the more serious charges this time, Heyran authorities will cooperate with the issue warrant.

There has not been an official response from Heyran government so far.

A government spokesperson has confirmed that President Min Tae-joon will received a delegation from Djabidjan's Mundus Games team as they return from Mktvartvelo.

The Djabidjani team obtained a record of 13 medals (4 gold, 3 silver, and 6 bronze medals, respectively) in the Azavrelia 2022 Mundus Games, a record in the history of the Mundus Games. Despite some disappointing results, such as football, the Djabidjani athletes showed strong results particularly in disciplines such as cycling and archery.

The national parliament has passed a new legislation aimed to fight the spread of disinformation in both mass media and social media. The legislation aims to fight the spread of disinformation, unsourced rumours and "fake news" which may endanger the national security or social peace, as well as promoting social hatred or violence toward ethnic and religious groups. Under the new law, those guilty of those crimes could face a 5 to 10 jail sentence as well as having the voting rights suspended. The legislation will also introduce economic fees to registered media which repeatedly spreads disinformation.

Some opposition lawmakers and human rights associations have called the legislation a violation of constitutional guarantees and freedom of speech. However, the legislation was finally passed by a clear majority in the national parliament. It is expected that President Min Tae-joo will sign the law in the coming days.

DEK Yeoseong-Fanm rider Seo Hye-mi has consistently showed a strong performance in the Tour of Ardia (excluding the mountainous fourth stage), which was rewarded with winning two stages on the fifth and sixth stages. Both stages were the first professional wins for Seo, who had already showed a great performance in the Jangju Classic, one week ago, in which she finished second, and, earlier this season, a 6th place in the Meridiem Classic.

"They were two tough stages", Seo explained, "but we knew we had our chances if we moved at the right time. I'm particularly grateful to my teammates, as I couldn't have done it without them, particularly to [Jeon] Si-eun, whose presence was key to give me the chance to increase the gap".

"The whole team did well today", DEK Yeoseong-Fanm manager declared. "We know what [Seo] Hye-mi is able to do. She has always performed her role in the team perfectly, even if sometimes that goes unnoticed. But I was sure her chances were soon to come, as this kind of terrain suits her quite well. She was again the strongest rider in the group, and no one deserves the victory more than her. We are extremely happy for her and the team, of course".

After her second victory, Seo Hye-mi also took a clear, for now, advantage in the points classification, as well as a provisional lead in the Youth classification. On the other hand, DEK Yeoseong-Fanm lost the leader jersey, which they had been holding since the third stage as Han Ye-jin fell to the fifth place in the general classification. As the peloton prepares to enter the Ardian mountain chain, DEK Yeoseong-Fanm hopes to continue with this path of success.

A 7.2 Mw earthquake has strucked the Enteryè and Gogseon provinces in the Republic of Djabijdan this weekend. The epicenter was nearby the town of Marekaja, about 20 kilometres north of the town of Talgwon. It is estimated that the most catastrophic effects of the earthquake have affected about 300,000 people.

A considerable number of buildings were destroyed in Talgwon, and although official estimations have not been confirmed, local reports have estimated that a few thousand people had died or trapped under the rubble. However, it was smaller towns such as Marekaja, Plennsovaja, Mokpsang where the effects of the earthquake could be felt more deeply, as it is estimated that 90% of buildings in Marekaja, which hosts 21,637 inhabitants, have been destroyed, with similar numbers for the other two towns, as well important damage of other towns and villages in the Enteryè and Gogseon.

Local media has estimated that at least 5,000 people could have died, considering the high amount of damage suffered and slow response, and next days are expected to be critical. A number of people have fled the area, fearing more aftershocks or lack of security in their towns, although authorities have promised that special measures and aid will be immediately considered and implemented.

Djabidjan's government has announced that rescuing efforts have been started, although they may face some obstacles due to the destruction of infraestructure and roads in the area. A government spokesperson has confirmed that Yoo Sung-soo, Minister of Public Works and Transport, will coordinate the efforts and he is expected to visit the area during the coming days.

Floods in southern Djabidjan have had a devastating effect, displacing thousands of people in both rural and urban areas. Many were forced to leave their homes or towns, establishing in tents.

It is estimated that the floods may be affecting up to 500,000 people. Although no official estimations have been released yet, it is considered that the floods may leave 8,000-14,000 deaths.

With crops devastated by the floods, authorities have promised the increase the amount of aid sent to the region. However, local authorities are mostly concerned about the lack of public health facilities and water systems available, with increasing concern about the lack of drinking waters and waterborne diseases.

Djabidjan's government have assured that authorities are working hard, helping to deliver lifesaving medical supplies, food supplies, safe drinking water, and other basic goods, into the area.

The national government of Djabidjan has declared the state of emergency in five provinces, particularly those affected by recent natural disasters.

"Rescue efforts and government assistance have already saved thousands of lives", Minister Yoo Sung-soo assures, rejecting criticism against a slow government's response, "but access to the areas affected is sometimes complicated giving the destruction in infraestructures and roads". The minister also assured that temporary hospitals and learning centers are already been built in the area and nearby regions.

Meanwhile, it is expected that a new presidential decree will be announced in the coming days, establishing a fund which grant loans and aid to affected families and businesses.

Diep Dieu Do,  Minister of Finance, claimed that he does not believe that the economic situation will spread in other regions of the country, and that such inflation will be decreased as soon as government aid and special measures  are effectively introduced. Diep also announced that the government has increased the amount of government funds to import food and medical supplies, as well as a public-private partnership with Punha Trading Company for the distribution of goods and funds in the affected region.

The organizers of "Yeondae-Ede Initiative", established to provide both humanitarian aid and prepared food from private donations to areas recently affected in the current humanitarian crisis in southwestern Djabidjan, has announced that they plan to expand the operations. The initiative cooperates with government authorities for the distribution of humanitarian aid, as well as mobilizes thousands of volunteers for the establishment of "rice kitchens" across the affected regions. These mobile kitchens provide basic rations consisting of either a single rice soup, or 200 grams of a porridge made of rice and soybean paste.

The initiative was started for temporary camps and homes for those who were forced to flee or had their homes destroyed, but it is expected to be expanded to towns or areas affected by the destruction of roads or the increase of prices. The organizers hope to increase the capacities of these rice kitchens at the same time they increased their numbers, with facilities providing "survival pastry", as some of the volunteers call them, for those in more remote areas.

While the initiative was started by non-profit and private organizations, it has found cooperation and funding from the national government. The Saegohyang corporation has announced that it will donate more than 200 million Djabidjani Livra to the initiative.

"We have more than 200 active mobile kitchens, as well as other 150 to be soon", one of the organizers explained. "We hope to be able to expand it as much as it is needed, as long as we need enough resources to do so". Organizations from the Free Reformed Church and other religious organizations have promised to donate fund and volunteers for this initiative.

A number of journalist, including 10 journalists with foreign citizenship, have been arrested in several locations.

Authorities have confirmed that they would have been arrested for violations of public measures to assure the security and assistance of the population, and a proper legal procedure have started.

"Legality applies to everyone", Premier Hong Tae-woon has answered when asked about the news. "While freedom of the press is important and we respect and protect it, those measures were established for the protection of the population and to assure that security and assistance is provided for all those who need it the most".

"As always", Premier Hong declared when asked if the government will answer calls to release those detained in the last hours, "there can not be leniency for those who have broken or violated the law, independently of the circumstances. We respect the separation of powers, and there is no much we can do as the cases will be now in the hands of the courts".

Minister of Justice Benedita Akegliz, however, gave an open door for a quickler solution for those cases. "The proper legal procedure should be followed, of course", she declared. "But as long as they were not serious criminal activity involved, and there is enough good faith and cooperation with the authorties, we have legal tools to find a solution which assure our legal system does not face an unnecessary waste of resources in the current circumstances, when it is much needed".

Djabidjan's national government has announced an immediate closure of all borders permantently until further notice, after several locations in southwestern Djabidjan were attacked by armed gangs (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2654.msg25657#msg25657). As a consequence, all commercial flights have been cancelled, as well as entries to the country. The only exception will be border crossing for economic and trade activities, as well as humanitarian aid being sent and distributed to the country for the recent natural disasters. It is expected, however, that the distribution of the aid will be fully in the hands of the national armed forces.

President Min Tae-joon has also announced his intention that martial law is declared in eleven provinces until the safety of citizens can be fully assured by law enforcement and armed forces.

The president also promised that those behind the attack, "including their collaborators", will be harshly punished "no matter where they operate and where they hide". He also declared that the time of the attack was not a coincidence, aimed to hinder the relief and economic assistance of the government as well as the "prestige of the state".

Local organizations have criticized the situation in seven provinces in which the Ministry of Defense have imposed, besides a curfew, an "almost complete internet and communication shutdown", as consequence of the recently martial law approved by the National Assembly in eleven Djabidjani provinces, mostly affecting southern and eastern provinces.

They have criticized that such actions have also slowed down of local non-profit organizations which were actively involved in the distribution of aids to communities affected by the recent floodings as well as other who moved to nearby provinces, as well as deprived thousands of citizens of their only means of reaching loved ones or even access to funds provided by the government.

The restrictions have also limited internet connectivity elsewhere, imposing barriers to mobile services, which has led to a decrease of internet speeds, making it increasingly hard, for example, to share and watch videos or live picture broadcasts.

"This is likely to have an impact in both the well-being and the rights of the citizens, and we demand the authorities to consider such actions and ease the restrictions where it is possible", one representative from a non-profit organization based in the city of Nwapase has declared.

The restrictions, however, have not affected so far Djabidjan City and Jangju, the two largest cities in Djabidjan.

Human rights organizations based in Djabidjan have demanded an official investigation after pictures of the corpses of about 20 men were published online. Investigators believe that the site where the corpses were found is located nearby Bawumgyeon, following contacts with local activists.

Unlike earlier reporting, the corpses seem to be from inhabitants of the area, all of them male, and they were not fugitives or alleged members of a terrorist cell, as it was initially reported. Although the results of the autopsy remain undisclosed, international experts have argued that the victims were likely executed at a close range.

Local authorities have announced that an investigation has been already started, although local organizations have showed concern about the transparency of the investigation, as the county where Bawumgyeon is located is one of the provinces currently under martial law.

Civil organizations that the case is not unique, as last week it was found a mass grave of at least twelve people -reportedly wearing para-military uniforms- nearby a town close to the southwestern border. Human rights organizations have argued that recently declared martial law and imposed curfew makes them difficult to verify and receive trustworthy information about such cases, calling for both a transparent investigation and an improvement of the security in the restricted provinces.

Agriculture organizations have showed their concern about the logistical problem to distribute their products, combined with unprecedented losses as consequence of the recent natural disasters which have importantly affected some key southern towns.

The situation has caused an increase on the prices of basic products, as well as lack of basic food in the shelves of supermarkets in Jangju, Attalaxia, Balona, and other towns, as reported by local media. However, government sources have claimed that this situation is likely to be temporary, and there is no risk of any kind of permanent or serious food shortage.

Monetary authorities have also assured that current inflation is not likely to increase and it is expected to be solved as soon as trade is reestablished to usual levels.

Police authorities have confirmed the death of Enkoni Dénye, who had disappeared from his home nearby Djabidjan City. The body was found 3 km from the last place where he was seen before his disappearance.

Dènye, 51, was a former member of the Djabidjani Congress, a political party which is part of the ruling Djabidani People's Coalition. He served as local representative in Danjong fpr eñevem years. as well as serving in the Ministry of Agriculture from 2007 to 2012. He also served in the national parliament from 2012 to 2021.

Dênye, who left his official role in the Djabidjani Congress in late 2021, was not exactly known for his criticism of Djabidjan's government or for being close to the opposition. However, two weeks ago, during an interview with a foreign-based newspaper, he accused the government of "genocide by incompetence", addressing recent rumours about the increasing amount of deceased in some of the regions under martial law.

The government has insisted that such allegations are baseless fabrications, and calls for an independent parliamentary commission have been rejected.

A police spokesperson has declared that, while an investigation about the murder have just started, it is believed that either a settling of scores or organized crime were probably causes of the crime.

Authorities have warned about spreading misinformation and fake information about the current situation of the country through social media and private messaging.

The warning has been issued after an increasing number of messages about increasing mortality in some of the southwestern provinces, currently under martial law. While the government has confirmed that there were some recent epidemies in at least six different towns in the south which caused a number of deceased, they have declared that the situation is under control.

Government authorities have warned that some of the pictures spread on social media, and in some cases published in foreign-based media, allegedly depicting mass graves, removal of corpses and deprived citizens, were likely doctored and manipulated.

Opposition has demanded an investigation on those claims and reports, as well as regarding recent increasing of violence, including a recent riot nearby Gwangju that left 30 casualties.

Ethnic motivated riots have left at least 200 casualities, more than 500 people arrested, and important damages in Pwente, a small town in southwestern Djabidjan, according to an independent report.

Rumours that the Seojoson community in the town was amassing aid relief and basic goods in order to resell them, led to protests against the local authorities which soon escalated into a riots. Dozens of businesses and shops were attacked, as well as, in some cases, pedestrian and neighbors, particularly associated to the Seojoson and Kiet communities (the latter being related to rumours regarding of usury and benefiting from rising inflation). The agitators were identified as members of Maadaan organization, although the background of those arrested was informed to be diverse. It was reported that government buildings, as well as the local headquarters of the People's Democratic Party, resulting in the death of several employees.

The riots lasted for about 30 hours, until armed forces intervened and restored order. Witnesses reported that real rounds were shot, and a number of pedestrians were caught in the clashes. Those arrested are likely to face military courts rather than ordinary court, particularly as a curfew had been imposed in the province for 5 weeks.

The government reported that 24 personnel from law enforcement were killed during the riots. However, there has not been any official information how many people died during the riots and later intervention to restore order.

The events at Pwente has been the first ethnic motivated violence in Djabidjan, at least at a wider scale, since the failed 1981 coup d'etat. While the government has avoided to address the issue directly, a government spokesperson has warned that inciting social hatred will be punished harshly and without mercy.

A group of activists and independent scholars, in cooperation with the Asosyasyon Verite-Jinsil, have released the "Alam Dossier", gathering testimonies about the increasing humanitarian crisis experienced by a number of provinces in Djabidjan.

The dossier gathers testimonies, data from both official and independent sources, statistical analysis, and photographic evidence. The authors described their intention as "to offer information that is often either fragmented or supressed" by authorities, as well as to serve as to "call to action" to the authorities for a change of policy that is able to make a difference and save lives.

In their conclusion, the dossier concludes that the combination of natural disasters, food shortages, increased mortality caused by epidemy and malnutrion, and a failure of the distribution of aid relief, as well an increased of violence by government and non-state forces, have resulted in an unprecedented humanitarian crisis that has caused "at least an estimated 65,000-90,000 exceeded deaths". However, the authors of the authors have warned that, due to limitations on their part to gather information, as well as restrictions existing in certain areas due to imposed martial law and restricted communications the current number could be "even quite higher". One scholar based in Heyra, who was not part in the research but participated in the press release, warned that "I personally fear, based in other cases I have researched in the past, that number could double soon if proper measures are not introduced".

In their press release of the dossier in Heyra, graphic evidence seemed to shock the small audience. However, many of the pictures had previously spread on social media. In some cases, government sources or official media had argued that such evidence was doctored or unreliable.

The dossier warns that the most dire conditions are found in southwestern and central Djabidjan. The authors warn that the declaration of martial law and the restriction on movement established in several regions has probably worsened the situation, as well as having a negative impact on transparency and press freedom. One testimony also declares that the armed force would have used street and orphaned children to disposal and burial of the bodies of the deceased in at least two provinces. Another testimonies warned about the increase of missing people, with reports of both summary executions and increase in gang violence. The dossier also includes reports warning about the increasing mortality in overcrowded prisons due to the spread of several contagious diseases and malnutrition.

A spokesperson Asosyasyon Verite-Jinsil has also declared that at least 10 people who collaborated with the elaboration of the report have been arrested, while other three went missing.

Djabidjan's government has not responded about the allegations presented in the dossier. However, a government spokesperson have warned about "fabrications and distorsions...of those aimed to bring division ahd social hatred in the country".

11 government officials from the MCIH and Maadaan Association, two political parties which are part of the Djabidjan's ruling Djabidjani People's Coalition, have announced their immediate resignation, following disagreements regarding the management of the humanitarian crisis which still continues in several provinces in Southern Djabidjan.

The announcement came a week after a open letter signed by fifty members from Maadaan Association, in which they expressed their concern and criticism of certain aspect of the management of the crisis, calling for a policy change and calling the leadership of the political organization to address the situation. The eleven government officials that yesterday announced their decision were working in several ministries and state-owned companies and institutions.

Mr. Madhoye, who was elected to the national parliament as candidate of the Djabidjani People's Coalition, also announced his resignation from the MCIH political party. He later confirmed that he will leave the Djabijdani People's Coalition parliamentary group as well. Minister Abadir Barre (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2315.msg24252#msg24252), has called for unity, calling members to discuss differences through proper channels. It is not expected that this political crisis will have an important impact, at least for now, as the MCIH and the Maadaan Association only currently hold 2 and 1 seats in the national parliament, respectively.

The government has not officially responded to these announcements and criticism. However, a government spokesperson confirmed that the government officials were already replaced.

Police arrested more than 200 people after protests erupted in Jangju, Djabidjan's second largest city.

Protestors complained about food and communication shortages, limitations on movement as well as demanding the goverment more transparency and rumours that martial law could be soon imposed in cities like Jangju and Djabidjan City.

Police authorities gave an official estimation of 5,000 protestors, blaming demonstrators for the violence. The protestors were visibly joined by a large group of drivers, who complain that government restrictions on travel have caused an important loss in revenue for the sector.

President Min's government has finally proclaimed that the humanitarian crisis that started in Djabidjan, caused by two separate natural disasters and aggraviated by what could describe as structuctural failures, is over, as special measures regarding the management of distribution of basic goods and services and the restoration of communication and infraestructures have been successfully completed.

While the government announced that martial law and restrictions on movement will continue for "at least two weeks", in order, a government spokesperson confirmed, to avoid social chaos and assure the safety of the population from criminal activity. However, several local organizations have contradicted this rosy scenario described by the authorities, and that local authorities are facing still a complicated situation, due to the lack of resources and funds by many citizens and families, and hospital healthcare facilities which are deprived of resources and basic goods, overwhelmed by the increasing demand and patients facing important health complications with overcrowded facilities.

Baek Kang-gil, one of the founders of Asosyasyon Verite-Jinsil civil organization, went even beyond in an article published last week and co-written along a colleague from a demographic institute in Cescedia. Based in date from local sources, published reports, and their own statistical analysis, they estimated that up 135,000-180,000 people may have perished in this crisis, mostly due to lack of basic food and poor health conditions, declaring it the "second worse famine in the modern history of these lands". Their damning and gloomy estimations would clearly contradict the official estimation of just 10,000 exceeded deaths since the beginning of the crisis.

Baek Kang-gil, 49, former Professor of Social Economics in the National University of Djabidjan City, have insisted in his estimation despite the lack of information available due to the restriction by the local authorities, declaring that it is the authorities who must offer a clear explanations for their unrealistic estimations that defy any serious analysis, he insisted in a radio interview with a Heyran broadcaster. He was called the authorities to offer more transparency to the population about the situation, in order to avoid more deaths, which is likely to increase even if the problems in the distribution of assistance have been finally overcome due to the dire health conditions of many patients who may not be fully recovered. Professor Baek, who was forced to resign from his university position three weeks ago for his cooperation with the "Alam Dossier", which was declared by the university leadership as an "unethical violation of the professional code", has also insisted that he has not any political affiliation as some media had inaccurately reported.

Update (26/12/22): Another article published in "Jinsulhan Sasil" have reported that Professor Baek Kang-gil did not return home on Christmas' Eve and has been declared missing since then.

Archbishop Jo Sung-Min, highest Catholic authority in Djabidjan, was attacked in Djabidjan City after Christmas' Midnight Mass. The incident has been officially described as a terrorist attack, the first one since a failed armed insurgency was defeated in southern Djabidjan by the armed forces.

Archbishop Jo Sung-Min resulted unharmed, however, three people were directly wounded, while two other people died as consequence of a minor stampede nearby Djabidjan City cathedral as result of the attack. Only one of the wounded citizens remains in grave condition, while the rest, of those who demanded hospitalization, have already been discharged with minor injuries.

The identity of the assailant remains unknown, although it has been reported that he would be a 24 years old Djabidjani citizen without previous criminal records.

Catholic authorities have reported that the archbishop health was not affected by the attack although he is "severely saddened about the outcome of the incident". He is reported to return with his agenda before the end of the year.

While it has not been reported if the assailant acted alone or not, the Ministry of Home Affairs has confirmed that security will be tightened in both Djabidjan City and Jangju. It has also been reported that at least twenty people were arrested after the attack, although it is not clear if the suspects had any direct relation with the main suspect or the attack.

Djabidjan's national parliament has agreed to declare an official resolution which would authorize President Min to declare a nationwide martial law for thirty days, in order to assure the safety of the population, following the attack against Archbishop Jo Sung-Min last week.

The resolution was passed by a clear majority, 119 of 155 MPs voted for the resolution, although a slightly lower majority than expected.

The martial law was already effective in a number of provinces. However, the new resolution would authorize the government to impose it in the rest of the country, including Djabidjan City, capital city of the Republic of Djabidjan.

Community, social, and local leaders from the Maadaan ethnic group have denounced the Djabidjani government and their armed forces participation in what they have described "an undoubtedly planned genocide against our people, through aggravated and poorly assisted famine, deprivation of basic goods and resources, violence, and denial of aid". They argued such claims in accordance to the controversial "Alam Dossier", testimonies from local witnesses, and photographic evidence.

Their conference was made through a streaming website. The organizers complained that they had to suspend their planned press conference for the announcement, the first one for restrictions regarding the imposed martial law and on internet access and the second for fear of intervention of the authorities. They demanded the government to allow an independent investigation to allow who may be the culprit behind the crisis.

They did not offer any new estimation about the total number of deaths or direct evidence (such as leaked documents), but they argued that the facts speak for themselves, such as the most affected regions are those inhabited by a large number of ethic Maadaan. In some villages and regions, one of the speakers assured, up to 40-60% of the victims were identified as member of the Maadaan ethnic group and other minorities.

Between the speakers, Bedeley Samatar, former mayor of Lagudilay as independent candidate endorsed by Maadaan Association, also de manded Catholic authorities to involve politically to find a solution to this problem so those behind could be brought to justice.

The announcement has increased pressure on Abadir Barre, leader of the MCIH, main Maadaan political party in the ruling Djabidjani People's Coalition. However, the national government, through a spokesperson and Premier Hong himself have denied the claims, insisting in the last official estimation of just 20,000 exceeded deaths during the humanitarian crisis, describing the mentioned claims as "misinformation and defamatory".

The national leadership of the Djabidjani People's Coalition, the ruling coalition in Djabidjan since 1983, has announced they will hold an "extraordinary unity congress", in which member parties and ordinary militants will discuss the future of the coalition. According to a spokesperson of the coalition, this proposal comes after "increasing demands by the people and civic organization toward a higher level of political union and social integration". However, it does not seem a coincidence that the move comes after repeating comments from President Min Tae-joon in interviews and speeches calling for political decentralization at the government and legislative levels.

All political parties which are part of the coalition, with the only exception of the Maadaan Association, has confirmed that they will sent their representatives to the congress, which they have described which will "hopeful witness a constructive and democratic willness to improve our joint movement toward national greatness and unity", according to the words of a representative from the National Reform Party. However, judging the leaked documents and the own official titles of the conferences for the coalition itself, such words seem to be nothing more than either wishful thinking or a will to keep their seats at the government by the minor members of the coalition, as it seems rather obvious that the only purpose of this extraordinary congress is path a direct road toward a transformation of the coalition into an united and centralized political party.

Either this is achieved through an integration of the smallest parties into Min's People's Democratic Party, or rather into a new political organization, it will be probably rather quite irrelevant, giving the lack of courage showed so far by the leaders of these political organization, during both our recent political crisis and this new political initiative.

Even if the coalition was barely a pseudo-democratic facade of the control of one party of the state institutions for all these years, it will be still a worrying step toward a more centralized state control and an elimination of all -even the most symbolical and theatrical- inner dissent in the structures of the state. Sadly, President Min has decided to take our nation toward a path from which we should have never returned, and turn back our nation toward a future -about to become present- of Djabidjan as a nation under a one-party state once again.

Djabidjani athletes have obtained another outstanding success, this time of unprecedented and historical dimensions, in the Winter Games, after finishing third between all nations which participated in the event, ending with a total of 22 medals, eleven of them gold medals.

As last year, Djabidjan proved to be a superpower in snowboarding, obtaining seven medals, with Ku Hye-kyung becoming the first Djabidjani athlete to win three medals in the history of Winter Games, as she won in the Halfpipe category. The Djabidjan team also showed a great performance in bobsleigh and luge, obtaining four and three medals, respectively, in these categories.

The athletes are expected to be received by President Min as they return to Djabidjan.

Fidèl Vitès showed a superb performance winning the Albrektberg Classic, obtaining his first win this season. The Djabidjani rider was active since the first kilometres of the race, as he joined the breakaway and made his decisive attack on the last hill before entering Albrektberg for a second time. While favoured by lack of cooperation in the main room, he rode unstoppable increasing his lead with the indecision of his main chasers.

He had a relatively comfortable final kilometres, as he finished with a final lead over two minutes, although Vitês confessed after crossing the finish that he was too concentrated to avoid any mistake to think about he was going to achieve. "After entering in the city, I knew that the victory was on my legs, but I was a quite tough day. But I did my best and I'm so proud and happy about this result. The victory was particularly important as his team, AABL, is based in the city where the race is held.

Certainly the most important victory in his professional career, and the second one after joining the Juglander cycling team in 2021. Vitês already showed a great form earlier this season in Achkaerin, as he finished sixth in Midvale-Artaxia Classic.

Another Djabidjani rider,  Galbeyte Egal, completed the podium, as he finished third after leaving behind the main group.

Vitès hopes to continue his great form in his next race, the St James Classic held in Achkaerin. "It will be an even tougher race", Vitès confessed, "but I hope to do my best, either fighting for the win or helping my teammates".

The Djabidjani People's Coalition, the ruling political coalition in Djabidjan, held the First Congress of National Unity, as it was officially named, in which all the political parties which formed the Djabidjani People's Coalition, including President Min Tae-joon's People's Democratic Party, with the only absense of the Maadaan Association. More than two thousand representatives and delegates gathered in one of the main hotels of Djabidjan City, to decide their political future. About twenty-nine delegates were members of organizations outside the coalition invited by the organizers of the congress.

The event was officially inagurated by Antar Lawal, who chaired the congress, followed by a speech by President Min Tae-joon himself. About ten hours later, after a round of speeches and deliberations by leading members of the coalition, 1,781 delegates voted in favour of the main resolution in advancing toward political unification of the organizations that currently formed the Djabidjani People's Coalition. The result was not exactly a surprise, as more than half of the delegates of the congress were believed to be members of the People's Democratic Party.

The resolution established that the coalition would agree to establish a centralized political organization which "combines both the wish of the people toward more national unity and respect to diverse reality of our nation...moving toward an united and unique path, as guided by an only will and goal while respecting the diversity of our people". Another resolution agreed to establish and decide the name of the new political party: the National People's Party of Djabidjan.

For many, despite the change of name (it was rumoured that the new party was going to be named as "United People's Democratic Party"), the move felt more as an absortion by the People's Democratic Party than a true merger by equal political parties. After all, the structure of the new organization resembles quite considerably to the same of the People's Democratic Party, with a Central Executive Committee as highest authority in the party, and a National Council in charge of the national sub-committees established. The main novelty will the creation of a "National Secretariat" in charge of coordinating relations between both bodies, as well as the establishment of ethnic quotas for the Central Executive Committee.

In case there was any doubt, the congress elected, almost by unanimity, President Min Tae-joon as first Chairman of the National People's Party, the highest-ranking position in the new political party. Kontan Mesajè, current Minister of the Presidency, and a member of the United Progress Party, was elected as General Secretary.

While there were some voices openly opposing the new political reality, both inside and outside the congress, by both some prominent members of the minor members of the coalition and even some founding members of the People's Democratic Party, they resulted to be in the minority.

It is not clear, at least for the moment, if the merger would imply important changes in the government's policy or its composition.

Our office was shocked as everyone else when news that Wan Hyo-rin was arrested in Djabidjan.

While her name may not be familiar to even our most loyal readers, she has played an active role in our newsroom for the last eight years. Indeed, as she often declared in our offices, she may not be a skilled writer, but she took an important role in some of the most important reports ever published by our newspaper, such as the interview with a witness of the Namgung theatre case (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2314.msg23694#msg23694), an article about the inner divisions in the exiled political opposition, or our most recent dossier about linguistic and ethnic barriers inside Djabidjani communities abroad.

Wan was currently on a break, as she was about to participate in two prominent Conferences of Journalists held in two Albion countries. When we were communicated the first notice about her sudden disappearance we were as concerned as anyone, and we did our best to contact her relatives and contacts. While we hoped for the best, we could have not imagined what would happen. After checking our sources and Wan's colleagues during her travel, we have concluded that it was not possible that she travelled to Djabidjan on her own accord.

We consider this situation, which can only be described as an unlawful act of flight piracy, an attack against us, the Jinsulhan Sasil newspaper, and freedom of the press in general. As a consequence, we welcome any declaration of solidarity and demand her immediate release from Djabidjan's authorities.

The Catholic Church is likely facing one of its more deep, both religious and political, crisis since Djabidjan obtained its independence, commentators and scholars seem to agree.

A bishop and a number of priests have reportedly leaving the church in the last weeks. Catholic authorities have declared that this last cases were as consequence of different factors, and it has not affect the capabilities and services that the church provides to believers, which have remained, according to the Church, unaffected. In some parishes, however, according to local reports, large number of believers have stopped attending their churches. In some cases, there have been an unusual conversion to other denominations, such as the Free Reformed Church or more minority religions such as the so-called Falashite Church.

While the causes are complex, experts agree, the situation is mostly focused in communities where the Maadaan ethnic group, both in larger cities and in the southern provinces. In some cases, there is evidence that such conversions or abandon of their faith was motivated by religious or theological motivations. However, it is likely that there were ultimately caused by more important social issues. "A new generation of community leaders", argues Professor Lanre Toyin, "along recent demographic changes, as well as the more recent political and humanitarian crises have probably led to shaken many communities and affected their relation with the local church".

The crisis has likely political causes as well, other experts have agreed. As many local community leaders have increasingly blamed the government for actions against the interests of the Maadaan community, many have seen the national leadership of the Catholic Church as too accommodating and accomplice with their own oppression. "While the damage may be already done", former MP Maaga Ahfkhafiif argues, "without a change in the leadership and attitude of the Church, the crisis is likely to continue".

Twazyèm Machann Kadè, CEO of Punha Trading Company, has announced his resignation, after he was charged with several crimes by Djabidjan City's first High Court.

Kadè's charges include financial offenses, embezzlement, conspiration for market manipulation and bribery. Along Kadè, other nine Punha Trading Company employees were arrested and charged with similar crimes.

Punha Trading Company is considered the second largest company, and its business include banking, mining, textile, and retail sectors. A former financial analyst at Djabidjanian Bank, Kadè was a member of Punha Trading Company's board of directors since 2011, becoming CEO last year. His indictment has come two days after Punha Trading Company's headquarters were registered by police authorities.

Djabidjani authorities have argued that Kadè and his associated using their priviledge position in a public-private partnership to distribute goods and aids relief during the recent humanitarian crisis in the country to organize a hidden system of speculative hoarding which led to a consequent rise in prices of basic goods, which favoured the company's interests, according to the Djabijdani authorities. They also argued that such illegal actions contributed greatly to obstruct of distribution of basic goods and aid reliefs and prolonged the length of the crisis and increased its effects.

A Punha Trading Company spokesperson has declared that the company has initiated an internal and independent audit, and that they have offered their cooperation with the judiciary authorities. However, it is expected that a tough time may come for the company, as the announcement of Kadè's indictment has already had a negative impact on the company stocks in Djabidjan City stock market index, as the shares fell a 20%, the worst in twenty years.

Djabidjan's Ministry of Home Affairs has suspended the activities of the "Faithful Community of the First Christianity", more popularly know as the "Falashite Church", a minority religious movement which has been labelled as a "dangerous and destructive cult". As a consequence, the buildings of the organizations will be closed, and their assets confiscated by the authorities. It is expected that the leadership may face criminal charges.

The Ministry of Home Affairs argues that the religious organization is being involved in criminal activity such as extortion, fraud, violation of the privacy, brainwashing, and unlicensed practicing of medicine.

The so-called Falashite Church, who was established in the 16th century, is estimated to have about 10,000 members in Djabidjan, although the real number is difficult to estimate, particularly since the recent humanitarian crisis that impacted the country months ago. Most of the members of the community are found in southern Djabidjan, mostly between the Maadaan ethnic group. It is not the first time that the community has been involved in controversy, as they have been often marginalized by other Christian churches in the country, particularly for their rejection of both the New Testament and the Doctrine of the Trinity, as well as the claim that most members in the Maadaan community are actually descendants from a tribe in Vanora.

More recently, the community has gained the attention of the local population and interest of state authorities, as their activity has increased, particularly since a new leadership was announced, following the death of the person who had headed the church in the last three decades. The new Falashite leader, a man known as "Patriarch Suleymaan", has allegedly announced that it has been recently revealed that the world is already in the first stages of a period previous to the final messianic era, according to their holy scriptures.

Civil rights organization has warned that there are concerned that members of the religious community may face criminal prosecution and legal punishment, something they have described as a dangerous precedent, while authorities have insisted that their aim is to protect them from an illegal organization involved in criminal activity and avoid they and their families are exposed to harmful behavior.

Djabidjan's national government has given authorization to the development of mining activity in Bélbagay, southwestern Djabidjan. The place has been found to have the largest nickel deposits in the country.

However, the announcement has also found some criticism, as the area involves two natural parks. Environmental activists have argued that the mining explotaition would pose a serious threat to the survival of these natural spaces, with a lasting negative impact in the fauna and flora of the region. They fear that the mining will also include air pollution and damage the communities in the region, due to water contamination and destruction of habitat.

Local indigenous communities have also opposed the development, arguing that it will destroy their way of life and make the area inhabitable. However, the government argues that the new economic activity will be the source of an important development which will improve the economy and employment of both the local population and the national economy as a whole.

Journalist Wan Hyo-rin was sentenced to a 40 years in prison by Djabidjan City second High Court. It is the largest prison sentence for a journalist in Djabidjan since the end of the Social Republic of Djabidjan in 1979.

Wan was a journalist for Jinsulhan Sasil, a Korean-language newspaper published in exile. The court found Wan guilty in several charges, including conspiracy with enemies of the state, cooperation with criminal organization, collecting and spreading state secrets that compromise national security, and failure and rejection to cooperate with authorities regarding terrorist and criminal activity. The court also argued that Wan was part of a cabal which spread misinformation aimed to damage Djabidjan's public standing and national security.

Wan Hyo-rin's legal team appealed that her detention was illegal but this appeal was rejected. Only a Supreme Court appeal is left to Wan, who rejected the charges and pledge innocent during the trial.

Human rights associations have criticized the sentence, arguing that it sets a dangerous precendent for media freedom.

Chin Joo-hwan has been announced as new CEO of Punha Trading Company. The announcement came in the middle of the corruption probe against former executive employees of the company (including the former CEO, Twazyèm Machann Kadè (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2314.msg26844#msg26844).

Chin Joo-hwan has only been a member of the company boards of directors until the last month. Previously, he held several executive positions in Djabidjanian Bank, the largest commercial bank based in Djabidjan, as well as serving in Djabijdan's central bank. It is hoped that Chin's appointment would ease the company's legal challenge in courts and stabilize the standing of the company.

Chin will face a complicate situation as Punha Trading Company experiences a transitory period, but internal sources in the company has shown confidence that Mr. Chin may be the right person to do so. Last week, Saegohyang industrial conglomerate acquired 25% of the shares of the company, which is believed to have contributed in Chin's appointment as CEO.

Punha Trading Company is involved in banking, textile, mining, and retail sectors. The government remains confident that the current legal troubles and change in leadership is not going to have a deep impact in the national economy, which is under a slow recovery.

"There are no doubts about the future of this company", Chin Joo-hwan has declared in his first intervention as CEO of Punha Trading Company. "We can only be optimist and look toward the future. After today [company's meeting], we are prepared to bring more initiatives and investment required to create more jobs and chances for our customers and shareholders". Chin has declared that he is also confident that the current legal cases would not impose a financial burden for the company. "We are prepared to both cooperate with the authorities to the full extent and to defend the name of our company, which brings prosperity to thousands of employees and millions of costumers, at the same time", he argued.

A leaked document from the Ministry of State Security seems to have backed the claim of a policy of family separation for members of the so-called controversial Falashite Church under custody, even in cases when no official charges were brought against those detained.

The activities of the Falashite Church were suspended, after the religious organization was banned (https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=2314.msg26844#msg26844) for dangerous and illegal practices, according to the authorities. A number of members of the organization, including most of its leadership, has been arrested since then and being charged with serious crimes. Another members of the organization has been detained for anti-social behavior, and brought to state facilities such as centres for Personal Surveillance and Social Integration, aims to rehabilitate citizens under the influence of criminal gangs, extremist or terrorist organizations but who may not be directly charged with crimes but still pose a threat to society and national security.

It is unclear how many Falashite citizens have been detained and brought to such detention facilities, as the authorities do not publish any official data about it. However, the leaked documents seem to corroborate the existence of official guidelines to separate children from their parents after or during the latter were sent to the state facilities and, at least according to one of the documents leaked, sent to state orphanages or other similar facilities for children, without approval or communication with their parents or close relatives.

Claims of family separation in these state centers are not new, although only for children who were born in these centers, with only a few documented cases. Human rights organizations have argued that his policy would be a violation of the parental rights as well as the rights of the children, and called to both the authorities and the courts to bring and end to this practice, which they have argued it can only be unlawful and unconstitutional. Local civic rights organizations have also argued that such policy shall be considered a form of ethnic discrimination, calling to and end, as most members of the Falashite Church are believed to belong to the Maadaan ethnic group.

Minister of Justice Benedita Aklegliz has openly denied the existence of such general policy, as the administration of those centers are not directly under the authority of the Ministry of State Security, and assuring the more than reasonable doubts, in her view, of the genuineness of those leaked documents. She did not openly denied that separation of children from families could have occurred, howwer, arguing that in some cases authorities have the need and duty to protect the interests and rights of the children when a family can not provide or it may be harmful to them, but assuring that such decision would be always according to the law and decided case by case.

Opposition lawmakers have called for law enforcement officials to testify in parliament in order to bring light to such claims, but the parliamentary majority have rejected such proposals.

Twenty-three clergymen from the so-called Falashite Church, which was recently banned by the Republic of Djabidjan, are facing charges including incitement of ethnic hatred, participation in illegal organization, and conspiracy against the public security. If they were found guilty, they could be facing sentences from 5 to 20 years in jail.

The trial is expected to take place next month in Djabidjan City.

Some human rights organization have argued that the trial sets a dangerous precedent regarding freedom in religion in Djabidjan. However, the Ministry of Justice has argued it is not religious doctrine or ideology which will be judged, but their acts in violation to the law as members of an organization.

In either case, it will be the first time than members of the clergy will be on the beanch for crimes committed in their religious activities since the demise of the Social Republic of Djabidjan.

Businessman Kaung Htet Myat was found dead in his home in Jangju. Myat, 56, was the CEO of Vwa Mopsoli, a large publishing house in Djabidjan which publishes books in several languages.

The publishing house was founded by his father, Nyein Myat, in 1991. Before that, the Myat family gained wealth and prominence by another publishing company, MoDanEun, which he established in 1980. The company obtained the government to license to publish textbooks and experienced a quite fast growth. MoDanEun expanded in a holding which acquired and founded several publishing houses, bookshops, newspapers, and even a television company. The senior Myat came from a family of military officers, and he had joined the Djabidjani Revolutionary Party, the ruling party under the Social Republic of Djabidjan, as a teenager, and obtained a job in the Ministry of Education. This did not stop him to have ties with some members of President Hahn Geun's administration, and he later funded the ruling People's Democratic Party in several electoral campaigns, particularly after 1988.

After Nyein Myat died in 2007, the business group experienced a tough years, and Kaung Htet Myat, who had succeeded his father, was forced to sell MoDanEun to DEK Corporation. A decade later, he was only able to retain Vwa Mopsoli. Still, the company was able to prosper, although with a more limited success, and it was well-known for publishing best-sellers of foreign authors, and biographies and memoirs.

Myat's life, however, found a sudden end last Friday midnight, when his neighbors were alerted of noises coming from his house, a detached house nearby an upper class area in the city of Jangju. When police arrived, they could only certify his death. Myat was found dead in his living room with three gunshots, one on the neck, another in his chest and a third one in his head.

While it was speculated earlier that it could be a case of deadly burglary, the police authorities have finally discarded this hyphothesis and ruled his death as a suicide.

With Myat's death, it is unclear if his company, who had become a personal project for him, according to friends, will survive. The most prominent and wealthy member of the Nayhtu minority in Djabidjan, while he gained a reputation of eclectic and lively personality, his unexpected death may have become the final chapter in the history of a family saga which had gained prominence in Djabidjan's most exclusive circles.

Djabidjan's rugby national team obtained their second win in the history of the world cup after defeating incumbent champions East Moreland 21 to 18.

It was the first win against top team for the Djabidjani rugby team. The win came after two disappointing losses but even if the team did not advance to the new round, the match left a positive impact in the national team participation.

"Our team keeps advancing, step by step", Djabidjan's national coach declared. "It is a long way to think about higher aims but we have proven that we can face and win the best teams".

The Ministry of Home Affairs has confirmed the kidnapping of Shin Yong-Nam, hours after a small terrorist group announced that he former President of the Republic of Djabidjan was "arrested under their custody" in their announcement.

There have been contradictory rumours about Shin's situation, after police was witnessed around his home in Djabidjan City two days ago. Police authorities have not given information regarding if the former President could have been taken somewhere in Djabidjan City or rather outside the capital city.

Shin, 65, served as Deputy Premier and Minister before briefly serving as Speaker of the national parliament in 2021 before being elected as President of the Republic in 2022, replacing late President Kwon Sang-jun. However, his tenure as head of state was not too long, as he was forced to resign following accusations of sexual misconduct. Since then, he had not involved in politics and, according to acquaintances, lived a quietly life in his family residence.

However, he reached to an end earlier this week, when he was allegedly assaulted in the parking garage of a clinic in the capital city. It has been reported that he had been declared missing that midnight, but it was not announced to avoid that such information could obstruct the investigation.

A terrorist group known as "Union of Revolutionary Combatants" has reclaim the action, and they have officially issue five demands to the national authorities, including the release of some prisoners and the abolition of internment centers. However, the national government has denied any intention to negotiate with criminals. If negotiations are not started and their conditions are not met, they have warned that the former President will face what they have described as an "extraordinary revolutionary tribunal in the name of the people of Djabidjan". In these circumstances, it is feared for the safety of the former president if he was not liberated in the coming days.

Despite the dimension of the ongoing crime, the terror group was rather unknown in the country, and it was only accused in involvement in sabotage actions and two robberies. It is the first time a former member of the national parliament or cabinet has been kidnapped by a terrorist group in our nation. Police authorities do not seem to believe that the perpetrators have a background or experience in terror activity in the past, which they believe that makes the outcome of the situation as uncertain as hopeful. Premier Hong has declared that three ministries and all law enforcement are cooperating and working together to bring a quick but safe resolution to the situation.

President Min has declared that there will not "be mercy for criminals and terrorists. I have ordered to use all means to end this criminal act".

We have the honour and pleasure, despite the theme of the main topics discussed, with Professor Tsisana Oniani, who currently teaches in the University of Albrektberg.

Mrs. Oniani, who graduated in the University of Azavrelia in Economic Science, was previously taught in the University of Khashumi. In 2021, he joined the University of Albrektberg as Professor in Politics and Development. She has recently published her second book, "Political Economy of Disaster: A Case Study of Djabidjan", in which she analyses what some call the recent humanitarian crisis.

Our nation is not alien to Professor Oniani, who visited the country for first time when she was preparing her master's degree. "It was a nice experience", she tells us, "even if I was too busy to have time to see anything else". She visited our country more recently, in 2019, when she participated in a conference about migration and development organized by the National University of Djabidjan City. "It was nothing special", she described, "but interesting from a scholarly point of view". Oniani clarifies that she is not expert on our country in particular or Northern Ardia in general. "My research has been focused on the impact of aid relief and economic policy on development", she explains, "and this sad circumstances gave the chance to evaluate some of the things I have been investigating in the context of a natural disaster".

She has published two academic papers on issues related to the natural disasters and consequent humanitarian crisis that Djabidjan experienced, the first about the effects of the flooding and the second a comparative analysis in   relation to the relationship between infraestructures and government policy between two regions in Djabidjan. She explains us that she is well aware that her first article received harsh criticism in media in Djabidjan, particularly in some newspapers and politicians. "The second article had barely any impact, I must admit", she says, "I hadn't received much feedback even from scholars on my field". However, she felt that her recent research, combined with her knowledge of the sources and the region helped to her chance to offer a contribution to the issue.

For this book, she explains, she used both official date from the government and local authorities and different methods of research, including date from internal displacement, labour statistics, numbers of refugees and recent migration, as well as data from media and local research. "I'm not either an activist or a historian", she clarifies. While she has also used data provided by human rights organization and political organizations, she has avoided to rely on testimonies as much as possible. "My intention was to offer a few analysis and collection of sources which contributes to understand the causes and effects of this situation".

In her book, she gave an estimation of 125,000-195,000 people deceased during the recent humanitarian crisis, most of them related to the famine and related deaths which spread mostly in southern and western Djabidjan. These numbers would contrast with those official numbers offered by the national government, which established that only 8,000 people who had died as consequence of the famine and related deaths. "I feel that difficult to believe", Oniani established. Contrary to some have argued before, however, she does not seem to believe that the decision by Djabidjan's government decision to temporary close the nation's borders, due to a sudden national security crisis, which reduced the reception of aid, had a considerably impact on the effects on the crisis. "It was not an issue of lack of food", she explains, "the dimension of the crisis and its effects would be rather found in the failure in the organization and distribution of aid and basic goods, both by policy and, obviously, the destruction of infrastructures around the most affected regions".

"It needs to be said that this is a scholarly work, not a political one", she says, when asked about the role of the authorities may have had in relieving or worsening the effect and consequences of the crisis, which some activists have even described as a genocide or act of war. "It is not my role to decide who is to blame, but to understand the causes", she explains. "I should say, that this was, sadly a preventable tragedy, which was worsened by both political and economical decisions by both state and private actors. I hope my study contributes to give a first contribution for a better understanding in order to prevent such situations in the country, both in the region and across the globe".

It is not our role to judge academic research, indeed, but we certainly hope that Mrs. Oniani's study contributes to give light to the horrible tragedy experienced for thousands in this country, and serves as a first step toward to demand accountability for those who may be responsible, either by action or omission, of the consequences of this disaster, more human than natural.

Former Speaker and President of the Republic of Djabidjan Shin Yong-Nam was killed nearby Djabidjan City, police authorities announced.

After a special operation aimed to rescue him, Shin's body was found, lifeless, as consequence of being shot dead by wo gunshots a close range, authorities revealed. The body was found in a storage facility nearby a industrial estate in Bugdjajibang district, where police suspected that the terrorists could be hiding. After a gunfire between the terrorists and the special operation forces, in which five terrorists resulted dead while two officers were wounded, the body of the deceased politician was found.

It is unclear if Shin was murdered in execution style as the terrorist threatened, or he was murdered as soon as the operation and shooting started. However, authorities has informed that he was declared dead the moment he was found, and nothing could be done to save his life. Another two terrorists, who had escaped from the scene before the arrival of the authorities, were also killed in their attempt to run away, a few kilometres from the place. It is unclear if the group had more members or accomplices. Police authorities have informed they have launched an investigation to find any possible suspect who may have assisted the terrorists, and called for the help of citizens who may be able to give any information.

Djabidjan's government has offered condolences to Shin Yong-Nam's family, despite Mr. Shin did not leave office in the most graceful terms.

President Min has condemned this ignominious murder and promised that terrorists "will be crushed without mercy and will not find anywhere to hide from the power of justice".

Police authorities have confirmed that sixteen suspects in Jangju were detained in connection with some of the deceased terrorists.

It is not clear if the terror group under Shin's kidnap and murder, the "Union of Revolutionary Combatants", had previous connections with other terrorist or political groups in the country. It is believed that some of the killed suspects were previously militants of fringe leftist and nationalist political forces. Police authorities are currently investigating if the terrorists had any connection with Maadaanic terrorist organizations such as Iskaabin Aamin-ah. It has been reported that at least one of the suspects was an ethnic Maadaan, but it is unclear if such connection has been proven or not. Authorities have called for calm and assure that the terrorists and their accomplices will be punished.
