Empress Addresses Heyran Travel Advisory


The Empress has highlighted her concerns for Rokkenjimans travelling to the Heyran Republic.

Following a statement from the Attorney for the Crown which spoke of a travel advisory Empress Evanthe clarified the position of the Imperial Government on the matter.

"Given the recent announcement of arrest warrants being issued for 26 unnamed Rokkenjimans the Imperial Government has determined that it is not safe for any Rokkenjiman to travel to Heyran territory for any reason. I would, however, extend that advisory to those of Rokkenjiman descent who live in the Kingdom of Tytor, the Kingdom of Dartfordia and elsewhere throughout Mundus. Unfortunately, I have conveyed concerns to Daitōjin foreign authorities that they may wish to consider an advisory for their citizens due to certain genetic similarities in appearance to Rokkenjimans. While I realize I have no authority over such an advisory from Daitō I have shared my concern as a fellow ally."

The travel advisory will remain in place "for the foreseeable future, and its duration is wholly upon the Republic to determine. I, as Empress, have a responsibility to protect my people from unjust prosecution. While the events surrounding QAMB were unfortunate it has been established that the Republic shares blame in that affair. To these ends the First Empire shall not recognize the validity of any Heyran proceedings on these matters, and does not recognize the authority of Heyran courts to impose any sentences upon any Citizen of Rokkenjima, or the First Empire itself. It is my hopes that we may, once again, place this situation behind us and focus on working toward efforts which can benefit the People of Mundus and promote further constructive dialogue within the community of nations."

Fairuza Kuto Given Command Of Next Hakken Mission


Commander Fairuza Kuto, ISEA, will oversee the next Hakken mission to Space Station Adora.

The Imperial Space and Exploration Agency has announced the commander for the Hakken crew who will undertake a maintenance mission to Space Station Adora, Fairuza Kuto. She is the first Tamoran-Zimalian to go into space during a mission with ISEA which, at times, became surrounded by a cloud of speculation that she would be arrested upon her return to Mundus. That series of events did not transpire, however, and Fairuza applied for a position within ISEA which the Agency granted. In the years which have transpired between her initial mission Fairuza continued her training with ISEA, becoming "a capable and irreplaceable star within ISEA," a colleague shared with the RBC. She and her family have since settled in Rokkenjima and were granted citizenship.

She was born in Zimalia and possesses a bachelor degree in Mathematics from the University of Mogebbe (Zimalia), where she was also a teaching assistant. Since leaving Tamora her husband, Mazhar Kuto, has been employed by Abstergo and has played a key role in the discovery of several rare Mundus materials in the seabed, which is estimated to contain greater than 16 million tons of rare oxides, according to the report, or the equivalent to 780 years’ worth of yttrium supply, 620 years of europium, 420 years of terbium and 730 years of dysprosium.

Speaking with the RBC Fairuza shared her joy in "yet another opportunity of a lifetime" saying that "with ISEA, I feel as though I have lived countless lifetimes in just the span of a few short years. To see Mundus from the heavens themselves, seeing the full breadth of creation, there are no words to describe it fully." When asked what sort of legacy she envisioned for herself she quickly replied: "If I may leave a mark on Mundus it would be to show that no matter where one is born, regardless of any collection of circumstances they may face, if they apply themselves with passion and dedication we are all capable of anything and everything. I remember, looking up to the stars in my younger years knowing my place was to be amongst them. Carrying that dream, nurturing it, and today I voyage amongst them. Never give up, pursue your dreams and you will reach any goal you've set for yourself."

The Imperial Government is working to establish a scholarship for those with a passion for astronomy from nations who were at times looked over, such as Zimalia, and those without an indigenous spacefaring capacity to study at Rokkenjiman institutions with eventual studying and employment opportunities being extended by ISEA. "The next generation of explorers are out there, if we reach out to them and nurture their passion. ISEA is pleased to embark on a new journey with Fairuza, looking around us here on Mundus to find them and support them in their educational pursuits so they may join us on future missions; to Adora, the moon, and beyond."

Imperial Diet Passes र218.3bn ($403.8bn) Defence Budget


Minister for Defence Rei Katayama secured the support of Pyrena Castle for an increase toward Rokkenjiman security.

As a part of the annual budget process the Imperial Diet has passed a Pyrena Castle supported budget which includes further funding for the Imperial Rokkenjiman Armed Forces. Pyrena Castle sought the र218.3 ($403.8bn) in spending to "ensure timely maintenance and updates to Rokkenjiman hardware, the research of new and increasingly effective platforms, acquisitions for each Branch of the Imperial Rokkenjiman Armed Forces, as well as maintaining and furthering Rokkenjiman cyberwarfare capabilities. The importance of cyberspace cannot be understated; as we saw in the former Warsaw Pact Rokkenjima was capable of thwarting their launch capability through exploiting flaws in the hardware and software employed by the Soviets," a Cyber Posture Review stated before adoption of the new budget.

The success of the budget increase, which sees the Rokkenjiman defense project increase to 3.9% of its GDP, is a victory for Defence Minister Rei Katayama. "Our new budget ensures that the Imperial Rokkenjiman Armed Forces will continue to be capable of conducting two major-theatre operations in separate regions of Mundus, with the capacity for a third, more minor scale, operation also being possible. It ensures that our soldiers continue to get duly compensated for their service to the First Empire, and it ensures that the equipment, vehicles, aircraft, vessels, and weaponry which they use in the defence of our First Empire will work reliably. If we are to be in a position to send them into dangerous positions, it is our just responsibility to ensure their success and safe return home," she said in remarks to the RBC.

When asked of foreign concerns, especially in regards to Rokkenjima's recent review of the Imperial Rokkenjiman Navy, the Minister for Defence stated that "our capacity will, as it always has been, utilized in the defence of the First Empire, our allies, and toward the pursuits of international stability. Remember that we have never fired our weapons in anger without provocation or the intent to protect our People, our allies, and those who find themselves fighting for their very rights to self determination. It is an overstated concern in some circles of Mundus that Rokkenjima is an irrational power, and we will not determine our policy based upon such unwarranted concerns. We have a right to defend ourselves and our allies and no force shall preclude us from doing either."

A Rokkenjiman View Of Mundus: 2022

The RBC presents the eighth edition of this long-running poll which provides a look into how Rokkenjimans view Mundus.

What State do you view as the greatest threat to global peace and security?

The Heyran Republic, with its secretive banking practices, proceedings against Rokkenjiman nationals and the First Empire itself, and allegations of ties to the institution of slavery topped the list this year with 82% of respondents naming the Republic as the greatest threat to global peace and security. Ties with nations such as Tamora, combined with Heyra's refusal to address the allegations that Elysium is being used as a front to launder on behalf of slave owners in the Tamoran Empire, have fueled Rokkenjiman discontent with the Heyran Republic. 92% of Rokkenjimans responded that they believed that Heyra was knowingly aiding and abetting the institution of slavery and Tamoran efforts to evade the bite of sanctions in response to its continued practice of slavery.

Which nations do you view as Rokkenjima's closest allies?

The reformation of the CSTO has bolstered the views Rokkenjimans share with their CSTO allies, however, the establishment of the Cross-Straits Community has expanded that list as well. Tytor, Dartfordia, Achkaerin, Daito and Lakhzovia easily rounded out the top 5 nations considered as close Rokkenjiman allies, with the Tytorian "special relationship" supplanting the Dartfordian special relationship in some regards. More Rokkenjimans are identifying the Kingdom of Tytor as Rokkenjima's closest ally, with the consumption of Tytorian culture rising 35% over the previous year. Whilst the Kingdom of Dartfordia "still holds a special place" (according to respondents) "Tytor is just across the pond." Rokkenjiman-Tytorian cooperation on a multitude of issues has been more comprehensive than Rokkenjiman-Dartfordian cooperation in recent years, which has undoubtedly helped to move the needle.

Public opinion regarding the Holy Empire of Achkaerin has also largely recovered from the troubled days of LISA. 89% of respondents stated that Tytor was Rokkenjima's closest ally, while 74% reported either a "favourable" or "very favourable" view of the Holy Empire. Rokkenjimans expressed an interest in yet deeper relations between the First Empire and Daitō, with 89% stating "a strong bilateral relationship between Rokkenjima and Daitō is paramount."

Do you support the foreign and military policies pursued by the Empress?

In 2022 76% of respondents supported the foreign polices of the First Empire.

79% of respondents approve of the Empress' handling of relations with East Moreland, 87% (up from 58%) view closer relations with Achkaerin are most beneficial to the First Empire, and a record 90% feel that international cooperation is failing due to in-fighting and increasing competition between Mundus' powers. A full 80% stated they felt that Rokkenjima was being "thrown under the bus" to the benefit of powers such as Samantra, Casseopia, Rayyu and Heyra, and called on Pyrena Castle to "stop playing nice."

Do you support Rokkenjiman membership in the Cross-Straits Community?

Support for continued membership in the Cross-Straits Community (the CSC) remained strong, with 85% supporting Rokkenjima's continued membership.

What is your opinion of the Republic of Heyra and its relations with the First Empire?

Following the events surrounding the collapse of relations between Rokkenjima and Heyra, which once held a favourable rating north of 80% in polling before the events, just 27% of Rokkenjimans hold a favourable view of the Heyran Republic. Repairing relations with Heyra is seemingly not a priority to the Rokkenjiman public despite the words of Crown Princess Asuna suggesting Rokkenjimans hold an affinity for Heyra, with 21% stating it should be a top priority of the Empress to repair relations. 78% view Heyra at fault for the events surrounding QAMB and its destruction, with a further 69% responding that Rokkenjima should have paid nothing to the Heyrans. 72% responded that the diplomatic efforts of the First Empire would be better spent elsewhere. The numbers seem to indicate that a majority of Rokkenjimans hold the Heyran Republic accountable for the fallout in relations, and their shattered state, to this day.

Imperial Bank Announces New Ducat Series

Imperial Bank Governor Josephine Faust presented the new series which will continue from 2022-onward. "The Ducat remains a polymer-based banknote with a small chip being present in the Imperial Seal which lends further security and anti-counterfeit measures. This series, the "Artistic Series", highlights Rokkenjiman landmarks and skylines. So far we've received a warm reception, with the vast majority preferring the new bills to those they replace."

The र20 Ducat banknote continues to feature former Premier Abe, who remains a popular figure throughout Rokkenjima.

Captain Forrester, Others, Will Not Present Themselves To Heyran Proceedings


Imperial High Command confirmed that Captain Sophia Forrester and four others would not be presenting themselves to Heyran legal proceedings.

Captain Sophia Forrester and four others named by the Heyrans in their legal proceedings would not be cooperating with Heyra's summons for their appearance. "The Imperial Rokkenjiman Armed Forces do not operate under the legal authority of any sovereign state than Rokkenjima, thus the Heyran request for their appearance is dead upon arrival," Grand Marshall Alex Rowe stated to the RBC. "As I understand, however, Captain Sophia Forrester is presently in command of one of Rokkenjima's most capable warships. If they should wish to push the issue they may try, and fail, to compel her compliance. I state again, however, that no Heyran court holds jurisdiction over a Rokkenjiman protecting the men and women serving under her. This trial is little better than theatrics, and the Imperial Rokkenjiman Armed Forces will lend them no credence.

The Grand Marshall refused to name those names requested by the Heyrans. "We do not list the names of our sailors and personnel serving throughout Mundus, and we shall most certainly not cooperate with the Heyran witch hunt. They have no legal basis, no basis whatsoever, to proceed from. These trials against our brave women and men, and our nation itself, are just show trials for a nation that cannot accept the natural consequences for its decisions, it's that simple. If these were Uppsala matters it would be a different story, however, it will be a cold day in hell before we recognize the authority of a Heyran Court on these matters."

Captain Forrester Promoted To Rear Admiral


Rear Admiral Forrester has a reputation for placing the safety of Rokkenjiman forces as well as Rokkenjiman national security, at the forefront of her military career.

Noting the "valour, dedication and swift actions" which Captain Sophia Forrester took in command throughout a "remarkable career" Imperial High Command has announced her promotion to Rear Admiral. "Without the decisive actions we saw many times, many scenarios could have played out very differently," Grand Marshal Alex Rowe shared with the RBC. Imperial High Command recognizes the skills, determination and bravery which have been shown and hereby confer the rank of Rear Admiral upon Sophia Forrester. I look forward to working with her in promoting Rokkenjiman interests, and shall rest assured in her command abilities."

Rear Admiral Forrester was thus assigned to IRN Beluga, a Sturgeon Class, of the Imperial Rokkenjiman First Fleet, where she will be responsible for operations in the so-called "Tri-Seas Convergence": the Krimeon Sea, the Dauntel Sea, and the Sea of Kyne (western). Empress Evanthe was on hand to confer upon Rear Admiral Forrester the rank of 2nd Class, Gold and Silver Star, of the Order of the Rising Sun. "May the heroic actions of Rear Admiral Forrester be known throughout our history, and may we always remember the woman who rose to the challenge of making several difficult decisions in the defense of those under her command, and of the security interests of the First Empire of Rokkenjima. Today, the First Empire formally recognizes these actions and awards her these just rewards."

Following the ceremony upon Hoshiko Island Rear Admiral Forrester assumed her new duties, wasting little time in returning to her service to the First Empire.

Rokkenjimans Pay Most Per Capita For Defense


Retired Grand Marshal Henry Cole offered a perspective on the current state of Rokkenjiman military affairs in a recent editorial to the RBC.

A recent report has found that Rokkenjimans pay the most throughout Mundus on a per-capita basis for defense spending, clocking in at $2,282.28. As a percentage of the Rokkenjiman economy this amounts to 3.9% of the GDP, an increase from previous spending levels closer to 3%. In the years following the collapse of the United Soviet Russia and the Warsaw Pact Rokkenjima was poised for a peace dividend. This leaves many to wonder why Rokkenjima has failed to demobilize following the conclusion of the threat posed to international peace and security by the USR and its Warsaw allies.

Indeed, as highlighted by reporting by the RBC nearly a week ago, military spending has indeed increased. With new contracts being awarded to Abstergo Industries and other Rokkenjiman defense firms for procurements of new aircraft, vessels and other assets Pyrettania seemingly has no interests in the peace dividend it otherwise earned. Analysts expect that spending levels will remain at their present levels as there seems to be no interests in reducing military spending by the Imperial Government anytime soon. While Minister Katayama hails the budget with statements such as "We have a right to defend ourselves and our allies and no force shall preclude us from doing either" others are left wondering if these funds may be better spent elsewhere, as there is no immediate threat to the First Empire in the modern era. We do not find ourselves in the days of an Ardian Empire intent on taking territory from Rokkenjima, nor do we find ourselves locked in a geopolitical battle against a construct such as the Warsaw Pact.

Despite her roots as one of Mundus' premier diplomats the war machine constructed by the Saisei Empress remains just as potent as it was during her reign, perhaps even more so now with those assets procured by the Imperial Rokkenjiman Armed Forces following her departure from Chrysanthemum Throne. A reorganization of Rokkenjiman and allied bases into Joint Military Facilities (JMF) also enhances the capabilities of Rokkenjiman and allied forces to react to scenarios across Mundus and project power on a global scale. At the end of the day we may wish to ask ourselves if the current level of spending is justified and if other tools available to Rokkenjima should be utilized to do the job better. In a world without a foe such as the USR, for now, it seems as though Pyrettania is unwilling to demobilize, with some within the Imperial Government having seemingly fallen into a trap: if Rokkenjima were to demobilize, it would be left without the capacity to address the next USR or Warsaw.

I support our troops, I also support giving them the tools and support necessary for them to succeed in their mission. Yet I also believe that when diplomacy succeeds it is the best tool in keeping our forces safe and out of harm's way. We have the capability to resolve most issues before the first bullet flies, to end wars before they need even be started. In a world without such monolithic threats other justifications are found to maintain and expand defense spending, I'm reminded of the flare-ups resolving the Tamoran Empire and the issues brought against the Iwi in recent times. Thus, instead of enjoying the rewards earned in peace the transition to the mode of thought that the next threat is lurking beyond the horizon has been adopted, thus we must always be ready to rise to that challenge should it manifest.

These are, of course, my opinions on the matter. I will not second-guess the decisions made by those presently serving, but I would urge that we consider all possibilities moving into the future on what is the best formula to ensure the interests of Rokkenjima and her allies.

Empress Evanthe Announces Keystone Initiative


Empress Evanthe addressed the nation, and international networks, in a prime time address in which she announced the Keystone Initiative.

"We stand at a crossroads, that's how I addressed the first Summit of the Cross-Straits Community, that we live in a Mundus in crisis. It is not quite so evident upon the surface; for many of us, life goes on as it normally has for as long as we can remember. We send our children to school, go to work, enjoy a stroll through the park, love who we wish to...I could be describing any events which occur in our daily lives, from the most mundane to the most grand, yet it is the common thread which is important. For us nothing has changed, thus we seemingly aren't impacted by the events around us. Nations blatantly engaging in practices which are against the values we've fought so very hard to ensure, openly practicing the worst crimes against humanity, slavery the most apparent amongst them, whilst keystone international accords are framed as affronts against national sovereignty or, perhaps my favourite, are somehow representative of an insidious ultra-liberal world order that's against God himself.

This is why Mundus stands at a crossroads: to continue the march of progress or allow for the type of world we sought to prevent to slowly manifest itself into existence. Already we may be upon the precipice of a world where what was once understood as universal rights, those such as ensuring that who we love is not a matter of the state to have a say in, the right to clean and safe water, and a future where slavery is consigned fully to history, are to be applicable to certain people whilst what I can only imagine shall be "God-ordained rights" shall be applicable to others. Having been involved in both iterations of the Mundus Convention for Universal Rights, as well as several other keystone treaties and institutions, it is becoming increasingly more clear that nations must do more to preserve the fruits we have gained in our march of progress and to stand as a bulwark against the chaos, uncertainty and despair which stands upon the other side. This shall see the establishment of the Keystone Initiative, which will reach out to states across Mundus to increase adoption of these treaties and institutions, as well as providing assistance when necessary in other concerns of state. The Keystone Initiative will also be partnering with the Mundus Development Bank to ensure that the mission of that institution, which is to ensure ever higher standards of living across Mundus, may be achieved alongside the expansion of basic universal rights for the Peoples of Mundus.

We are also aware of the extensive infrastructure in place which allows slavers, and those who profit from their repugnant practices, to operate nearly unchecked due to economic black holes. We have testimony from one voice with an insider understanding of one such black hole, however, we have also seen nations accommodating those who maintain such institutions in a variety of manners. We have also seen the erosion upon other keystone treaties and institutions, a process which we must begin to turn back. As many of us have seen the benefits which have been possible for our Peoples due to the march of progress, and the creation of a more fair and safe world following the demise of the Warsaw Pact and, later, rogue nations such as Slava Lavosk, in this modern era it is even more important for us to work together to ensure that all that we've worked for, that bright star of hope that countless Peoples look to from all across Mundus, shall not burn out. They shall see that we, here, today have determined to protect the world which we've gained through each stride of progress; we won't return to the days of old, nor will we allow rights to be relinquished.

We must not allow Mundus to ever be in a position where it is held to the tyranny of gods or what their followers say they represent. The laws of the world must be written by the living, for it is the living who are governed by them. Not the dead, not spirits, angels nor devils, but us as living and breathing human beings. The Keystone Initiative will work to ensure that we have an opportunity to save our world from a future which is more bleak, less free, and returns us to an era in which some Mundusians have the rights and freedoms we've all fought for. I will be bringing you regular updates as the Keystone Initiative begins to function, new partners as they come onboard, and together we can reaffirm that no force can withhold progress from its inevitable march throughout history. Later this evening I will be meeting with the Imperial Diplomatic Corps to see just what services we may expand at our embassies and consular offices to ensure that any person, regardless of where they are, always has a path to ensuring their rights.

Former Diet Member Sues Imperial Government


Randolph Groves, former member of the Diet for Kavania Prefecture, has argued that the reign of Empress Evanthe is unconstitutional.

Randolph Groves, former Member of the Diet for Kavania Prefecture, has filed a suit with the Supreme Court of Judicature calling for "the end of the reign of Evanthe Rhodes and the restoration of the constitutional line of Empress' as prescribed by the Constitution of the First Empire of Rokkenjima." The former Councilor argued that Empress Evanthe is serving in her position in an unconstitutional fashion and, as prescribed by Rokkenjiman law and tradition, that her reign is therefore illegal "regardless of any deal made by the Saisei Empress, the Imperial Council and the Diet of the time." The case is expected to be heard over the summer session of the Court, with Pyrena Castle declining to comment at this time.

Mr. Groves has declined that personal interests were at play, having been a former supposed love interest of the Empress. "We have a Constitution for a reason," Mr. Groves said, "and the fact of the matter is Evanthe is not amongst those in a line of Empress' uninterrupted. She has no right to Chrysanthemum Throne, no right to the title of Empress, and the Seven Divine willing, we will see constitutional governance restored to this First Empire. I have every faith in the Supreme Court of Judicature in exercising their duties and rectifying this aberration from our history as a nation governed by laws."

Multinational Project Commences On Oceanographic Research Array


Existing (Rokkenjiman) and proposed (Daito, Tytor and Phuebra) land-based and ocean based ORA assets as proposed by the Imperial Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency.

The Imperial Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency has partnered with the Daito Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (DAMSTEC) (Daito) and the Royal Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (Tytor) for the creation of the Oceanographic Research Array (ORA). Featuring a system of underseas hydrophones, passive sonar arrays and monitoring stations along the shores of the three nations the ORA will monitor seismicity across the ocean basins in the Sea of Kyne, the Rokkenjima Sea, the Dauntel, and in waters extending toward the Matilda Channels and the Strait of Shaw. A network of underseas hydrophones will be paired with passive sonar arrays positioned along the shores of Rokkenjima, Daito and Tytor to accomplish this multi-faceted monitoring network. Negotiations are expected to begin with Phuebra to extend the ORA further south, expanding the capacity and abilities of the ORA to provide useful scientific data to all nations involved. The First Empire has indicated that Lakhzovia would be invited to participate as well "to further our understanding of the Krimeon Sea and the seismic anomalies which may take place there as well."

Individual hydrophone arrays will be installed primarily on continental slopes and seamounts at locations which are unobstructed by seafloor features which would block sound wave transmission across large areas of the ocean. The announcement follows Rokkenjima's commitment to furthering the study of the oceans of Mundus, which are much less understood than even the cosmos around us. "Through understanding what is happening in an environment which encompasses so much of Mundus we will further our understanding of the world which we inhabit and provide valuable research information to our international and educational partners. While Rokkenjima has a partial network in place, this project will expand the pool of data in such a way to lead the way into oceanographic research into the next century."

Rokkenjima has pledged to provide at least 50% of the funding for the network, with construction expected to begin by the end of the month in partner nations.

Rokkenjiman Embassies And Consulates Fly Pride Flag


Empress Evanthe visited the Rokkenjiman Embassy in Nis and spoke about the continued importance of the Consular Marriage and Adoption Program.

The Imperial Government has long focused on the rights of the LGBTQ community at home and abroad during Pride Month, with the Empress visiting the Rokkenjiman Embassy in Tytor last year to mark the seventh year of the Consular Marriage and Adoption Program (CMAP). This year she has visited the Rokkenjiman Embassy in Nis, a nation in which same-sex marriage is illegal and sex reassignment surgery is not permitted. "Citizens of nations such as Nis stand the most to gain from programs like CMAP," the Empress said as the Rokkenjiman and Pride flags flew overhead, "allowing services and rights to those who are denied the right to marry or adopt due to local laws which are discriminatory against them. The Program in Nis is special as it allows for the transgendered community of Nis to utilize the class of citizenship offered by CMAP to travel to Rokkenjima, or a Cross-Straits state, for sexual reassignment surgeries and other supportive programs. They may also marry and seek adoption services and, if they deem it necessary, may seek residence and full Rokkenjiman citizenship."

"We have seen many success stories over the years and, this year, I hope to see some of them come from Nis," the Empress continued. "From couples who would otherwise have had to give up on the idea of marriage entirely, to those who have wanted to start a family but otherwise couldn't, the Imperial Diplomatic Corps have assisted new families to take form, and couples to finally exchange vows and see their union recognized as marriage. It is unfortunate that governments, such as that in Nis, does not value the lives of their LGBTQ citizens and prefers to, for lack of a better term, sweep their existence under the rug through their blind dogmatic policies. As I said last year, until all People of a nation regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation and gender identiy are afforded equal rights by their Governments they cannot rightly consider themselves truly free societies or nations."

The Empress attended two weddings that were held at the Embassy and remarked on the current state of international affairs. "We see rights being curtailed in some corners of Mundus as these beautiful couples join in marriage. Hopefully, one day, they will be valued regardless of where they are in the world. We have much work before us to see discrimination, hatred and bigotry are stamped out and exist only as a memory of a less enlightened era. Defense Solutions Division Unveils Sirius-C


The Sirius-C made an appearance near the Abstergo campus.

The Defense Solutions Division has provided the first glimpse at its new main battle tank which Abstergo claims will set new standards for armoured vehicles. The Sirius-C features what Abstergo is calling the "New Generation Gun System", a 130mm system, which the company claims has a 50% longer kill range than 120mm systems. Comprehensive situational awarness tools and a fully digital architecture allow for the Sirius-C to integrate with the Imperial Rokkenjiman Army of today while being future-proofed to serve in the Imperial Rokkenjiman Army of tomorrow. Abstergo will be offering the Sirius-C to both the IRAF and allied militaries.

The NGGS features a 130mm gun as well as a fully automatic ammunition handling system granting Sirius-C an improvement in effectiveness and range over current systems. The autoloader carries up to 20 rounds ready to be fired in the back of the tank separate from the crew of three. Several options exist for lethality: along with a coaxial machine gun that serves in tandem with the 130mm NGGS larger ammunition can be placed in the back of the autoloader, while remote-controlled weapon stations can be attatched as well as launchers for loitering munitions and unmanned platforms. While the default crew is three people a fourth crew member is available as either a weapons or subsystem specialist or even a battalion commander, should the need arise.

Sirius-C was designed to take full advantage of ICON, meaning it can share a common operating picture with other ICON assets on the battlefield. Operations may also be transferred between crew members digitally. Also, as both the turret and weapons are controllable from within the chassis Abstergo is planning variants of Sirius-C that will include unmanned turrets, including an option for remotely-operated Sirius-C units. Optical sensors and radar are located all around the Sirius-C to provide 360 degrees of situational awareness to crewmembers. Aside active protection, the system provides both sensor-based reactive and passive protection.

"Should a threat come close it will be detected by radar and verified by optical sensors," Abstergo explained. "If passive elements aren't enough directed energy is pushed out and destroys the incoming target. We look forward to contributing to the continued security and capabilities of the Imperial Rokkenjiman Armed Forces, and those of our allies, through developing improved platforms such as the Sirius-C."

Imperial Government Announces News Of Princess Kyōko


Following an investigation the Imperial Naval Intelligence Service (INIS) has found the rumoured lost sister of the Saisei Empress.

INIS Director Tamaki Kado spoke with the RBC this morning regarding reports from Pyrena Castle regarding the Imperial Family. "Having spoken with the Empress I can confirm that the Imperial Family is presently dealing with a matter which the media should provide all privacy and consideration for. Following an investigation initiated shortly after I began my tenure as Director of the INIS we came to discover that the rumours of a lost-sister of the Saisei Empress showed evidence of being more than just rumours. Our finest of investigators and agents poured over countless records maintained by our predecessors and soon came to one conclusion: that Princess Kyōko was more than just a war time ruse by the Royalist Forces. She was, and is, an Anselmo who bore the wounds of our collective struggle against the Federal Republic as she had her entire life upended, her family kept secret to her, and a life constructed for her. She is presently in the care of the First Empire's best crisis counselors and will remain at Pyrena Castle for the foreseeable future."

Princess Kyōko, it was revealed, is Lucretia Marino, First Minister of the Rishiri Imperial Overseas Dependency. In a brief provided by the INIS it was revealed that Kyōko was placed in the care of a Rokkenjiman family, the Marinos, with the details of her life being obscurred by Rokkenjiman intelligence to ensure her safety in the event tragedy should befall the Anselmo Family. As the war ended, officials determined that it would be more harmful to the Princess to reveal the truth and, as such, the life which she knew continued. Director Tamaki Kado stated to the RBC that "she is now a young woman, now that we know the truth it is unethical to maintain the lies of previous agencies. She deserves to know who she is and who her family is."

A skilled diplomat and civic servant in her own right she guided Rishiri through a series of potential crises, such as when more vocal elements of the Rishirian political culture called for, at times, outright breaches of the Treaty which guides Rishiri's present status. Rishiri stated that it "wishes the Princess well, none of us can imagine the impact such news must have upon someone. In the mean time our Acting First Minister is more than capable of managing the affairs of Rishiri. We wish the Princess only the best in navigating this challenging chapter of her life."

The Imperial Household Ministry confirmed to the RBC that Kyōko would be recognized as Kyōko Anselmo, Princess of Azukishima and Duchess of Pyrettania. "The fact remains that Princess Kyōko is the sister of the Saisei Empress, a descendant of Islyna, and she shall be accorded all the rights and privileges of her birth. The Imperial Household Ministry shall respect the privacy of the Imperial Family by stating only that which is necessary in this time. Reporters shall be restricted to only official areas of Pyrena Castle for the foreseeable future as the Princess processes this information and adjusts to these massive changes in her life. Princess Kyōko Speaks Candidly With The RBC


Princess Kyōko reminisced upon seeing a dandelion full of seeds to disperse, "Papa and I used to make wishes as we blew into them, each seed a chance our wishes would come true."

Princess Kyōko, who has reportedly settled well into Pyrena Castle and is beginning to undertake Imperial responsibilities, took a moment to speak with the RBC who had been at Pyrena Castle to showcase the restoration of a 17th century sculpture by the Imperial Arts Association, with much of the funding coming personally from Empress Evanthe. Princess Kyōko caught the attention of our crew outside of the Castle and seemed to imply she was inconveniencing our crew by asking to speak with them. Below is the exchange which took place.

"Thank you for your time, really, you're here for a different assignment so I almost feel as if I'm troubling you," the Princess said with humility. After our crew informed the Princess that they would be happy to speak with her she showed them a recent airing of Samantra, I Love You! on her phone. "Now things between Rokkenjima and Samantra aren't going well at the moment so, hopefully, these airwaves will find some people for whom I wished to speak with. Boris, thank you so much for your words, but believe me when I say I had the most wonderful childhood, and I feel that any parent, adoptive or not, can give their children the world. It doesn't matter what you have, what, in ways of material items, luxuries, even money. It's the experiences I had with my parents, the memories no one can put a price on, the values shared and the lessons learned. One does not need to be wealthy materially to be truly wealthy, but I'm sure you know that in your heart, as your words speak to your character of deep concern for your children. I'm sure they'll continue to thrive in the love and support that you're giving them to lead the best lives they can."

"As for Anonymous' daughter," Kyōko paused, "she sounds like a Princess in her own right already and, once I get some things cleared with customs to deal with these cumbersome sanctions, I am sending her some of the gifts I received upon my arrival at Pyrena Castle. These include a tiara, a ticket for a dress which will be appropriately sized upon her arrival and I am including a ticket to Rokkenjima, one day, for you and your family to spend the day with me at Pyrena Castle where I can enjoy the company of a fellow adoptive Princess. I know things are bad right now with the sanctions and rhetoric, but I'm going to do what I can to see at least a normalization in relations which would allow for such a visit, as well as more fair relations between our nations. Sanctions and punitive actions don't solve anything, they merely drive the wedge further between Peoples, they hurt everyday citizens, and there' no replacement for good-faith diplomacy."

"Yvan and Anna sound wise, like my parents have shown me to be," she continued with a smile. "There is so much more to family than the mere sharing of blood, and that's something that too often gets lost in cultures and societies across Mundus. All parents face the same challenges, but adoptive parents also hold an additional burden on their shoulders and I feel we should remember them, and be grateful that they stepped up in some cases where no one else would. I am thankful I got to hear your voices, and look forward to a day where we live in a world that places dialogue over the virtue signaling of sanctions and like measures against other nations. Hopefully, before long, we may see a thaw between Rokkenjima and Samantra, and we may see the days where Rokkenjiman diplomats won the battles before punitive actions were even considered necessary."

"I'm not saying that sanctions and other measures don't have their place, but when we must rely upon them as the Saisei and Ōkami Empress' have there is a problem, a breakdown somewhere in the system. I know that Empress Ōkami shares a desire in seeing my niece having the best position to start from, thus I am certain she will support my independent review of the Foreign Policy of the First Empire and she'll take my recommendations into consideration."

Rokkenjima's favourite daughters lit up the crowds at Quintellia Stadium as the Cool Rokkenjima tour continues, celebrating Rokkenjiman culture and its countless fans abroad. The energy of the crowd was only matched by the intensity of BABYMETAL, seen especially as they performed "BxMxC" with the crowd singing along at countless times during their performance along with a well measured pyrotechnics and laser lights show. The headliner for this show, BABYMETAL, was joined by Band-Maid, The Pillows, Maximum the Hormone, Hatsune Miku, Ghost and Dethklok. Hatsune Miku, Rokkenjima's "Digital Ambassador", gave a shout-out to Emperor Lapu before breaking out into "World is Mine" stating "Being in Quintellia is an honour and a privelege, made even more special by being here with you all! Emperor Lapu is one of my favourite people to share letters with and I know that Rokkenjima loves Quintellia just as much as you love us! You all are the true stars in this show, and I am humbled so many came out to see us. BABYMETAL shared with me the energy you showed them, so I hope we can match it and have a wonderful time together!"

The Tour is expected to proceed through Quintellia before making its way through 4 Derusmian cities before transitioning to the next city on the tour, which is in Djabidjan. Imperial Government, Abstergo Reach Agreement On "Ashinxao 2045" Cancellation


Neo Ashinxao, which would have been an extension of the City of Ashinxao, has been cancelled. In its place Rokkenjima and Abstergo will use the funds which would have been allocated to the 2045 Project to combat the effects of climate change upon existing Rokkenjiman cities and infrastructure.

The Imperial Government and Abstergo Industries have reached "an amicable agreement" on the cancellation of "Ashinxao 2045", a project which would have seen an extension of Ashinxao built out into the Sea of Kyne. "Following a review of the Imperial Government on the project we determined, following a symbolic ground breaking, that the funds which would have been utilized in "Ashinxao '45" can be better utilized to fortifying existing Rokkenjiman cities and infrastructure from the challenges of a changing climate. Working with Abstergo we will see a redesigned electrical and utilities grid capable of withstanding projected increases in temperature and extreme weather events, the construction of sea walls to protect existing Rokkenjiman cities, and programs designed to capture carbon and reduce the impacts of greenhouse gasses. Furthermore, increased funds will be made available for the construction of new nuclear power plants as well as utilizing wind, solar, tidal and geothermal energy to continue the First Empire's drive toward a carbon-free future. The Imperial Government is pleased to enter this new partnership with Abstergo Industries and believes that the impacts of this change will be greater than those which would have been realized through "Ashinxao '45", ensuring that our future generations have a safe and prosperous Rokkenjima to live within," Empress Evanthe shared with the RBC.

Albert Relkin, CEO of Abstergo, shared the optimism of the Empress. "While "Ashinxao '45" was an ambitious project I believe the successor to that project surpasses it in every way. Utilizing the work of the Research and Future Technologies Division Abstergo is a comitted partner in preserving a future for the Rokkenjiman Nation and People, providing the infrastructure to exist in a changing Mundus while protecting existing cities from the impacts of global climate change. Furthermore, working with the Imperial Government, Abstergo will be working to see the current level of new vehicle shares for electric vehicles (40%) increased to 75% by 2027. Advances in battery technology, as well as offering subsidies and other incentives for people to choose electric over gasoline vehicles, is now a central focus of Abstergo Industries. We will also be partnering with Sirius Energy to see their "Nocturnal Solar" systems reached a more broad audience, both at home and abroad, because the solutions to these issues cannot come just from Rokkenjima, but must be seen in the world around us as well. We estimate that foreign nations which are favourable solar states can see a cost-effective solution to their energy needs, even versus nuclear energy, through building the plants which Sirius Energy has pioneered and we look forward to bringing those options to foreign consumers."

The Office for Fiscal Responsibility estimated that the shift from "Ashinxao '45" would save the First Empire billions while adding at least 4-7% to the national GDP in the coming decade.

Blue Star Lines Contracts Rosa Shipyards For NS Savannah

Blue Star Lines announced earlier today their foray into nuclear shipping. The NS Savannah, which BSL ordered from renowned Rosa Shipyards, is expected to be a nuclear-powered vessel which transports both cargo and passengers across the seas of Mundus, further exemplifying the peaceful use of nuclear technology. "NS Savannah will feature a range of 300,000nm on a single load of fuel elements," Blue Star Line President Matsunaga Akira shared with the RBC. "To acheive a similar range in our conventionally powered vessels, for comparison, Poseidon requires at least 6 tons of maritime fuel per hour in her operations. If we are capable of showing that NS Savannah is viable, we can contribute to an environment which sees less fossil fuels burned in our operations."

NS Savannah will be capable of hosting 60 passengers and 14,040 tons of cargo, according to the Blue Star Line. "She's a concept vessel, so we wished to explore her capabilities in more than one area," President Matsunaga Akira continued. "We're exited by the prospects Savannah will bring to the Blue Star fleet, and look forward to building new, dedicated, ocean liners around her technology once it is proven. May we see a vessel on the scale of United States or Poseidon based upon her? Time will tell, but we are hopeful as to the prospects of this project. We can live safely with nuclear technology, and Savannah is just one piece in the puzzle of proving that fact."

NS Savannah is expected to enter service upon her completion by Rosa Shipyards. "We've a long tradition with Rosa (Shipyards), and I am confident in the quality of their work. As soon as Savannah has completed her sea trials we shall look to press her into service."

Rokkenjima Declines To Recognize Daitōjin Use Of Chrysanthemum


The Chrysanthemum adorns Takara Imperial Villa, a summer residence for the Imperial Family. Constructed in 1899 it is one of the largest wooden buildings in Rokkenjima.

As the Imperial Household Agency of Daito has moved to lift restrictions upon the use of the Chrysanthemum Imperial Seal in Daito the Imperial Household Ministry has enacted plans it has had on hand for such an occasion. Officially the First Empire "shall not recognize Daitōjin use of the Seal" and goes on to say "there is but one Chrysanthemum Throne. A symbol entwined with the sun, the All-Mother Islyna, and her descendant the Empress, it also symbolizes the longevity which ties us to the very earliest days of our nation. With the decisive victory over the Federal Republic Rokkenjimans embraced the Chrysanthemum with pride as a symbol of Rokkenjima itself. For these reasons the First Empire shall not recognize the moves of the Imperial Household Agency."

The Rokkenjiman Ambassador to Daito, Murako Yoshitomi, has been recalled to Pyrettania for discussions on the move and to receive official guidance from the Imperial Household Ministry and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Pyrena Castle has also cancelled a planned meeting between the Empress Evanthe and Emperor Eijiro which would have taken place aboard the Ashinxao. Instead the Empress will travel to Rishiri, allowing for tests of the endurance of the new Imperial Yacht, to attend the swearing-in of the new Rishirian First Minister. "The Empress looks forward to returning to Rishiri as it has been some time since she has had the opportunity to do so. The Empress shall then visit the Kingdom of Seaforth briefly to catch-up with the Rhodes before her return to Rokkenjima."

Crown Princess Raises Over र750,000 In Livestreams For Phuebra


In the weeks following the deadly attack in Phuebra the Crown Princess held an online fundraiser to provide for the victims and their families of the 6/29 terrorist attacks.

Crown Princess Asuna held a series of livestreams over the past week to raise money for the victims and families of those impacted by the 6/29 terrorist attacks in Baarya which killed 92 people and injured many others. Joined by a cast of celebrities throughout the week, including Muse frontman Mathew Bellamy of Dartfordia, Dethklok frontman Nathan Explosion, Papa Emeritus IV of Ghost, and Hatsune Mikku (all from Rokkenjima) the Crown Princess raised over र750,000 ($1.38m) for the lives impacted by the terrorist attacks from donors across Rokkenjima. "I saw how all of you came together when terrorism targeted Tytor across the Straits, and how much good we did there in donating blood and other essential materials to help all who were harmed. Let us harness our potential for good and send it to our southern neighbours who are hurting, who are in need, and be there for them as they escape this shroud of darkness the cowards threw on them."

The livestreams included discussions between the Crown Princess and everyday Rokkenjimans, surprise releases of new material from Muse (who performed their newest single, Kill or Be Killed, on a livestream with the Crown Princess), a 26 minute live performance from Dethklok, a 58 minute set from Ghost in addition to a plea from Papa Emeritus IV for donations from fans of Ghost, and a special performance from Hatsune Miku with sales from the release of a recent single being dedicated to Phuebran victims alongside the funds raised by the Crown Princess. Crown Princess Asuna's efforts alone raised over र750,000 in direct aid for Phuebran victims and their survivors of the attacks, while final figures on the efforts of the involved artists have yet to be determined. The Crown Princess declared the livestreams a success and smiled as she said, "When they struck you we were all Phuebrans, the cowards hit at all of us. Today, while it may not solve every issue, we've given to those most impacted by the actions of cowards and given them breathing room, renewed opportunities and, I hope, some sense of hope for the future. Our efforts will not stop here, Rokkenjima will continue to support Phuebra as it reconciles these heinous attacks and continues the path of healing. We're by your side, Phuebra, and we love you."

Saisei Holds 75% Favourability Rating, 90% Would Support Return


The favourability rating of the Saisei Empress has eclipsed that of her successor, which stands at 61%.

In a series of polls conducted following the departures of Daitō and Achkaerin from the Cross-Straits Community Empress Evanthe has suffered an errosion in her support, falling from 84% approval at the beginning of the year to 61% presently. Meanwhile, Empress Saisei has seen her approval rating improve to 75%, with 90% saying they would support her return to Chrysanthemum Throne "if the conditions allowed for it." Respondents believe that the Saisei Empress would do a better job than Empress Evanthe in navigating this period of Rokkenjiman history, with blame for the troubles of the Cross-Straits Community falling largely upon Empress Evanthe despite Princess Kyōko  (who holds a 83% approval rating) hosting the Summit. Many believe that the past diplomatic successes of Empress Evanthe have not translated from her previous position as Vicegerent and believe she would serve Rokkenjima better as a diplomat versus as Empress.

Crown Princess Asuna has been a fierce defender of her mother's legacy, she shared with the RBC. "We talk as often as opportunities arise, we exchange emails and, for those who have questioned her current mental capacities, she still receives the Daily Intelligence Assessment and shares commentary with me. I'm touched that so many Rokkenjimans still stand by her side, share their concerns for her well-being, and truly miss her. I told her I would be speaking with the RBC concerning these developments and she wished to let everyone know that the support you all share is something which she never takes for granted, that she loves her People and Empire, and that her service to you remains the greatest honour of her life. She added that, if the cards could be dealt differently, she would without hesitation return to the Throne to finish the work that was cut tragically short." Following our brief interview the Crown Princess left us with a statement which the Saisei Empress included in her most recent email.

"First allow me to thank my daughter, my beautiful Asuna, for allowing me the opportunity to connect with you all once again. I know that I have been absent for quite some time, however, not for one moment has Rokkenjima or my People ever left my thoughts. It has been a difficult chapter in our history as of late, what, with missed opportunities and at times cruelty from Chrysanthemum Throne driving those lost opportunities. When Rokkenjima dedicated itself to the MAEA it was toward building an organisation that accepted nations regardless of political relationships, an open institution for the betterment of the whole of Mundus. Never, never, never should Chrysanthemum Throne engaged in slinging cruel words toward another nation simply in the quest to host the MAEA. Hosting was never the point, the success of the institution was paramount and instead of seeing things in that light we saw Empress Evanthe tear Lijiang down, disparage a fellow Ardian nation and for what? We won the rights to host the MAEA while at the same time condemning the MAEA to irrelevancy because people will, rightfully, question the political biases of the MAEA and frame it as just another game in the long series of games between the larger powers of Mundus. While there is little I can do, should the People of Lijiang read this, this is not the legacy I wished for Rokkenjima. Empress Evanthe was wrong to disparage you as she did and if I were on the Throne I would have welcomed your energy, spirit and commitment to the vision of the MAEA and would have had zero ill feelings if Lijiang had been selected to host it.

The unraveling of the Cross-Straits System is also something that should never have happened. When I reformed the Cross-Straits Treaty Organisation, joined by our longstanding allies, I never intended for it to sit stagnant and rely upon past glories to justify its reformation. There is so much I wished to do with the CSTO, from being an active player in diffusing crises to helping the most vulnerable amongst us in any situation, whether it be man-made or natural, to growing the bonds our nations shared to realize even greater levels of cooperation, research, friendship and advancement. I wish I could have worked with Prime Minister Heishi, while a relatively new face to such a role I see much potential in his future and wish him only the best. I'm confident there is much we would agree upon and even more we could have accomplished together.

While I never had a chance to speak on it, the manner in which Rokkenjima has treated the Heyran Republic since my departure has been downright appalling. Never would I have dreamed that it would be possible for Rokkenjiman forces to fire their weapons upon Heyran soil yet, most sadly, I had to read about it as it happened without the power to do anything to stop it. What in the hell happened that one of our most stalwart friends and allies have been cast as some villainous force, with the Imperial Government apparently drumming up fear to the point where my People believe the Heyran Republic is some sort of threat? The Heyrans are no threat to us, anyone who believes that poppycock is a fool, and I am outraged at what Rokkenjima has done to the Heyran Republic. The actions which Empress Evanthe has taken against the Heyran Republic are beneath the dignity of Chrysanthemum Throne and I am only reassured that some presently in the Imperial Government see the folly in these actions. I left you with a vibrant relationship only for it to be drowned and for what? What have you gained from the petty campaigns against the Heyran Republic? I look forward to these mistakes being rectified, and to measures suggested which would see checks upon the ability of military actions beyond cases of the defense of the First Empire or our allies, because none of this would have happened under my rule.

My time is not long today, though I will be in touch again when the time permits, so allow me to say that while bittersweet, to know that Kyōko is my sister explains so much. Our bond was always deep, we called each other sisters already, so I think in that way we knew that we shared a special bond. She's certainly proved Anselmo blood flows through her veins with the excellence she has shown toward her Imperial duties and I thank her for, in a way, she's picking up on work I'm presently incapable of addressing personally. I hope all Rokkenjimans continue to keep the faith, to stand proud and tall, and to remember that this period will be temporary; things are always darkest before dawn. Until we shall have this opportunity again, may Islyna keep you and your loved ones in good health and happy spirits. Tomorrow belongs to us."

In other developments Pyrena Castle has confirmed following consultation with Crown Princess Asuna and the Imperial Government, that the Enthronement is to be postponed until a more appropriate time. Diplomats currently within Rokkenjima will be given a chance to stay and engage with talks geared toward the future, and an introduction to the future Rokkenjiman Empress.

Malfunctioning Military Satellite Destroyed


IRN Pride of Lydcaer launched the Nagareboshi missile which destroyed a malfunctioning military satellite.

As per prior notice provided by the Imperial Government a malfunctioning Rokkenjiman military satellite was successfully destroyed by the Nagareboshi missile launched from IRN Pride of Lydcaer. Imperial High Command relayed developments and potential warnings to all nations in the region as Operation Midori Ryū proceeded, declaring an "all-safe" at 11:57 Ardian Standard Time. "Remei-9, a malfunctioning military satellite which had for the past several months been in a rapidly decaying orbit, has been destroyed following a successful launch of the Nagareboshi missile from Pride of Lydcaer. This satellite no longer poses a threat to life or property to the Peoples of Midaranye and the Rus region. Every aspect of the operation proceeded as planned, and Imperial High Command declares the removal of this satellite a success."

While the Empire of Daito called Operation Midori Ryū an "anti-satellite weapon test" and Ui Cenneslaig stated its concerns as to the Kessler Syndrome Imperial High Command stated that "this mission, from the ground up, was designed to limit the impacts of debris upon our own and other space-fairing nations concerns in space. Present estimates by both IHC and ISEA indicate that, within a year, debris from this removal will have been removed from space. The Rokkenjiman action has, in all stages, been designed to minimize the generation of debris, and that debris which has been generated will exit orbit within a year based upon our calculations. As soon as we calculated that the risks posed by debris were as minimized as possible IHC moved forward with this operation."

Grand Marshal Alex Rowe stated he had no regrets in conducting the operation once it had received the green-light from Chrysanthemum Throne. "While we appreciate the concerns shared, and recognize the allegations thrown at us from our neighbours in Daito, we took the most responsible course of action to ensure one of our malfunctioning satellites did not harm peoples in the Midaranye and Rus regions. I have no regrets in protecting lives and property wherever they may exist upon Mundus, and I am sure the Peoples of those regions will appreciate us in taking responsibility for this failed satellite. We considered many options and this, in no way, represents a test of an anti-satellite weapon as stated by our counterparts in Daito. I, for one, am grateful for the successful outcome of this operation and our capacity to ensure the safety of lives here upon Mundus."

Imperial Government Preparing For Changes Under Crown Princess


The Crown Princess has shared her interests in moves away from "Ardianization" of Rokkenjima. One such move would be a proposal to transfer back to the Imperial Palace, also in Pyrettania, which had served as the seat of Imperial power since the days of the Empire of Azukishima.

In meetings between the transition team which will guide the transition of Rokkenjima into a new era the Imperial Government is reportedly eyeing a return to the Imperial Palace as the official residence of the Imperial Family and seat of Imperial power. Also known as Shirasagi-jō (White Heron Castle), due to its lustrous white exterior and its purported resemblance to a bird taking flight, the Palace fell out of use and grew to a state requiring extensive repairs, especially following the Federal Republic. While the Imperial Palace has been declared restored in 2017 the Imperial Government continued to utilize Pyrena Castle, a former residence of an Ardian noble, largely upon the insistence of the Saisei Empress as "the only place I have grown to call home." The move apparently comes at the request of the Crown Princess who has repeatedly visited the Palace since her first visit.

The Imperial Palace traces its roots to a fort constructed upon Tachijō Hill, which was dismantled and rebuilt as a castle in 1346. Then known as Tachijō Castle it was significantly remodeled two centuries later by Empress Akira who would add a three-story keep to the Castle. As one of the few areas remaining under Azukishiman control during the Royal Provinces era, Empress Akira utilized it as her bastion and took in several citizens from across Azukishima Isle, taking refuge behind the walls of the Castle. Between 1609-1621, during a quiet period in the Azukishima-Ardia struggle, Empress Akira would completely rebuild it, transforming it into a large castle complex. Several buildings were later added to the Castle complex, some of which are utilized by portions of the Imperial Government whilst others on the grounds of the Palace stand vacant. For nearly 700 years the Imperial Palace has remained intact, even evading destruction during the Great Patriotic War, the Republican Era, and the Second Patriotic War, after which it would be restored to its former glory.

The Imperial Palace is the largest castle in Rokkenjima and has been designated as a Significant Historic Site, while five structures of the Palace are also designated National Treasures. The restoration work took great care in the preservation of the buildings of the Palace, with decades of grime and dirt being removed to restore the formerly grey roof to its original white colour. As per the request of the Crown Princess the work of her office, and those preparing to be members of her Imperial Government, have begun operating from offices upon the grounds of the Palace. Furthermore, embassies currently located close to Pyrena Castle in the Mount Shizuka District to those buildings presently vacant on the outer grounds of the Palace.

Restoration work included efforts to prepare the Palace for a possible return of the Imperial Government, which could come as soon as the next few years. Pyrena Castle will remain a possession of the Imperial Family, with some sources indicating it would serve as a residence for Emperor-Emeritus Alex.

Growing Challenges To Empress Evanthe Emerge Following Saisei Empress' Remarks


Empress Evanthe faces her most crucial political test as opposition rises in Rokkenjima following statements from the Saisei Empress.

With the approval ratings of Empress Evanthe falling following remarks from the Saisei Empress, and the missteps which have been highlighted by Princess Kyōko in relation to the downing of a failing Rokkenjiman military satellite, the political winds within Pyrettania seem to be shifting. With an approval rating of 83% Princess Kyōko has become the most trusted Anselmo, with a majority of Rokkenjimans supporting a Kyōko Regency until the Crown Princess reaches the age of majority required to formally rule in her own right, a period of four years at present. Rokkenjimans cite the successful rule of Princess Kyōko over the Rishiri Imperial Overseas Dependency, her demeanour, and her similarities to the Saisei Empress. If a referendum on the matter were to be held tomorrow 84% of respondents to an RBC poll indicated they would vote in favour of Princess Kyōko serving as Regent over Empress Evanthe, who is slated to become Regent upon the Enthronement of Crown Princess Asuna.

Factors contributing to the faultering support for Empress Evanthe include the recent utilization of a missile to remove a failing satellite from orbit, the troubles at the Cross-Straits Community, a stagnating foreign policy initiative, and a failure of expectations versus results in the transition from Vicegerent to Empress. "Many within the Imperial Diet are preparing for a scenario which would see not Empress Evanthe, but Princess Kyōko serving as the Crown Princess' Regent," one member of the Diet shared in exchange for confidentiality. "No one denies the successes of the Empress as a diplomat, but combining the duties of Empress and serving as the Head of State and Government of Rokkenjima always presented issues which have rendered her previous diplomatic successes, a diplomatic career still worthy of praise however, as moot. We are actively preparing for Princess Kyōko to fill the void, should it come to that point."

Empress Addresses The Empire


The Empress addressed the Empire in light of political discontent.

Thank you all for joining me this evening.

In the past few days we have seen a wave of discontent that has seemingly manifested itself overnight. Yet, I would argue, that is not the case before us; whether they be domestic or foreign in nature we have seen a concerted effort to attack and discredit Chrysanthemum Throne that far exceeds anything we have seen in modern history. Let us begin with the stated issues, the first of which are the launch of the Nagareboshi missile to eliminate all possible threats posed by the failing Remei-9 satellite. This is a maneuver which Rokkenjima has utilized with great success before, and it was moved forward upon by and with the advice of Imperial High Command due to the threats posed by the satellite in question and the security issues of allowing unauthorized contact with the satellite, whether that be by those lacking such clearances in Rokkenjima or the utilization of foreign platforms to effect its return otherwise. This decision was taken with the utmost care and attention to detail and there comes times where as Empress you have to make difficult decisions with the information available to you.

In future incidents we have laid the framework for alternative methods to be employed through the formation of the Imperial Rokkenjiman Space Section. This subset of the Imperial Rokkenjiman Armed Forces will have but one purpose: utilizing Hakken to retrieve failing Rokkenjiman assets in space or, when recovery is not an option, developing manners in which to effect their safe re-entry into the atmosphere of Mundus. This is a solution which has my fullest support, and one which addresses the concerns raised by Princess Kyōko in our discussions on the matter. We will, naturally, work and cooperate with our partners in the shared heritage which is space to ensure that the ideals of the OSSC are always at the very heart and core of all Rokkenjiman space operations.

Furthermore, we see in the continued efforts of Princess Kyōko a new future for the Cross-Straits System, one which she will share as her work continues. Discussions continue with our counterparts in the international community and I remain confident that those discussions will bear fruit. It was never going to be an easy task following the Saisei Empress, which is why I stood up when the moment came to ensure that foundation upon which the Crown Princess shall build her reign is solid, stable and positions her best for success. While it may be easy for some to lay the totality of blame before Rokkenjima in regards to the events which led to the destruction of QAMB one need only to review transcripts and the chain of events to see that this was not some malicious operation, but one which preserved Rokkenjiman national security and prevented a scenario which could have seen bullets fly between the forces of Rokkenjima and Heyra.

While I understand that the Saisei Empress and myself may have differing views on the prior Rokkenjiman-Heyran relationship that specific Treaty would have, eventually, spelled the end of our relationships with Achkaerin, Tytor and quite possibly East Moreland had we prioritized and maintained it. This is a Treaty which was entered into against the fierce objections of the Vicegerent, discounting his geopolitical and foreign affairs insight in the pursuit of resurrecting QAMB and forcing Rokkenjima back into the Illumic against the wishes of many Peoples and Governments. In that pursuit there is much she traded off, and we are stronger today with the demise of that Treaty. While the relationship may have appeared to be strong, in truth, it only remained strong as the ambitions of the Saisei Empress and her Heyran counterparts were fulfilled. It was a bad deal for Rokkenjima and while the terms upon which the Treaty ended were unfortunate, it should never have been signed in the first place. We also have trust in  our military commanders to make difficult decisions in the heat of the moment without a moment of hesitation and, in that moment, I retain my full belief that Rear Admiral Forrester served in her duties with decisiveness, dedication and honour. We must also remember that the specter of slavery hangs over Heyra, and while I share the hopes of the Princess that this specter may one day be dispelled, we must operate under the facts which exist at present. Until such a day Heyra satisfactorily puts these notions to rest the attention of the First Empire and her allies shall not let up, not upon Heyra and not upon those who do business with the Republic.

I respect why many love the Saisei Empress, I love her as she is my family, but there is a reason why she is no longer on Chrysanthemum Throne and it's a reason she, herself, recognized. Her resignation was not forced, coerced, or in any other manner a decision that was not of her sole volition. Indeed, I was surprised when I was informed of the decision she had made and the plans for me to assume the Throne to ensure the Crown Princess could continue as normal a childhood as possible. She recognized that she was not the right ruler for Rokkenjima any longer and stood down, perhaps best exemplifying her duty to the Empire by recognizing when it was time to step aside. While we all can see the issues the Saisei Empress faced, and recognize her failings, we can do that while honouring her successes and the good that she did for Mundus during her Reign. That being said we must also continue our march forward, we cannot and should not clamour for the return of the past and should instead look to the world we, together, can build.

I invite you all to join me in that pursuit, to help me lay the strongest of foundations for the Crown Princess, through continuing to support the work of the Imperial Government. Now is not the time to give into the temptation of fermenting instability, as that is a state of affairs which benefits only the interests of a select few beyond our borders. Princess Kyōko is a firm partner in our joint pursuits and has shared her belief that she is nowhere prepared to serve as Regent, however, she is prepared to serve as my Councillor for Foreign Affairs, a position I take great pleasure in bestowing upon her. As she shared with me before speaking with you all, 'We are all in this together, and there is no one individual prepared for this era than you. I refuse any notion of myself serving as Regent and continue to support you without doubt. For the Crown Princess, we are stronger together.' There is no disunity within Pyrena, and while the Saisei Empress may have other ideas for the First Empire we've been there, we've tried them and, beyond the era of turmoil with the United Soviet Russia, they no longer work. We will move forward together, as one First Empire, and we shall not fail in the task before us.

Police Suppress Toshikawan Riots In Luca


Riots in the port city of Luca, Ecskana Prefecture, were suppressed by the Port Luca Police Special Unit.

Riots which began in the mid-morning hours by Toshikawans living in the city of Luca have been suppressed by the Port Luca Police Special Unit by 9:45 PM. Those involved damaged many businesses in the city, hampered operations of the port by blocking roads and throwing what they had in hand at trucks while a Rokkenjiman flag was desecrated. Initial investigations into the riot indicate that much of the planning had taken place online with communications between the Toshikawan diaspora in Luca and those in Toshikawa itself. A campaign designed to whitewash Toshikawan actions in the Andean Genocide accompanied their physical actions, with those involved desiring to lay blame for the actions of Toshikawa upon the First Empire. Attempts by the rioters to overtake the facilities of the Port itself were thwarted by on-site security and Ecskana Prefectural Police.

"The Imperial Government condemns the violent actions taken by indivuduals of the Toshikawan diaspora community in Port Luca. Each act of violence, each act of desecration against the sacred symbols of the Rokkenjiman Empire, and each instance of genocide denial and revision undertaken today are being investigated and those individuals responsible will soon see the full force of justice bear down upon them. It is concerning to the Imperial Government that these individuals were in contact with those within Toshikawa, and we will be investigating whether these reprehensible acts were incited by the Toshikawan Government, or at the behest of that Government." A curfew has been instituted in Port Luca for the next few days while lawmakers are considering a variety of measures to respond to the riots.

"Civilized people do not behave in this manner, and should this prove to be a lingering threat we are prepared to lay a framework for Toshikawans living in Luca to be repatriated. The events we have seen today cannot be repeated," Speaker Katsuhiko Sugano said in remarks to the RBC. Meanwhile INIS Director Tamaki Kado stated that the Service was investigating alleged foreign ties to the riots, "The Toshikawans have had great difficulty in accepting responsibilities for their past actions though, perhaps, it could also be a vehicle of revenge on the part of the Empire of Daitō in response to their perceived grievances with the First Empire, all angles will be investigated." Those who are inevitably charged and found guilty are expected to face upwards of 3 years in prison.

Crown Princess Meets With Whaling Advocacy Group


The Crown Princess spent a portion of her weekend visit to Rokkenjima understanding the position of Rokkenjiman whaler communities.

While memories of Rokkenjiman opposition to the whaling ventures of other nations remains fresh in the mind of our cultural remembrance Crown Princess Asuna met with families who hold ties to Rokkenjima's past association with whaling. During her meeting with the Cultural Preservation Community the Crown Princess listened as countless matriarchs and others shared their family histories which documented centuries of Rokkenjiman whaling, citing the very word of Islyna in its sanction at times. "Islyna gave us a mandate to maintain the harmony of the seas," one woman shared with the Crown Princess, "hunting the largest of creatures as Her gift to Her chosen to keep our bellies nourished throughout the cold winter months until Her pollinators could bring us the fruit which springs forth from blossoms once again. Our hunters never took more than the seas could give, and the associations the Saisei Empress drew toward those whalers in NA were most undeserved. They have demonstrated that the Alucard for one has an abundance of Pilot whales. It is clear that whaling can thus be conducted both humanely and sustainably. It was not until the Ardian campaigns in Rokkenjima that we saw our People swayed from the promise of Islyna to feed us through the winter months, leading our nation to spew countless carbons into the atmosphere to import additional resources to feed our people, replacing Islyna's mandate with foreign imports."

The Crown Princess said she would share her "insights and lessons with the Imperial Government, after which a decision shall be made regarding Rokkenjiman policy in this area. It is clear that we have many people who believe our policies toward whaling have been overbearing, especially as we now possess tools to monitor the impact of whaling upon native populations and the environment at large, and I do not believe Islyna would make any promise she is incapable of keeping, both to Rokkenjima and to the natural world. We should revisit these policies as well as what they mean to the Rokkenjiman People, and answer it with the science on the matter. Not all whaling is decimating, and as we've seen the needle of Islyna points toward harmony between human and nature always, so why not trust her guiding arrow? So long as we conduct ourselves responsibly Islyna has proven that the actions of human hands can live in harmony with her grand designs so long as we do not grow greedy. This is an area which I will seek for the Imperial Government to conduct studies on and, if it is proven viable, we may see permits issued for Rokkenjimans to once again set to the seas as their ancestors did to reap the bounty Islyna provided for them."

Rokkenjiman Embassies And Consulates Raise Pride Flag In Daitō


Empress Evanthe spoke of the challenges facing those in Daitō and offered her "total support in this fight for equality."

Following a ruling that the prohibition on same-sex marriage in Daitō is not unconstitutional Empress Evanthe has offered her "total support in this fight for equality." Speaking from Pyrena Castle the Empress stated that the resources allocated to the Consular Marriage and Adoption Program (CMAP) remain "at the full disposal of citizens across Mundus who face discrimination from their own government. It is near unfathomable to think that, in the year 2022, issues such as same-sex marriage are seen as controversial, especially in a nation as developed as Daitō. While the Court has issued their ruling on this matter I do not believe it is the final word, ultimately, in the struggle for equality we see in Daitō. Until such a time marriage equality exists in Daitō and this sort of discrimination is put to a halt Rokkenjima shall be willing to provide refuge and, through CMAP, provide the rights and services their very government is so unfortunately willing to withhold from them."

Rokkenjima has long been an outspoken voice on LGBTQ+ rights inaugurating the Consular Marriage and Adoption Program nearly a decade ago. "While these rights have long been enjoyed by the People of Rokkenjima it is so crucially important to defend our values, as well as the dignity of LGBTQ+ community abroad, at moments such as this where our principled example could make a significant difference and a meaningful contribution to a fight for equality which is far from over. While Daitō apparently looks upon this matter with a timetable of months I look upon it as an issue to act upon today, in this very moment as we speak. While it is most certainly not a solution to the issues faced by LGBTQ+ citizens of Daitō it is the very least which we can do to offer some manner of relief to the individuals and families impacted by this disgraceful decision."

CMAP allows Imperial consulates and embassies to wed same-sex couples while assisting with adoption services where such options are not available or recognized under local law via a form of honorary citizenship which entitles holders these rights as Rokkenjiman citizens. While not conferring additional rights of Rokkenjiman citizenship CMAP allows for an expedited process for full Rokkenjiman citizenship and eased requirements for residency for those facing discrimination in their nation of origin. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs states that it has enabled marriages and adoptions which would otherwise have been impossible due to lingering discrimination in certain pockets across Mundus, adding "our work is not over yet. While we have seen the need for these services elsewhere throughout Mundus it is saddening that they are needed right in our own back yard. It is our hopes that Daitō will make the right choice in recognizing the rights of all its citizens and disavow the shame of discriminating its own citizens."

Imperial Standard Oil Offers Discounts


With the sanction of the Imperial Rokkenjiman Government the Imperial Standard Oil Corporation has offered a $20 per barrel discount on oil for those consumers switching from OPEN oil sources.

The Imperial Standard Oil Corporation (ISOC) announced today a discount to foreign consumers of oil and petroleum products a discount of up to $20 per barrel of oil if they switch to the ISOC for their oil needs. "While we recognize the need for a switch to sustainable resources for energy we recognize this is not attainable for all nations," a spokesperson for ISOC shared with the RBC. "At the same time, we recognize these consumers may be concerned where their energy comes from, and we are prepared to fill that void. As the domestic Rokkenjiman market continues to transition to renewables we have a surplus of oil and its bi-products, and are looking to foreign markets to solve this imbalance. Through a subsidy, we are able to offer our oil and bi-products at a $20 per barrel discount to new and existing customers for petroleum products."

With crude oil at record highs the ISOC expects increased demand from its production in the Rokkenjima Sea and has added additonal production facilities to handle this increased demand. "We stand ready to fulfill all orders and provide a guilt-free solution to energy procurement decisions," one ISOC spokesperson was quoted as saying.

Referendum Results Challenged By Attorney For The Crown

With new information the Attorney for the Crown has thrown into question the Referendum which saw all executive power turned over to the Crown.

Attorney for the Crown Lucius Stanley has turned over information to the High Courts which draws into question the results of a Referendum which saw the powers of the Office of the Premier rendered to the Empress. "The evidence I have seen suggests foul play, though not at the hands of the Crown," Stanley stated to the RBC. "The Crown has long disdained the exercise of its powers beyond those to support a functioning democracy and has disavowed absolute power as best exampled by the Saisei Empress' pursuit for greater powers of the elected government. We hope to reach the source of this usurpation of the will of the People to ensure that our course is guided always toward a greater democratic government, as was the will of Empress Saisei. Yet the evidence paints to a source within the Imperial Government which was against that intent. My Office intends to find that source and extinguish it, and restore us to the path Empress Saisei saw for this nation."

Supreme Court Of Judicature Invalidates Premier Removal Referendum


The Supreme Court of Judicature has ruled that the Office of the Premier was abolished under false pretenses and must be restored.

Following a court case which captured the attention of the whole of the Empire the Supreme Court of Judicature has ruled to invalidate the April 2020 Referendum which saw the abolition of the Office of the Premier. "The Attorney for the Crown has presented sufficient evidence that there were several irregularities in the conduct of the Referendum, enough to cast doubt that the Rokkenjiman People made an informed decision on the subject of the Referendum. For these reasons it is the ruling of the SCJ that the April 2020 Referendum be invalidated and mandates that the Office of the Premier be reinstated at the start of the new year. This ruling gives the Imperial Government ample time to prepare for this transition, and to organize elections which are to be held no later than April of next year."

In related developments Charles Foster Ofdensen, who is filing appeals on the rulings against him in connection to the Andean Genocide has announced his intent to run. "I was there when the unfortunate events in Pyrettania allowed for atrocities to be committed against the people of Nueva Ardia. We need a counterweight to the power of the Crown, as evidenced by the manipulation of the Rokkenjiman People in voting for the abolishing of the Office of the Premier in the first place. I intend to do as I always have, lend my service to the People of Rokkenjima and ensure their voice is heard loud and clear in Pyrettania. Together, we will reclaim the mandate and see that those who sought power at the expense of our People are held to full account."

Pyrena Castle, meanwhile, issued a statement slamming the words of Charles Ofdensen as "not existing in the basis of reality. We have established that there were irregularities over the course of a thorough investigation however that source did not emanate from the Crown. As our investigation continues we will remain open and transparent with the Rokkenjiman People and, once we have built a case through sufficient and irrefutable evidence, we will see that those who manipulated the democratic processes of Rokkenjima will face the full extent of the law. Until then, Mr. Ofdensen would do well to tamper down his rhetoric which amounts to little better than conspiracy theories."

IRN Orders Two 20,000 Ton Missile Defense Ships

The Ministry for Defense has proposed the construction of a pair of ballistic missile defense ships, a spokesperson for the Ministry said earlier today. The Ministry for Defense listed design expenses and engines for two ICON BMD vessels amongst 100 other items requested that did not have a specific cost at the time of the budget rollout as a part of its FY23 budgetary request. The Ministry for Defense has requested र218.9bn ($405bn) in spending for the next fiscal year which exceeds FY22 spending of र218.3bn (403.8bn).

The two vessels will be built instead of further land-based installations, furthering the capabilities of Rokkenjiman missile defense and introducing more flexibility to the overlapping systems. "In view of the cost and time for deployment, and the expanding capabilities of foreign states, we believe that a flexible platform is the best answer to Rokkenjima's continued needs in missile defense. Furthermore, the ability to deploy these vessels, as opposed to the fixed nature of yet more ground-based installations, allows for the Rokkenjiman defensive umbrella to be extended wherever it is needed, including in the defense of our friends and allies," Minister for Defence Rei Katayama said to the RBC.

The two destroyers are expected to have a displacement in the neighbourhood of 20,000 tons with a length of 690 feet and a beam of around 130 feet. In comparison the Megitsune Class carriers have a displacement of 19,800 tons (27,000 tons with a full load) and a length of 800 feet and a beam of 124 feet. The Kashiwa Class Destroyer, meanwhile, has a displacement of 8,200 tons and a beam of 72.8 feet.

The ships shall have a crew of 110 personnel with accommodations being enhanced to allow for long-term deployments on station around Rokkenjima. The first ship is expected to be commissioned in 2027 with the second following not far behind in 2028. In a news conference earlier today Minister for Defence Rei Katayama stated that the two ships would unshackle at least 8 of the IRN's present destroyers from BMD duties which would allow them to be utilized in deterrence operations as well as deployments across Mundus. The new platform will also bring higher interception capabilities to the field in contrast to existing capabilities, including the ability to intercept hyper-sonic glide weapons.

The acquisitions will come after the delivery of five further Serranidae Class Submarines expected in the coming weeks, with the two new destroyers entering service after the Azukihima Class SSBNs, while an additional two Millennial Class ballistic missile submarines begin conversion into Sovereign Class SSGNs.
