Council Of Maesters Called To Templum Septem
Grand Maester Yuna has issued a call for the Council of Maesters to convene. As the Grand Maester welcomed the beginning of Rinyūaru, the Rosari festival which celebrates the coming of spring, motherhood, and the cycle of life, a call was issued to convene the Council of Maesters. The Council will see the Grand Maester meet with the High Maesters and Archmaesters, the later of which represent governance of the Faith in foreign nations. Grand Maester Yuna issued the call noting "the present circumstances facing Mundus, the tranquility amongst the faiths, as well as strengthening the ties between the Caelestis Curia and our Temples abroad. As one of the elder faiths we have seen such times before, and we have perservered through them together."
"In the coming weeks new leaves will unfurl, flowers will take to bloom, and the silence of winter will gradually find itself replaced with the sounds of life renewed. We see this cycle replicated in every facet of life, whether it be the joy of welcoming a newborn, the harvest of a plentiful crop, or the reflection upon a life well lived. Just as my predecessors before me have done I am pleased to stand here and be joined with several Rosari Faithful as we welcome Rinyūaru, celebrating the end of winter, motherhood, and the ever-continual cycle of life. When we leave here today we'll go to our families, join in the festivities and feasts, and honour our respective matriarchal lines without which none of us would be here today."
"Not since prior to the times of my predecessor, Grand Maester Sakura Hoshido, has the Council of Maesters been called upon, and today I shall see to it that those circumstances are rectified. Together we shall celebrate Rinyūaru while discussing the nascent era in which Mundus finds itself, positioning our Faith to persevere as it always has as well as strengthening the Faith as it continues to grow. I understand that this shall be the first visit to the Caelestis Curia for many Archmaesters, thus it is most fitting that the bonds between the Rosari Faithful of Rokkenjima and Temples abroad should be renewed during Rinyūaru. Our meeting is long overdue and I look forward to welcoming you all to the heart of our Faith.''
The Archmaesters to be in attendance include:
Archmaester Erin Yasumoto, of Tytor
Archmaester Asano Yūki, of Achkaerin
Archmaester Kaoru Akitomi, of Daito
Archmaester Haru Velasco, of Quintellia
Archmaester Jan Müller, of New Derusmia
Archmaester Katagiri Mutsumi, of Jenka-Jenkinson
Archmaester Kasai Taira, of Dartfordia
Archmaester Sakurai Yuki, of Rishiri
The RBC asked the Grand Maester about remarks made by
Emir Sulaiman Samar El-Amin, a question somewhat deflected by the Grand Maester. "Allow me to remind you of my words some years ago:"
"We, as Rosari, recognize that truth is universal, being recognized in the heart. We recognize that truth reveals itself to the heart which explains why we see different faiths on foreign shores; this is simply the manner in which the universal truth elected to reveal itself abroad. This is why we've never seen a Rosari Inquisition, for all paths to the universal truth are just as valid and true as any other. Fundamentally, in each faith, the universal truth remains the same, it is merely the path which we embark upon to reach it which differs.""As a student of faiths, however, as An-Nisa, 34 has been quoted by the Emir this is a passage which is subject to debate depending upon which translation you go by. The full quotation, if I recognize the translation cited by the Emir properly, states
"Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all)." While I certainly shall not be one to judge a foreign faith, using this quotation is odd in this case when the full context is considered. Other translations are either more or less sympathetic to the beating of so-called disobedient wives, but as I said, as a student of foreign faiths I find this particular passage interesting as an argument for traditional values cast against an argument as to whether women are equal to men, that's all."
