Diplomacy and Events / Re: Troyes Affair

"I believe I should start with saying that there are those in the Imperial Palace who find themselves quite vexed with the situation, after all, the approach we've seen involving Real Marseilles and Aosta has placed Rokkenjima in a position it does not wish to be in. It was not the intention of the Empress, when signing the Joint Statement regarding Troyes, that such measures would lay on the horizon; she was expecting something much more nuanced and rooted in a diplomacy-first understanding. I personally find the actions which have led us to this point to be most reckless, abandoning the sorts of norms and standards through which this could have otherwise been settled, especially to anyone who knows the character of Seaforth, yet now we're sat here talking when diplomacy could have yielded much greater results with less risk prior to them essentially forcing the issue. Personally, as I speak here essentially amongst family, Rokkenjima is frustrated that the actions of Aosta and Abertone have placed us in this present position, and while I might not have been born a Rhodes I too have shed blood and bled myself for Seaforth."

"This is a situation none of us asked for," she continued, "yet it's my hope we may ultimately make the best of it." After she had spoke Evanthe reflected within herself, a part of her was resentful that this business had been laid in her lap, and it was likely that Andrew, with an intellect she'd come to know amongst the Rhodes, would pick up upon the fact that she wasn't supportive of the present status of things, that while Rokkenjima had made clear that it would honour the Pyrettania-Eventide Accord, they were all walking a tight rope to support the nascent ADSN and, personally, she would find it difficult to recommend that the Empress turn her back on those Accords as prescribed by the discussions within the ADSN. "If we may speak personally when official matters are concluded," Evanthe again spoke, "I would be most appreciative of your time."

Dear Prince Maximus

I am excited by your proposition and I'd be delighted to meet with you. I believe that it is far too long since our nations have meet and now we have a great oppurtunity to do great things and solidify our region of the world at a time when in other parts of Albion we see problems. I hope that perhaps we can also add this current issue to the agenda you have suggested.

Andrew had been woken up almost 24 hours earlier when news of this broke, he'd spent much of the day in and out of briefings, dealing with various calls from ambassadors, Lt-Col Freddie McCaul and the guys down on the HMS Red Crown. He had been rather annoyed reading the statements from Rokkenjima and Achkaerin who he considered to be among the strongest of his allies, meanwhile he understood David was busy in Lodja no doubt busying himself with "dynastic business" and the Morelanders had, at least so far been rather quiet on the matter. He had though been pleased that the Cenneg had issued a statement of report and he fully intended to talk to King Finley later to offer his thanks in person. It was set to be a few difficult days and now he'd actually got Serenity and Evanthe here in person, had they not heard of Zoom? He had his aide show the guests in.

"Please take a seat" Andrew said while still busying himself tidying away some documents into the folder as he stood behind it. He made very little eye contact with them as he seemingly focused on the documents making sure they were in the correct order. "You'll have to forgive me" Andrew began, "This is not exactly a meeting that we had been planning for and as you can appreciate I have quiet a lot of matters on my plate at the moment" he gestured to the glass top of the desk before him. He was still stood as he continued. "I've heard your nations have released statements saying that Troyes in part of Marseille. Straight away I can tell you that this will not be as straight forward as you releasing statements and Aosta parking some boats. I've ordered my officer in charge of the base there to hold it and we've no intention of handing it over. In addition Troyes has a long history of its connection to Seaforth through the story of St. Jocelyn and while its never been as big as it is today there has always been, since the saints lifetime, an involvement of Seaforth in that city. Be that supporting monastries, churches or just pilgrimage. Even though the Seaforth Catholic Church no longer enjoys the favour that it once did the saint still has lots of respect in our nation. Now in regards to the city the ungrateful there need to realise we didn't invest billions just to have the place slip from our fingers. At the end of the day there will be a presence of Seaforth there. Now I could perhaps conceed the city itself going back to the Republic of Marseille but on two conditions, the first would be that we retain the base and the port we have built there and all the rights that brings, the second would be that we are given tariff free trade with Albion through the port. These rights would be eternal. That way we at least get compensation for the time. We though prefer to go back to the way the city was before these Real Marseille rabble rousers and your ASDN buddy Empress Serena began causing trouble. Now I will also warn you that I intend to fly aircraft into Troyes to reinforce the garrison there, take supplies in and bring home the families of the soldiers who are there. You though placed me in a rather tight spot as to do so I will be, according to you, violating the air space of Marseille as I will not be asking Sauzee's or any other politicans permission."

The Minister of Foreign Affairs would exchange a warm smile at King David, before being pushed away by Jim Cobalt's bodyguard. Jim would grin at David, extending his arm out for a handshake.
"Nice to finally meet you, Your Majesty."

SISTERHOOD CELEBRATE "2MILLION"

Today marked the first day of the Sisterhood of Helus first conference. The religion, considered by many to be an offshoot of the Cult of Helus, has been steadily growing over the last four years and as such its founder and High Priestess, Jinny Denman, organised a conference in Northfort to support the growing Priesthood, plan for future temple construction and allow the faithful to meet. The religion also announced that it has now got two million members however this is disputed by many. Opening the conference Jinny Denman addressed an estimated 800 members of the faith and said, "In just a short time many of you have come to realise the truth of what we are establishing. At first those of us who lead the vanguard were called cranks, morons, even troublemakers yet now we are seeing our numbers grow and grow every single day. This year we've just hit two million members of the Sisterhood, and thats just in East Moreland, we have handfuls in various other nations around the world too." In a statement later Denman explained that the number comes from the number of people who attended Temple during the Feasts dedicated to the Gods and then considered that many regions of East Moreland lack temples dedicated to the Sisterhood. While Denman puts the number of faithful at two million experts believe it is likely the faith have less than 1.5million members. The High Priestess also explained that she intends to try and expand that number in the coming year. "It is vital we do all we can to help educate those who don't follow the Sisterhood of Helus find out more about the religion and then we can welcome them. The dream is that one day the Cult of Helus is no more as they have all seen the light our faith involves."

The conference is lacking perhaps the most prominent member of the Sisterhood of Helus, Queen Stasya, who converted to the faith after moving to East Moreland. The Queen is currently visiting family in Lodja and had been joined by King David until the situation in Troyes had him recalled yesterday. Queen Stasya did however have a video message for those attending the conference saying "I'm delighted that we as a faith can now gather in such numbers to make important decisions. My role as Queen of East Moreland means I must help ensure the freedoms of religion for all within my husbands Kingdom however I obviously share Jinny's dreams. That is something I think I am not the best person to be involved, that falls to you all for you are the life blood of Helus." During the first day of talks it was revealed that the Sisterhood currently has assets worth around $300million, mainly due to donations from prominent members of the faith as well as gifts of land for constructions of temples. It was revealed that the first overseas temple, built in Semelberg is due to be completed within the next month and that two more foreign Temples should be constructed this year, one in Bakkermaya and one in Lodja. It is believed that these two locations can see some success as Bakkermaya has large numbers of followers of Helus meanwhile the appeal of a female deity who is a strong leader may appeal to some Lodjains.

Tomorrow the conference is expected to discuss matters relating to a further formulation of rules for the Priesthood.

EMAC AND PORTWORTH DOCKYARD COLLABORATE

The Ministry of Defence have today announced that they have given funding clearance to a project from the East Moreland Aircraft Company (EMAC) and Portworth Dockyard. The project, which has yet to be given a name, will see EMAC develop an unmanned amphibious plane capable of landing on water or utilising airfields. This part of a project may be considered relatively simple enough for a company with EMAC's track record however this project will have a rather unique capability. The project calls for the aircraft to be able to land, launch an unmanned underwater vehicle and then recovery it before taking off. The Kingdom's Minister of Defence, Sir Harry Samuelson stated "The project is one that at this time is focused on helping us maintain our systems designed to monitor the nations EEZ. Our military has utilised a range of unmanned technologies ranging from traditional air vehicles to our RoboGuard land vehicle. This aquatic role for such technology is perhaps a new pathway but it could be an interesting one. What we have in mind is the idea that several of these autonomous subs can be carried, the crew come round and release them at the edge of the EEZ and then almost like a week later come and pick them up and replace them. The project is in its infancy but we're hopeful of its coming to fruition quickly as the technologies already exist, its just finding ways of moulding them together." It is believed that while the system may at first be designed to patrol the EEZ it is likely that more offensive versions may be created in the years ahead. There is also oppurtunity for the system to be used to help special forces infiltrate hostile waters.

The amount given to the project has not been confirmed.

Empress Under Pressure In Midst Of Kusanese Attacks

Certain voices in the Imperial Rokkenjiman Government have raised questions over the response from Empress Asuna the Second to aggressive actions from Kusan.

In an unusual affair the Empress has been called an "inexperienced child" by a member of the Imperial Diet and, while the statement was made behind closed doors, it highlights frustration amongst Rokkenjiman lawmakers in regards to her approach to an attack upon the Imperial Rokkenjiman Navy. "The Saisei Empress would never have allowed this attack to stand without a strong, determined and ultimately destructive response for this long," Machida Kyo, representing Azukishima Prefecture in the House of Commons shared with the RBC. "The Saisei Empress would have seen Kusan's aggressive potential reduced to zero in the moments following their brazen attack, and we'd today be discussing their terms of surrender, not wondering what the Empress will do when our brave sailors have been viciously attacked. This is a disgrace, and one I hope the Grand Marshall is paying strict attention to," he concluded.

Empress Saisei spoke on trust in her daughter at length.

After the remarks were made Empress Saisei herself spoke on the matter, stating that she has "full faith and confidence in Empress Asuna the Second to navigate this period of Rokkenjiman history. I imagine, if I were in power in this scenario, I'd take a cautious approach as well as we've no clear idea what is really happening in Kusan, what the legitimate chain of command is; look, the legitimacy of Ri Chŏng-jun is something of a matter of question at the moment and, as I understand, the Imperial Rokkenjiman Government still recognizes Ri Sang-Hee as the legitimate Head of State of Kusan and we don't even know the results of the talks between Princess Sophia and her Kusanese counterpart. As Rokkenjimans it is our duty to trust the wisdom of the Empress in this moment, and as my faith in her is most certainly resolute, so should be yours. I raised a smart girl," the Empress Emerita paused to smile, "I'm proud of her and, I trust the path she has set our Empire upon in this moment of crisis. While some may doubt her, find confidence in my confidence if you must, but never question that the actions of the Empress are not in your best interests."

The Empress Emerita continued, "We could send Kusan back to the stone age if we wished but, what would that accomplish? I appreciate that Mr. Machida Kyo seems to know just what I would do, but his conclusions stand as all wrong here. I cannot be placed in any given situation as an authoritative voice; the Mundus in which I ruled no longer exists so, forgive me, but how dare he seek to speak as to what I would do; how dare he seek invoke my name against my own daughter? If Asuna believes the path forward is to assess an appropriate response, I have faith that she has good reason for that and I know, as I sat on Chrysanthemum Throne, she has hawks and doves speaking to her simultaneously as we speak. I won't doubt my girl's intuition, and if it needs saying I will say it: I have full faith in the path she leads our Empire upon without any reservation, period. I even heard the Clysperi sent a Kusanese vessel to a most deserved grave; we've no need to add to the humiliation they've suffered by striking out at them recklessly."

"I know Asuna's heart,"Saisei continued, "she will not lead us astray. We will stay the course she has set and, through it, we will ultimately be victorious. We do not need to overwhelm Kusan with our military superiority but through our moral and civil superiority. Asuna understand that and, in that understanding, she'll realize our victory."

Diplomacy and Events / Re: EM calling Fifeton
« Last post by DaveIronside on April 27, 2024, 06:33:56 PM »
It had been a busy week for King David, first he'd took advantage of a lull in proceedings of the various Councils back home to get to have a short break away in Lodja with his wife Queen Stasya. It had been a lovely few days until news had come from Troyes and he'd figured he'd keep a watching brief for now. There was though a chance to visit Fifeton on the way back as he left Stasya to spend some time in her homeland with her family for a few days. He shuffled a few briefing papers in his private cabin onboard as he finished getting himself up to speed and just as he flicked on to watch the rugby from back home there was a knock on the door. "Come in" the King yelled swivelling in his chair to see his Head of Royal Household, Quinn Germaine, entering. "Your Majesty we touch down in ten minutes or so, we've just entered their airspace."

"Thank you" David said placing the papers into his desk draw. He joined the rest of his entourage, a few security agents and translators, in the main cabin where the King saw his first glimpse of Fifeton out of the window. Soon the Air Force pilot at the stick of Ironside One placed them down smoothly and moments later and Air Force Steward was handing the King his jacket as he took his first steps in his Illumic neighbours nation. He found the welcoming committee and made his way over.
