The Vaguzian Civil war 1982-1985 OOC
« on: January 28, 2019, 04:45:28 PM »

It is the year 1982, the Communist Party wins the elections in Saburi on the 23rd of February, a day later the Communist Government of Saburi calls out the People's Republic of Saburi, the Vaguzian Government tries to arrest the leader of the Commnunist Party but get stopped by more than 700,000 protesters who are celebrating the Communist state of Saburi. On the 26th of February the Vaguzian Government sends the military to Saburi to control the situation, but the protesters keep ground and Saburi changes into a war zone, this also triggers more communist uprisings in other Southern cities like Poletygesus and Livofati which brings the revolution very close to Vallis, now the military has also been split up by the revolution so now the communists are also armed to the teeth. The Vaguzian Civil War is a fact.

So i was wondering which role you see your country having in this war, and for the moment i am not gonna do a RP with this yet, so i just wanna know the roles for now.

Based on some preliminary thoughts; Sinsic government at the time would've definitely sided with the Vaguzian government, which was considered more 'legitimate' in their Eyes, though would've otherwise kept itself directly outside the war. Sinsu could've joined the fighting if the communists targeted the embassy and killed everyone there who were stuck and didn't manage to evacuate in time, including the Ambassador, and effectively declared war on the Republic? One could then develop that further and include a hostage situation + negotation where the Communist rebels demanded that some of their jailed comrades in Krimeon would be set free with a plane and cash, to which the Sinsic would've refused etc.

If this somehow wouldn't work, Sinsu as mentioned would've sided with the Vaguzian government in any case, providing monetary support and allowing volunteers to fight in the war, for example. I'm open to any suggestions as well.

As far as I know, during that time the Cold war was still going on in Mundus and Tamora did it’s best to remain isolationist and not rock the boat.

However, if the Vaguzian communists had an anti-religious and anti-clerical stance (like Republicans during the Spanish civil war) then some Tamorans could serve as volunteers against the communists (similar to the Lincoln battalion in the Spanish Civil war) in a separate battalion if the Vaguzian government would allow it. If that’s the case the Tamoran battalion would have had a peak of a thousand men. The men would have had military background (Tamora has conscription and very liberal laws on gun ownership). They obviously wouldn’t have been a force that would have affected the outcome of the war but depending on your plans and how the war went, they could have committed atrocities against the communists (with or without the tacit approval of the Vaguzian government) and then after the finalization of the war, the Vaguzian government could have made them the scapegoats for most of the atrocities committed during the war.

Xæth might have very well sent over some military volunteers and equipment to those fighting against the Communists. The Empress in 1982 wasn't as non-interventionist as her successors, and had something of a vehement and abiding hatred for communists on account of them having brutally murdered her mother several decades prior. Like Tamora it probably wouldn't be enough to make or break anything, and they honestly probably would've committed atrocities as well. The Xæthoons willing to travel to a foreign country for the explicit purpose of fighting Communists likely wouldn't be the most merciful of sorts after all.
