King Henry II

King Henry II
Lived- 1946-2013
Ruled- 1977-2013

King Henry was born in 1946, and (after Graham II) the second longest reigning Aschlonian monarch. During his first years as king, he mainly used the power of the King to live a life of luxury, leaving the nobles below him in the feudal system to manage the country. He only really started to manage the country at the age of 52, when he reversed several of the policies of his predecessors, decreasing social benefits whilst also decreasing taxes. He replaced several of the nobles (whose bloodlines flowed back to the birth of Aschlon) with friends, which was deeply unpopular with the people. The majority of the replaced nobles had drastically increased social living standards in the areas they managed, and had been friends with the people they managed. Henryd Jefferson, a philosopher and fierce critic of the nobility, used this as an excuse to rile up feelings of pro-democracy. Henry’s vicious put downs of the ensuing protests further led to greater feelings of resentment towards him. In addition, several of the laws he made, such as Jame’s Law, allowed members of the Church to be only answerable to him, which was a heavy contrast to the past in which only the upper clergy were. This created even greater resentment towards him and the Church, and (in 2007) the tensions boiled over and led to the Revolution. He lost the ensuing war, and he and his legitimate bloodline, was executed.

King Henry I
Lived- 1913-1985
Ruled- 1946-1977

Henry was born shortly before the Great War broke out, and throughout his life had barely any memory of his father. When he was crowned the churh took temporary control of the nation. Their first act was to pull Aschlon out of the war and make peace with Fleur, whilst cutting off all alliances and  trade deals with other nations, going into self imposed isolation. When he began to fully run the nation, one of his first acts was to provide benefits to families who had lost someone in the war, and to war veterans, a first time thing in Aschlon. The people enjoyed alot of religious freedom during this time, with communities of Manist, Jewish and Islamic popping up, despite the church’s protest. He hosted several festivals each year, giving workers across the nation a week off in celebration. He became well known for his elaborate feasts in his court, which resulted in him becoming rather overweight. He died of complications to his heart after accidentally ingesting the poisonous liver of the Empress Penguin. He gave over his throne to his son after he questioned his ability to rule effectively.

King Ferdinand II

King Ferdinand II
Lived- 1892-1946
Ruled- 1910-1946

Ferdinand was born on the 10th of June, 1892. He was crowned at the age of 18, after his father stepped down from official duties. He led Aschlon into the great war in 1941, allying with Heyra, and subsequently, the Ardian Empire. He served in the military in an unknown role. He was accused of raping his wife in 1912, and the Church promptly execute his wife who made these claims. He took a second wife three weeks later, who bore him twins, the future King Henry and his sister, Elizabeth. His second wife committed suicide in 1914. He apparently took part in several battles against Fleur during the great war, until he died standing next to an artillery cannon that exploded. King Ferdinand was a big enthusiast for Fleur culture, and changed much of his personal heraldry and life style to match that of Fleur, which was ironic, since when war was declared Fleur was the nation they began to fight.

King Octavius I
« Reply #5 on: September 21, 2020, 11:03:46 AM »
King Octavius I
Lived- 1872-1937
Ruled- 1891-1910

One of the shortest reigning Kings, Octavius was born on the 12th of October, 1872. He became King at age 18, being crowned on the 16th of September, 1891. He was one of the most popular Kings, introducing a host of social reforms that rose the standard of living exceptionally. He created the Royal Trust Fund in 1895, a system where a cut of the people’s taxes would be placed aside to help those in need, most notably through his introduction of nationalized healthcare. Unfortunately, the Royal Trust Fund was abolished after his reign. He also removed the Feudal Obligations in 1896, a law that made it mandatory for all men under the age of 34 to serve in the military in times of war, something that would also be abolished towards the end of his reign, as a world war seemed more and more likely. He left a good legacy, however it is tainted by the rumours that he had his father murdered in order to take the throne. He died from a stroke whilst on a walk in 1937.

King Ferdinand I
Lived- 1843-1891
Ruled- 1860-1891

King Ferdinand was born on the 18th of November, 1843. His mother unfortunately died during his birth. He took a very hands off approach to running the nation, allowing his court to run the nation. He was a well known jockey nationally, however critics from aboard called him lacklustre. He ran a massive debt of several million in 1873 to a coal selling company, and took the rather extreme measure of getting out of it by ordering billions of crowns (the national currency of the time) to be printed in excess, causing hyperinflation and allowing him to easily pay off his debt. The nation shifted to using fistes , named after the company that he had owed debt to. In 1885 he ordered for a sharp increase in taxes. Not much more is known about his reign, due to his administration's apparent inability to record things. He died on the 10th of September, 1891, apparently committing suicide by impaling himself on a bed post.
