To:- His Holiness the Archbishop of the Blood

I am writing to you to inform you of the tragic death of Bishop Quintius Piovene, the leading Bishop of the Christian Prophets in the Allied States of Ardia. While our faith lacks the support of the vast majority of the people here our community is close knit and supportive of each other. While we number perhaps less than 70,000 individuals we are determined to continue to spread the truth of our faith and submit ourselves to the tradition that the holder of your title select the new Bishop to lead our nations true faithful. I am also writing to you to ask that you visit us in person and present the Bishop with his vestments thus giving our faith a much needed spiritual uplift while helping draw the media's eyes towards our Church family. It would mean a great deal to us here for you to visit in person and bless us with your guidance.

Your Servant in Faith

Chief Steward of the Christian Prophets in the ASA.

Diplomacy and Events / Talk of Troyes (Semi-Open....Ask Aosta)
« on: January 31, 2024, 09:46:23 PM »
To:- Her Imperial Majesty Empress Serena of Aosta

I am writing to you with no official capacity as such. It is safe to say you have done more than anyone to help push for the restoration of Troyes to the nation of Marseille however so far our joint efforts have yielded no results. I am therefore writing to you to inform you that many of us who carried the banner of Real Marseille throughout the conflict that ravaged here are determined that by the end of this year Troyes shall become free. While I am ready to dedicate myself fully to this goal no matter what personal cost I am also aware that the task before is monumental and we may lack the resources to see this task through. I would therefore be honoured if I can meet with you and discuss our plans and hopefully persuade you to continue your magnificent support for Troyes and the people there.

Deepest Respects
Jean-Pierre Cantona
Commander of Real Marseille.

Diplomacy and Events / Afolyan Invitation (Zimalia and Kermah)
« on: January 31, 2024, 09:35:09 PM »
To:- His Majesty King Tshepo

The people of the Afolayan tribe of Zimalia would like to ask for a meeting between our two people. Our tribe is the largest in the nation of Zimalia and we have several ties to your Kingdom as during the height of Seleucid slave trading many Zimalians who were liberated from captivity opted to find a home amongst your people in Kinjanja. While those ties between our people may have never become formal, nor can they now, we believe that it is important that we show both our gratitude and respect for those ancestors of ours your people so readily took in. We would like, if possible, to explore these connections and if possible establish cultural ties between us.

I hope that you will therefore permit me to visit your Kingdom and that we may meet to discuss these matters.

Yengwayo Thembelani
Elder of the Afolyan People.

To: His Majesty Emperor Malachi of Kodima

I am writing to you to seek a meeting regarding the continuing status of Kodiman troops within the Duchy.

I believe that it is important that we meet to discuss this arrangements future as over the last few years we have seen various changes to the geo-political nature of the region and our own nations own relationships.

It is my hope that we can meet in Jerusalem in the coming days.

Best Regards

Diplomacy and Events / Re: Building the Rogues
« on: January 28, 2024, 01:03:14 PM »
David was hopeful that even though he had expected this meeting to yield primarily economic boosts to East Moreland he now could see a glimpse of perhaps some kind of diplomatic success as well. "I had anticipated that you would perhaps also need help with your unit learning about some of the ways we use that equipment. While I'd be happy to consider some form of officer exchange or something along those lines. I have for you a proposal of sorts." The King was always keen to help out East Moreland businesses and while there were some very obvious ones that would likely benefit from what the King was going to discuss here today there was one that he would like to see get a little boost. "Sir Richard here retired from military service last year after several decades in our military, a great deal of them in our elite Red Legion. Today he runs a company providing training to people aboard ships travelling through some of Mundus most dangerous water ways, I suspect we could persuade him to do some of the work training this new unit if we can find a mutually agreeable arrangement. As for now I think it best Sir Harry begins a sales pitch."

There was a clearing of throats and a sip of water from Sir Harry Samuelson. "Thank you. If I may Your Highness" He slid a large screen tablet over to Maximus. "East Moreland prides itself at being very innovative when it comes to military technology, as a result however some of the vehicles and platforms its attached to tend to maybe be a little older than many nations but we have proved time and again that its what you do with the kit that matters. We have a choice of three tanks, our first two are heavy platforms, the MBT-1 is the older of the two and has had significant amounts of upgrades and additions. There are a fair few older ones out there in mothballs that we can find if need be. The MBT-2 is our 2nd tank and despite them being of a similar age the MBT2 has had slightly less upgrades. As a result we've a few less technologically upgraded 2's knocking around or of course you can have Henley build you them from scratch. I'd say for training purposes you're likely to get more bang for your buck from the MBT2, its use of an autoloader means less training for your military and as your limiting the size of these Rogues by number of men it'll mean you can field more. We also utilise a lighter tank called the Chameleon. " HE allowed the Regent and his delegation to look at the various specs and images.

"Now in terms of other armour we field just one types of IFV and a lighter recon vehicle. Our troops move around in our shiny new Bison mobility vehicle and supported by our SPH-8, the advantage there would be the SPH-8 ad the MBT1 have the same chassis so that may help your maintainence bill. With those you should be able to field a 500 man unit relatively easily." Sir Harry took the tablet back and pressed a few other icons before returning it the Maximus.

"In terms of an air arm we'd suggest you're more likely to want close air support so we've the old Dragonbane which is being phased out eventually so we've already a few mothballed. There is a newer version but I think for cost reasons you'd likely go retro. Much of its close air support duty has been passed onto the Firestorm which is simply a converted Puffin so perhaps a combination of the two would help save money. Helicopter wise we use the Super Lifter and as an attack helicopter the Raccoon. Hopefully that has wetted the appetite." Sir Harry sat back down rather proud of the military he helped oversee.

"We'd also make an introduction to the companies involved to help you sort out supply of spare parts, maintainence and the like but you should also consider contacting SmartWar as they do some great work on our upgrades and while some of their work for us is of course classified they can do some work to make the military as close to what we have as possible." David explained.

"We can arrange for you to go see any of this stuff in action." Brigadier Correy of Red Legion added knowing he'd got some boys keen to play with some of the toys.

Convention Centre / Re: Uunveiling The Vale - CETO Festival 2024
« on: January 28, 2024, 11:44:20 AM »
David was a little disappointed. He saw CETO as his first baby and as a result had been keen to display the unique Moreland love of punctuality however being married to a Lodjain was probably not a good way of maintaining such a thing. He was a little annoyed therefore to see not one, but two, delegations had arrived before him. While the rest however had made their way to find Lady Aurora David hadn't, he instead left that job to Henrietta Quinn who was his now Prime Minister but who 10 years earlier had helped him pen the first draft of this treaty. Henrietta waited her turn in line and then bowed to Aurora "Your Grace" she said with a smile. "I am afraid that the alure of the festival grounds was a little too much for King David and he's gone to ensure that the Morelanders there are getting things perfect. I am afraid that I have brought no gift to this reception as a thank you as His Majesty has something for you at the festival grounds.....or at least I believe thats the case. I do though wish to thank you for hosting this. I hope this symbolic city of yours becomes the great cultural hub that you are hoping. Its certainly an impressive beginning." She said as she made her way to one side to allow the next group to arrive.

At the festival grounds there was of course one place David wanted to go. "Good morning Max" the King said as he approached the small portable forge set up by the Royal Smith.

"Good morning Your Majesty" the stout 70 year old Max said as he unrolled a leather roll of tools. "You well I hope?"

"Excited" the King said as he gave the bellows a few pumps seeing the fire beginning to lose some intensity.

"We're not starting yet" Max said remembering how the King as a little boy had a habit of getting a little carried away around the forge. "I've that thing you wanted" He said removing a wooden box that was of seemingly no great significance from under a bench. He flicked the lid open and allowed the King to peer inside. The King patted him on the shoulder and smiled approvingly.

"They look good" David said picking up a half finished sword that had been sat on a workbench. "Whose is this?" David asked giving it a close examination.

"Your uncle actually." Max waited for the King to finish his examination. The King was very much a sub par smith despite having had numerous lessons and spent a great deal of time as a youth watching him work. Max however knew there was perhaps no-one on Mundus who knew more about the history of swords or on how to judge them as a youth David had been obsessed and had even used his position as a Prince to spend hours at the Museum of Blades in Northfort handling historic blades throughout the Kingdom and Mundus history. "Its a 30th birthday present for young Theo."

The King gave it a few swings. "You adding some more weight in the hilt?" The King asked looking down the length once more.

"Aye" Max confirmed taking the blade off the King before he could begin with anymore suggestions. "I was hoping to get some time in on it while giving the demos." Max was here as the centrepiece of East Moreland's offerings to the cultural festival. Surrounding his portable forge was a sword square where several youngsters from Sir Charles Townshend's Swordsmanship School were practicing. It was there that Rhiannon and Stasya were watching with Rhiannon literally shadowing the moves of the students as they lightly sparred. "She not getting in there?" Max laughed pointing at her.

"She would if I'd let her." The King surveyed the rest of the Morelanders there. A small fire saw a deer slowly being roasted while he could already smell the potatoes roasting. A tent constructed by a team lead by Jocelyn Hopkins, the leading artist of the Royal Household contained a kind of exhibition of art works from East Moreland and a second tent housed a more child friendly tent with actors and musicians using song and drama to bring alive many of East Moreland's favourite children's folkstories. David had half expected Rhiannon to head there as when they'd arrived he had heard them singing a song of the great Queen Rhiannon the Fierce whom she was named after however the clang of swords had been a much better sound to the young Princess.

David was a little disappointed to hear what Maximus had to say, "I'm going to have to be honest. I'm more than happy to work with you to come up with a plan to fulfil your needs in regards to this unit that you wish to put together. All arms sales from East Moreland based companies must have government approval. Last thing I want to see is an East Moreland Legionnaire coming up against the very weapons we sold someone. As a result Sir Harry here is under very strict instructions that approval will not be given to anyone who has failed to sign the Uppsala Convention. My approach to the document is that it won't ever have to be used against a Morelander as I would never give an order to contradict the principles of the convention and therefore any breach by a Legionnaire would be their doing and not the nations and as the document holds the perpetrator personally responsible then I would have zero concern, meanwhile my own nations military I would believe would handle his court case rendering intervention by any Uppsala mechanism irrelevant. Now on the proviso that this deal will not be completed until such a time as I see an Imperial signature on the document then we can continue. What exactly are you hoping to build in terms of this training unit?"

Stasya had tagged along with Ophelie and her elder sister Jasmina because she thought it would be an interesting experience, plus it meant a chance to enjoy a few nights out with her Lodjain friends. The morning that the accompanied Ophelie to the drop off she had opted to wear a pretty yellow dress ensuring it was something eye catching enough to get the attention that she craved. Naturally she knew the media would be interested in seeing the girls arrive and so of course it was important to look the part too. As Jasmina and Ophelie said their goodbyes it didn't take Stasya long to find some media types keen to talk.

"Your Majesty" A reporter yelled. "Why have you come here today?"

"Good Morning" Stasya smiled at the media. "I'm just here to support family friends." came the calculated response.

"You mean Lady Ophielie Danilov?" The reported followed up.

"Her and Neu Urburzis. Ophelie is a friend of the Pelagiya family and Neu Urburzis a friend of my East Moreland family. I know I speak for all of East Moreland when I say we're very fond of our rather unqiue relationship with Neu Urburzis. We're not truly allies, not in the sense most recognise the word, but we're nations that have taken a great deal of care to help and support the causes we all agree are important. Therefore the Kingdom cares deeply that your Emperor gets as happy a marriage as mine and Davids. Now I'm obviously going to say that it would be Ophelie who would make that happen. She's a beautiful Lodjain lady who understands how royal courts work and has already made a great contribution to several good causes that I think your Emperor would be excited to support himself. They'd make a great team."

"Will you be following the contest closely then Your Majesty" A second report called out.

"Of course. I intend to be here a few times in the coming months, we've fashion shows and the like coming up. I'm hopeful Ophelie does well and Angelika too. I just hope the people of Neu Urburzis grow to like them as much as I do. Now I'm sorry I must be leaving. Myself and Lady Jasmina have a dinner appointment with some dear friends to discuss some fashion week things." With that the duo returned to the waiting car and left hoping that in some small way Stasya may have helped the cause.

Diplomacy and Events / Re: Building the Rogues
« on: January 24, 2024, 09:28:39 PM »
The letter was one that surprised King David, he was aware several nations around the world did such a thing but he had not expected his own Kingdom to be used as the model for one such "enemy" force. On one hand he was rather proud of the way the Regent had spoke of his nations own military, especially as he himself had served with pride within its ranks. Naturally at first he was a little concerned about the arrangement but after meeting with his Minister of Defence Sir Harry Samuelson a strategy that the King was happy with had been put together. Following the King's response arrangements had been made for the Tanith Empires Regent to make his way to Ostlake. The city, which shared the name of the imposing glimmery blue lake upon whose northern shore it sat. The lake was huge, and the rive Ost which flew into it was navigable by the navies large vessels for part of the year and had a skilled helmsmen. Each of the cardinal points boasted a military establishment of such and a network of underground rail tunnels connected them. It would be to Ostlake East that the guests would be guided, the base there had an airfield where Ironside One, the Kings personal transport, was maintained. As a result of this base being selected to host the meeting it would be members of the Royal East Moreland Air Force (REMAF) who would be providing an honour guard for the regent and whoever else he had deemed to bring with him. The Morelander delegation was of course headed by the King and Queen with Sir Harry Samuelson keen to also be involved, the heads of each of the three branches of services were there too along with Brigadier Jim Corey who commanded Red Legion and rather oddly for such an occasion Sir Richard Kelly who had proceeded Corey as commander of East Moreland's elite but who now ran a company providing training for security forces such as those who accompanied shipping. As the Tanith aircraft came into land the band struck up the guests national anthem, this was the part of the day that was very routine. The aircraft would be shown to a terminal style looking building that normally was used to send troops off on their way across Mundus. Once it had stopped steps were pushed into place and with the strains of the Tanith anthem in the air the guests would descend to take their first steps on Morelander soil. The King made his way forward meeting the Regent half way down the inward facing lines of Airmen providing an honour guard by presenting arms. "Prince Maximus I'd like to welcome you and your people to East Moreland." He extended his right hand towards the regent. "This is my wife Queen Stasya."

"Its wonderful to meet you." She said with a smile. "I hope you've had a pleasant trip so far." She added before David introduced everyone else.

"Please come this way." David gestured for the regent to climb onboard one of the waiting open topped vehicles that awaited them. David turned and helped Stasya before clambering onboard himself. The vehicle was more often used to ferry pilots to the hangers at the far end of the runway when needed but today would act as a royal transport taking the two delegations first off the airfield and then through to the bases more business like area where the REMAF's prestigious Officer Training College was located. The little electric buggies stopped outside and the delegation got down and made their way inside where the scene revealed a large rectangular foyer with steps at the far left and far right leading up to the 2nd floor and creating a balcony effect. The floor was polished dark wood except for a large patterned blue carpet that dominated 3/4 of the floor space of the foyer leaving a wood border between the carpet and the walls. "I would ask you to not walk on the carpet" David stopped and almost whispered to the Prince and his people. "There is a tradition that only Air Force officers may walk on it." The King walked round the edges of the carpet before climbing the far left stairs and entering into one of the rooms on the second floor which was set up with a series of chairs either side of a rectangular desk, Stasya had left them at this point being more keen to take part in some PR event with some new graduates of the College. "Now I do have to say before we begin. East Moreland has a strict rule about military equipment sales, that is that we don't sell to nations that have not signed the Uppsala Convention. You must forgive me but I'm of the understanding you have not signed that convention. Our policy is well known so perhaps we can clear up that situation first?"

Convention Centre / CETO Festival 2024 Scholars Meeting
« on: January 16, 2024, 10:04:24 PM »
Professor Marcus Merriman made his way into the conference centre put aside for the Scholars meeting. A chance for those professors and their teams appointed to represent their nation. This was a kind of passing of a torch, while Marcus had been perhaps the most respected of East Moreland scholars for the past few decades he was reaching 80 years of age this year and while his passion for study had not slacked one bit his body was becoming more frail. Dr.Maddie Howard, one of his young protege's was alongside hi, providing not just moral support but also what Marcus referred to as "Logistical" support that being opening doors for him as he plodded forward with his two walking sticks, each carved out of deep aged wood and adorned with small shields nailed to the sticks showing places he'd visited. Marcus took a seat and then waited for all the other scholars to arrive. Once everyone was seated he stood.

"My fellow history geeks" he began with a smile "I am delighted to once again see you all. I am excited to see what, if any, matters people have to bring before us this year be it the inclusion of new sites for the register, the presentation of new papers or any other such matters. I believe the first issue on the table is about sites. I'm grateful that our colleagues from Daito have forwarded two sites. We shall obviously take them a site at a time." He shuffled some papers until Maddie handed him the correct one. He kept two copies and then passed them to his right. "Just like being in class, take one and pass them on" he explained as he continued to talk. "The first site we have is Hatsukaichi Peace Memorial. I'll give you a moment or two to consider any questions we have." He paused and had a quick rescan of the information they'd been given. "Any questions?" he asked the assembled group giving them a chance to scrutinise the delegation from Daito before a vote.

OOC- I suggest we have 48 hours real time (so 10pm UK time on Thursday) for people to post any questions for Daito. Should there be any then Daito can answer them and then we can look at a vote.

Freya waited for a few seconds. "I'll be asking Marissa to send her a speedy recovery." She paused once more. It was seemingly another example of how Rokkenjima wasn't truly itself anymore, while she understand Evanthe was essentially last Anselmo standing at this point in Freya's mind Evanthe was someone she associated more now with Seaforth than with Rokkenjima. Once you'd fought for another nation that would, as far as Freya believed anyway, be your homeland. "Lets be clear about something" Freya began "It should be sending some kind of alarm bell ringing the fact that within a short space of time after the Empress tried to end her life a delegation of Morelanders rock up at your Palace unannounced. Especially when that delegation is made up of me and a carefully selected entourage including the former C.O. of Red Legion" She glanced at Richard Kelly, formerly the Brigadier in charge of the nations elite. "Since when do I do embassy visits?" she shrugged her shoulders. "We knew something was happening with her, not exactly what, but we know. So perhaps lets drop all the pretence. I'm here because the Empress wants me here and I'm here to offer some time away from whatever it is she's dealing with. There is no accident in who I selected to accompany me, the boys here are as discreet as they come and we've Ironside One sat on a runway. No need for anyone other than our team. A few days of fresh Morelander air and an escape from the situation that exists here could do her wonders. My concern having gone first to your other home and discovered a justicar on gate duty is whose controlling the fall out." She paused for a few seconds and then having gauged the moment told Evanthe something she knew her brother would have volunteered himself.

"This is the first time someone outside high command has been told this. You'll remember the birth of Caspian and Rhiannon. In the days that followed Matilda was touch and go as to whether she would survive. My brother was heartbroken, add to that the fact that he'd just discovered his new born son was likely to die before his fifth birthday and that there was a chance that it was because of something in my brothers DNA. He had committed himself to raising the twins as much like a normal father as possible. It didn't go well. The worry about Matilda, the health of Caspian and the stress of being for that time a single father pushed him into a kind of isolation. What is also not public knowledge is he was for a time on medication for his mental health following the regency crisis. This was like the perfect storm and we actually had to stop him from trying to shoot himself. Tom there had to break down a door in Northfort Palace and he'll tell you himself that those things don't go down easily. In the days that followed he went off to the countryside and recovered with the help of a vast number of his friends.  I took the regency for two months. We've been here before. The best advice I can give you, don't hide her away from people who want to help. Not all help comes from experts and if you want to improve things then change needs to happen. We've a spot if she wants it." Freya concluded.

OOC- Follows this https://independentorder.net/index.php?topic=737.msg28523;topicseen#msg28523 - Castle on the Hill Vignette

As the e-mail pinged through David naturally was concerned. He picked up his phone and placed a call to his sister, who luckily was in Northfort. It was a short walk from the Princesses woodland clearing lodge to the Palace itself and Freya had not bothered smartening herself up from chopping some firewood with Alex. David had verbally outlined the message and now turned his screen to let his sister read it from off the monitor. "I've asking the ambassador to make contact but if something has happened then I think we may need you there?" David instructed his sister who began making her own phone calls.

An hour later Ironside One was taking off en route to Rokkenjima on the pretext of a visit to the embassy while heading to Abertone. Onboard was Freya, her Head of household Rebecca Jarrett and Sir Richard Kelly and Red Legionnaires Tom Saxby and Tristian Rowe. "Well this is nice" Saxby said as he took a seat in the lounge of the aircraft. He'd travelled once or twice on the aircraft but only ever in the security hub which while nice lacked the huge armchairs and plush carpets of the King's lounge. "Do you think your brother would mind if I take a dump in his en-suite......just like to say I have." Saxby asked Freya who was trying her best to work out what was going on at their destination.

"Tom, for once in your life don't be a savage." Rowe shook his head. "Just take a whizz, leave the solids for the crew bog." The pair snickered like little kids, they were still unsure why they'd been sent but had been instructed to dress smartly. So now they listened as Freya instructed them in what would happen when they landed.

Touching down the four of them had an embassy car waiting and the drive was dismissed leaving Saxby to drive. "Thank Helus we didn't bring Olly or we'd be costing the tax payer yet another gearbox" he quipped as he set off towards Pyrena. As they reached the gate Rebecca exited the car and made her way to the guard house. She flashed her ID as a member of both the East Moreland military and the diplomatic team.

"Good morning. We've Princess Freya here with us. She's visiting the embassy however when the Empress meet her at the world cup she said if the Princess was ever in Rokkenjima to stop by for some tea.....I suspect she'll be expecting the Princess." Rebecca responded.

NEW YEARS CONCERTS RAISE £6million

The annual Freestone New Years Eve street festival has confirmed that this year it has raised EM£6million. The annual event see's the city close its roads and set up a series of themed stages around the city to see in the New Year. This year most eyes were drawn to the newest stage which represented young people. The stage was located just inside the old city walls and saw six acts play throughout the day, all selected by young people from within the Kingdom aged under 14. The headline act was selected by Princess Rhiannon who had selected one of her favourite artists, Avirl Lavigne, to headline. The Princess also introduced the act saying that all monies collected during the performance would be donated to charities dealing with childhood lukemia and bone marrow donations both in East Moreland and Neu Urburzis. While he was not seen on stage Princess Rhiannon had invited Prince Augustin of Neu Urburzis to join her on stage however the youngster was apparently stage shy. The Princess said she was happy to introduce Lavigne as it meant she could "stay up past my bed time and listen to music really really loud." It was estimated that around £250,000 was collected during the hour long set. Following the performance Lavigne said "I loved performing. I've attended Freestone as a spectator several times but never performed. Now I get to headline. I'm thrilled it was also raising funds for such a good cause I just hope the Princess and her friends enjoyed the show."

On other stages acts such as 2Cellos, The Who and Freestone's own Billy Bragg were part of the perfomances. The King was in attendance as was Queen Stasya and several friends from Lodja. The Queen also hosted a small after party to raise funds for the Global Childbirth Initiative.

KING RESPONDS TO PRESS RELEASE

With the Empress of Rokkenjima releasing a statement effectively saying she had been coerced into making anti-East Moreland statements it was today the turn of the King of East Moreland to respond. The King was visiting the Temple of Jekar in Ostlake when approached by the media. The King said, "I appreciate the Empresses honesty and bravery. The statement though will on its own change little. If there are voices in Rokkenjima preaching anti-Morelander sentiments and that is against the Empresses own stance then I would suggest a line up change. Its like rowing a boat and the Empress must be coxon, if you've someone pushing their oar when they should be pulling you just go round in circles and make no progress. Just like a functioning government. As always East Moreland is committed to working co-operatively with any nation that shares our goals and ambitions. We will await further communication from the Empress once matters have been sorted."

The King has said that in the coming days he will be visiting Gusano in hopes of finalising some CETO business before hopefully hosting Eboricum.

David took a deep breath and was about to speak but then a nod of his head to his sister encouraged her to begin. "I'm flattered you think of me that way. You though need to remember, what you see is the carefully stage managed Malcolm Tucker version of a Princess. He'll likely throw around things like "Oh she was the first boot on the ground in the Safraen crisis" or something like that" she even put on a bad impression of Tuckers voice. "I was but it wasn't like I was there on my own, I had a squad of Red Legionnaires less than a heartbeat behind me. You see there is nothing special about doing what must be done. That said you have my phone number and you know where I live."

David let Freya say her piece and then stepped in. "Throughout my reign I've been here too often." He said rather matter of fact. "It seems almost a bi-annual thing where I meet a Rokkenjiman Empress who tells me they want us to work together, to be friends.....or even allies. I say the same thing that we're Morelanders and we believe in deeds not words. Then for a few weeks things are great, fast forward and here we sit." He shrugged his arms and sank back into his chair. "Half of me wants to speak to you like the teenager you are, but the problem is you're not a normal teenager. Viktoriya Tar, Klara, that weird kid from Jonathania, The Veiled One of Gusano all had power at the same age of similar to you. You're talking about badasses......Olivia Robertsson, a 19 year old medical student who hiked a group of survivors out of the UNP and to safety before finding herself stuck in a chemical leak she still has the scars from. I look at those people and then I think I have to ignore your age. We're not going to be allies. That's the short answer. You don't get to be placed on the same pedestal as the Cenneg, the Iwi and Lodja simply by asking. Hell you don't even play rugby well." David half smiled trying to find someway of softening his words. "I know the circumstances of your childhood perhaps mean you're lacking the traditional Rokkenjiman pre-reign education that most Empresses would have but so what. Lodja don't even have a royal family. Erin McGregor at 20 years of age catapulted a religion to a homeland, but thats a sore point. They are doing what must be done. You're not." He took another breath and reached down beside the sofa and picked up his trusty leather bound notebook. From his inside pocket he brought out his favourite pen, one gifted to him by the Queen of Sky Coast so many years ago, it had signed more treaties on Mundus than any other pen.

"You ever hear of the Spartan paradox? Its something I came across in my rehab." Suspecting Asuna hadn't he didn't wait for an answer and just continued. "It's a simple concept. If we say we're going to do something we make excuses, you know things like the diet starts tomorrow, well we all know tomorrow never comes. The Spartan paradox states that until you've put a date in your diary and a pin on your calendar its not real. So the idea is you set yourself a big challenge and then pick a sensible date. You then write it down. Suddenly its real and you can't put it off. You want to know how we fix this......we use the Spartan paradox." David began writing and after a few minutes ripped a page out of his notebook and handed it her.

Quote from: The Spartan Agreement

The Empress of Rokkenjima agrees to the following.

1. A statement shall be released clarifying her statements on East Moreland.

2. The Empress shall broaden her horizons. In order to do this she shall

a) visit a nation on each continent. (This may not be Daito or Achkaerin)
b) take part in a cultural event from another nation.
c) climb a mountain
d) visit Hygelac
e) complete a trek of at least 100miles.

3. Do something for a NGO.

4. Have created a formal treaty between Rokkenjima and East Moreland that is acceptable to both parties. This to be agreed and negotiated in Rokkenjima with no one who is not a Morelander or Rokkenjiman present. This may not include mutual defence nor shall it include base sharing.

"Its not going to guarantee us being best buddies, but if your going to be Empress of Rokkenjima for a long time, Gods willing, then I need you to be someone willing to say what you mean and mean what you say. I also want you to be someone whose experienced Mundus, for too long Rokkenjima has acted like the whole of Mundus is East Ardia. All you need to do to get the ball rolling is stick some dates down. Its unorthadox but I've tried formal treaties before with Rokkenjimans and they don't hold so we'll try something very different."

David, while not surprised, had hoped that Asuna would have brought someone without Evanthe's connections, her ties to both Seaforth and Emerson would in Davids mind perhaps muddy the waters. It was though perhaps an indicator of where David believed one of Rokkenjimans biggest problems lay. He took a seat in the gondala opposite Asuna and Evanthe once the airship got to an altitude. "I give you my word as a Rhodes!" David repeated Evanthe's words and shook his head sadly. "Why not the Seven Divines, why not Islyna? The fact we start off being asked to place weight on your word as anything other than a Rokkenjiman is for my a symptom of why we are here. Rokkenjima isn't Rokkenjima anymore. Its a nation controlled by its friends. Its a nation that seems more interested in Seaforth, in Achkaerin and even Daito to be itself. Evanthe I know you mean well but we've both been here far too many times before and been through this process too often. Stupidity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different outcome and we both know neither of us are stupid."

The King turned to face Asuna "You want to know how you make things right and how to heal a divide? The issue comes down to what you are actually capable of doing. The fact we've had to go to these lengths to even get a meeting where you can speak openly should tell you my big issue. If we'd gone through normal channels we'd have had some security detail lurking from Achkaerin, or if it was planned no doubt we'd have had some input from other voices, many of whom aren't Rokkenjiman. So the issue we have is not what we would like you to do it is what you are capable of?"

David allowed Stasya and Henrietta to go ahead of him as they approached where the food was as expected his wife selected very little of the fried food ever mindful of her figure, Henrietta shared non of those qualms. David meanwhile was only too happy to indulge. "Do you think I could get a piece of the Cod and the Halibut, beer batter on both please." He asked hopeful that the chef may allow him a liberty. He chatted with the cadet while the chefs plated up his food and thanked him for carrying the plate for him as he took a seat next to his wife and the Prime Minister.

"Its not exactly elegant" Stasya whispered as she picked up a fork to try a tiny morsel of the peas. She seemingly approved and then tried a bit of the batter. "Not elegant but nice" She concluded with a nod.

"Well no stealing any of my chips when you've finished yours" David smiled as he simply picked up a chip with his fingers, dunked it in his peas and ate mimicking how he'd seen the ordinary Morelanders eat at the Festival of Sail.

As Elisabeth joined them David listened carefully, as in Medusalin the idea of "Chippy Tea" of a Friday was a working class treat that went back to the Industrial Revolution. He remembered the odd "Chippy Tea" with his uncle after being taken to watch the rugby as a child and it was nice to see such a thing was clearly more of a southern Alba Karinyan tradition than he had thought of. He thought for a moment that perhaps how that happened was something he should ask Dr.Merriman when he got home. The two requests from Elisabeth were a little out of the blue. David thought for a moment, "I'm not going to obviously speak on behalf of everyone but I suspect many of us are a little surprised at what you're putting on the table. I for one though will be offering an alternative. I'm fortunate enough to have you as a neighbour and we have various outlets that can support trade, the AKO, MICA etc. I therefore believe that perhaps pursuing one of those in regards to trade between us may be a stronger way forward. I'd be happy to sit with you, and even perhaps the Crown-Princess from Valen and discuss these options separately."

The second matter was, at least as far as David was concerned, more interesting. "East Moreland has perhaps one of the longest histories in terms of accepting refugees. We have a facility called Hunter's Vale that has helped house a great many refugees and asylum seekers over the past decade or so. The idea of passing on that burden is one that I don't really like, we have a duty to help those made refugees by war or the like. Now what you are offering though is better than Hunters Vale. There its only a temporary establishment and while we have schools, health care, ok housing and the like its not a long term solution. What I would say then is this. If we find ourselves in a situation where Hunter's Vale has housed somebody for over a year we would look to utilise your programme, if they agreed. Also if we have you sign up to MICA or the AKO we may find other ways to help with your desire for a population boost."

Lindsay Esom occasionally had the rather dull job of checking a few frequently used social media sites used as a kind of signal system by members of East Moreland's intelligence services. From there things got sent up a chain until Grace Yacobs found it on her desk. It was an awkward one. What did the Empress actually think the Morelanders would do based on some backdoor messaging. Still Grace arranged for a briefing between herself, the King and Lindsay.

The Kings office was rather cosy this time of year. In the dark winters Quinn Germaine, the King's Head of Royal Household, ensured a log fire was always burning and the large floor to ceiling windows overlooking the lake let in as much light as possible. The three of them were joined by Princess Freya and Alex Redfern. "We're not exactly sure what she wants, best guess based on this and what Evanthe sent is she wants to somehow try and work things out. The problem is we all know she's not exactly fully in charge by the standards we'd set." Grace explained

"And how do we do that without the world knowing?" David asked, "I'm not inclined to just give support, if she's going to use us as a political tool to sort her problems out at home I'm not game for it, frankly I am tired of being dragged into Rokkenjiman games." The King said grimly.

"In that regard I have an idea." Alex inched forward in his seat.

"Go on" David was keen to see what he'd come up with.

"We're going to have you, Stasya and me and Freya head to Abertone with one of our EMAC Luxury Lifters for the World Cup. We'll fake an emergency back home, Rhiannon's ill or something, and you have to fly home. As the Rok's are right next door and the Princess and the Empress have a relationship we'll have her invite her for a flight taking your seats. As the thing will of course be given protection by the Abertone security services and naturally Red Legion they'll be only room onboard for the Empress and one of her guests. If she's sensible she'll think she's meeting with Freya and obviously bring a friend or something. Meanwhile we'll diplomatic bag you in, even Abertone won't know you're there. Once you're airborne we can have you appear as if out of nowhere."

"Diplomatic Bag me?" David vaguely recalled that from somewhere.

"Yes, you know like how we got folks out of Academica just before it got tasty. On this occasion though we'll have had Ironside One fly in with some cargo we need to offload that needs to go to the embassy. We'll have you board the aircraft, nip down to cargo, get into the box and when its offloaded and marked up as diplomatic Abertone won't check it. We then stick it in the hangar with the Luxury Lifter and have you hide onboard. Once airborne and no eyes around you can pop out of a birthday cake or something. On return we do the thing in reverse sticking you on Ironside Two. Which we'll fly in from the Iwi. If all goes well no one knows you're there."

"So I sit in a box?" David asked shaking his head.

"Yes....you'll love it." Freya mocked. "Even the Empress won't know"

"Make it happen".

The Morelander royal siblings and their spouses had arrived and right on cue Rhiannon had got chicken pox. David made his apologise to the various people he'd been scheduled to meet and entering Ironside One got into his box. All that was left to see now was whether the Empress had taken the invitation.

As envoy to Albion and also ambassador to Lodja Lord Peter Kade, the younger cousin of King David of East Moreland, had been dispatched to attend the after worship soiree. He knew his regal cousin would expect a full report both diplomatically and culturally. In many ways this was Peter's first real big task since becoming a diplomat for the King. He had followed his other cousin, Duchess Orlaith, into diplomatic service first spending some time in Rokkenjima and then, thankfully, in Lodja. There his duties post civil war had been simply being a conduit between his nation and his host. He had found a most joyous way of doing that by forming a romantic relationship with Lady Jasmina, the Chief Lady in Waiting of the Queen, and in his mind the most beautiful human being he had ever seen. He had tried to have her attend this event with him but he sensed Queen Natalya was still a little annoyed that he hadn't followed customary protocol when it came to courting one of her Ladies. Instead his plus one for the evening was Millie Hodgkinson, a young raising star in the diplomatic corps and was earmarked as being the new ambassador to the Heptarchy if formally approved by the Emperor.

The Morelanders watched the burning of the clothing and then made an approach towards the Crown-Prince. "Your Royal Highess" Peter bowed and one step behind him Millie did likewise. "My name is Peter Kade, I am the Royal Envoy to Albion from East Moreland, may I introduce to you Miss Millie Hodgkinson who will, all being well, be the new Morelander ambassador to your nation."

"Its an honour to meet you Your Royal Highness" she said giving yet another bow. "I'm hoping that it may be possible to present my credentials formally to your father if there is a chance, also on behalf of our own monarch, King David, we have this for you on the occasion of you assuming the....I think the words used in your media's reports is....rights and responsibilities of your station." She handed over a book, small enough to fit in a suit pocket and with a deep rich red leather cover. On the front in gold were the words "A Journal of a Consul" The first half of the book was a rather short book from a former Consul of Ancient Ardia. The back pages though were blank. "My King hopes you can fill the remainder with your own deeds and successes." She explained the meaning behind the gift."

"My cousin is somewhat of a history nerd" Peter said as way of further explanation, "It has become a little tradition of his to give a book of some sort as a gift on coronations and the like. I do though wish you all the best in the new role."

While I see room for encouragement in your letter and actions I can not help but be concerned. It seems to me like the Empress is struggling coming to terms with her position of responsibility and the situation that Rokkenjima finds itself in. While she speaks to factions of her administration that she feels need to hear anti-East Moreland sentiments she needs to be aware this requires me to both say and do things as a reaction. My fear is this will set us back to the times of animosity and anger. While I appreciate the steps taken by yourself I believe the Empress deserves the right to privacy in her personal diaries. Often for people in positions such as ours they are the only place we can truly be honest in our lives and as such I do not believe the young Empress deserves to have her personal scribblings scrutinised by myself or anyone else until such a time as she is ready. Meanwhile one of my most trusted intelligence agency workers, Grace Yacobs, will scrutinise ICON and if required support in monitoring the matters.

In the new year my sister is semi-retiring from military service and will eventually take on more government duties. While I had intended making her a minister for veteran affairs I will now more than likely make her some kind of emissary. In January we will be supporting Gusano in the long overdue hosting of a CETO festival. I would therefore ensure my sister attends and I believe perhaps you could take an oppurtunity to persuade the Empress to do likewise. This will give them an oppurtunity to speak without prying eyes of the media.

May The Gods Watch Over You and Your Nation Know Peace

KING FACES TRICKY COUNCIL APPEARENCE

Today the King made his scheduled visit to the Representative Council where, as long as diplomatic duties permit, each Wednesday he answers questions from Councillors for a minimum of 60 minutes. Today however the King was in the chamber for a total of 97 minutes as topics ranging from the recent bomb attacks in Nya Aland to the Empress of Rokkenjima's verbal attack on East Moreland. The King began as always by laying out his itinerary for the next week which included attending Princess Rhiannon's parents evening tomorrow. Questions began when the representative of Silverhills Central, Giles Mitchell, asked "Does the King intend to send military forces to Nya Aland following the recent attacks that have seen members of the East Moreland military targetted at Red Base."

The King responded saying "We send our best wishes to the people of Nya Aland who at this time have lost loved ones. We gave a commitment many years ago that the Alanders and Morelanders would be friends and I see no reason that should change. The Alanders face uncertain times but they can be certain that we shall support them if requested. At the moment Sir Harry Samuelson is in contact with their military and should the situation change so would our force dynamics."

Next was Chief Councillor Lucas Blakeslee who asked. "The recent report in Rokkenjima of their Empress calling some kind of Northfort Experiment into doubt what kind of response can we expect from our own diplomatic service."

The King answered by saying "There is no experiment going on in Northfort, at least not diplomatically. Whatever the Empress was refering to clearly relates to manner in which we do business and as far as I am concerned business in terms of our international relations and decision making is good. There are no plans from my side to change the way in which we interact with other nations."

Simon Mannix from Portworth asked if there was " a return to the days of anti-Moreland hate within the Rokkenjiman nation."

To this question King David replied, "We've seen no polls like we did in the past. The Empress has spent time in  East Moreland so while hopefully she may express issues with our administration then I would hope the respect for our nation still exists. The Empress has a long connection to our nation dating back to several incidents and I know she has spent time with my sister. It is these things that have therefore surprised me that we have been criticised."

Melissa Lusk, founder of International Refugee Support Agency (IRSA) and one of the Representatives for Freestone asked. "It would seem to those reading the Empresses address that there seems to be a move towards a new form of the CTO or similar. Do you believe such an organisation can be created and that it is sustainable?"

The King told the Assembly. "We took a decision to walk away from the CTO because it didn't work and our shoulders, along with Achkaerin, could not bear the load anymore. As such it worked out best for us to leave and walk away. I so far have seen nothing to make me walk back towards such a body. Nothing the Empress said would lead me to think otherwise. She has just spoken of her wishes and dreams of such a body but for dreams to become reality it takes hard work and dedication and I do not believe Rokkenjima are in a position to pull that off at the moment."

Next Sir Richard Ballen of Northfort Forest District asked "Do we put the Empresses words down to anything in particular or do we think her naivety on the world stage is showing?"

King David replied sternly saying "The Empress, like any royal, is in a position of privilege. While we may try to say young children deserve a normal childhood that is not going to happen for royal children. While I want Rhiannon to enjoy growing up, experience the fun of being a child, she is only too aware that one day she will be stood here before you. She is eleven years old and already being groomed for the crown. Rokkenjima should have, and probably did, prepare the Empress for the crown being on her head. The nature of royalty is that sadly the moment I go off to see Helus Rhiannon is in charge, while I pray that is in many many long years we also all know it could be tomorrow. While an eleven year old Queen of East Moreland would be unworkable I am confident that because of the support network around Rhiannon that on her 18th birthday she could run a nation. I am not going to disrespect Rokkenjima saying they have failed preparing the Empress for the throne but the situation there has been a complex mess for several years. I would also point out we have had leaders of similar ages who have been great leaders. Let us remember Queen Viktoriya of Lodja was 18 when she came to the throne and by 19 had helped redraft large sections of the MCUR, had helped forge the CNN and forged diplomatic links with a great number of nations and she was not born into a royal family. The Imperial Address is a key moment in Rokkenjima's annual calendar. The speech is written, drafted, practiced and revisited. While the Empress claims she spoke from the heart. It was a decision she made. She is in the business of making decisions and now must deal with what happens next."

Finally Sam Rushden from Keepton asked " What is the long term plan for East Moreland and Rokkenjima relations."

The King concluded saying, "I will borrow an often stated phrase from Rokkenjiman diplomacy. Our doors are open. We will not go cap in hand to Rokkenjima expecting them to solve this issue. We will continue our so called experiment by making deals throughout 2024 that benefit every Morelander, support those in need around the world and help bring peace and stability to people across Mundus. There are multiple ways of moving forward. Some have begun, others may happen in due course but I have more pressing and more important concerns than dealing once more with a spat from Rokkenjima. Much has changed from those examples in the past and we do not chase friends."

The King concluded his question and answer session by taking a question from Jack Robinson from Stoneton who asked whether the King supported "the ADSN call for independence for Troyes".

The King said. "I have always, and will always, support the idea that people should have the final say in how they are governed. Following the Regency Crisis here in East Moreland I put before the public the first constitution of this Kingdom. Within it is a mechanism for, if the people ever wish......and I hope they don't, making East Moreland a Republic. If the people of Troyes truly wish to be independent we must establish a way of fairly and openly gauge that. If the people truly then support rejoining Marseille and the removal of Seaforth forces then I'll support that. I always find it strange people travel around Mundus claiming territory and the Seaforth involvement in Troyes is yet another puzzling moment."

To:- Empress Emerita Evanthe

I am writing with my concerns regarding the recent media statements regarding our nation that have originated in Rokkenjima.

First the language used by the young Empress is insulting to our nation. To claim some so called "Northfort Experiment" has lead to lose of life unseen before the Commonwealth period is ludicrous. Since becoming King my nation has always gone above and beyond in terms of preserving life. A fact the Empress should remember only too well considering her own captivity at the hands of the Borlanders. There we placed the good of the international community above our own ends and as a result are still paying in lost Morelander lives today. There are literally millions of people alive on Mundus today who were it not for the actions of my armed forces, dedicated volunteers and aid organisations established here would otherwise be dead.

Under the reigns of previous Empresses it was always seemingly a competition in international affairs. Rokkenjima needed to be seen as the global elite. CTOMM was commanded by a Rokkenjiman. For many Morelanders, and I suspect others around the world who lost loved ones in that conflict, this is a hard pill to swallow. Hundreds of Moreland Legionnaires died freeing Marseille while following the orders of a Rokkenjiman who never committed forces from his own nation. When Lijiang sought to become the HQ of the MAEA you yourself stated in a response that they are a nation with "potential capacity for human suffering" all in an attempt to earn the right to host the organisation. We see this again in the language used by the Empress stating they'll give us "a run for their money". Nothing would please me more than seeing a Rokkenjima active in being good partners on the global stage once more however rather than seeing it as a competition I would urge the Empress to make use of oppurtunities we have created. I note she recently attended our Festival of Sail and while she is always more than welcome I note that there were at least four other heads of state present (Emperor Marco of Abertone, The Veiled One of Gusano, Queen Natalya of Lodja and Empress Serenity of Achkaerin) yet no attempts to meet with any of them were made, meanwhile representatives of my government meet with all four. In January we shall be supporting Gusano in their admission to the CETO and in keeping with the establishment of their newest city helping them host a cultural extravaganza, it would be my hope that the Empress attend that with a more sociable frame of mind in regard of diplomacy.

We are with this Imperial Address repeating many of the patterns of old. While the rift between East Moreland and Rokkenjima was I believed closing we are seeing it now re-open. We see the Empress talking about the creation of what will be a forth attempt at some kind of global body in less than ten years. Each have failed and no lessons have been learned as to why. Meanwhile we have seen regional co-operation flourish. We have seen the nations of Ardia use their body to mediate a flashpoint, we have seen the creation of a Krimeon anti-piracy force and we have seen TUNA put in place measures to support a marginalised people in the form of the Water Nomads. These bodies have achieved a great deal and this regional determinism should be supported. Add to this we once again are seeing your nation literally throwing money at nations on the criteria of "Democracy". I remind you this word was stricken from the MCUR as many nations, my own included, would not likely fulfil the criteria of being a fully fledged democracy. I suspect the vast majority of your $1billion is going to sit in a Rokkenjiman bank whereas it could easily support people on the ground in nations like Kermah where education is hard to come by for some and can be supported without the need to add conditions. The women of remote Lijiang struggle to access health care so the Global Childbirth Initiative work hard to try and change this, yet Lijiang would not be permitted to access these funds and so women continue to die in childbirth from treatable conditions. We see time and again what could best be described as "hoop jumping" by Rokkenjima to gain diplomatic traction. Most nations simply want a friend not a banker.

As the Empress explains the situations are QAMB and the recent issues with Daito are complex. While this is true the same is true that members of the Rokkenjiman armed forces have been involved in both. Decision making and chains of command have clearly fallen apart during these moments resulting in damage caused by your nation. This also creates a lack of trust. Elements of the Rokkenjiman military are clearly not fit for purpose. For several years now Achkaerin Justicars and various intelligence officials have worked alongside your military in order to try and solve this situation and yet we still see scenarios where whole hosts of your forces were involved in a political plot. We inherited a similar situation of mass corruption, outdated command structures, disloyalty and political backstabbing in Lodja and have now turned their armed forces into a steady reliable tool for the crown there post civil war and have now, save for joint exercises, removed our training teams. Only once the Achkaerin forces hand back total control of information, command and control will your nations forces be seen as reliable to many in the world.

I note both yourself and the Empress make use of the motif of "open doors" and people being welcome to walk through them. Such statements are used a lot by a string of Rokkenjimans and have seen the once lorded Rokkenjiman Diplomatic Corps fail to maintain itself as what it was once perceived as. There was a time myself as a new King I accepted such an invite because I believed it was one that would be important for my nation. Were I crowned today I am not so sure I would have walked through that door so readily. I was fortunate enough to be tutored by Dr.Marcus Merriman who as well as teaching medieval Morelander history taught his students several important life lessons. The first of these is that a persons perception of the world is their reality. If people perceive you as being one way then to them that is how they will treat you. It is my hope the world perceives East Moreland as a nation steadfast in its commitment to make Mundus better and that we are a nation that is a reliable and dependable friend that will always show up and do the right thing. If you are being honest with yourself what do you believe is the perception of Rokkenjima these past few years? The second thing he taught me was that rereading ancient stories will not bring about new endings. We are, I fear, beginning to see a reply of the situation between myself and the Empresses mother. I would urge her not to do this.

On Wednesday I will go before the Representative Assembly as I do every week and I will answer their questions that are likely to come on the relationship between Rokkenjima and East Moreland. This letter is likely to give you a flavour of what will be said. You know only too well we in East Moreland place a greater emphasis on deeds than words. As such this will be born out in my statements before my Assembly.

Should you wish to contact me regarding this matter before Wednesday you are more than welcome.

May The Gods Watch Over You and Your Nation Know Peace.

King David of East Moreland.

PRINCESS "PROUD" OF THE "NORTHFORT ERA"

Today Princess Freya visited the studios were various Star Wars related media is filmed. The Princess is said to be a keen fan of the franchise and was snapped on set with several of the cast from leading shows. The Princess was also questioned about the recent address from the Empress of Rokkenjima who stated "The Northfort Experiment has failed miserably, leading to losses of life not seen since before the Covenant/Commonwealth era. Do we persist on this path or do we, collectively, decide that our pride is not worth this continued loss of life?"

The Princess spoke on the statement saying "In 2017 East Moreland and Achkaerin made a brave decision to leave the Commonwealth Treaty Organisation. It has become clear by then that the two nations were shouldering the weight of the organisation. As I trudged my way across Marseille I had been promised support from Rokkenjima and while my boots and uniform became caked in the mud of Marseille not a single Rokkenjiman got so much as a spec of dust on their uniform. Proudly the CTO forces succeeded in returning freedom to that nation and as a result also Acquitane. But lets not forget as we hiked across Albion with heavy packs on our backs Rokkenjima picked fights with Nya Aland almost prompting a second war on that continent. Since 2017 we saw conflict in Lakhzovia, a nation where the Utmen were being persecuted and once again the Moreland military entered the fray and established a massive air bridge back to East Moreland taking tens of thousands of refugees out of harms way. Add into this mix our actions to remove those facing religious persecution in Mavrosia and the subsequent aid operations around the world I find it hard to understand that we are somehow responsible for losses of life. Meanwhile we have seen Rokkenjima repeatedly provoke conflicts and conflicts with its friends and neighbours, ranging from destruction of former overseas bases causing environmental damage, a brief unfortunate war with their neighbours in Daito and constant falling outs over matters such as where to base organisations. My brother has created a diplomatic network for East Moreland that is clearly the envy of Mundus. When his time comes, many long years from now, Rhiannon will inherit a legacy that she will find extremely difficult to live up to. In the time as King of East Moreland David has created a foundation that has allowed us to co-operate with nations beyond the imagination of many. The More and Mundus Network established a school exchange programme open to all nations of the world that has seen thousands of young people form life long friendships around the world making our future one where our leaders of tommorrow will have an understanding of culture far in advance of many of their predecessors. The Cultural Exchange Treaty Organisation has allowed sites around the world to be protected, advanced scholarship and returned valuable artefacts to rightful owners. The Uppsala Convention, what is now a cornerstone of international law has my brothers fingerprints heavily all over it. A network to protect and prevent trade in animal products in the guise of the Wild Mundus Organisation was pushed by him and his former wife. The Global Childbirth Initiative   has helped establish world class medical training for midwives across Mundus. The Joint Emergency Team was an idea formed by him and Peter Knutsson of the UNP and has worked in some of the most dangerous situations across Mundus. Even the Mundus Refugee Agency that was part of the CTO lives on in the guise of the East Moreland established International Refugee Support Agency (IRSA), whose work East Moreland has borne the brunt of. Anytime, anywhere that there has been a need to help those in danger, to help those in need there has been an East Moreland boot on the ground alongside East Moreland money. I believe firmly that without the so called Northfort Era there are people on Mundus who would never have been born. The Empress knows me well, she spent time on pilgrimage with me, she spent time with me at my home, she knows East Moreland is famed for two things, the first our remarkable punctuality, the second that when we say we'll do something we do it. The best example? There had been talk of removing nuclear weapons from existance and while everyone else talked East Moreland not only dismantled our own but then supported others to do the same."

The Princess was then asked why she believed the Empress would take a shot at East Moreland in her speech. "I have no idea" The Princess explained, "We have often seen in the past Rokkenjiman politicans and royals talking a good game but often one that places them as some kind of leader. While the Empress may talk of the need for an international forum I think the regional approaches have worked very well. One need only look at Grand Duke Hugo Lascelles solving several issues in Ardia using that approach. Rokkenjima seem to believe offers of vast sums of money are the way forward. While we in East Moreland have given overseas aid we have never had to dangle it as a carrot to be our friend or by jumping through hoops access it. If someone needs clean water an East Moreland plane carrying it will turn up and a Royal Engineer will dig a well if thats what is needed, or better still train someone from that nation to dig it. I am proud of what we have achieved and when the time comes that my brother stands before the Gods I firmly believe that they will welcome him to the afterlife with pride knowing that they created such a man. Is this something the last few rulers of Rokkenjima can say? I would urge the Empress to drop the combative and competative nature of her calls for diplomatic engagement and instead just turn up."

The Princess filmed several short clips with characters from the Star Wars Universe that will be used as part of charity campaigns in the new year. The Princess has also confirmed that when her commission comes up for renewal in February she will be moving onto the reserve list. The Princess said, "I've had a long enjoyable career in the forces. The long treks though across places like Seaforth, Marseille and Safraen have taken a toll on my knees and as such I think its time to bow out of full time active duty. My brother has always allowed me to come and go as a part of his government by placing the 2nd Light Scouts above my duties as an Ironside and I love him for that. Now though its time that I support him in what you could describe as the family business. That diplomatic success we've enjoyed could always use a second pair of hands and I'm keen to add a few stamps to my passport, only this time leaving the bergen and rifle behind." The Princess has confirmed that she will initially be focusing her attention on helping ensure the Mersch situation is resolved in "short order" and that she hopes to also spend some time working with the Semelberg Armed Forces.

King David has yet to formally respond to the comments from the Rokkenjiman Empress however his Press Secretary Malcolm Tucker stated, "His Majesty is aware of the comments and hopes the Empresses has not resorted to taking up the methods of the old Rokkenjima. King David would value the friendship of Rokkenjima and its people yet today that may well have taken a backwards step." King David is due for the final round of questions before the Representative Council of 2023 on Wednesday and it is likely questions on this topic could come up.

QUEEN HOPES FOR "JOYOUS" 2024

Speaking today at the Temple of the Sisterhood of Helus in Northfort Queen Stasya spoke about the upcoming new year. The Queen was attending a ceremony to swear in the latest group of Priestesses to qualify. The Queen spoke with the media following the ceremony saying. "The year 2023 has been one that has been only OK for me. I've seen my faith come under attack by snipers, bombers and other terror attacks. I've seen our nation targetted by terrorists from Mersch and at times I've made decisions that have made my relationship with my husband a little tense, for example my families assistance to take control of Semelberg. While that has now been proven to be a positive for all parties it wasn't at first. I've seen my desire for a 2nd child go unfilled and that has also made my husband sad. We desperately want a little brother or sister for Llewellyn and Rhiannon." The Queen however has said she has strong hopes for 2024. "I'm confident the new year will be extra special. We are praying for a joyous 2024. We plan on expanding the missionary programme of the Sisterhood with at least three new schools, one in Bakkermaya, one in Semelberg and one in Lodja. Beyond that myself and David will be trying to get pregnant to ensure the Ironside dynasty becomes strong. I also have some big plans for my fashion business and I think we'll be able to make some big waves in the New Year."

The Queen later went to visit St.George's Church to take gift baskets for the Church to distribute as part of its Christmas Homelessness Project. Bishop Clyde Buckley said. "We are trying our best to make sure no Morelander, regardless of faith, is out in the cold. We may be a very very small minority here but that doesn't mean we can't play a big role. The Queen has always been supportive of social projects and to have her visit and bring us support is lovely to see, especially at this special time of year." The Queen delivered the baskets containing food, drinks, toiletries and sleeping bags before joining with some of the Church goers for mince pies and gingerbread coffee.

TROYES PROTESTS TAKE NEXT STEP

It has been a remarkable day in the Seaforth controlled city of Troyes. The city has been the scene of a number of protests over the last few months and today the newly formed ADSN released a statement on the situation.

Quote from: Statement

CONCERNED about the current situation within the city of Troyes

MINDFUL that a clear message has been sent from the citizens of the city regarding their future

COMMITTED to the notion of people being free to shape their own future.

DETERMINED that the Seaforthian citizens of Troyes deserve dignity, respect and safety

The nations gathered on this date in Rokkenjima believe the following.

1. The City of Troyes should return to the nation of Marseilles.

2. The Kingdom of Seaforth should remove, by no later than 30th April 2024, its armed forces from the region.

3. The Kingdom of Seaforth should be permitted to remove any sensitive or classified materials from its military establishments.

4. There should be no action taken to impede any citizen of Troyes relocating to Seaforth taken by the Republic of Marseille.

5. Any Seaforthian citizen remaining in Troyes should be given the option of becoming a Marseille citizen.

6. Should any action be taken to deny Seaforthian citizens remaining the same rights and freedoms of a Marseille citizen the signed nations shall undertake action to protect those people.1a

OOC- The original date for Article 2 was end of November giving that it was originally 4 months from statement to deadline I've changed it to End of April 2024

Within a few hours a pre-planned protest took place where an estimated 200,000 people marched through the steets of Troyes, a number organisers say is a "gross underestimation." as they put the number closer to 500,000. The large group assembled outside the Fort of St.John and then marched through several of the key boulevards bringing the city to gridlock. Several groups broke off in a clearly agreed tactic to essentially take over key junctions in the city. As the group arrived outside the Troyes Military Base run by the Seaforthian military. The leader of "The New Real Marseille" is Alain Doucare who explained in a leaflet distributed by the crowd that "The city of Troyes wants to be Marseille and identifies with that nation as our true and legitimate government. Now we have nations that are native to this region supporting our cause. The protest today and the ongoing strikes that bring the city to a standstill show there is no way to maintain Seafothian activity here."

Later in the day both Empress Serena of Aosta and Empress "Sutāraito of Rokkenjima both were seen in the city helping distribute food and clothing packages to those on strike at places such as the cities train and bus stations. A spokesperson for the group New Real Marseille said "We had been contacted about the pair visiting the city to show support. This protest though needs to be carried by the people of Marseille. As a result we asked that the two Empresses attend in a lower key manner than some kind of official trip." They were joined at one point by Jean-Pierre Cantona, the first President of Marseille who said, "While I may be the first President of Marseille it will be someone else who will have the honour of being the President of the whole of Marseille as without Troyes we are not complete."

There has yet to be any word on the statement from Seaforth.

Diplomacy and Events / Re: A Run on the Banks

David settled into his seat and rubbed his hands as though warming them up for grabbing hold of the wooden oar. He'd never been in a Whaleboat before and the rowing was certainly different to professional rower him and Will Buckley occasionally took out on the lake or riverway leading to the Palace. The oar felt heavier and didn't glide in the same way as those lightweight sports oars. By the time they'd reached the vinegar bank island the King's back was beginning to feel a little tight and he regretted having not warmed up enough. He could feel his heart beginning to beat a little faster as they reached the island and secured his oar. As the vinegar solution was being handed up David helped pass the container along before doing his best not to fall into the sea as he took hold of his broom and began scrubbing. The mixture of vinegar and the sea was not the most pleasant of aromas but it was good to get a good close up look at the box.

"Scrub harder" Stasya urged him as she enjoyed a drink on the motorboat.

David just smiled at her and even though she was far out of the reach of the broom he heaved it towards her as though setting to brush her with it, almost over extending himself before Henrietta Quinn grabbed a sleeve "Steady there Your Majesty" she smiled as she inspected a spot where a barnacle had been growing and was now satisfied it had been obliterated. As Prince Theo spoke about leaving the evils of the past year behind the King, although he didn't share the same Gods, said prayers asking for forgiveness for the wrongs of 2023 and his hopes for 2024. With gifts being left in the box David handed his broom over and motioned for Stasya to pass a gift over. It seemed a bit of a waste but traditions were traditions and a small silver cup inscribed with the date. He showed it Theo checking it was an appropriate gift before consigning it to the sea. The row back to shore David had tried to remember the song the rowers had sung on the way out to the vinegar safe but wasn't sure he'd done an appropriate enough job. Back on dry land he had gone to embrace his wife who just backed away holding a finely manicured hand towards him. "You stink like a fish" She teased him pretending to sniff his grey overall. Although he had enjoyed witnessing the ceremony he was actually glad to be back on dry land, the Navy had never appealed to him and it was considered the least popular of the three services within the East Moreland forces. David went and changed back into one of his fine tailored suits and only then did Stasya agree to allow him to kiss her. "Did you pray for anything in 2024?" David asked her.

Stasya would have laughed, to her the notion of religion wasn't that important. She believed of course but wasn't really sure in what. She loved some of the notions of Sessifetism but knew she would have to embrace Helus in some way, the Sisterhood and its controversey appealing to her more than the maintstream version. She knew thought the closeness of her husbands faith. "Only for a little thing" she said patting her stomach a little, "girl preferably" It was of course a lie, she had no intention of having to once more return her body to its eye catching nature but she feared to keep David happy she may have to make it happen. Her words brought a smile to David's face and he was permitted to wrap his arms around her and kiss her. "I'm starving" she added as they pulled apart.

Henrietta meanwhile, freshly escaped from her sodden grey overalls, overheard Saskia and Theo talking. "After that bit of exercise and the fresh sea air I heard the words mulled wine?" She said as she approached. "If there is any going count me in"

Rebecca (Becca) Burrows

Born in 1993 Rebecca hails from the town of Keepton in the Alps. Her father was a local GP and her mother ran a florists. She has an older brother Simon and a younger sister Megan. The family would often spend summer holidays in different countries with her father encouraging the youngsters to get involved in adventurous activities.

At the age of nine Rebecca was considered to have significant potential as a cross country runner and was beginning to gain offers from prestigious private schools for scholarships.  By the age of 11 her parents had made the decision that they would send her to Northfort Girls Academy as a boarder. While Rebecca seemed to plateau in running she did become an excellent science student and in 2011 graduated with top grades in Chemistry, Biology and Maths. She was accepted into the Army College of Higher Education to study medicine.

While at the College she was attached during her training to a unit attached to the Alpine Cadre at her request as it had ties back to her hometown of Keepton. She represented Duke Legion at several of the Ostlake Games with her best performance coming in 2013 when she won a Silver in the Triathlon. In 2018 she graduated as a doctor and as all students at the Army College do entered military service on a minimum ten year contract. She was made, rather unsurprisingly, a member of the Army Medical Corps but was attached to the Alpine Cadre after passing their specific training tests. She has since seen service in Seaforth, Academica and Mavrosia.

In 2022 she passed the various tests required to be a member of the Joint Special Forces Aviation Wing and has her winged dagger as a result. She has however not been permanently placed with the JSFAW but has served as a member of their teams who accompany the Royal Family on overseas visits, mainly as after the first sortie on Ironside One the King discovered her connection to the Alpine Cadre.

As of November 2023 she had just gained promotion to the rank of Captain.

She has served as a medical officer in the Cadre since 2016 and

FREESTONE F.C FACE EJECTION FROM LEAGUE

While the eyes of the international footballing community might be on the world cup in Abertone the East Moreland Premier League have today been rocked by a scandal which may see Freestone F.C ejected from the league. The club were part of a random drugs test on Monday and while no players tested positive for any banned substance the drugs testing teams, who also inspect the clubs medical records, found evidence of a systematic attempt to enhance player performance using Lugworm Haemoglobin. The substance is used in several medical forms, most notably in patients after transplants as the Haemoglobin has been noted to be a universal blood substitute that can transport 40 times more oxygen than human haemoglobin. The chemical also has an extremely short detection period of just a few hours. It has been determined that it is likely that Freestone F.C players had, on several occasions, been injected with the substance around 30 minutes before kick off as the impact is almost instant. It would have allowed them to work harder on the pitch than they normally could by allowing their blood to carry more oxygen to the muscles. The players would then play the game and should they be selected as the random player for drug testing the substance would have dissipated enough that there would be no trace of it in any test. However the substance is not routinely tested for in any case. The club deny any wrong doing however it is understood that viles of the chemical were recovered and as it is a prescribed item it was illegally held by the club, therefore Freestone Police have also become involved.

Many of the vials were from OsmanTech who released a statement saying. "We have no knowledge of how Freestone F.C would have acquired the items in question. We provide top quality extracts of this haemoglobin to health care providers but once delivered it is out of our control over how they distribute it. We would however withhold sales to any individual or company that circumvented the prescription process." Jessica Osman, who is the companies CEO, added "We have always tried to be ethical and we shall co-operate with any investigation by the national F.A or the Police. This product is not intended for any non-medical purpose and actually if a controlled blood doping programme has taken place they have denied supplies to legitimate medical outlets."

The club have so far declined to comment however the F.A have said that the clubs games will be allowed to continue until an investigation is completed however all members of the clubs medical staff have been suspended from "footballing activities" by the F.A. In addition a F.A obeserver will be present in the Freestone F.C squad to ensure no blood doping is taking place. Should the club be found to have carried out a systematic doping programme they are likely to have their licence to operate as a club withdrawn which will see them unable to complete the season. Alternatively if it is found to be more isolated then the club could face a two point deduction for each case discovered. Currently Freestone sit 2nd in the National Division which is the 2nd tier of East Moreland football. They have no players in the current world cup squad.
