1. Best International Film.

"Tiempo de Valientes"

In 1885, The Ecclesiastical State under the leadership of Pope Leo XIII sends a military squad to the town of Borgio, Quintelia, to protect one of the last colonies of the Ecclesiastical Empire, to avoid rebellious natives from recovering its ancient territories. Lead by Captain Juan Manuel Pardo and Lieutenant Sánchez, proud military men, the soldiers are stalked by night by the rebels, and are forced to seek refuge in the church run by Fray Isaac, Borgio's priest. Turning the church into a military fort, the unrelenting heat and malaria starts to sweep across the men. After the Captain's death by a disease called beriberi, Sánchez steps in as the new leader of the squad, faced with a constant power struggle with Camilo, a soldier from the previous squad annihilated by the rebels. Becoming more and more paranoid and obsessive with the victory and the glory of the Ecclesiastical Empire, the rebels close to Sánchez explain that the Pope had already signed a peace treaty with the Quintelians, giving them independence, and that the war is over. But Sánchez does not believe in the newspapers given by the rebels and is still obsessed to win at all cost. He makes a last stand in the church with his men, prolonging the battle to several months where one of the soldiers, Nicolás, who falls victim to opium, searches a way to end the conflict, suspecting that all is lost, and wanting to prevent the death of his comrades...

...This is an epic story about soldiers trapped inside a church as last refugee. A fight that no one couldn't win. A war that no one wanted to lose.

2. Best International Song
Fort Battle - Trevor Jones (OOC: from the Last of the Mohicans)
Based from one of UC-born Dougie MacLean's popular pieces "The Gael", this song's featured in the film "Tiempo de Valientes" and has become one of the most popular and well-celebrated in the industry, already considered to be a hallmark within film music classics.

3. Best International Short Film
One-Minute Time Machine
Every time the beautiful Regina rejects his advances, James pushes a red button and tries again, all the while unaware of the reality and consequences of his actions.

4. Best International Documentary
109-Year-Old Veteran and His Secrets to Life Will Make You Smile
Meet Richard Overton, One of Mundus' oldest veterans. In this lively short film hear the whiskey-drinking, cigar-smoking supercentenarian reveal his secrets to a long life. A tribute to all members of armed forces and especially veterans.

Best International Film

Trust - Fiona North's directorial debut film stars Renee Sandiego as Beatrice Anselmo and Alchemy Naismith as Serenity Azurewind  in a film that combines courtroom drama with flashbacks to the events concerned that really make the viewer think they were there, to tell the story of the Andean Genocide, what happened both publicly and behind the scenes, taking the basis of the plot from eyewitness accounts, court transcripts, available data and interviews with those involved. The films centrepiece is the relationship between the two leading characters and the lack of trust from one of them towards the other, how this lack of trust nearly destroys one woman's name and her nations reputation and how when things look lost together they bring out the truth of what happened to allow the genocide to happen when it should not have. Also featuring a dynamic score from Becky Leighton in her first feature film.

(OOC- this synopsis is based on what is presently ICly public knowledge)

Best International Song

Don't Cry for Me Rokkenjima - sung by Renee Sandiego for the film Trust

(OOC- actual film version from Evita found here - obviously the RL title of Don't Cry For Me Argentina doesn't make sense in terms of Mundus hence the rename for IC purposes, I use the Salonga version because I model Renee's singing style when it comes to musical theatre pieces around her.)
