Mundus Games 2022 - OOC/Sign Up

Mundus Games 2022

It's that time of year again- our version of the Olympic Games is back for its Ninth outing, as always there have been a few minor tweaks to the event list with some new events added, I'm also once again foregoing group stages in various competitions to simplify things. Bidding information is included in this post for anyone interested in hosting, if no one bids for hosting then you're all coming to Valtheim.

Bidding information

The bidding process requires nations wishing to host to submit requested information, what information is dependent on the event in question. There will be a deadline set for bid submissions in the case of the Mundus Games this is the 6th of July any bids entered after that date will not be considered unless the vote has not opened. As you can probably guess from that sentence once bidding closes there will be a vote conducted. By vote this will be in the form of a post in this topic and the format of that vote will be explained at the time as it depends on the number of bids received.

So with that in mind the following is the criteria for Mundus Games Bids:
  • A list of venues for the events- you are expected to include the capacity of these venues and the athletics stadium must have a minimum capacity of 80,000 (please make sure to include which events are going where)
  • Name of the Main TV Rights Holder (For example EMTV)
  • Plans for the Athletes Village (just an image will do with a brief explanation)
  • Importantly a written letter signed by a ranking member of your government stating a) that they will provide safe venues and protective services for all athletes and staff no matter which nation they hail from. (No refusing entry to a nation or holding people prisoner because you don't get along in RP with their nation) and b) explaining the legacy of the games in your nation (what will the venues be used for afterwards, will there be a focus on the next generation of athletes? etc) This is the selling aspect of the bid

Everyone is advised that the last bullet point is quite important as it involves something akin to the Olympic Truce.

Also as the controller of the Mundus Games Committee (our IOC) I reserve the right to refuse a bid should there be a legitimate IC reason to do so, e.g we wouldn't be having this in a country in the middle of a civil war. I would like to remind everyone that if they believe there to be a legitimate IC reason to question a bid they may do so icly, just please do it in a separate thread.

As a word of advice to any prospective bidder do bear in mind that you will require multiple stadia for events such as football and cricket. And please check that every event is covered.

As usual competing nations will have the opportunity to choose disciplines to specialize in that is those headings in YELLOW, you are permitted three specialisms. You may also suggest the addition of an event if you wish but please remember these are the summer games (so no snowboarding). Also this is just the event list I have not yet worked out the schedule.

Finally I am not simply assuming everyone competes in everything but I am instead letting you determine which events you enter however please note that some events have a set number of people involved and some have a minimum number, these are generally team events and are indicated. Also please remember when determining your team size what the size of your nation is and how sporty they are.

Sign Up Information

Again this year we're using google sheets to create the Database as far as I understand it I believe you should be able to add in your athlete information without needing to sign into a google account, if for whatever reason you can't add yours in post it below and I'll get it added. I have already put Achkaerin's information in there to give people an idea of when numbers are entered and when yes/no isn't. If you aren't entering an event please enter either a zero or no into the cell or leave the cell blank.

Also remember to include your nations three specialist disciplines in the sign up post you do.

Can I from the view point of a sports fan please point something out that happens every games. We get huge spam lists of people entering everything with 3 or 4 athletes. That is very rare. Usually qualification for Olympics sees each nation permitted to enter anyone who can qualify for the time. For the 2020 games that was 10.05 secs for the 100m for men. There are also caps. Keep in mind you only get to send ELITE athletes unless they pull a fluke like Eric the eel.

To the Mundus Sports Community,

I hope that our previous introduction has helped introduce you to the Kingdom of Clysperis and our world-class Khemnen-Setri Games Park. Undoubtedly you'll be receiving more letters and gestures to secure your support for hosting the Summer Games and, while I'm certain they shall make a compelling case as to why they would be the perfect hosts I thought I would do things somewhat different. That is why I took some time earlier this year to speak with you and show you why Khemnen-Setri is the best site for the upcoming games. Also, at present, an invitation has been extended for you all to join us for a personal inspection of the facilities as well as an opportunity for relaxation and recreation in the City of Dreams.

Two years ago, the world came to Midaranye for the Mundus Games, yet unlike most years we did not see the usual unifying spirit accompany them. Nations protested the games, athletes from some lost the opportunity of a lifetime and many would agree that clouds did indeed loom over those Games. I believe that, once again, the world should look to Midaranye to host the Summer Games, to showcase not only the rich and vibrant history of Midaranye but also its bright and promising future. The Kingdom thus wishes to welcome Mundus to the cities of Setri and Khemnen where, against the backdrop of the Pyramids of Nafu and the Great Sphinx, monuments of a proud past, and the City of Setri, this generation's great monument, the finest athletes from all nations may compete.

Clysperis is a nation with a deep passion for sports and competition. Should the Summer Games come to the Kingdom a new generation of Clysperi athletes will be inspired that, even in Clysperis, Mundus can come together to tear down all which may have divided us to gather as #OneMundus. For years Clysperis has been an outsider, it has been seen as a nation on the wrong side of history, neither of which are true any longer. I hope that Mundus will allow Clysperis an opportunity to re-introduce ourselves, to eliminate the barriers which have existed between the Kingdom and the world, to realize together this new era.

In between the cities of Setri and Khemnen I directed the Royal Clysperi Armed Corps of Engineers to overhaul and revitalize what was once a Soviet sports park. Designed with eyes to the future the Park mirrors the development of Setri as a miniature “smart city” which sips energy and adjusts based on the present energy consumption needs. Recycled and reclaimed resources have been utilized in its reconstruction, realizing savings in waste as well. Athletes, trainers and officials will enjoy a truly remarkable experience in the Park’s Athletic Village which, following the conclusion of the games, will be utilized as affordable housing for the descendants and victims of the institutions of servitude.

This effort has transformed the remnants of our occupation into a testament of the Clysperi will to evolve and renew herself, and I am thus pleased to present to the international community the Khemnen-Setri Games Park.  Should the Clysperi bid be accepted CSMC are prepared to be the Main TV Rights Holders.

Khemnen-Setri Games Park

Accommodations for athletes, trainers and other Games officials.

The New Century Stadium, with a capacity of 90,000, has received a grand overhaul from its former architecture typical of Soviet planning. LED lights sip power provided by the forward-looking Setri power grid, a city which has been designed to be smart and harmonious with the environment around it. If selected as the hosts for the Summer Games the New Century Stadium will be utilized for the opening and closing ceremonies, football and rugby events finals events.

In addition to New Century Stadium the Kingdom is utilizing the facilities of Nafu Stadium, Valley Ridge Stadium, the Tri City Stadium and the Ramses V Stadium (below) to host football matches. Not pictured are two facilities within the Khemnen Metropolitan Region, keeping the Games within reach of the cultural heart of the Kingdom of Clysperis with access for guests to a variety of shops, accommodations and lodging options. As I suggest to anyone who has yet to visit Clysperis taking some time out of your day to visit the Pyramids of Nafu has always proven to be an experience with few parallels. The newly restored Great Sphinx will also be revealed during the Games, a moment the Kingdom has been working toward thanks to a collective effort of local and foreign donors to see it returned to its former glory following a disfigurement during the Soviet occupation.

With a capacity of 82,000 athletics and field events will take place in Khemnen International Stadium. While outside of the Games Park Clysperis will be utilizing a fleet of electric and renewable vehicles to transport athletes to and from events at the Khemnen International Stadium, furthering our commitment to an environmentally harmonious Mundus Games.

Khemnen-Setri Aquatics Centre

Featuring a Games Standards swimming pool, a diving pool featuring 1, 3, 5, and 10 meter high jumping tower, training pool, a social building and open and covered amphitheaters the Khemnen-Setri Aquatics Centre will be utilized for swimming and diving. The Centre also features youth pools and will be used to inspire our next generation of athletes as they begin their own careers once the Summer Games have concluded. [Capacity: 16,000.]

The river Ḥ'pī will host rowing events. The Ḥ'pī represents in many ways the vital artery of Clysperi civilization, providing for our needs in what would otherwise be a desert lacking the variety of vegetation we see in the Ḥ'pī valley. The banks of the Ḥ'pī provide ample opportunities for spectators to view the Games, which will be utilized for sailing and rowing.

Turning our eyes back to Khemnen we've chosen the Khemnen Sports Complex for gymnastics and boxing events. This modern Complex provides ample data connections to ensure those sharing their experiences at the Games can keep in touch with their loved ones, and favourite social media platforms. [Capacity: 30,000]

Likewise the Khemnen Exhibition Centre will be used for fencing, which many in the city are especially looking forward to. Other portions of the KEC will be utilized for chess as well. [Capacity: 10,000]

Within and around the Games Park I have worked with a dedicated team to select the best venues for this years Summer Games. Looking to the games of past years I am inspired by the power of sport to bring the nations of Mundus together, to set aside differences and leave politics at the border. Whether it be in the stadium or the arena what matters is the spirit of sportsmanship. From the athletes competing to their fans across the world it seems, if for a brief moment, Mundus is truly one. We do not focus so much on what makes us different but that which unifies us and, perhaps, if we can bottle some of that spirit upon the conclusion of the Games and reflect upon their principles beyond the closing ceremonies, all of us can do our part in being good neighbours in the Mundus-wide community.

Thank you for your time, attention and your consideration. May the best teams win, and may all realize their dreams upon taking to the field. I look forward to welcoming the world to Clysperis and over the following months I will be embarking on a tour to build support for the Clysperi bid. I shall be happy to answer any questions which may be had regarding our bid, Clysperis, and what we're doing to address the unfortunate legacy of slavery and servitude in our region. Pharaoh Seti has a few words he would wish to add.

Thank you. When the Mundus Games last came to Midaranye the world looked much different. The Clysperi Conflict had not yet happened, the standard of living and quality of life was hard we saw indentured servitude right here in our own borders, and it seemed that the status quo would remain unchecked. I am proud today to stand here in the City of Setri, the City of Dreams, in that different world. While Clysperi society has always been welcoming of peoples of all backgrounds we had great work to do in welcoming the poorest, and most vulnerable, in our society: those impacted by the institutions of slavery and servitude. This is why I am proud that the work put into the Khemnen-Setri Games Park has been undertaken in a way which, following the games, we can give back yet more to those impacted.

The games themselves represent dreams from different perspectives: the dreams of the nations vying to host them, athletes aiming to reach the highest echelons of their respective sports, fans in the stands and at home dreaming of bringing home those medals, and the brotherhood which is shared by Mundus during them. We could not imagine any other time than now to bring the games to the City of Dreams itself, and witness together as each of the teams put forth their best. Win or lose, I know that we will see many dreams realized out there.

The Kingdom of Clysperis can, once again, call itself a vibrant society, one which holds true to the ideals of the Mundus Games. A land of competition, where all Clysperi have as the limit to their potential only the height of their dreams. A land of brotherhood, which sees every Clysperi stand together even in the darkest of times, and where none of our brothers and sisters are held in chains. Finally we are a land of peace, dedicating ourselves to leaving a positive impact upon each life we touch. It has been a long and crazy road to this day, with some of us doubting whether or not to place a bid before the international community for consideration, but I'm glad the voices of doubt did not win.

I hope to have the opportunity to welcome Mundus to Clysperis alongside my wife, Pharaoh Akasha, to witness the spectacles and talent which are certain to be held at the Games, and to honour the spirit of the Games as #OneMundus. Thank you all.

Akasha Di-‘nh-mi-Re, Sovereign of Sovereigns, Divine of Appearance, Beloved of Amun, Chosen of Ra, Lord of the Three Lands, Ruler of Justice like Ra, High Priest of Every Temple, the Eye of Horus, Satisfied is the heart of Ra.
Seti Di-‘nh-mi-Re

Unitary State of Mktvartvelo | Message to the Mundus Sports Community

In the name of the Mktvartvelo Mundus Games Organizing Committee, I announce you our candidacy to host the 2022 Mundus Games.

I am well aware that many may be surprised by our announcement. After all, we may not be a nation with a long and memorable nation in the history of the Mundus Games, as previous hosts of this wonderful sport event may have been in past. For reasons that go beyond the purpose of this letter, our nation have resisted professionalization of many sports disciplines for too long. I am proud to say that we have left behind those times, and the renewed enthusiasm that our people have showed is proof that was the long overdue but right decision. It shows that passion for sports lives deeply in our people hearts and souls, and -in case you decide to choose this candidacy-, we are ready to bring back to life the closest to the original spirit of the Mundus Games.

That said, I am sure that you can not have doubsts about the love to sports in our nation, and the organizational and structural capacity to host these Mundus Games. We are behind to offer a Mundus Games that will be unforgettable, innovative, responsible and sustainable. I am glad to have witnessed, in the early stages of our candidacy, a feeling of unity, hope, and openness in both the people and the professionals behind this project, which is certainly shared by the Mktvartvelian authorities as well. I am certain that no other candidacy will be able to offer the unique combination of tradition and modernity, as well as both diversity and openness that our nation is well-known for, all qualities that are firmly rooted in the spirit and values of the Mundus Games.

We can only hope for a positive response toward our initiative, with the highest confidence but still the friendliness and competitiveness, as well as our belief in peace and tolerance, which are natural to our nation.

Yours sincerely,
Brzdmstveli Ketevan Chakhava

I'm a little late signing up, so I seem to have missed the bid deadline.  Ah well, next year then.

Tytor's specialist disciplines are:
1. Ball and Stick Games
2. Diving
3. Racket Sports

Floodwater's specialist disciplines are:
1. Volleyball
2. Sailing
3. Football

Tytor and Floodwater shall cast one collective vote for Clysperis, due to our recognition of the vast strides the kingdom has made toward a proper recognition of human rights, and due to our interest in what they have to offer the Games.
His Majesty Michael the First, by the Grace of God, King of Tytor and her Colonies, and Lord Protector of Floodwater

Addressing: Mundus Games Committee, President Isabel Sullivan
From: Mundus Games National Committee - Südmark

Dame Isabel Sullivan,

Once again, the excitement of another Mundus Games is upon us. The excitement of Team Südmark, and our country in general is hardly contained as preliminary celebrations are being carried out across our homeland in preparation for this year's Games. I hope all is equally lively in your own home country and the weather should prove agreeable as you enjoy the wanning weeks of summer and prepare for the coming winter. As the games are upon us, I write to you to provide our committee’s assessment on Südmark’s viability to participate this year, as well as the committee’s decision on support of potential Hosts for this year’s games.

Having reviewed qualifying participants, the committee is proud to announce Mannschaft Südmark’s ability to participate in this year’s games. Mannschaft Sudmark has expressed their eagerness to showcase Sudmarich sportsmanship in our countries debut participation, with enough qualifying athletes to participate in each competing activity. Though all of our participating athletes have displayed an excellent preliminary performance in their individual categories the Committee has observed and believes Mannschaft Südmark’s strongest contenders to be within the Equstrian cross country, and Ball & Stick Hockey categories. Whether this proves to be true or not remains to be seen.

Now as for the committee’s vote for this year's Host. I will be frank the committee has concerns with this year's bids. Though I know we should not let politics interfere in our decisions I cannot control each and every committee member and their personal views. However, I assure you we have limited the committees voting concerns to be solely related with what aspects might affect our athletes and those of other competing countries. Though Clysperis has shown great strides to address concerns the world over, the committee is still hesitant in regard to Clysperis’ past with internal conflict having ended less than four years ago. For this we are concerned that the effects of said conflict and its fallout could pose potential danger to the participating athletes as well as visiting viewers and tourists.

I have followed the developments of the ‘Setri Project’ (myself having a personal interst in architecture) and while there is certainly something admirable about raising a metropolis from desert sands, many members of the committee are concerned with the facilities within Setri proposed as venues. To put it bluntly, though the venues of Setri are certainly ‘Grand’ and eye catching they are none the less ‘new’, and while not a problem in of itself, concerns of the Committee range from inquiries about the safety of reusing old soviet era buildings (despite how remodeled), to the unknown safety concerns that come with untested venues of such a scale. While I have no personal opinion one way or the other, as per rules of the committee's voting I must follow the majority.

It is for these reasons the National Committee of Südmark officially casts its vote for the city of Azarelia, of the Unitary State of Mktvartvelo, to host this year's Mundus Games.

Regards,
Committee Chairwomen
Isolde Brüner

Summer Games '22
A Statement from The First Empire Of Rokkenjima

To the Mundus Games Committee and the International Community at large

The days grow shorter between us and the upcoming Mundus Summer Games, an opportunity for peoples of all nations to come together in the spirit of competition and sportsmanship. Team Rokkenjima is ready to meet all the other teams out there, hopefully bringing home with them a number of gold medals, but more importantly bringing to the Games the best in Rokkenjiman athletics. For a time our nation was not involved in international sport, a situation which was remedied by previous governments and I'm pleased to see Rokkenjima making a big commitment in showing a presence this year. May the best teams win, and may we all honour the spirit of the Games.

With two bids before us for the Host of the Games we all have a decision before us. I commend the work and detail which has gone into each bid and appreciate each nation, Clysperis and Mktvartvelo, for stepping forward to host the Games. We have seen the Kingdom of Clysperis overcome a dark chapter in their natural history, yet we have also seen the work and dedication of Pharaoh Akasha in eradicating forced servitude and improving the lives of her People. The First Empire is inspired by the drive of the Kingdom of Clysperis to utilize assets built for the Games to benefit those who have had their lives, and those of their ancestors, upended by the institutions of slavery and forced servitude and agree with the assessment of the Pharaoh: the Games deserve to return to Midaranye without the controversy which was attached to the Tamoran-Seleucid Games which saw several nations refrain from participation due to the issues of forced servitude and slavery. Furthermore, as we are talking of the civilization which built pyramids centuries ago which stand to this day, Rokkenjima is confident in the safety of the venues put forth by the Kingdom of Clysperis.

We have also witnessed the People of Clysperis endeavour to rebuild from violence brought upon them by a foe many of us have faced ourselves: terrorism. Naturally such concerns weigh upon any scenario involving the participation of teams from across Mundus, however, from my observations the Royal Clysperi Government has succeeded in remedying the threat. The forces of Nekhtou have been defeated, Nekhtou himself is no longer a factor, and the People of Clysperis have clearly rallied around the Pharaoh and Government of Clysperis in the most trying of times. Having faced similar foes in the form of the Grand Republican Army, the remnants of the Federal Republic which refused to surrender until defeat was inevitably brought to them beyond all manner of doubt, this First Empire has no concerns in the Kingdom's capacity to provide for a safe, secure and memorable Mundus Games experience.

Therefore I am pleased to announce that, after much deliberation within the Rokkenjiman Mundus Games Committee, the following has been decided: the First Empire shall cast its vote for Khemnen-Setri of the Kingdom of Clysperis to host the Summer Games of 2022.

We'll see you all at the Games!

Nya Aland believes both bids are worthy of the Games however will vote for Mktvartvelo as it is believed this will bring the greater benefit for sports in a nation that has struggled with " resisted professionalization" of sport. The games taking place in Mktvartvelo will therefore we believe bring about a greater sporting legacy while the Clysperis bid would bring about a greater political legacy. With the purpose of the games being to promote sporting excellence we believe that Mktvartvelo should be given the 2022 games.

The Democracy Sports Commission formally accepts the invitation of the Mundus Games Organizing Committee and will send a team of our nation's best athletes. We are especially pleased to note the inclusion of a chess event in the Games and hope that our 70 years of isolation have not hurt the development of our nation's stellar chessmasters. Our committee notes, with some sadness, the glaring exclusion of a ping pong event. Perhaps this could be included in next years' games; our athletes would be happy to introduce it to you if you are unfamiliar with it.
Please make necessary arrangements to accommodate our team, who are listed in the attached document.

Best regards,
Sports Commission President
Che Lehe

The Democracy's specialist disciplines are as follows:
1) Chess
2) Racket Sports
3) Mixed Martial Arts
