It wouldn't be particularly long before Henrietta's exploration yielded results; after very little wandering she'd come upon a man who very obviously wasn't a servant or anything of the sort. He was a young man, seemingly atound the same age as Ælirn, and his clothes were silken and ornate and he had a long, ornate ivory pipe in one hand, which was unlit and didn't appear to have been recently extinguished either. He was gazing out one of the windows along the hallway, but upon noticedng Henrietta he smiled and made his way over to introduce himself, brushing a lock of auburn hair out of his eyes.

"So, one of the foreign delegates here for the enthronement I assume?" he says, giving a polite and respectful nod, "Prince Allan xy Thælyrn, at your service. To who do I have the pleasure of speaking to?"

------

It wouldn't be difficult for Lydia and Kayleigh to find the gardens, as it made up a fairly significant portion of the isle that the palace was located on. There was a great many servants about, making certain everything was in pristine condition, whom the pair would noticed was mostly men if they bothered to pay attention. None of them bothered the women in anyway; in fact most of them would ignore the two of them entirely without even a polite node. The garden itself was expansive, with many small structures and paths laid all throughout the web of trees and numerous blooming flowers. And luckily for them, there was an area specifically dedicated to sparring although the pair of them were unaware of the specifics. It was mostly empty aside from a few gardeners going about their business and a woman reading a book underneath a nearby orchid tree. She would notice Lydia Kayleigh, but she simply waved to them and took no action to move closer to the pair.

By now Yxa and Aaxa had made their way into the dormitory, half-busy looking for a room and half-busy chatting with one another. That was when Yxa noticed Amulius as he stood there chatting with his siblings, and they immediately piqued her interest. Aaxa just shook her head as she followed her sister towards the trio; in truth she had hoped they'd just find a room of their own. Of course, she hadn't honestly thought that was likely but one is always allowed to hope.

"Xitaar!" Yxa said, smiling friendlily at the three of them, "I don't suppose you happen to still be looking for some roommates?"

"Aaxa," said Aaxa, walking up behind her twin.

"Oh, sorry!" Yxa chuckled, then gestured to herself, "Yxa."

Faith and Religion

The faith of the people of Xæth is one typical known as Phæxism, from 'Phæx' which approximately translates to 'Way' in regards to native Xæthoons describing their faith as the Ways to properly honour and worship their deities to early foreign contacts. It is a polytheistic faith believing in numerous deities, chief among them being the Goddess of the Sun: Syranoosh. Syranoosh is believed to be the mother of both mankind and the various Gods and Goddesses of Mundus. The Xæthoons do not reject the religious beliefs of non-Phæxists and instead very much do believe in the existence of the numerous other religions of Mundus. However, they believe that all foreign deities are children of Syranoosh or corrupted versions of the Sun Goddess herself. And in fact Phæxism is a religion not accepting of conversion, as it is believed that people should not abandon their people's Gods for those of another; the exception to the non-acceptance of conversion are those with Xæthoon ancestry who do not follow the Ways and wish to rejoin the faith of their ancestors. All non-Xæthoon peoples and deities are believed to be the children of Syranoosh and one or more of her eight husbands: the Gods of the Moon, one associated with each of the moon's phases. The people and deities of Xæth, however, are believed to be the favoured children of Syranoosh who were born of her womb without any need for congress with her husbands. It is for this reason Xæthoons sometimes refer to themselves as the Children of the Virgin Sun.

In the earliest days of Xæthoon civilization, Phæxism did not truly exist as it does today. Prior to their settling in Xæth the ancestors of the Xæthoon people were illiterate and passed stories of their gods and legends through word of mouth. While the tribes worshiped much of the same major deities, there was a great variance in the legends of the Gods themselves and how one worshiped them; in that time not all Xæthoons could even agree on something as simple as their creation myth. This changed with the unification of Xæth into the Empire it remains today. Starting around the 15th century they was a move to consolidate and standardize the faith of the Xæthoon people, based around the beliefs of the Jiloolan people who dominated Thælyrn. Throughout the years there would be a slow codification of the land's religious beliefs through a series of Councils consisting of priests from all over the Empire and presided over by the Empress.

According to the traditional accepted Phæxist creation myth in the beginning of the universe there was nothing but Vy and Mool. The two are considered the primordial Gods, Vy being the Goddess of the Sky and Mool being her husband the God of the Earth. The pair existed for an indeterminate period of time alone in the void, until the two began to have children. Their children were almost without number, each one being one of the numerous celestial bodies in the sky. The most important of these, as said before, are considered to be Syranoosh and her husbands as they are the primogenitors of all humanity.

Gods and Goddesses

Syranoosh: The Goddess of the Sun, Syranoosh is worshiped and revered across the whole of Xæth. She is traditional viewed as a matronly and merciful figure, who is filled with little but boundless love and compassion for her children. But, like a proper mother, she is believed to be strict and punish those who stray who hopes that they will find their way back to the proper path.

Allaxara: The Goddess of Law, Allaxara is believed to have been the firstborn of the Xæthoon deities and was the leader of all their siblings. She is believed to have brought the concepts of law and order to the Xæthoon, ruling over their with a firm but fair hand. Upon her ascension from Mundus she is believed to have left the tribes of the Xæthoons in the hands of her numerous demi-god daughters, from whom every family of the Old Nobility claims descent from.

Hylla: The Goddess of Fertility and Beauty, Hylla is traditionally depicted as a heavily pregnant woman often surrounded by her many husbands. She is the patron and protector of pregnant women, as well as often being associated with the rains and good harvests.

Ivaan: The God of Festivities, he is believed to have taught the people of Xæth the secrets to brewing alcohol as well as being associated with harvest rites alongside his wife Hylla.

Yra: The Goddess of Civilization, while her sister Allaxara brought law and order to the Xæthoon it was Yra who taught them how to be civilized. Through her various children, she taught the Xæthoon people how to write, to build, and to forge. Everything that was needed to separate humans from beasts.

Lyr and Lær: The God and Goddess of War, it is thanks to them that the Xæthoon learned to defend themselves. Lyr is the Goddess of Strategy while her husband Lær is the God of Strength; they are considered to be two halves of a greater whole as without strength even the greatest of strategies will fail while without strategy ones strength is wasted and turned aside by ones enemies.

Rin: The God of Death and Judgement, Rin is believed to judge the souls of those who die by their actions in life. Those who are judged worthy are allowed spend the rest of eternity within the boundless love of Syranoosh, while those who fail are returned to Mundus to be reincarnated and given another chance at life. The exception being the most terrible of souls, who are believed to destroyed utterly.

"It is a pleasure to meet you Vice President," Ælirn said, forcing herself to put on a smile for the Communist, "We are Ælirn xy Thælyrn, Empress of Xæth."

Then she gestured to her Aunt beside her, "And this is our Aunt, Lady Kallax xy Ool; Xæth's Minister of Technology."

Pasternak received a polite nod from Kallax, but nothing more. Neither of them were particularly happy to be in this situation; one being a monarch and the other an avowed capitalist neither felt particularly sympathetic to Kaitaine's "republic" or particularly inclined to engage with the man before them. However, it would be rude to simply walk away and Ælirn was not about to let her first international appearance as Empress go south so quickly.

"We were invited by King David to attend at my recent enthronement, and it would have been rude of us to refuse," Ælirn said carefully, "But no, we are not here for anything in particular; if we are to be honest everything presented at the expo is immensely fascinating."

To: Carl Argent, Minister for Trade and Investment

A thousand greetings from Xæth, Minister Argent. We here at Haxa Steel would be most interested in the partial acquisition of Euirasian Steel, Aluminium & Alloys (ESAA), in particular that which is related to steel and other ferrous alloys. Haxa Steel, a subsidairy of the Haxa Group founded in 1910, is the largest private steel company in all of Xæth with a long tradition of producing cheap and high-quality iron and steel and products constructed from such. With over a century of experience and success, we believe we will be more than able to assist in your nation's modernisation program. We feel that our acquisition of ESAA assets would prove to be an arrangement mutually beneficial for both our corporation and your government. We eagerly await your response.

Sincerely;

Alaxa Ooran, CEO of Haxa Steel

Empress Ælirn stood staring at the entrance to Grand Showroom, watching as people made their way inside, and swallowed nervously. This was her first ever international appearance as the Most Serene and Celestial Empress, and she was worried about, well, about literally everything. She'd spent a portion of her time since her enthronement looking forward to this event, but as it inched closer the more nervous she became. She was starting to feel sick to her stomach, and the scarification on her stomach still being sore and healing certainly didn't help things along. Then she felt a reassuring hand on her should and she looked over into the face of Kallax xy Ool, her Minister of Technology and, more importantly, her Aunt. She simply gave Ælirn a reassuring smile and gestured to the door with her head, "Come on."

The Empress swallowed and nodded, making her way into the Grand Showroom. She took an orange juice whilst her Aunt took a Bucks Fizz, and the Empress figured it best to meet and talk with the King himself; it was his personal invitation that brought her here after all. The pair of them were likely to stand out quite a bit, as they were dressed in traditional wear more native to Xæth. The Empress was dressed in a long sapphire dress embroidered with intricate golden designs and bedecked with jewelry, from a gem-encrusted headchain to the golden necklace to the numerous rings and armlets and bracelets on her arms. Meanwhile Kallax, an older woman with bright grey streaking through her wavy, dirty-blonde hair, was dressed in a loose, wrapped dress that bared her midriff and while she wore less jewelry than her niece her arms still held numerous bangles and bejeweled slave-bracelet on each hand. As the pair made their way around looking for King David, Ælirn managed to hide how nervous and self-conscious she felt being her while Kallax cheerfully soaked in the atmosphere.

Empress Appoints New Cabinet Ministers

Following the enthronement of Her Imperial Majesty Ælirn XIX xy Thælyrn as the Most Serene and Celestial Empress in Jiloola, she has made quick work of setting up her own governing cabinet. In a move unsurprising to some and shocking to others, nearly the entirety of the Cabinet has been replaced from that of Ælirn's mother. One of the few exceptions being Crown Princess Llyri, who will continue to serve as Xæth's Prime Minister. The choices have drawn a small measure of criticism from more conservative elements of Xæth, as many of the chosen Ministers are in favour of a more international course for Xæthoon foreign policy. Queen Tæ of Ilanry is quoted as having said, "I have said my oaths and owe my absolute and unwavering loyalty to my Empress, and I would die before betraying my word. I merely hope that the Empress remembers that we do not wish others to meddle in our affairs, and that we should afford the other nations of Mundus that same courtesy". There was a minor backlash in regards to the appointment of our new Minister of Technology. There were those who worried about potential conflicts of interest regarding Kallax xy Ool's status as Founder and CEO of Xæthoon tech giant Phaaza. However, within hours the Kallax announced she would be stepping down as CEO in order to assume her station as her niece's Minister. The newly appointed Ministers are expected to begin their work within the week, after being given a full briefing by their predecessors.

Administrative Divisions

The Four Queendoms
The four Queendoms refer to the four major administrative divisions of mainland Xæth, which prior to the unification of them Empire were the four major Queendoms of lowland Xæth. They are, in order from east to west, Ynith, Thælyrn, Oova, and Maashirn. The earliest form Xæth took was more akin to a 4-way personal union than a proper, centralized state and as such the various Queendoms, while united, retained a higher degree of autonomy. And when the Empire proper was consolidated, for ease of administration the Queendoms were kept as the basic administrative unit of the new state. A state of affairs that has continued into the modern day. They are the largest of the administrative divisions on the mainland, and are further divided into regions, which are subdivided into prefectures, and then further divided into individual towns, villages, and cities depending on the population of the settlement. These are all governed by their own officials and legislatures, which are all elected by the citizens who are permanent residents. Though they are referred to as 'Queendoms' since the unification it has been the Empress who holds the royal title of each Queendom.

The Mountain Queendoms
The Mountain Queendoms is a colloquial term used to refer to the dozens of smaller administrative divisions located throughout the highlands of northern Xæth. Tracing their origins to the numerous independent and sovereign Queens who were subjugated, violently or otherwise, by the Empresses they have remained separate from the Four Queendoms to their south. This is in large part due to the various treaties and agreements of the past which result in most of the Mountain Queendoms still having actual Queens, though there are those who no longer due (typically due to the extinction of the royal house or treason). Though they are all figureheads in this day and age, the titles still hold a fair bit of prestige in Xæth as the only citizens allowed to hold royal titles and stylings aside from the Empress herself. The Mountain Queendoms are usually so small that the only division below them is that of individual population centers, however there are some who retain intermediate levels of division, typically as a result of old traditions. Much like the rest of Xæth the areas are actually administrated by elected officials and legislatures.

Jalyl and Maryrn
Although the origins of Xæth's two territories off of the mainland are differ, they are typically grouped together as they are administrated much in the same way. The High Queendom of Jalyl was an island kingdom, ruled by Xæthoon monarchs who traced their origins to pirates and adventurers who settled on the shores of the island from the mainland. It was brought into the Empire through marriage and conquest, with the Celestial Empress holding the title of High Queen to this day. Maryrn, on the other hand, is often considered Xæth's only 'proper' colony, only being under Xæthoon dominion for a scant few centuries and until recently administered separately from the nation as a whole. While both hold democratic elections for their legislatures and many of the important government officials, to this day both are still governed by Vicereines appointed directly by the Empress. On Jalyl this is a holdover from the individual appointed to rule in her name as High Queen whilst the Empress herself remained on the mainland, while in Maryrn the position holds its origin with the Colonial Governors who ruled prior to the area's ascension to a proper part of Xæth.

Diplomacy and Events / Re: Invitation to a New Empress' Enthronement
« on: December 10, 2018, 02:45:02 PM »
At Henrietta's apology for her monarch's absence, Ælirn simply smiled and waved it off, "Oh, it's no trouble. Monarchs have obligations of their own; to be perfectly honest I did not expect as many to show up here personally as did. And I would be absolutely honoured to attend the expo; I believe my Aunt Kallax would be very interested to attend as well." And when offered the book as gift Ælirn gingerly took it from Henrietta, carefully turning the pages as she slowly looked through the book, "I will have to thank King David at the Expo; it is a lovely gift. I look forward to having a chance to read it."

Young Ælirn wasn't entirely certain of what to make of the Cabbagelandiet leader; she knew of the nation and of how backwards and strange it was, of course. But knowing and seeing are two very different things; and that wasn't even getting into the woman metaphorically hanging off of him. But Ælirn was nothing if not polite, and when Brassicus introduced himself he received a respectful nod in return. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Grand Preacher," she said, as a servant approached and took the wodden box for her, "And thank you for the gift; I am sure they will be a... lovely addition to the garden."

When Orion offered his hand, Ælirn simply stared at it for a few moments before looking up and smiling apologetically. "I'm sorry, but there are certain, uh, purification rituals and such before the enthronement, like..."

"The Crown Princess is not permitted to come into physical contact with any man for 24 hours before her enthronement as Empress," Llyri interjected, explaining much more succinctly than Ælirn would have.

The Crown Princess nodded her head, "Yes, that." And as a servant took the offered gift, "And I thank you for such a gift; I am sure it will taste lovely."

As Beatrice made her way forward and spoke Ælirn was truly glad she had taken the time to visit her mother, as otherwise she would've likely had a rather undignified reaction to Beatrice's mention of her passing. Ælirn takes the piece of paper, her eyes still growing wet, "I truly appreciate this, your Majesty. Although my mother is still a wonderful listener." She stuffs Beatrice's number into her pocket, as she is offered the bottle of mead. "This is a lovely gift, and I am sure it tastes just as lovely," Ælirn smiles rather gingerly, "It's a pity I don't drink." Then as Beatrice continued Ælirn face grew steadily more red and flustered, when she finished Ælirn stammered out a respond, "I, uh, I... Thank you this is all very appreciated."

By the time Peter was introduced she had already regained much of her composure; though it was unfortunate that the colour had yet to drain from her face. "I would love to visit Achkaerin," she smiled, "And despite my Empire's lovely climate, I am not necessarily a complete stranger to the cold." Her gaze turned northwards to the great mountains that, while many miles away, could still be easily seen.

After the various delegations were introduced and they made their greeting and presented their gifts, regent Llyri stepped forward once more. "Now everyone, if you would please," she gestures and a number of servants step forward, "You will be shown to your rooms in the guest wing, and once you have settled in you will be shown to throne room where there will be refreshments, entertainment, and a proper place for socialization."

"And afterwards, I would be more than happy to have private conversations with each of you," Ælirn says, "It will be nice to get to know all of you."

As the delgegations would make their way inside, Ælirn and Llyri spoke in hushed tones in their native tongue. "You're doing wonderfully, Ælirn," said Llyri, her voice noticeably softer than when she was addressing the foreign delegates.

"Please kill me before it's over," Ælirn said, "Most of them seem lovely enough, but I feel like I'm going to be violently ill."

"It's just nerves."

"I am aware Aunt; doesn't make the feeling any less real," the soon-to-be-Empress sighs, "Well at least with the fasting I won't have to eat anything."

Llyri smiles as she puts a hand on her niece's shoulder, "I am sure you will do wonderfully. You are one of the sweetest, strongest women I know."

Ælirn sighs again, "Yeah, I know. And if I'm to be Empress I'll have to deal with it eventually."

"It gets easier," Llyri says, comforting her, "It gets much easier."

------
The rooms the visitors are shown to are extravagantly decorated, with those delegations with more than a single person who are not couple being given enough rooms. There are enough rooms that no delegation need be directly adjacent to another, and even so any potentially issues are kept away from one another; Brassicus and Alys' room is on the opposite side of the guest wing as Empress Beatrice's, for example. There are servants to unpack anything the visitors may have brought with them, leaving them free to get a look at their opulent surroundings or prepare for the coming event. Whatever strikes their fancy.

The Imperial Government

The Executive Branch
The head of Xaeth's executive branch is the Prime Minister, who is a direct appointee of the Empress and serves until their death, retirement, or firing. They are the ones who appoint the various members of the Cabinet, however the Empress has a direct say in the matter and can reject any appointment she wishes for any reason she wishes. Officially the Prime Minster holds much of the actual power, however the Empress has the explicit right to fire a Prime Minister at will and so one who faisl to rule as their monarch wishes will be quickly replaced.

The Legislative Branch
The legislature of Xæth is bicameral and divided into 2 houses: the National Assembly and the Council Most Eminent. The two houses are equally important in the legislative process, and no laws are able to be passed without the assent of both houses, though the two are given some unique powers that the other does not have. The National Assembly is a body made up of 300 members, with seats being distributed across the various Regions and Territories based upon population and then elected into power via proportional representation. The Council Most Eminent is a body made up of 144 members, all members of the nobility, with 48 of the seats being inherited positions and the remaining 96 being appointed by the Empress herself. The Council Most Eminent is not able to introduce legislation, and its main duty in the legislative process is the acceptance of laws or the modifying of them to be sent back to the National Assembly. Despite the legislature being bicameral it has 3 parts, with the third part being the Empress herself without whose assent no law can be passed in the Council Most Eminent.

The Judicial Branch
The Apex Court is the highest court in the entirety of Xaeth and serves several purposes. It consists of 12 Justices, all of whom are appointed directly by, and serve at the whim of, the Empress herself. The Apex Court serves as the highest court of appeal for the whole of the nation, and while they (and many appellate courts below them) have the right to discretionary review the Empress can bypass said right and force them to accept a case if she so wishes. And while the Apex Court does have the right to judicial review, and it is in fact a power that has been used in the past, said cases are never brought up against the Empress.

The Empress
The Most Serene and Celestial Empress of Xaeth stands both apart from and above the rest of the government. While the basic powers of the Empress are limited in some ways, typically being the right of appointment and Imperial Assent to the passing of laws, the constitution of Xæth grants her the Right of Imperial Edict. The Imperial Edict is an official statement made by the Empress herself which holds more weight than any law or ruling, and can only be overturned with another Imperial Edict. And most importantly, an Imperial Edict has no limitations to what it cane decide. It essentially grants the Empress absolute authority when they should desire to use it.

The various delegations would all be taken to their own separate cars, which would all follow the lead car, ridden by Princess Llyri, on a path throughout the city. Traffic was, for the most part, not much of an issue as steps had been taken to make sure there was no delays. Though there was a great deal of foot traffic throughout the city, many stopping to stare at the procession however not for very long. The cars' windows were tinted and while the occupants could clearly see out, even pedestrians who knew what they were watching didn't have anything to stop and gawk at. However the drive would take a little over 45 minutes; under normal circumstances it would be shorter but it was decided that perhaps the nation's foreign visitors should be taken on a more 'scenic' route throughout the city. The soon-to-be-Empress and her Aunt had both agreed that perhaps their guests should see some of the sights of Jiloola, at the very least those not too far out of the way.

While these would include natural sights, such as the great waterfall that came rushing over the cliff that bisected much of the city itself, most of them were of a more artificial nature. Such as the tremendous bas-relief further along the cliff face depicting a great woman, ornately dressed and holding a serpent in one hand and a long blade in the other, her head framed by a great sun, with six smaller male figures arranged in a circle around her, each having their head framed by one of the phases of the moon. Or the Temple of the Sun, the complex's great ziggurat seen only from a distance on account of the hundreds of people assembled for a religious ceremony. But after the temple, the cars would make there way onto the route directly to the Imperial Palace. It was completely empty of cars as it had been shut down for preparations, with many decorations already but many places still in the process of being adorned, with suns and snakes predominating in the motifs. There were also hundreds of people camping out along the side of the road, with the Empress making the procession from the Temple to the Palace tomorrow there were those who wished to acquire as best a view of the procession as possible.

But it would not be long before the guests arrived at the Imperial Palace, not a mere building but a great complex atop an island in the river that cut through Jiloola. The cars made their way across the bridge, slowly inching upwards to the Palace proper, a grand building located atop a hill in the center of the island. There was a large statue in the courtyard of the palace, again of a woman with her head framed by a sun and with a snake and blade, though this depiction was sitting and the blade lie in her lap. And standing before the statue was a group of individuals, most of them very obviously guards. But one of them being a young woman, short and with a rather plain face framed by a pair of black glasses and dark auburn hair cut to her chin. However, she was dressed in ornate silks and jewelry and when all the guests would have made their way out of the car, Prince Llyri would bow and ontroduce her.

"Our distinguished guests, allow me to introduce her Imperial Highness Crown Princess Ælirn xy Thælyrn. Soon to be the Most Serene and Celestial Empress of Xæth."

"Oooh, this place is amazing," Yxa said in Xaethoon, grinning as she looked out over the city as the airship made it's way to the University, "Seriously, look at it Aaxa!"

"I am, Yxa," said the identical woman next to her, "And it doesn't hold a candle to Jiloola."

Yxa rolled her eyes, "Well, duh. It's still beautiful. I'm sure you'll love living here!"

"Staying."

"What?"

"Staying here. My actual home is back in Jiloola," Aaxa clarifies before turning her attention to her phone. Yxa sighs and takes her phone out as well, though she takes pictures and videos of the city's skyline.

------

The pair of them followed along with the tour, even Aaxa beginning to look interested in the campus though she'd vehemently deny it. "Now, we have to find a pair of roommates!" Yxa declared with a smile, and began searching the crowd for anyone interesting looking who didn't seem to have already been taken. The two of them have rather stereotypically Xaethoon looks, shorter than average with light brown skin and light hair. Their hair, dirty blonde in the twins' case, is tied up in a long braid that reaches down to their chests and the pair are both wearing long, draped dresses decorated with intricate patterns.

"Do we really need roommates?" Aaxa said with a grimmace, "We're fine with just the two of us, aren't we?"

"Yeah, but where's the fun in going to school in a foreign country if you don't make any foreign friends?"

"Fuck foreigners."

"Maybe I will," Yxa says happily, still in Xaethoon, to which her sister shoots her a dirty look. "Oh it was a joke, lighten up!" Yxa says, playfully giving Aaxa a push as she stays on the lookout for any interesting exchange students.

"I would not worry about it too much," Llyri said, smiling politely to King Lapu, "Xæthoon is not the simplest of languages. I am sure you will get a better grasp on it with little trouble."

She also took careful note of the interaction between Beatrice and the Cabbagelandetian party; she was of course aware of there being potential... complications with those individuals assembled. But Llyri wasn't particularly worried however, as she trusted them to be well-behaved. After all, foreigners they may be but they weren't complete savages. And besides, they'd made arrangements to minimize any contact they may have. Then Prime Minster Quinn made her introduction, to which the Regent listened intently.

"Oh, you do not need to worry about any potential slights. If I am to be truthful, we were somewhat surprised by the number of Heads of State who were willing to make the trip personally," Lyri says, taking the proffered envelope, "And I am sure my niece would be more than happy to make a personal visit to East Moreland. And you may present the gift once we arrive at the Imperial Palace."

"Speaking of which," she says, then raises her voice to speak to all those assembled, "While I am sure you are all eager to stretch your legs after your undoubtedly long flights, if you would follow me we have cars ready to take you all to the Imperial Palace. The Empress is very eager to meet all of you."

As far as the locals were concerned it was a lovely day in Jiloolaa; the rainstorms of the past few days had finally stopped and one could both the sun burning in the sky and the mountains looming to the north of the city although the humidity was, still, relatively high. The delegates would also notice that security was exceptionally tight; one could scarcely lookin any direction without seeing guards watching. From within the building itself the Regent of Xæth, Llyri xy Thælyrn, watched as each of the planes descended in turn and their occupants disembarked. They're like crocodiles, she thought, striding outside and making her way towards the assembled dignitaries, And Ælirn is the calf who wandered into the river shallows. The Regent's expression, however, changes from her mistrustful glare to a polite smile before she reached the Empress' guests.

"Xitaar," Llyri says politely as she arrives, she gives a respectful nod to them, "It is a pleasure to meet all of you, I am Princess Llyri xy Thælyrn. Xæth's Regent, until tomorrow at least." The Regent is a woman approaching her forties, short and slender, with the beginning of creases on the light brown skin of her face, a very visible streak of silver in her otherwise auburn hair, and a pair of piercing grey eyes behind her glasses which are presently making their way over everyone present.

The Beginning of a New Era

It has been nearly a month since the untimely death of our dearly beloved Empress Yphaa, meaning that the month of state mourning has nearly run its course. Yphaa xy Thælyrn drifted from this world at a mere 41 years old, victim of long-outstanding medical problems only a scant few weeks after the death of her most cherished Consort. In the interim month her sister and Prime Minister, Llyri xy Thælyrn, has headed the government as Regent. But a Regency cannot last forever, and Llyri only rules from the Imperial until her niece is enthroned as the Most Serene and Celestial Empress. And such a time is now. Once the mourning period has ended, Crown Princess Ælirn xy Thælyrn, will be officially enthroned upon the Radiant Throne and take her rightful place as Xæth's ruler.

The ceremony is to begin the morning of November 2*, with prestigious and well-respected guests from all over Xæth in attendance. However, Crown Princess Ælirn herself has publicly announced that she desires to invite foreign dignitaries from states all over the world to attend the enthronement. The Crown Princess claims this is the first step in correcting the laxity in Xæthoon diplomacy during her mother's reign. While Regent Llyri has made no public comment on her niece's announcement, it is unlikely that she would refuse a public request of the soon-to-be-Empress. This would make it the first time since the enthronement of Crown Princess Ælirn's great-grandmother 69 years ago that foreign dignitaries will be present for the ceremony. Regardless, the entirety of the country is looking forward to the new Empress' ascension as the beginning of a new era for Xæth.
